Dr. Tony Evans says the Lord didn't need to compromise the truth especially reach across ethnic and cultural divide sociology open up an opportunity for celebrating faithfulness. This is the alternative Dr. Tony Evans father speaker, senior pastor of Oakland Bible Fellowship in Dallas Texas and president of the urban alternative prejudice takes actors Dr. Evans, you said that most of us have been getting plenty of it since we were kids unlearning. It is an easy but as a way of introducing today's message where we start needs to be a call. First of all to the Christian community. But even broader to understand God's perspective on race and culture and to begin to respond to that perspective, rather than all the opinions of men.

God created the races he had in the 10 for he has explained how he wants the races to work and to work together and that's what we should be promoting what we get some practical advice on how to do that as we jump into today's message titled race, culture, and Christ every four years. There the Olympics where the elite athletes of the world come together to compete. They have worked hard to be viewed and understood and seen as the very best of the best and so they come and they compete against other athletes from other countries. Aspiring ultimately for the gold-medal ultimate recognition of their superiority. However, when the gold medalist stands on the platform to receive the gold-medal. They do not ask tomorrow.

What's their favorite soul. They played the national anthem of the country of which they are a part with their flag flying high because it is understood that happily use their talents and their skills and their efforts and their hard work they represent a bigger country. They represent a bigger kingdom. It's not just about includes them utilizes them but is bigger than them and so they want it to be made clear that they did this under the banner and under the flag of the kingdom that they represent. God has a kingdom it's made up of citizens and his intention was never that the individual uniqueness is whatever cause of the lose sight of the flag flying over the flag across the flag of our commitment to Christ. America in particular is reaching an all-time low in this issue of race and culture in class just under the surface there is this ever bubbling problem that has gone unresolved, this sinful evil disease of racism, cultural is in classism is too deep for over-the-counter remedies. Radical surgery is needed.

Any sicknesses lasted long and run, Ms. B. We need something more radical and much deeper to address this chaotic confusion in the culture. In John chapter 4, we have a definitive statement on this issue coming out of an event that Took Pl. in Jesus's life, Jesus has become popular with all members wanting now baptizing more people than John and it is become clear. He is emerging, and people are beginning to see that this was no ordinary man, a prophet with Jesus is not yet ready to make his full public declaration of who he is the eternal son of God and so is Judea and goes to Galilee, but we told in verse four he had to pass through Samaria little geography. Judea is in the South.

Galilee is in the north and right between Judea and Galilee, Samaria, so it was part of the direct link but the reason John puts it, here is because no docs and you have to pass through Samaria because in Samaria lived in the Samaritan doll. That's what they were called by Jews, the unclean ones a little bit of history in 722 BC invaded Israel as part of God's judgment.

Many of the Jews back to Assyria and transplanted some Assyrians in the Israel so that was an interracial marriage. The racial marriages created this new group of people called the Samaritans who were despises to see the moment by the Jews because of this interbreeding racially and so they wouldn't deal with the Samaritans because they were half breeds and they will unclean.

Anyone have anything to do with it.

But the Bible says that Jesus had passed through Samaria pass through Samaria is because the 12 o'clock noon as the Scripture says in the sixth hour. 12 o'clock is a woman coming to the well we told in verse five, and so we came to the city of Samara call sites on the positive ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph and Jacob's well was there. So Jesus being wearied from his journey, was sitting well. It was about a six hour there came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, give me a drink. Verse nine tells us that the woman said to him that you being a Jew, asked me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritan additionally was a Jew. He never identifies himself as a Jew. He never says that he's a Jew so Bentley is basically a Jew just by looking at him, seeing his dress. Hearing his accent because she doesn't see him and hear him.

He's obviously Jewish so he's a Jew, she words James is being who he was to read somebody else. Samaria and find out how to speak, Samaritan, and then find out how they dress like and dress like them. We was. He was only it was all creation to talk to a different kind of creation he was able to maintain his racial and cultural but maintain his racial and cultural identity get in the way of doing what his father called him to do that is to reach across the railroad tracks to somebody who was cultural would not return to the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans while God is not calling us to give up how he made us he is not ask to use how he made us to relate inappropriately to people he has made different than us. God is not asking you to be what he's made you as long as you so he is made, you you relate to the people we made the point that you consult Jesus Christ says can I have a drinking water. The woman is because he's doing something no Jew does is doing something that is people don't do this is been going on since 722 BC. So this is been going on for so she is on by the fat is Jewish lips to my Samaritan, please notice that he hadn't given any Bible yet preached a witness to her yet.

He hadn't given her theology, yet she don't even know who is also noticing the nicely see a lot of detail about Jesus would not want to drink out of the cup. I will have and I just don't do what you want witness to you but I will eat with your witness to you but I will drink with you. Yes demonstrated by sociology to the free allergy that wants to come to the woman is just shocked. Just because he put his Jewish lips there Samaritan is going to do what his own race won't because it was the right thing to do so. Jesus tells her it verse 10. If you knew the gift of God and who it was. You were talking to who said give me the drinks you would've asked him and he would have given you living water will transition to the spiritual give you living water. Everyone drinks you want to verse 13 will thirst again but whoever drinks the water that I will give him shall never thirst. The water that I give him will become a well springing up to eternal life woman says what I want that what I want to come. I had 12 o'clock everyday. This is well living.

I don't know when you go with what is.

Well, he says don't call your husband. She's about to have a husband.

Jesus said you got that right. Verse 17 you have correctly said because you have been the one you have now is not your husband. This you actually say he confronts her with her symptoms. Useless improprieties become a never gotten a foggy one when the drink from a cup sociology open up an opportunity for theology. Dr. Evans will tell us how the Lord capitalized on that opportunity comes back in a moment to continue this message from his current series race, culture in Christ. This powerful six lesson collection reveals how by following the Lord's example we can bridge the divides and heal the hostilities become so much a part of modern life.

It starts with the church and the individuals inside it, like you and me.

Right now Dr. Evans is back with part two of today's message says our fathers worshiped in this mountain. Verse 20 and you people racial/lavender say that it is the place where you want to worship Jesus as woman. Believe me, Val is coming and now needed to smell more gruesome. You were probably worth about what you know now what we know for selections of the Jews in our stomachs and now is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. For such people to fathers extortion attempts God's spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth noticed something when race comes up earlier. He was a Jew. She was a Samaritan yesterday from a cop Jesus making no, not L does the reality did you want Samaritan but now she brings up race in relationship to Jesus's father. When we worship our fathers worshiped in this mountain behind her is metal good resumes manga resume is where the Samaritan temple is located and that's what we go to church to church another juvenile explain this. My daddy told me when you want to get close to God you going to go back and told me that because my granddaddy told me who told me that this is how we live. This is how we worship God this thing is been passed down from my history as part of my heritage as part of my background is how I was right. People do what you do is because your daddy told you because you granddaddy told you told your great granddaddy told you we got two different histories. We got two different we were raised on different size of the track. Jesus wish Jesus had nothing to say which is but when you bring into the discussion to clarify what you know not your daddy was wrong. You granddaddy was wrong all not working correctly not worshiping the true God is a tradition you bring up into the equation because allergy anthropology and sociology.

Because when you bring into locations, spirit and truth is gotta be the spirit of the right motivation.

It must operate on an objective standard is a problem we are operating on illegitimate standards that are not rooted in God culture, history, background maybe it's the question we must ask the truth and not be the truth of the nation not be the truth because the truth is the standard by which reality is measured God's point of view on any subject you a certain way agrees with what God will raise the problem is people rich history when bad decisions to God himself.

Because this is me this is my background is what the people say. So I don't on the country for 240 looks like we've made some progress, but we back up to very little progress on single-story thickens as we get this last section woman says verse 25 know when Messiah comes. He's called the Christ when he comes to make everything all right Jesus there speak to you and me lady, already, you wait.

You'll have to wait for the woman runs in the town and she says verse when I come see a man who told me all the things I've done some of the city. All check out this Jesus because of the cross-cultural witness of Jesus to this woman, saying this about a trip down a 5 mile trip back to my trip to bring Jesus much Jesus as I have food to eat that you do not know about, say no. 378 gone in a town about Jesus and some with peers about message verse 34. My food is to do the will of him who sent me into accomplishing what kills me satisfied with me is doing the father's will not find you racist socialist culturalist man he says in verse 35 say four months and then comes the harvest lift up your eyes and look in the field. Already white on the harvest stop. Put middle say we'll get around it is now looking around later fix this later because if you pay attention and look up you'll see the field already ready when I looked up what they see this although Samaritan income across the field.

So what did Jesus do we set up an opportunity to relate to people must always be set up prices to reflect Christ will respect Jesus Christ background in the family of God.
