Welcome to worship the word with pastor Rob, thank you so much for joining us today. Pastor Robert is continuing his series amazing Grace with a message about God's unchanging nature. It's going to be a good one.

I'm your host Patrick and I'm here with my cohost Jenae hey guys I'm really looking forward to today's message because we live in a world where everything can and often does change or shift at the drop of a hat, whether it's fashion trends are relationships the economy are even our social media feed changes everywhere.

It really is that can be a little unsettling at I think we all need a reminder that God doesn't change me because he's perfect. You know, as is much as I like some change in my life.

I have to agree with you.

I like knowing I've given my heart to a God who never changes his mind, his decrees for his promises is amazing to think that a miracle working God in the Bible, the one that raised Christ from the dead is the same guy I know today that's really good news so let's jump in now with pastor Robert to hear how understanding God's unchanging nature is the key to understanding for the series called amazing Grace and this week the title of the message is amazing. Immutability amazing immutability well enough to look at it to spell it because it's probably not a word that you use last week.

You probably did not say that was one of the most immutable meetings I've ever been, you know, I don't know, but the word immutability riff actually is first to the unchangeable Laos when you put it to you while you end unchangeable Laos of God, immutable means unchangeable, impossible to change. There's another word you're probably more familiar with and that would be mutation or mutating changing. If you're a parent you might be familiar with teenage mutant ninja laser hurdles that mutated and the ninjas say they changed the guy.

Let's just warning you submit something that can change mutation so immutability is the inability to change this this election a good thing God cannot change it can change because is perfect is no need to change. It's important for us under stress. I started a few weekends this year is on grace. I started with a very generic motivational message on grace talking about what what is grace, not what what does grace do like that gets confused a lot of the body of Christ. The grace does this understand what grace does. But what is grace, and it is the pure and undefiled, unmerited, unearned, undeserved favor of God toward sinful people and because of us receiving that then it does something in our lives that will get in the more that in the series, but I started there, some going to get a little more theological now. So Hebrews chapter 6 look in verse 13. For when God made a promise to Abraham this is where we left off last pick up there again about Abraham saying God saying Abraham I came to bless you Abraham, believing in righteousness was deposited in his account. When God made a promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no one greater. He swore by himself saying, surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply and so after he Abraham had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For me, and indeed swear by the greater and then oath for confirmation is for VM and and of all dispute. Thus, God determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise, I will show you there's a promise or those who faked to the heirs of promise. Now watch this immutability of his counsel. That's the unchangeable list of his counsel, confirmed by mouth that by two immutable things to unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast in which enters the presence behind the veil okay so this hope that we have that's based on that God can't change and he can't lie anchors our soul are solely our mind, will and emotions will think about your future thoughts and your feelings. That's about all that's where the Bible is it's it's it's your hat what you're thinking and how you're feeling.

There's the battle, but what happens when were going through storm is if we understand that God can't change that we have an anchor that storm that that's that's what he still exists. This word immutable.

This this Greek word that says immutability immutable to save record actually only two times, it's in the Bible in Hebrews chapter 6. It's only two times, it's in the Bible.

And it's important to understand docket lot and he sees using the Abraham a covenant to help us understand the new covenant, which is a covenant by grace through faith right so there's what happens if you ever last week we talked about the God shows up Abraham as is Abraham. Given your religious background your religious upbringing. Your own religious upbringing.

You know this will be hard to believe but I didn't come to judge you. I didn't come to condemn you actually came to bless you and Abraham believed and it was putting his account accounted to him for righteousness.

And God says that's what that's what happens to you when you believe Skype so in the very same way.does this but on the way over to me with a ready gone understand that in Judaism this where we get it from what you see. Even in America using other countries that when you take a oath, you have to swear by someone greater than you. For instance you see people put their hand on the Bible right right right hand and say I swear to tell the truth the whole truth about the truth so help me God. Okay there swearing by you.

The Bible's representative of God there swearing by someone greater than God that comes from Judaism. So he says okay you know that in an oath when when a person swears yes swear by someone greater in number. Someone tougher than he is to use Texan term like tougher okay. When I married into Debbie's family.

I didn't realize it, but everyone had a middling that they are the greatest, hardest working people you've ever met, but they put their middle names for either Wayne or Bob and it's how they tell each other part in a worded billing lingo ability. Wayne went with Walmart regrading line orders Grady Wayne Brady Wayne.

He just finished up with talking Jimmy Bobby Billy Bob, and they're going to Bobby Bob's house you know itself just to let you know which which which Jimmy and Billy they're talking about.

You put the middle name. Very few following Skype so if you're going to swear by someone you'd swear by the toughest Bob that we got one swear by little Bobby swear by big Bob following okay so God said on the way over here. I know that when women take an oath I confirm it by swearing by someone greater but only way over. I couldn't think of anyone greater the value so ice I'm going to swear to you Abraham on my own name. Now I want you let that sink in for a moment, would it be all right with you.

If God swore to you and he said to you I swear to you alone. Swear to that okay with you will.

That's what it blessing accompanied a made a notice with you because you can think of anyone greater than he is. He swore on his own name and he said there are two things that they can't change. We read in verse 17 moment. No new King James leaders route to your new American Standard. It says in the same way. In the same way towards God will Abraham, God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable list of his purpose. Now there's a promise you know we we love nation of Israel. We reach out Israel. But let me show you the heirs of the promise are Romans four verses 1314 says for the promise that he would be the heir of the world is thinking of Abraham was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law but through the righteousness of faith. For those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect. So here's what he same in the same way that I might oath a covenant with Abraham. This is what the new companies like and I swear to you and I take an oath and let me remind you that I can't lie you just got ketchup good graces. God says I want to swear to you and what you know something I can't like on so what what are the two unchangeable things all right.

Someone said, is that God can't lie and that he can't change and those to me are what stand firm. The two things that can change what's two things you can't change your or are in chapter 6 through two. All right, so here here's the first one, number one. Jesus is our high priest forever. He's our high priest forever. Now we stopped long ago in Hebrews 6 verse 19 verse 20 or the forerunner has entered for us. Even Jesus that's behind the veil, having become high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews chapter 7 new lodges at flip one page. Look at verse 17 for he testifies you are a priest forever according order Melchizedek bone down in Hebrews chapter 7 verse 23.

Also there were many priest because they were prevented by death from continuing. But he lets Jesus because he continues forever as an unchangeable priesthood.

By the way, this word record here for unchangeable only time it's in the Bible is only done so that you got the word immutable twice and then unchangeable. Only time God decides using words and it's because they're so strong he wants you know there's no possibility of the lesson. There's no possibility that Jesus will not remain the high priest of those who believe in him. Now look at chapter 10 and will read this very slowly and I might even ask you some questions to let it dawned on okay because this these are two of the greatest verses in the Bible. Hebrews 10 beginning verse 11 and every priest okay how many of them every stands do they stand or sit stands ministering daily how often to the minister okay and offering repeatedly how often do they offer repeatedly the same sacrifices same or different same which can never, never, always, never take away sins that will read that verse again late notice.

I don't like over yet. And every priest. Verse 11 stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.

Now let verse 12 dawn on you, but this land next Jesus after he had offered one sacrifice for CNs forever, sat down at the right hand of God, no. I sit down.

This finished his emerald on the cross again.

They live the perfect life. He died the perfect day perfect sacrifice perfect wide perfect sacrifice is that it is done, finished God's done his part. We do our part. Regards done. As far as the next amazing and God can't change God to change anything applied so he made his son, our high priest. Now when I is Jesus your high priest when you have a good week you read your Bible, you pray you don't cost too much. You know you have a good good good week to see your high priest is in your heart briefly about weight, so the problem is most Christians don't live like that you're listening to worship and the word with Pastor Robert and thank you so much for joining us. If you've missed the first couple of messages in this amazing Grace. You can find them, along with many other messages on our website. Pastor Robert.com to know what a message.

So far I particularly love what Pastor Robert said early on about how God's unchanging nature, and that he's not able to lie is an anchor for so so often we go through storms or battles in life and without hope in God's promises to hold onto.

We can get tossed around. I love that there is no greater security in knowing God through our own that he cannot lie right right right and what Pastor Robert said about Jesus as our forever high priest is really eye-opening to high priest isn't really a job description here nowadays and before listening to this message had really thought about what it means for us to have Jesus as our high priest, that is, once and for all sacrifice covered every now and then you never going to be taken away from. Well Pastor Robert has much more insight. So let's join there's number two. Jesus is our mediator of the new covenant forever that this will never change is never another mediator. Jesus is our mediator. If wearing faith. We believe these are mediator of the new covenant forever now just back a few pages Hebrews chapter 8 verse six says.

But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as he is also mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Okay a better covenant better promises.

Do you believe the new covenant is better than welcome about Delilah explains that we don't know covenant not home at the Abraham covenant.the Mosaic covenant gave Abraham a covenant was symbolic of the new comet Odell at the Mosaic Mosaic covenant that the covenant given to the children of Israel. Moses like a B to protect art so is it better yes I believe was out there is a better yes. Then I asked this most can answer why is it better lesson in covenant better. Well show you one reason that it's better in it can do something the old covenant can't do it can cleanse your CM not just cover your sentence. It can cleanse you from all sin and what it claims as you. It can cleanse your conscience so that you don't serve God out of dead works. You can't believe how many believers serve God out of dead works at a dead work could be.

They could be said many different ways.

Later definitions 11 heard site, a dead work is any work not initiated by God that such a good definition another word. Another definition would be, especially in reference to the new covenant of work trying to earn the favor of God are so many show you a few scriptures got your Bible stare there. Hebrews 9 Hebrews chapter 9 verse nine.

It was symbolic for the present time the summit the old covenant, in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make EM who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience. It can cleanse our conscience. Hebrews 9 verse 13 for if the blood of bulls and goats and ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more they enter the first part of this.

The last part to help understand the Senate because he wants a phrasing which is great but I want you understand the Senate so remember this, how much more the question, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, but remember the first, how much more shall the blood price watch Killian's your conscience from dead works to serve the living God, and for this reason, so this is one of the reasons he is the mediator of the new covenant. This is one of the reasons to better in Hebrews chapter 10 versus wanting to for the law having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things can never with the same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect for the yen would they have not cleared ceased to be offered for the worshipers once purified or cleansed would have had no more consciousness of sins that don't get hung up on the WordPerfect does not talk about that were perfect in our performance, but in our position with God, the Jesus lived the perfect life that we put our faith in him that yes would live righteously. Yes, grace teaches us to deny ungodliness to live righteously and sober and resonate. Yes, grace does that, but grace can make us clean inside the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sing so it makes us perfect in regard to countries it can cleanse my conscience so that I don't always have this consciousness of sin for them, always trying to get God's favor or God's approval is very important. Understand this, so let's let's compare just for a moment Bill covenant and the new covenant right. I will give you very simplified version of the old covenant, right hope you never forget this. God says to Israel to the nation of Israel is someone like a covenant with you. Okay covenant there's 22 parts, and I do my part. You do your part. Okay I so here's my part, I will be your God. I showed you one time a message. I went through.

I think thirtysomething scriptures I will be your God. You will be my people. I will be your God. You will be my people. God always will. The people says is wrong. I'll be your God will be my people, and he said, here is my part of the covenant, I want to love you on the protect your I will provide for you will fight your battles for you. I want to lead you, I will guide you to direct your mama to be your God.

I will be your God is okay is okay, now here's your part. I want you to keep the law achieve the whole is in an and you will know the ship when right to books along one regret one called Leviticus Lorette one called Deuteronomy Deuteronomy means the second law of the law. The second time summer acting twice just to get an and in Leviticus as a whole chapter on what you have to do if you get this So so so that my my part is only your God, and take care of you for no protect you.

Love you, serve you provide for you all that your party is you have to keep the whole law. Here's what Israel did whole nation visually said okay they broke it the first day I don't laugh at them because you did to you think you and The law since you been saved. None of you have with SL But I broke it before Moses got down the mountain. I named four commandments of Deborah before he got down the mountain and I bet they broke more but we know for sure for okay for even got down mountain that's in covenant here's a new covenant, God said to me one day, Robert. I would like you, here's my part, I will love you I will protect you, provide for you will forgive all your sins, you live forever. I'll be God will hear your part in Lord what's my part. Jesus would you would you come over here Robert this Jesus Jesus is Robert. Robert Jesus is my son and he became a man, and he he went to earth and he died to pay for all the things you've done wrong. But he not only died for you.

This is the problem we miss lots grace. He also lived for he lived a perfect life and he kept the whole. If you believe in Jesus, shall believe in.

My son and you and I can enter covenant together and I'll be your God will be my son in a motel room when I was 19 years old been addicted to drugs.

I said to God. I believe I believe Jesus is the son of God and that he lived for me and that he died for me. God and I entered a covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ and God can't lie and you can't change that is can you believe Jesus would want to enter into relationship with us in his grace makes it so easy to say yes to him.

What a powerful message. I read the book of Hebrews.

So many times. Every time I see something new and different, but the Holy Spirit he may be unchangeable, but he's always giving me new things to think about discovering is wearing, especially when it comes to his grace.
