This is the gold show us is the goal show Joe good afternoon. Do you know that that is God's.

That was an interesting over the weekend returns a legit fight is okay as both loved it.

Is it bad for me is it bad is this is a poor reflection of me to sit there and say yeah I enjoyed it yes okay is always wrong say. I loved the fun like I want to see that. But I'm okay with it if we get there without people being Neanderthals on the baseball field.

The worst thing for baseball is that old-school bean ball war.

That is the dumbest thing in the world. So I agree right because the core of it you're giving away bases like that is for me fundamentally as opposed as I am to a sacrifice bunt peeing on an out for no reason for no benefit. It's sort of the same way in the opposite with intentionally hitting somebody not to mention that you actually could hurt somebody.

It wasn't intentional. Bryce Harper guided by pitch, but you could be out the rest of the year. So if you want if you don't give a damn to have that on your head, then fine right but that's a reflection of you. The fact that the manager clearly ordered it like 10 games a nonfulfillment. They it's it's pretty clear that he set the whole thing up now both managers.

In this case are culpable because God service has a similar mindset to Phil Nevin but all things in embarrassment. But yeah if you're interested in in a fight, but it was a legit baseball fight that was not what we normally see what's people milled around and frankly I didn't see the pitch that buzzed the tower of my trip the game before, so I don't have was it was the whole thing is never justified, but MBI forward.

I mindset could you justify going after somebody, they went to two different people that it was the second guy that they hit I was in the second and first time they went after was it José Fernandez, the I forget his name.

The rookie from Seattle. If you're behind him which I don't really understand what it 22 hey like dumb dumb but that's how we know what we can consider baseball right now my favorite baseball thing over the weekend was Freddie Freeman ball in his eyes out constantly bawling his eyes out in Atlanta. Very emotional return but Freddie Freeman got a big hit, believe in the final game of the series, Braves and Dodgers who may have some playoff history coming up that step. Atlanta's good and that made they could they could track the Mets down and when that division is that I think the Mets are also good, but you know if the bets are to have Baxter's are and take a pogrom in the in the rotation and right now they don't then Atlanta can absolutely come back again. Why would a lot of things to do.

We are on television, I saw somebody last night was and I want you every day on TV. I apologize. Well, if they're watching today. They can see this hardware that you are out this or this writer that this is where this gentleman told me that he watches North Carolina's sportscaster of the year that I stole from from somebody but has my name on it so I stole it from somebody also made out of gold, yes we read in the Winston-Salem last night for that and that's work like I want you on TV so were on TV so spectrum if you're listening indoor watching and rolling 1257 could also get us on the antenna 34.1. You are close to the WR LTV five viewing area fire Roku android Apple TV get the WR AL sports plus app and the high art with breaking news to redo the schedule update conference has changed this scheduling model for football so you go you don't go six years without playing a certain that's in your league.

Shocking, but it took this long so it's a 355 model so the every ACC school will have three schools, against which it will play every year. And then there will be five schools in two different packs. If you will and you will play those five schools one year and in the next year and did you play the other five schools.

The following year and the year after that which we could, we could argue maybe they should alternate but regardless, every three years. You will play at least you'll have a game against every other school at least every three years and that is better than what we have now, which is once every six years for those schools who aren't in your division or is it what are your isn't your permanent partner right so here's the way it shakes out for the locals for the four schools in the state of North Carolina for NC State. Give me more textile balls. Yes, state Clemson will meet every year to give state devastate fans and props are the second estate gets Carolina Duke and Clemson every year. Carolina fans. Once they get the surprisingly look. We haven't played it out yet, so maybe that would take. But surprisingly, state fans, a bit like yeah bring it on all ride.

I am here for that false bravado show me your competitive side love it really do too good for good for Dave Dorn. It is clear they have elevated to the point where the league wants them to play Clemson every year. This reminds me of when Maryland at Duke were permanent partners. They were Maryland Duke was that not Duke and state do get Maryland you know why because that was the game you had to see every year.

Yeah those two schools waged war, and it was awesome.

It was great television Gary Williams Micah Jesse José Blake days yet we know what we should get Julius Hodge come on to talk about the book that's Blake against the Duke look. Those were amazing.

It and I understood why the league wanted to highlight those but of course Maryland Duke in merely the rivalry is to state or whatever.

So we got Carolina Virginia to play the Southold South's oldest rivalry every year. Carolina will also get Duke and state Duke will get Carolina state and wake Duke will play the rest of the state. Wake Forest shifted here. The lease for instated, but as you Duke every year, but then you get Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech like we could get 1/3. I just just just doesn't work out, that's fine. But again, because you get every at least every third year, you get both of them. One of one of the other. It's all right here is the only thing I would've changed the only thing I would've changed is that I would've done the five school in 015 school group in year one, and then next year.

The other five school group and then run it back with the first group of five and then the other group is alternating. I would've alternated the years, but it probably makes it easier for home and the homes and all of that to be to be scheduled and what it what it but find that's that's just picking nits. But again, the important thing is you'll never go three years without playing conference school all right dead still just an eight game ACC schedule.

I think that's important to know and Notre Dame is still in the mix and I saw state has Notre Dame on the schedule again proudly state fans and this will make it a lot easier when your best nonconference games. BYU sleep. I'm just I'm just getting are you sure sure can we talk about opting in, so Tyree Irving leverage play failed to Irving was trying to convince the Brooklyn Nets to give a contract extension. He presented the club's got one year left a player option. About 36 million he had he presented the club with a list of six teams which, to which he would approve a sign and trade, and the nets were like get ahead. Find out who wants you and what they want in exchange for you.

I will try to work on the day.

Isn't it great when they call your bluff so that took all I do know six hours works and Tyree Irving decided to update, Bobby marks ESPN's NBA front office insider and any time a player returns and you and you can't work out an agreement as far as what one was looking to do.

Irving was looking to doing it on the last year of his contract and expiring contract.

He can become a free agent next off-season that always kind of the trade question will always linger out there for him. I think certainly you'd love to see what this roster looks like, October and Simmons is healthy and you have to rant on this team, so I just thought it was a business decision that he saw with the landscape of this market was and didn't figure you know what I did. The risk of becoming a free-agent in the week was just too high. Is Tyree Irving, a reliable player. The nets would've already re-signed into a max deal and if they decided or if he decided that he wanted to be elsewhere would've engineered a side entry because suitors would have been lining up, he is simply one of the most talented players we have ever seen. But sometimes it ain't worth and that is the problem now.

Would Bobby marks said there is important because there still will be a market for Tyree if he gets off to a good start if he is determined to be healthy both physically and emotionally. And because of that Brian would harvest of ESPN is like this item in the wake of the agreement. I kind of thought it might've been a I don't want to call it a win for them.

That's good. I don't think there's any winners here, but I think it turned down the heat in at least The nets with two star players with all of their options for next year alive, and boy was that not what some people agents executives. I talked to thought.

They don't think this is over no it's it's not over, Sean Marks, who runs the nets is GM.

I guess, is that we can still try. That's a big winner here because all their options are still open and if they do keep in not to say that 36 million or whatever the number is is cheap but for a max player 36 millions country. That's what Tyree is going to be a lot cheaper than what the Lakers are well paid Russell Westbrook this upcoming season. That is the other opt in shocking Russell Westbrook didn't feel like he would've gotten $47 million on the open market. So he opted in on his one.

The one year remaining on his deal 47.1 million. I don't want to short shrift the. The additional 100,000 Josh. That's a lot of money to not be great at this, just not the same.

He's he's just not the same.

That's unfortunate back in the day.

It might've been might've worked out not working out as is golden studio in Monico Street capital financial advisory group.

Speaking of something that didn't work out yesterday. The hockey Hall of Fame screwed up again.

They did not elect Rod Brind'Amour to the Hall of Fame.

They elected some wonderful wonderful hockey players none of whom were better than Rod Brind'Amour but we'll get to that with the authority a Hall of Famer himself, Chuck Kate voice of hockey.

I appreciate your time sir, is it. Is it true that 1484 games 1184 points nine times a 25 or more goal scores six times a 70 point or more contributor to time silky award winner Stanley Cup champion captain of that team should have been const. Mike was not good enough to get in the Hall of Fame, and a lot of them.

I am just flabbergasted here and very supportive and I'll throw some others. Right now you really done your homework, but here I got some more things for our listeners in seven games Stanley Cup finals since 1998 nobody nobody has played more minutes than Rod Brind'Amour. You realize that another one. All 44 players with 50 or more points playing 14 or more seasons, and by the way Ron Francis is number one on this list all log Brind'Amour are or will be projected into the hockey Hall of Fame number one all-time face-off percentage in regular-season play number three all time and play golf, face-off percentage, and I started keeping notes that the 1990 what you're saying with all the other accolades times representatives concrete Canada different world stages from the world juniors to the world championships for the Olympics. I mean I just don't understand is how he didn't get and I know he was nominated and I know that the personal nominated him on the committee is a very dear friend of mine and I certainly influence on the one she thinks like we do it like a lot of work, a branch to justifiably show them the name. Not sure even burning in previous year I had a conversation Chuck Kate is joining us here in the China conversation.

I think it was last year. It might've been two years ago when Jim Rutherford went in and I texted and and you used your close with Jim close with Jim and I texted and I might how is he not in yet and Jim assured me. Be patient. He will get in and I texted him yesterday I was ice I said what are your thoughts, do you think will get it. He says I am optimistic that he will get in this time apparently no more optimism will work. My question is if Jean Carbonell is in the Hall of Fame with 663 points basically appoint every other game for his career and he's in there because of his defensive acumen and if Patrice Bergeron is referred to as a first ballot Hall of Famer and I'm not even arguing how is Rod Brind'Amour not already in like unless geek Carbonell was no three times.

Ozzie Smith, then there's no way getting that much better than Rod defensively to wear the fact that Rod has twice as many points doesn't get them in the Hall of Fame know you're absolutely right that that's unfathomable and I watched both these gentlemen you sold everybody except sure but anyway don't geek Carbonell was applying two-way player, no doubt about it. But no, there's no way that Robert Amore takes a backseat, or Patrice Bergeron and I do agree with you that Bergeron will probably be the first ballot Hall of Famer. If you want to retire. Five for another year or years from now. But anyway, simply by belief plays them to work with the members of the Hall of Fame selection. I don't know all 18 members with a court protection 14 of the 18 to rubberstamp UN but this recent sleep biases getting I think a little ridiculous.

There no disrespect to Daniel Alfredson but among this year's potential inductees in November.

That's the one I would question in terms it should be Rod Brind'Amour, Daniel Alfred said, in my humble Daniel Aldridge never wanted Stanley Cup. Nevermind character because I understand that Daniel offered to the block Brind'Amour to wonderful off-price character For their team know that's probably an even call right, but you just cited this with the beginning of this interview just blow people away a lot and it's just mind-boggling for you there. But I certainly concur with you and Mr. Rutherford is the thing about this to Dean's announcements and then maybe we should change Rod's name to Rod Brind'Amour's his son given to asses and make them Swedish because he would get a I loved all three of those players who got in. I'm not sure this deems our first ballot. If they're not twins because I am not sure either of them are better than Rod any way, but no, maybe because they're twins and they went to in three and they played their entire careers in Vancouver. They get ability for this action. Is it possible that were dealing with a hurricanes anti-pushback that no how can somebody who's like recognizing now for being a Carolina hurricane be in the Hall of Fame. Is that possible I don't think so. I mean I really I don't believe that. I think that he had certainly the makings of a very distinguished career before 2000. What are you going to change with his time in Philadelphia. I mean after all Stanley Cup finals part of the flyer team. The lost with the card in 1997. So I think that the now he's putting the Carolina hurricanes further on the map for the last, and I know that the client career path.

I shook my head and can't understand why or how much titillation he was given to this knowing was mom talked about in but I don't know how far it went and I don't know how he could use closed-door discussions become atoms among the 18 members of the Hall of Fame man it's it's sad because you and I both know Rod pretty well. I don't think it's not it.

He's not to lose sleep over it. He's not one that really cares all that much about his own legacy. In that regard, but he knows he's good enough and when you know you're good enough, it can't help but be somewhere in the back of your mind, and he deserves to get in and I want that for me is as good a person as I know in the sport itself just as you are absolutely echo all of those completely I mean you can't find a better guy. I guess the silver lining to this is the unfortunately will have something to rightfully complain about when it comes to Hall of Fame selection. This continues I mean I again I'm very very supplies that it is gone this long we have to talk about this almost every year Ottoman.

I certainly appreciate the opportunity to vent about your likes a lot better than I could. I lead you on the committee conferred on the committee. We need friends Rod on the committee real quick before I let you go.

Chuck's somebody asked me this. It's good to be a subject for a podcast in the very near future and I might even reach out to you to discuss it. What are the next couple of numbers that go in the rafters revert he got 1710 and two Rod Ron Francis and Glenn Wesley, one of the next couple of numbers 12 get to go up for Eric stall 30 for cam Ward. Is there another while on me that that's a real good question.

I certainly both those guys deserve numbers in the rafters and after that spot thinking about other players that the distinction it's really funny that we talk about overtired numbers, but I knew I would have no argument with that.

I think down the line. Depending on what happens in the future will somehow or possibly when the mother's family, all under the captaincy of a guy like Jordan. Yeah, obviously. Someday your project like to think number 20 will go into the rafters of astronomical. I wouldn't have any qualms welcome to best appreciate your time. I will talk to you very soon. Hall of Famer in his own right, and well-deserved for you. Talk to you down the road thank you, Adam.

I appreciate it Victor so mad yesterday was going to happen, but I was mad to talk more about it. Rod Brind'Amour will be fine, but he should be in the Hall of Fame.

June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak.

Figuring it out on the fly became 25th anniversary of the presented by the Carolina listen to the break. Find out what's going on with the Washington commandos. I will never call them the commanders. It's funny Pro football reference.com which is a great website for just for raw data. They still list the team is the Washington football team as they should have stayed. Grant Paulson from 1067 the fan in DC.

Follow him on Twitter at Grant H.

Paulson, I'm sorry. Even if I were in your position. I would never call them the commanders they would always be the commandos. It probably has something to do with the owner probably died, I would say look about him. Yeah it interesting. I think a lot of and in various emotions and feelings about this mean some people still call them the Redskins and some people I'm sure will stick with Washington football team. Very few people have any vacation to her interest in her care for the commanders yet, but if they win, I'm sure than that'll take hold it at some point. My think is kind of always been. I call them whatever their named people started referring to them as Washington when they were there, then Redskins I would still call them that people would be upset that I wasn't doing the Peter King thing where I stop saying the word and my point was him and I'm not here to advocate for anything. I'm just talking about a football team and that's her name right now so I'm gonna make commanders.

It's really weird and it sounds odd and I still have to think about it twice before I said every time but I believe that our concern is that there is there's no question about it to playoff wins in the 23 years of the Dan Snyder era, and I know that there are very few people, if any, who are pro-owner in many places. Washington used to be me there owner Jack Kent Cooke was beloved mean he was. They loved Jack Kent Cooke in the DC area get me letting grow up there but I went to school there lived there for 10 years Jack and cooking that franchise was all about the heritage franchise. It's become somewhat embarrassing but somewhat very embarrassing for the NFL. You just asked the fans essentially why, why do you remain a fan of this team. What was the reaction of that vaccinating. Honestly because my answer to that.

And now in the me to wear a different hat. I know that we can talk to traditional fan birthday week. We can wear different hats on different days I get. I have memories of my mom sent me on her lap. On Sunday, which was the Redskins day. At that time watching gains in the early to mid 90s.

My earliest memories of demon 34 are after they were good. They went three and 13 and basically the 30+ years now of ineptitude, mediocrity, and they won one playoff game now in the 2000 essentially self.

If you're my age. Think about that. Like mid 30s or younger.

That's it. You know this team to be used in a work color. They were a landmark organization that they they were one of the great teams in the National Football League organizations was the envy of the sport in the mid to late 80s and early 90s, and you just don't have any file on your younger most people say it like sports and they like their local teams. And that's the end of it, or even memory that they have of going to parades or that it meant something that you know that report that next algia relationship with a parent or grandparent impact on the love of the team is kind of what keeps them coming back to the well but universally what we kinda came to was none of the reason that anyone supports this team is gone by the team that kind of lucky to have this juggernaut that is an NFL organization, the billion-dollar entity that the drug people are hooked on that they need in their veins and so they keep coming back to the well and and asking for more. Despite the fact that Dan Snyder is completely run this thing into the ground.

They were dead last in attendance last year and you look at the percentage of butts in seats metric with the Detroit Lions just like the thing to be looking at TV numbers locally or just the interest on on the airwaves that you would not have fathomed even five or seven or eight years ago in the 20 years into them thinking and and a lot of it is not just that they're not good on the football field.

It's expected this thing for Dan Snyder just keeps growing.

I was there during the 80s and the Super Bowl titles in the Gibbs era and again the end of the Jack can cook era and I remember this is before me. ESPN was a thing but I wouldn't have no 500 channels and basically every night of the week every single night of the week. There was at least a 30 minute sometimes in our dedicated show to Washington would want playbook rewind ghetto covered this every single day home team sports probably had three of them, you're probably too young to even remember him team sports.

But it was essentially a member well read and read it right getting out of my memory.

That was the kind owned of the regional coverage on TV and town of the then Redskins. The Orioles are a member well I was friends with Tom Davison to Fernandez, a friend of mine now Mindy here and I went to college together when they hired Ron Rivero tie with gram-positive the fan in DC when they hired Ron Rivera. I think Ron is a good coach. I don't think Ron is a great coach, but I think Ron is a great man and his exist was exactly what this organization needed a solid citizen of the face of the franchise because the owner just can't be at this point, but has Rivera been able to mask the smell of that franchise made a valiant effort. I would like but now I mean that there is nothing that a head coach and even one like cameras off of the GM and also the president of football operations that there's nothing that they can do their not winning to reverse the trend here frankly and Rivera one.

They had a division title when they went seven and nine in the worst division and all its first year with a really soft schedule and a bunch of backup quarterbacks that they meet that was completely fraudulent and I went seven and 10 last year to Rivera himself, and that for straight losing seasons and 56 and while he is beloved and I really like and appreciated Meyer the guy think if you said he's a terrific human being and three winning seasons and 11 years. I don't think there's another coach in league history, three winning seasons and 11 years and had a 12 year on the resume, let alone one that's beloved and ranked in the top 10 and you just don't hear anyone for a negative word about Ron Rivera based on the result.

I can tell you that they went 15 and 11 can put them on his shoulders had been with the MVP of the league, but other than that again or talk about two winning seasons out of 10. Other years, and a Coke. So where does that all come from. I think it's because he's a nice guy and he has good relationships in the media. Anything you know he's a decent human being to deal with in NX great and he has largely I think help them culturally because he's a people person who treat people well done things that are supposed to be done with the case here for a long time, but they have to win.

How I think that the pendulum swings ultimately and right now they could do something smart or well or good or decent with some decorum and it's still kind of like an eye roll thing all at you guys are just trying to work. They make a move end of the patriots make a move in love with the patriots to hate the same thing that the commanders that because of the commander for the blood of the jokes think that I think is frankly to win Ben Albright off the phone for Rivera either and he brought an trainer here was rated by the DEA no longer has a job he hired Jack del Rio who is fine for $100,000 last week for a couple weeks ago from for saying something wacky you know he keeps saying judges on right now, not before I got here but how much you want to jump on right and perfect for him either the reverse carwash is kind of what is meant that for a long time he came in with a really really nice clean car and the goal is always to drive at a carwash cleaner and most people don't and I'm hoping for him that he can swing this thing around, but got work to do. Going into your three asking about the team in the second and I think there are some good things about this team. Jack del Rio things shake out. You met you alluded to leave his $500,000 by his boss and the bosses, Ron Rivera, that coach for me, the worst part wasn't calling what happened on January 6 the dustup it was that he essentially mocked 70% or more of his locker room who were in support of black lives matter because that to me. Inside the locker room is the much bigger deal then whatever his thoughts are on what happened January 1 of last year so the lock on fairly short time on that but offensively Jack del Rio has on social media been very active and very opinionated for a long time and he made the decision between a bunch of hot political takes right right where he was stepping up to the podium, which I found fairly egregious anyway and it was the one time during the off-season.

Essentially, where he talks and I just I he wanted to be asked about it or if he just didn't think about it or doesn't care but find them $100,000 basically for being a distraction.

Now I don't condone or agree with what Jack del Rio said.

For the record, I guess my personal opinion doesn't matter what the precedent of finding an employee for saying something you don't like $100,000 after no one's been so the story here was not only that Jack del Rio said this thing that most people perceived to be insane, but also not just mean the specifics of what he said but you're in Washington DC where lives were lost right people were personally affected in your being utterly insensitive by Giving you the benefit of the doubt. And on top of that now this becomes a multiweek conversation where Ron Rivera makes this big statement in and find you hundred thousand dollars and it doesn't come from the team he comes from Rivera and the whole thing was just really strange and it was at the same time as were talking about Dan Snyder and whether or not to go invest the House oversight committee and be grilled by then. He's got allegations against him personally about for allegedly touching former employees and then the 40+ women came forward to allege the toxic workplace and all this is happening at the same time and again that I will reiterate Ron Rivera is pleading like talk about us right now.

Right now, so it's just a matter of multi-ring circus and it just seems to never leave town and testifies never to step foot on M positive lock the people. He said all of the week. I think he's right about how we can fight the subpoena, but that's it. That's a different topic of conversation actually could have that with somebody else later on is Carson Wentz will close on this is Carson Wentz guy I might allow the flow of light and went. 41 is an improvement from Taylor Reineke link is a dramatic upgrade from the QB to who was there full-time starter last year after Fitzpatrick went down in the first quarter of writing one.

He will be. I believe their most talented. Probably their best quarterback and give them the chance to have the most success on offense that they had since Kirk cousins the last group of 4000 yards year 2017 left and so I think they've gotten better at the most important position. He is somewhere around a top 20 quarterback in the NFL is not elite. He's not going to carry them around in weapons with her trying to they've got a wide receiver wanted McLaurin spent on you guys know Curtis Daniels are all last year. They're counting on him to be healthy and productive. They drafted John Dr. than the first round, the wideout from Penn State was been tremendous. This off-season I got a good backfield with Antonio Gipson and now thumper.

They distracted at an Alabama what a good career in the FEC Brian Robinson and they got a great pass catcher and Katie McKissick got of the fixed-rate offense of line. According to PFF last year and they had a couple guards to replace the two guards left today. Think of the middle of the pack on the old line so I think Wentz will be fine. I don't think he's going to hold them back. The one thing I'll say really quickly for people listening is Washington schedule is softer than toilet paper they have arguably the easiest schedule in the NFL this year and this is a statistical method for anecdotally saying that I actually believe they're going to go over there when total and I think they could even win upwards of 10 games that could link that when in the playoffs or make a deep Ron, again I think are pretty pedestrian, but I'm totally look at the schedule he opened Jacksonville and Detroit connect a nice little foray into what they've got to hear the down division in a down conference so do not be surprised if there are nine or 10 when team even if it means that they're not particularly great Cottonelle Charmin request softer quilted will do that. I think it's double like the two pilot version have to be posted on Twitter at grade H Paulson from 1067 fan in DC. I thank you very much for the time I will talk soon.

My pleasure to get to know you got this is the gold shell June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became presented by the Carolina listen
