I got a set off of the game last night going into the game. Football wise.

I thought the bangles and when I thought the Bengals would cover the number if it was just the way that this game played on out without any injuries.

We probably would not be talking about this game right out of the gate because Cincinnati was expected to win. They were, the more desperate team Miami, three in all and you look at the Dolphins short week on the road.

It set a feeling that the Dolphins were due to lose and the bangles aren't as bad of a team.

The way that they played through the first three now four weeks of the season so for them to get the two into.

I think it's fitting because this bangles team that a magical run last year. 10 they get back into the playoffs this year absolutely be disappointing if they don't because you have such a good quarterback and Job are you three really good weapons as you saw last night. T Higgins or Mark Chase, Tyler Boyd, I know Joe Mixon having time getting opportunities at the goal line and not put the ball in the late in the game and have a solid defense as well. So that's a bangles team that is ultimate comes down to how much can you protect the quarterback in Joe Borough and I like to see our talk about this team for five weeks from now when this this offense align you to get some games together under their belt and hopefully they can improve the protection of Joe Bob. Let's not sugarcoat this the biggest story from that game is what happened with two at Tonga by Lola and we were reacting to it last night on the air as it happened and it was terrific. It was scary and you look at the actual hit. I've seen more violent hits. I've seen more violent pronouns.

I didn't think that was a malicious throwdown.

It was a normal football play when you have a defensive lineman taking down the quarterback by when you see the aftermath of what occurred. Yeah it's frightening when he is lying on the field to a Tonga by Lola and his hands locked up like that you that something that I have never seen. Now I know that people say it's common and that is the fencing mechanism as the way that they described it, and that's what happens when you have a brain injury like that your hands do lock up, but in an NFL game. We see concussions all the time we seen tackles of a quarterback player standup fall down all the time, but to see how quickly his hands locked like that.

I can't remember seeing something like that in an isolated game as well that's another thing that plays into the equation. That was the only game that was on last night only NFL game that was on last night and it's not just this week.

It's also what happened last week and let me preface this right out of the gate. I have an opinion I'm not a doctor, so anyone that Twitter will ensure your opinion thought through the professional sure what you're allowed to have a human reaction. I'm not sitting here saying that I know more. Then the doctors are. I know more than the medical experts but I can only take it from the way that I view it as a fan and I give you my reaction and that's why you tune into the show. But last week and this is where it starts was last week when he fell down. After standing back up against the Buffalo Bills by member saying I am football easy to be done for the day and when they released that statement always questionable to return a questionable is not returning the guy up against the Buffalo Bills to the below chart standup and he fell right back down and quickly is yet half time and income. Another half he was back on the field. I was shocked that he got back in the field. Now you have to clear concussion protocol and there is an independent neurologist and there is also team Dr. that undergo tests and they somehow pass them so last week, according to the doctors. He did have a concussion and then after the game, you hear all that was a back injury, or they tried to cover it up or tell you what genuinely happened that it was a back injury, and I remember Hickey and I earlier this week grabbed this conversation to you by the back injury and if he passed the concussion test like party goes well, maybe it was a back injury, but your eyes told you something else and when you watch that last week absolutely. It looks like the player that suffered a concussion. So when I see that last week and he quickly get back in the field but you know we had the past concussion protocol as a fan I just question and as a fan I wonder what is the actual protocol to prove that you don't have a concussion. You can return to the game and is it that easy to get back on the field, even in an era now we have a heightened awareness for player safety. This is not 1980. This not 1990 the sub nearly 2000 where you can just sweep player safety under the rug. Now with the with the lawsuits have gone out and have played out the NFL and I citizen" they appear to care about player safety.

We know what they care about the most, and that is the amount of money that they're making each and every year in this multibillion-dollar industry. That is the NFL. So last week. It was stunning that he was back on the field but you can't remember.

He played the entire second half anomaly played played a really good level.

You remember the third down throw on third and 22 the jail model so leading into this week and it's a short week, you still saw what happened last week, but there was no doubt in my mind that you always get a play on Thursday because he returned to the game on Sunday and he was cleared of having the concussion he clear concussion protocol, but then last night while he's playing we see that it we see him go down and he did not stand back up, he had to get carried off and scary fashion on a stretcher so the main thing that I wonder is how was he actually cleared last week because I know I did feel this way the entirety of last week. I mixed feelings in the lead up to the skin this week but had to had a concussion last week right and maybe they need to change their protocols were. If you at any time during the game are wobbly or you look like you're about to fall over and he was fallen over but you just don't simply return last night it got taken to a different level and I was shocked last night when I'm watching this game on Amazon prime and the sideline reporter gets on the loop. The screen goes okay is going to a level I trauma center, which expected in the hospital. All that and then there was a report later on the game and sometime in the fourth quarter that he's getting discharged from the level I trauma center is expected to fly back with the team that will give you all that is a world class level I trauma center, right, that goes without even needing a needing to be set. I am not a doctor. I don't pretend to be a doctor, but my human reaction last night was yet doesn't make sense with what I saw on the field a few hours ago and need to get carried up a stretcher in the way that his hands locked up. Not only is he getting discharged, but he's going back on the plane and the reason why the plane thing stood out is because I remember the Mets with Ryan Church. He got on the plane and he thought it ruined his career because he had a concussion and that's what I was thinking last night I tweeted out I my exactly was, I'm not a doctor getting on the plane, though. Tonight has major Ryan Church vibes and it doesn't make sense now. I'm sure that there was medical reasons in the hospital that's gave him that gave those doctors enough to say you're good to leave, and obviously you're good enough to go fly back but I was kinda stunned by it. Last night, and all I could do is just sit back, watch or I see unfold and give you my reaction and my feelings on the matter. That's all I could do so, yes, last week shocked. He was cleared to get back in the game up against the bills this week. I was not surprised that he was applying because he returned last week in the second half, up against Buffalo. That gave Miami but when he goes down and he could not move and he had to get carried off in a structured hands locked up like that if you would've told me in that moment what we were looking at it that he would get back on the plane that night and fly back with the team. I would never have believed you in a million years. So what happened last night. It's scary.

It's awful Mike McDaniel at the game said people know the risk when you play football but no one signs up to have what happened last night go down but last night was not a good look for the NFL and injuries are part of this game but there's just obvious questions that you have to ask and you wonder how did this guy get approved return last week with what we saw and then also in the game last night when you think maybe it's back to back concussions, even though he clear concussion protocol last week.

Just wonder why was he put in that spot to be in the field last night but once again you go back to the point that he returned last week, so I'm not saying this is an easy situation and I'm not even blaming Mike McDaniel at some people there like all fire Mike McDaniel he's a coach Mike McDaniel gets told by the medical staff is a good to go were not and they say he's a no go.

He can't put him on the field and on Thursday, and even Ron Fitzpatrick said last night he did an interview with two of was that Wednesday for like two hours and grinds a doctor. He alluded to that afterwards and on the broadcast on Amazon prime.

But he said it seem like he was the normal to a tongue that I love so it's a weird spot.

It's a bizarre spot and you just have to react with the way that that you kinda feel, but the bottom line is it's not a good look for the NFL because it looked like he had a concussion on Sunday and we know we had a concussion last night and you wonder when you get into any of these player safety conversations how much the NFL actually cares about player safety that you give me a thought on this 855-2124 CBS Ava five 212-4227 year but I just have the last 1314 minutes allowed another voice into the conversation what so you would happen unless Alvis is very unfortunate. I guess my thing is I don't really fold the NFL or the Dolphins. It just it's kind of one of those things would happen. She was cleared.

They have a protocol in place by all intents and purposes, protocol will was use and to a past it is unfortunate like we tried before. I think you concussion on Sunday so I think he's playing us. I with a concussion. With that said, the doctors say he didn't the doctor say he could play give an independent neurologist as part of the decision-making crew to take out of the decision or not have as much team in Fuzhou making the decision Bristol team.

Dr. Ball the matter my checks and balances.

There is independent neurologist so yesterday.

A lot of the reaction was, I carefully benefited the stereo.

They should be. You know this is bad luck for them back to the Dolphins except fire Mike McDaniel is unfortunate to see it happen right. I don't have.

This is what I quite am faulting a filtering output to be clear, because I do agree with what some of what you're saying. My question is, maybe we need to revise. Or maybe we need to take a stronger look and will have Drew Trinkle come on is not about player.

So I asked him about the protocol, but all we know about the protocol is you have to get approved independent neurologist and a team doctor, Andrew Whitworth last night said that response, he returned and he knew that he had a concussion like you know like he felt that something wasn't right, but he was able to pass the test because players if you give them the option there that apply there going to a lot of players 9 to 10 players to play because that's the mentality so I just wonder is the protocol effective because like you said you thought you concussion last week so I and then he's able to pass the test to get back on the field.

It's like and I'm not a doctor on the answers here, but how effective is the test room watch and say not to concussion and the guy can't even walk off the field and the next thing you know he's back in the second. So that's my main question on this matter on, and the thing I don't know is right. It can even strengthen the protocol of hire no idea. So it's like sure sign, we can say change it. I don't know how I don't know if there's even a way it's unfortunate head injuries of the one area the braille of the body. You read no idea. But you know it's like or don't have enough information on and if it was just the team doctor then you could call into question absolutely paid by the team. The independent neurologist. I don't think is good to say what we gotta do what's best for the NFL, which is get to on the field and pass them when he clearly does have a concussion. You want to get on line 855-2124 CBS 855-212-4227 will allow you to voice your opinion on the two in Tonga by low situation. Knowledge get to you.

855-2124 CBS 855-212-4227 we start things off in Virginia with Jake whose first up on the set Guild show. Jake was happening another month to pick up my call. Yeah so I want to begin my book on the sidewalk listening to the radio broadcast night. What we want other yeah what I thought I was really disgusted by because I love you man like he should've never even played the second half of Buffalo because all of you concussion. Then I met the man you got sick and died as a horrible look for the bill and like on the radio broadcast of you who in the body, but even they said yeah this is a horrible work for the on us, the question here. What is things like we see what went down last night. Appreciate the phone call Jake and right away. Everyone's reaction is. It's awful. It's terrible. Who do we hold responsible for but I don't know and I don't know if anyone gets fired from this because here's the thing. Last week he had to clear and I thought for sure was a concussion. The moment but he had to can clear concussion protocol from an independent neurologist and that a team doctor and Mike McDaniel said last night and reiterated today that even though it was a short week on Monday Tuesday Wednesday was further testing and he said there was no head injury last week that you may not believe that I totally get what you want to believe that because we all saw what happened in that Buffalo game where he stands up any shaking his head and touching his head and then needed to be helped off the field so it's tough to believe that was a back injury. When you step aside. A few days later and fully examine it.

Yeah, it's tough to believe it's a back injury, but the doctors are saying that he's he's good to go and he doesn't have a concussion.

I can't fault Mike McDaniel in the Dolphins for them playing him because the medical professionals who are more intelligent than all of us. They said he didn't have a concussion and he was good to return. So that's the complicated part and you hear the excuse of the back you get here at the back injury, and then you watch what transpired last night and last night's hands are locked up and that was just the scary thing like we paused and I couldn't believe what I was watching and we know that this is a violent sport go to Alex in Oregon. Next up in the second child's go-ahead back to you in a while. I wanted to talk about. PowerPoint – that get with the back of the head concussion at about one of those about it being minute I was in the same thing is to all going around everything down. I was fine and you can I like an old person, but then the next day I had no balance or coordination. I lost it for like two months.

Secondly, I'm a big NASCAR fan. I can imagine you are but yeah, I do not watch much NASCAR there was an I watch NASCAR lose when the pandemic first started I was the only thing on and I decided to place a few dollars in NASCAR and care about it for a few weeks ago. How are your your New York City backyard anyway. There's been a couple of and the way that now start dealt with it that needed you ghetto a waiver like like injury waiver and fill in the NFL. When you when you know players want to play because you like a lower-level guy got way to get that game checker incentives or whatever words and I further know they're not losing anything that so now the responsibility goes down to the driver to where they know they can afford that. How to raise that they're not below it, and how just that. But I concussion this past weekend that the dame a look that bad in the comparison that the crap you see in the erect and he drove the rest of the race event. Two days later he goes to the doctor and is out for this weekend. That's the part that I'm confused about this explained the okay so earlier in the guy had a concussion and without or 4 acres but he had already won a race was going to tell NASCAR and grant him the waiver and then play out, throw around that I'm still not right waived his right to the waiver. Basically, the waiver is there and you know in the place of it. Injury that is on the part of NASCAR salt which have been than that. It is therefore for the driver to take advantage of that NASCAR gives an opportunity to still get paid is when you say yeah no race. Yes, the person and I don't get with the waiver does what is the waiver do here all the way. All like okay you're not getting any point in the driver for this race but that waiver will go on later will exclude that rate or you trying to say. I was glad I don't know what that how that relates to that. The conversation turns the NFL on how we could maybe change the protocol here, but here's the bottom line if you leave it in the hands of the player.

Nine times out of 10 the players get to go out in the field imply if he told you to get on the field. I don't know with what we saw last week.

How you could how he passed testing. I'd always does make sense to me is clearly wobbly and independent neurologist editing Dr. said that you have a concussion. So it's like what it did do what to do in a spot like that plan Scott in California. Next up, got the lead time and I'm not really wanted.

I thought and I don't believe that they put them out too quickly. They do a lot of the one Dr. like a flashlight new guy and a girl and for you know much what I thought that rock so it would be helpful that I'm out there too early, but all that to worry and maybe we need to talk to the Miami Dolphins line or the doctor not the protocol.

It's been a blame on the offense of line you need to be thrown to the ground hard and it did last night was all that bad in and taking hits. It's part of the game so you you if you can assail the offense.

I need to protect them better. Sure every offense. I need to protect the quarterback better but I'm not blind on the offense of line last night. I don't think that's very fair or very reasonable, but the thing is yeah and I'll keep on saying this all sound like a broken record player. What we saw last week was a guy that could not stand up straight and he was somehow cleared to get on the field in the second half.

I just wonder what made the doctors say that he was good and did not have a concussion and is it possible that he did have a concussion last week. It's possible, but then what you saw last night. We know was a concussion and when you see it locked his hands locked up like that.

Maybe it was one isolated incident where that could happen, but it's impossible when you see last night not to think about last week where he leaves the game do not think he comes back and then does return to the contest so there was never a doubt in my mind this week that leading up to it. He was get a plate using plastic wrap up against Buffalo.

But it is also tough for me to say he didn't have a concussion last week, but I'm not the doctor. The doctor said he was good to go. If item that's what happens if the team gets told by the medical staff. He's good to go.

I appreciate you jumping on today for a few minutes right before you guys get set to have little battle against the Texans this weekend.

I know you're talking about Q collar today.

A big top your conversation with the aftermath of what occurred last night.

The football game.

Just tell me little bit about Q collar absolutely permit an outer layer of protection that you're going to give me the most competent going out there that I'm doing the most to protect my best of my abilities and obviously repeat things like what happened with two that will be an honor and injury to happen in every day on the gridiron every Sunday. It certainly every time you know you type school, college athletes are stepping on the field but we can do the most to protect our brain helmet on the best equipment, you know that's always advantageous correctly. I know that more than a dozen fellow players are currently playing with Q collar which is applying slight pressure devices for the jugular vein via the neck of the Q collar gently increases blood volume inside the head producing the brains movement. Upon impact, which is the primary cause of the brain injury had you come across this and why did you think it was the best thing for you to wear first word at Notre Dame back in 2016 when they were just coming out with the product and godlike leaks equally were were testing it in our football team at Notre Dame was trying it out but I was aware of the Q collar. I felt like from a performance standpoint, there were some needed improvement for you. I wanted to wear in the game and they certainly address those over the past year heading into the season. I was very interested in wearing the device and protecting my head on the week from the Chargers here with us.

How did you react to what we saw last night to it's on the bylaw and the Dolphins bangles. This really. We also happened a week earlier and the player's perspective is difficult. Anytime a guy gets hurt you feel warm when we play a high impact game were you know injuries are inevitable but when it comes to the head talk to you that they let them go back on the field last week after what we saw as a player in the heat of the battle.

Your instinctive fight or flight. You're gonna want to go back and you don't want to say I'm good but it's unfortunate that the they let him go back and stand and obvious that impact seeing him stumble around and then we see the aftermath. You know what can happen when we met, you know his left not taking care of you know and unfortunately were down last night supposedly the new gut feeling is extremely ill.

Well department that what our hopes are. But you do feel bad for the kid. So Dr. obviously and I would never try to pretend to be one but as a fan and just watching this or just any human being like last week I was shocked when he returned to the game like what is it what you specially have to do to clear concussion protocol because I was shocked how quickly got back on the field last week where I am not familiar with the with the concussion protocol.

Like you said. I'm not a medical expert either. I've never had to go through that again. From what I understand that that you would, and there's a point to take of players coming in with our interim physical, and I think they you do a quick test in the compare that to your baseline. I think the doctors look at your eyes and the other dilating, and there's just a few standard probably balance that he went through a lot of it it when it comes to concussions is so subjective and so the players. I'm good I'm good I'm good and the doctors plan wall between things seem to be checking out did not have a ton of delight right now and you can get players that you know into going back in the game with managers. I know he returned last week like were talking about.

He clearly played in the game last night on a Thursday night game we surprised that he played on Thursday last night I was back after watching the video, stumbling after didn't last week I was surprised that I just not surprised that that the fact of who it seems to be a really tough kid and obviously desires to be out there and and and and be playing with his teammates, but I was surprised to go to tranquil Veritas charges going up against the Texans this Sunday 1 o'clock in Houston, going back to last week what happened. How do you kind of look back on that loss to the Jaguars where vacuum is really one-sided in favor of Jacksonville Roebling.

We we played really poorly really and all, all three phases.

We had areas where we could have improved. I thought we did anything well but we gotta think Agnew there. There were Turner among special-teams but if you look at often the defense of a way to theater to make more big plays Jacksonville Batesville plate look at the 50 yard touchdown run on third quarter you look at the four turnovers they had on and they really just dominated football games that we know we can play a lot better on the wood certainly shown that we can practice and were looking forward to the opportunity to go get a Sunday afternoon.

Did you at all in the preparation. Maybe the Jaguars a little bit you think that played a factor into things so I think you come up to division game there. The atmosphere is a little bit different. On Sunday I think at the end of the day. We knew Jacksonville had a great defense.

We knew they had a good offense with an efficient quarterback that had been playing a lot better through Q games than he did last year and I think they just they expose that when they played really really well. He played good football, we did not play well enough on defense or often when the ballgame to tranquil here with us for a few more moments I was a big believer in this team not to jump off ship after three games.

I thought you guys are when Nancy West this year. That was my pick before the year was the mentality of this team right now since you're in that locker room after guys got that week one victory but then the last two weeks.

It hasn't gone in your favor will unit we felt like we were really cool.

Candace. Couple place your couple plate there and the movie looks completely different. We week did not care about football last week on the new and we've certainly been battling some injury here. We got guys you know planters so we got guys that gone down or be out for a while, I know we got a resilient group, we gotta keep group when you look at, you know what to let us go in and post daily if done with building a roster. We got up, and were overly optimistic about the guys you can have on the field this Sunday. I'm in and we like our chances to go out there and play a lot better football than we did last week. Some years team just get hit with an injury dog and we saw that last year with Baltimore.

You talked about the injuries were Sean Slater is out for the year. Joey bonuses now get a miss a lot of time Herbert. I know we had a full participation practice the other day but he's been banged up Keenan Allen out this weekend is that all cross your mind that man, like maybe this is just the year the that were getting hit with the injury bug and it could derail the season who all will know that your mindset is that the real reason. Certainly you feel it when you have far players like you mentioned you look at Cory Lindley Keenan Allen joy both. There were Sean Slater, art no franchise quarterback over steel with something you deftly feel that as a team. But like I mentioned earlier we have a lot of depth where it may be in years prior, we would've felt a lot more.

I think when you look landscape of the NFL. We feel left my wood to every team in some shape or fashion in dealing with what we call injury bug is just inevitable kind of in the game of football so you know we like our chances we would like our depth in our locker room and I think you were to be ready to go. We certainly miss those guys in their big part of our team, but that's cool if you guys fill out their practice something around poking up. You know the next man in and were looking for the opportunity to sweep you don't get stuck, Brandon addressed defense this off-season and they were aggressive with some of the shortcomings that happened last year when he think this defensive unit can be the season to tranquil you know I think we have a ton of potential. When you look at how they've invested on the side of football were great at all three levels and I think when you can have your Russian your cover. Working together, you can be good football.

Certainly, you know were not happy with how we put on third down before the season but you know were optimistic. There were three games.

Then we have a lot of new guys plan together. There's a lot of continuity to have warm shape. The year were developing on a weekly basis and will continue to take me inside your locker. When it comes to the police level and in your head football coach because last year when the aggressiveness is working ever was. Love it when it didn't work. Everyone was critical of it. Are you guys fully bought into your head football coach Brandon Saling and I think a great example of bad we have on board so many new new look at how they annoy. When you look at JP Jackson were talking the side of the ball. Khalil Mack you know Alston Johnson, Sebastian Joseph day we brought in so many guys and these guys come in and they're like, man, just for a team meeting with me so polite and so I think guys really believe are kind of in his understanding of the game, how much he put into being a great football coach in the second year that coach to the young guy is figuring it out as he goes just like we are, but I think more than anything we can be commitment we can.

Commitment to being a great coach.

Our current testing of players and it shows that a database so I think we talk about the belief that belief is very very big in your impressions.

For the first two years of what we seen from Justin Herford and what he's been able to do so far as now is in your number three in the NFL because man that you can't really say many negative things about the guy fantastic fantastic teammate and is an altar competitor. I think he is such a unique leader, and that you think I literally don't have to say anything and you have the full respect of the locker room before respect of the organization and the coaching staff you just you look at what is on the path two weeks with no thing that where the need to get out there. He wants to be out there is battling through it and you just can't say enough about his toughness and is leadership, the player and in the intangible.

She brings me all of the tangible.

The arm strength his decision-making. But when you look at the intangibles and what you bring so it's unbelievable.

Lasting Alaska before electrons are tranquil and I really appreciate the time this team likely be talking about loaded with talent big expectations this year and really the last decade decade plus the charges had a lot of talent and having gone with her supposed to go to some fans say the same old charges. Now with you guys getting off that wanted to start what you say to that band that is doubting that your football team is to get the level you guys should get to this year the great question. It's a valid question, think of the football team. We are on boarded it on a player thought and coach. Dir. Kevin the team meeting this week to go. A lot of guys that have not played a lot of football together and so from a communication from a timing perspective from all the things that really really matter if you look at all the great teams over the course of history like you can look at the camp of baking when they all boarded all the great players.

They struggled early and then went on to win the Super Bowl. You look at that basketball like the Miami Heat winning on board Lebron James Chris bosh Elaine Wade all the guys like it took a while for them to learn to play together. I think were disfiguring outrigger and ironing out the wrinkle side of the football learning to play together. You insert a rookie there right dark brown jocular figuring out continuity in the offense of line you Sean Slater going down Cory Lindley missing time, like there's a lot of continuity to health reform to execute all three phases that I think were feeling that early on but I like our progress in our look them up dated practice and I think you can continue to see a better and better provoking your goes on to tranquil and Zach Kelch on behalf of the Q collar, which is the only FDA cleared sports equipment proven to help protect the brain and repetitive head impacts through safe travels.

Good luck this weekend really do appreciate the time and perspective that that much there is to tranquil from the charges just real quickly to a just released a statement I want to thank everyone for all their present support to the game last night was difficult to not be able to finish the game and be there with my teammates but I'm grateful for the support and care I received from the Dolphins. My friends and family and all the people who've reach out. I'm feeling much better focus on recovering so I could get back out on the field with my teammates that is from Dolphins quarterback to it's on the bylaws echoed chose to be a sports radio news brief next hey guys Mike Valenti for cash the ticket podcast if you like sports betting or if you just like sports.
