Amazing Works

Pastor Robert is continuing his series of amazing Grace was Patrick and I'm here with my cohost Jeanette hello hello well past Robert's message today is about works, but I think it's going to be a little bit of a surprise for those listening. I think that you, Patrick. When I first heard that he is going to be speaking on work.

I thought he was going to warn you about getting caught up yet.

Why me, understandably so. This is a whole series about great rights, but that's not the point of this this message is actually titled amazing works and he goes into some pretty heavy theology to explain why works are amazing but man, I'm so glad because of the previous messages in this series we know were saved by the gift of grace, not works, but I always wondered about those verses in the Bible they things like he will reward each according to his works.

For God will bring every work into judgment.

I've often thought about the stooge and I like how exactly do works fit into our turnip all good questions. We were talking about grace that we are saved completely and totally by God's grace through our faith. So we do have a part.

Some of them preach grace would preach it. We don't even have a part but that's just not true. All through Scripture we have a part to receive God's grace. So it's by grace through faith. That's why do that that will help you understand this, we have to learn when we look at the Bible to distinguish between our belief and our behavior, our belief in our behavior and let me tell you the difference okay our belief determines where we will spend eternity in our behavior determines how we will spend eternity saved are lost.

Our belief determines where we will spend eternity go to heaven because you believe in Jesus. Go to hell because you don't believe in Jesus. Our behavior determines how many rewards and the degrees of responsibility and the treasurer that we will have in heaven and you need treasure in heaven because Jesus said store up for yourselves treasures in heaven say, store up for my father and me in the work we decided do the streets and gold were little short so send your money ahead and say that there they're doing okay so I believe determines where we go, but our behavior determines even for a believer how much responsibility were going to heaven, having remembered in Luke 19.

Every person see that's already been determined, and every person present the great white throne judgment is an unbeliever. That's arguing it's not determined at your judgment when you go to heaven or hell.

You determine that on this earth.

It's appointed on the man once to die. After that the judgment you get to determine which judgment you attempt but only while your life if you walk out of. Killed in a car wreck and you haven't believe in Jesus you determine which judgment you're going to you. You have a chance right now while you're on this earth. Once your life is over, you have no other chances you need to know that so there's the judgment seat of Christ and the great white from judgment and believers that wanted an unbeliever cerebellar and at each judgment. Listen to some shops on the road at each judgment your works are judged.

Your works are got and I'm assuring Scripture right so here I don't.

Those are the two points I want to cover.

Number one the judgment seat of Christ.

I will show you what happens at the judgment seat approximately in first grade 3 hello okay I'm not there yet. Okay.

You can be you can be a believer and do eternal works are temporal works and things you do for eternity will last and things you don't do for eternity will be burned up and you'll receive a reward for the things you did for with eternal value, but you will receive your work for the things you did for can provide.

As a matter fact when there's a real famous passage of being rewarded and even losing rewards that many people just don't seem to tie into this whole context of talking. I hear it's in the sermon on the Mount Matthew six verse one Jesus said, take heed that you do your chair that you do not do your charitable deeds before me on here is that there's a key to be seen by them. If that your motor over somebody might know that you do it, but you didn't do it to be safe. Otherwise you have no reward. You have no reward from your father in heaven.

Therefore, when you do a charitable deed did not sound the trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the street that they may have glory for me on a Shirley I said you they have their reward. I don't think I knew there were two judgments either the judgment seat of Christ. Then there's the great white throne.

They both sound greedy and I didn't either. Everyone went to this thing. Here's the second judgment I will cover the great white throne judgment. The great white throne judgment. Now every person of the great white throne judgment an unbeliever, and I want to show you how we as pastors and leaders and theologians came up with the name the great white throne judgment right. Revelation 20 verse 11 then I saw a great white throne is all we could think of. So I saw a great white throne and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God. Now watch carefully the grammatical tenses of these next few words because their imported and books plural books were opened.

And another book singular was opened, which is the book of life. Listen right there you just thought, belief and behavior. If you believe in Jesus. Your name is written in the Lamb's book of life, but there are books that are recording our works, books, and the dead were judged according to their works, by that these works were written in the books.

The sea gave up the dead who were imminent death and Hades delivered to bedroom them and they were judged, each one according to his works okay now. Tell your mom to go there degrees of rewards in their degrees of punishment, master question, will the guy who believes in Jesus.

He really truly accept Christ to get say, but he never witnesses never went to the only price he never really shares his faith never really spend time in prayer, reading the Bible.

He never ties he never gives generously will he receive the same rewards of the guy that witnesses shares his faith praise spends time in the word ties gives over and above but is not what they were seeing this were what will they receive the same rewards okay so will the guy who does not believe in Jesus and let's say he seems to be a fairly good guy things for good guy but he obstinately and defiantly says no I will not I will not give a like Jesus Christ. I do not believe in God, I'm on an agnostic and I'm not going to believe in God but he lives a fairly good life goes to work and has a family and you know, provide for them. Does that but he says no I'm not I'm not I'm not going to. And let's say that his family are believers, but he never accepts Christ ago to help a separated from his family that are believers and friends that are believers separated from God for all eternity. But will he receive the same format. The same punishment that Hitler will killed 6 million Jews and 5 million other people, by the way. 11 million people listening know they will receive the same because God's just got some righteous judgment.

He's on the judge. Every person ever. I just I read you the Scriptures go back and listen to it again is going to judge each and every person according to his works. It matters how you live in matters but we go to heaven as we believe we go to hell because we don't believe let me show you degrees apartment.

Okay, degrees of judgment.

Watch this. Matthew 1120 verse 20 it says. Then he began to teach the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done. I won't notice this this. The Bible most of his mighty works had been done because they did not repent woe to you horizon woe to you, Beth SATA for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes part inside were very, very well known for forming the profits and for idol worship. Verse 22 but I say to you, it will be. Watch this is Jesus talking more tolerable. You know that those weird words mean great, less suffering. There will be less suffering in way more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you and the guys talking here probably knows what he's talking about and you could turn who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom never saw him anymore. Now watch this this this will most amazing phrase you'll ever read the Bible Jesus that makes it it would have remained until this day. That's amazing Yorty say they would repented my father and I would not have destroyed Sodom would still be here today if they had seen the mighty works useful but I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.

That's amazing. Only thing that this is what is you live in the buckle of the Bible belt and you don't accept Christ there people who don't live here.

They live in a very dark place, only more tolerable for them in the day of judgment than it will be for you because you heard the message you had good Bible believing spirit filled churches on nearly every block more tolerable showing another one. What what watch this carefully. This is written out unbeliever single print of the church in Rome, he began to talk about unbelief.

Okay Romans to verse five says, but in accordance in accordance to the degree in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring what an amazing turn the treasuring for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and the revelation of the righteous judgment got there again shows every person we judge for divorce because God's righteous judge is on the judge righteously, but notice that your treasuring up member. I'm not trying to scare you. I feel like a doctor who's giving you a factual report I am giving you a factual report I'm telling you it if you believe in Jesus to go to heaven if you don't go to hell and listen to me listen very carefully.

If you have a thought. What if I go to heaven because my belief in my behavior means I get more rewards will what I'm going to do, believe in Jesus bicycle live like I won't listen to me if you have that phone if you go down that thought and continue and that's what you live your life. You're not say you're not saying someone needs to tell you the facts so I'm not trying to scare you.

I feel like that, Dr. is just giving you the facts and say listen, you have a deadly disease you're going to die from this disease but we have a cure. I want you to know everyone of us have a deadly disease is called CM but I will get to know we have a cure. Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, and his blood in blood alone. He confronts me when it comes to quotable pick me up. Although he's been all my and he confronts me. The degree of punishment match the degree of my fence and I remember thinking again if I know I had that thought a lot growing up. If I'd known he was watching the father is watching. He's going to reward he's going to punch me, and that's really sobering to hear so so good.
