I don't know February, then check out Leon Black history month. The podcast that tells inclusive stories and year-round like how today's labor movement is connected to the civil rights movement and why black neighborhoods keep getting hit with water crisis after water crisis will still be in charge for water that we key you listen and subscribe to be on Black history month on the Odyssey app or whatever you get your podcast from college graduates to appreciate the time I warrior great room you will let me start you off so you guys lose due to Lane 17 to 10 in a heartbreaking way that you bounced back to beat Oklahoma which was a top 10 team in the country. What is that say about your group that they were able to overcome that tough to Lane laws quickly flush it and then make a dominant performance where it was good result. But we get a lot of new players do we have some ups and downs but we want to lose the game but that's what happened.

So no big thing. We talked about studies respond when adversity strikes him he responded that was the challenge all week regarding when you were going to do a great environment. Oklahoma top, then came back to tremendous personnel on both sides of the ball but focused on us and what we need to get brethren play more aggressive on offense and the perfect storm works really great to start the game and then the water form so to speak. When they tied it, but we never trailed and apologized real. The fight through the full medicine, what confidence he always is a game against Oklahoma's good to be tossed but this is not your third victory in four tries up against him. You know what's good?

I wish I knew I bottled up in heaven every week but our failures will feel they can compete with anybody same respect were smart enough to realize in college football is seen the show itself all year and first month. Anybody can beat anybody on any given Saturday with several of us know the plans and of the execution and our guide will focus all week long, going into that environment. I thought you always makes mistakes.

We played really hard all the way to make a lot of plays a special Chris climate here without you talked about what you sensor your kids throughout the week was never a moment the last week we said okay we got a really back in or was it right to work after that loss on forcing you guys had two weeks ago know you have to write work, especially in the fact that you mid-September football leptin with an inserted conference playing mostly everybody's everybody's golem in their conference and especially for 12 compete for conference title so you'll in order to do that you had get up off the deck and and the future plan together guys for the best weekends we can try to start one and only claim we have to play great opponent on the road and found a way else. Whatever we did last week means nothing this week as text effect looms and comes in Europe, but women get sexy with her using rundown couch with Martina's is been around college football for Wallace had some good moments had some bad moments, like any college player, 21, 34, 234 yards against Oklahoma touchdown and then we know we did on the ground with the four rushing touchdowns and rushing for nearly hundred and 50 yards disease in that the type of guy that you thought he was a surprise yeah impress you. What about your quarterback. Well he played exceptionally well and that some ups and downs but I don't know if anybody gets ridiculed more for the Downs and Adrian Martinez for four years and the Iraqis very mature doesn't listen to the outside noise. Although it's been around for so long that I think he's probably numb to it. He shown that around us in bottom line is you have to blame game is working quite a bit on Sunday and we believe in you and we know that the your best football and all I want you loose and let it rip like I know you can like that seen in practice, like a finger through fall camp and the great dates to do it on a nationally televised game at all. You got nothing to lose you school it rip and play and he had that mentality all week and sought practice and then the first drive was really importantly, we want the cost football which is something we typically don't do that. We did it to try to get him on the field and run the football looking to getting it into the flow of the game make some big time throws down the scene get a touchdown and I think that just increase the confidence of of not just a dream, but the entire football team. Ballgame is a quarterback as I've ever had a guys like frozen. We coached a lot of great quarterbacks in our system between course and went straight through antiques and six catheter Thompson and that was the best thing while others some big-time words you I do it takes two to tango transfer happens all the time now in the sport.

What really drew you guys to him and had that kinda go down.

We got him to come to your program one. The proximity know we were able to get him down here like in the Manhattan is in a very long trip for a couple hours really getting around here and around our players and the game played at Nebraska you know is good football player.

You know the stage is too big for them has such great experience and we were looking for a guy that would be a dual threat guy that could the runaround and the users like Beecher, but also push the ball downfield and make some explosive point basking in the all the things you missed volume he was in fear of the spring, he must follow when ball with an injury. So just six weeks into playing football forcefully surf 1 August review transition.

For him to continue to learn what coach client in office is doing, but the if it came to fruition. All came together last Saturday night because Bilbo Chris climate here with Garcia. What did you think you have the rest like missing the first four weeks of gone well, you know.

Yes, we are weak we know we have a good football team. The problem is there's a lot of really good football team so that everybody so you have to have your a game every week and that's not just physically think that's as much mentally and emotionally focused while you preparation the letters between the layers to make sure that the put your best foot forward because no other not For the ball retailers on special teams. All that other stuff yet, but we've seen it in four weeks. The amount of upset about close games. I think that's part of the transfer portal that's part of the fact that there's a lot of a lot of there are a lot of people that are in new programs and so it's going to potentially be like that and so we go try to continue to be consistent on both sides of the ball and if we can do that gives us a chance. Each Saturday because Chris climate for a few more minutes.

It is exact else on CBS sports radio we know what you did is that coach at North Dakota State for five years. He only had six losses, a bunch of championships. When you take that job to go to Kansas State. People wonder how you're going to do taking a bigger job in the world of college football what you learned wondering about yourself in these last 34 years at Kansas State.

Well, for starters.

What an honor to follow coastline bills that are of greatest college football history and the one that gets to fill issues which I'll never fill his shoes. But the one that gets to build on his legacy.

That's for starters, and I know how blessed I am to have that opportunity that I had a guy Jean Taylor believe in and myself leave our staff to come from the FCS world and get chance to come to the qualified world and the soul can't have a chip on my shoulder just like a lot of players do that maybe don't get the opportunity of like this quite at a higher level. Whatever may be your you later Martinez have a chip on his shoulder, wanting to prove himself. No different and the we have a good situation here and am excited about the now excited about the future. Kansas State building a lot of buildings we have unbelievable administration that supports football and the landscape of college football is changing and we want to make sure that when people think of that have been college football that can't say comes to mind. And that's our job to make sure that we stay in the top 25 of top 30 schools. We talked about Trey Lancelot on this show just so unfortunate to see the injury when responding to be able to look to be that guy for an entire season hasn't played a full season now at the end of this year to be in three years. Just what would be your message to Trent of Yanni conversations with them and when the 49ers have just killed me because I know already works those around them I recruited him by believing him will be a phenomenon for player. It's a speedbump right now that you get, but he's a young player. That's the great thing trade really young enter the league really young to be a star. He has all all the attributes all the intangibles that characters that integrity is a competitor of the 49ers made a great choice and engraftment.

And yet he's got a setback, but the extent and wish you well if you get this big recovery fracture. I know you are locked in a lecture on because you gotta get ready for Texas TAC. I'm a big fan of the story of John McGuire. What stands out to about his football team coming off a big one man find ways to win big went over over Houston.

They came to mind again and won that game. They battled a really good North Carolina state team and then I knew what a huge sale signature when it is gradually got annoying come to respect for them.

But what a signature when prim dispersing the go of the Texas and they're playing really well really well coached team and it will be another paddle in the big 12 gondola fourth-quarter life, mostly games early this week. We appreciate you carving out some time president. Once again, congratulations on the victory against Oklahoma REMIC local radio stations range of your favorite teams from your home town, you can completely customize your listening experience.
