Welcome to Michigan where Pastor Robert morning, thank you so much for joining.

We've been after Robert's relationship theories and today he concluded the meeting theories with the message about the 10th commandment do not connect it cannot be a good one.

Well, I'm your host Jenae and I'm here with my cohost Patrick everybody you know. So is Pastor Robert has been going through each of the 10 Commandments in the series. He's been indicating the relational principle behind. It's been a really interesting to learn how God gave us these commandments not because he didn't want us to have any fun, but because he wanted us to enjoy peace and enhance our relationship with him and with others, and I love how even though the 10 Commandments are thousands of years old. Each message in a series has been so applicable to our lives today. This is such a great word so let's get right to pass Robert's final message in this series called relationship through God's top 10 list and the of these are TM walls for civilized society. I don't overlook the but there's a principle behind each commandment that I think we need to understand so were only principle now, and it's the 10th commandment, Exodus chapter 20 verse 17 Exodus 20 verse 70 you shall not covet your neighbor's house.

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's okay we we like to bowl the commandment down to you shall not covet.

Let's okay as long as we understand what the word covet means or were going to go through that, but the principle I believe that he is trying to instill in our lives to this commandment is the principle of contentment. The only reason that we would ever covet what someone else has is because were not content with what we have and there's a scripture in the New Testament there are several covetousness but there's a scripture that to me. The Lord gave you this principle before I ever started studying about it. I just felt like you said, the 10th one is the principle of contentment.

Whether the scriptural will show you. I want to go show you the second part of it first because you're familiar with it, and I'll show you the first part and it shows how contentment is the opposite of covetousness right or they answer the remedy to covetousness the Scriptures. He verse 13 five says for he himself. This is the second part has said I will never leave you nor forsake.

We know that part.

But the first part says this he burst working five let your conduct be without covetousness for B be content with such things as you have let your conduct be without covetousness, be content with things as you have, for he himself said I'll never leave your site. In other words, what you may contend yes I'll never leave.

On average, like I'll always be your father always be your provider so what is so here's here for number one. What is coveting what what is coveting now. If you remember I told you that the 10 Commandments are three places in the in the Old Testament. Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 and you can read it's a little by the way, the word Deuteronomy may use the second law of the law a second time ecstasies to exit or to go out. That's that with the children of Israel went out. Leviticus means the law actually means pertaining to the Levites, but it weekly wage prescribed as the law of the Deuteronomy's the second law of the law a second time.

So in Deuteronomy 5 we have the 10 Commandments listed again in their little different.

Sometimes it's good to read both places are you gonna get a for understanding so I'm going to show you what the 10th commandment is in Deuteronomy and you'll understand a little more about the word what covet means right so Deuteronomy 5 verse 21 you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor's house field male servant, female servant, ox, donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's okay so the word covet means to desire, but it's stronger than the word desire it means to strongly desire. Now I need to understand weekly shortening the commandment sometime so we can remember like we say the 10th commandment. Sometimes we view old King James it sounds little more spiritual but will say thou shalt not covet okay that's fine as long as you don't cut it means it means to strongly desire but I want you understand the whole commandment is what God is saying and wait since it says desire. This is what it doesn't make God is not saying you shall not desire you shall not have desires. That's always safe.

Here's what he said you shall not desire what belongs to someone else. That's what coveting is coveting is not desiring a better house for your family a better school system. A reliable car that's not that's not that's okay to have desires. It's okay. What coveting is, is this argument belongs to someone else. So here's what Satan does. He does everything he can to get us toward our desire what someone else asked.

But here's what covetousness does covetousness calls business covetousness causes us to resent God because God's providing something for him. He's not providing for me, covetousness is more serious than we think only made in the top 10 and let me show you some New Testament scriptures on the right.

Here's what Jesus said about Luke 12 verse 50 and he said to them, take heed and beware of covetousness for one's life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses. One's life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses. If you've been someone who's been blessed financially on most of us living in America, been very blessed financially compared to the rest of the world that big a scripture to memorize one's life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses. And Jesus says, beware of covetousness. Then there are a few places where covetousness is listed amongst the mother seems what's amazing to me is how serious the sins are and covet. This makes the list.

Let me show you if you first Corinthians 511 but now I've written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother who is sexually immoral or covetous, or an idolater, or a revolver or a drunkard or an extortion, not even the such person. Look at the list in this next verse in the last it's going to tell you why covetousness is so bad. Colossians 35 says therefore put to death your members which are knowingly or fornication. Notice again the listed mites. Uncleanness is the sexual likeliest passion is the sexual passion for someone outside of marriage, evil desire, and covetousness.

Watch this, which is idolatry. Covetousness which is idolatry you from every thought about that wise it idolatry because you're putting someone or something above God, that they are that person has now become an idol elect, and here's what happened.

You'll actually exchange that if you begin to covet something you will exchange God for that.

If I could have that man's wife if I could have that person's job.

I'll do anything to get it if I could have back neighborhood. In essence, you begin to say I give everything I have to have that and a lot of people have given their relationship with God because once you begin the covet something you desire strongly desire something that doesn't belong to you, it becomes an idol. Now let me go back and read Exodus 20 verse 17 one more time because I just want to show you how how unbelievably clear God is on this on this one. And by the way, I have some humor in the message in a moment as you're out there like simply become the church of days that is normally tells jokes. He just getting all over me isolate look. Let me show you. Exodus 27 thing and look what Chuck cleared up.

Here is a list you shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor is often explain what an office represents a moment in the Bible nor his donkey yellow explain that to watch this and then he says let me say this, nor anything that is your neighbor's when you give a catchall that you don't know covet his truck companies barbecue grill don't covet her close don't come in her jewelry don't cover their money. Anything oxen donkey represent wealth that represent wealth because in Israel. The more land you had the more oxen you need to work the lanyard. They were flame oxen, and the way they traveled was with donkeys, not horses. Only the ultra-wealthy had horses, Jesus himself rolled on a colt, the foal of a donkey so that I don't travel don't represent transportation don't covet your neighbor's Lexus or anything that is your neighbor's.

So please hear me again, God is not saying it's wrong to desire a saying it's wrong to strongly desire what belongs to someone else because it would come in.

I it's okay to desire. For instance, if you're not married, you can desire a wife don't desire someone else's life. Okay so for number one. What is coveting design with someone else had clearly seemed to worship and the word pastor Robert Morris. This is the final message of his relationship think you missed any. You can check out our podcast pastor Robert.com or call 833933 word to get a copy today. I really love pastor Robert said earlier in the message that the enemy does everything he can to make us desire things that others have some truth to everyone I know struggles with eating 10 people socially know I was going to say that same exact thing. There's a lot of kids that social media does not connect this with people around the club and rallies people around cognizant. Honestly, sometimes it's just plain fun right that faith that Instagram and Twitter can cause me to wrestle with contentment and I think in a world where constantly from time I look at everyone fly beneath having no counseling.

There is such a fine between being able to admire something someone else has and wanting what they have for yourself. Well pastor Robert has so much more. It seems so let's get your point number two contentment versus contention contentment versus contention. Remember, I love words, the principle of contentment. Look at these two words though and look at the root of each word content shown content meant contentment and tension that they both come to the both of the root so what's the difference like the word content means happy are satisfied. Major satisfied unhappy. I'm satisfied, satisfied, content me out when you put me up on the end of the word means the state of so contentment means the state of satisfaction contention on but the I/O in it means there's a struggle or quarrel so this is a person who's not content and has an inward struggle as to why why am I telling you this because if you're not content, then you're not in the state of contentment in the state of contention. It means there's you're not happy so you're always competing. By the way, the word competition is a sister word to the word comparison. This is what happens when we are not content. We compare our house to someone else's house, our job to someone else. Job our spouse to someone else's belt comparison comparisons not good not good thing you think when you compare now you can compare in a good way.

If you're househunting you can compare. You can say which house would be best.

You can even go to someone else's house, I see something you like compared to your house and stay on the way home.

I like the way they did their backyard. I did to that's fine. That's not coveting as long as your content with what God provided for your development when you're not content then you go to covet. That's where you cross the line but when you go to comparison you gotta think about this. There's a distant dissatisfaction when you look for what someone else has a major dissatisfied what you have you be in the compare when you compare in your dissatisfied what you think about it is only one of two conclusions inferiority or superiority. In other words, if my house is nice of jurors, and I have discontentment in my heart I could feel superior in my house is not as nice as yours. I discontentment in my heart I feel inferior. You can imagine how comparison messes you up only Messenger that will give you some wild examples they wild examples are right.

Not only do you not rejoiced when someone else gets blessed. But if someone you don't like gets blessed. My or if something bad happens to someone you don't like your rejoiced a little bit.

It was a car wreck really was his face damaged really is a permanent Skippy wild examples is comparing comparison is never right, never right with this bibliography read your verse second Corinthians, TN verse 12 for we dare not class ourselves based on this for moment is that amazing how we class ourselves will in this classroom.

This class not the body of Christ were not world joint heirs, for we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who command themselves, but that's always what hands as you start to be in yourself. You have to build yourself up. Everybody but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. This is on what Summit last week there wise, foolish and evil people.

What I found that foolish people. The reason there that foolish is because I compare other always prepare themselves not say some else about compare yourself because were really art this the societies worsen in the other any other generation because of social media and you haven't figured it out yet social media is supposed it's not real. You see a picture of this husband that my husband took me out to dinner for my birthday and you go in and there's your husband from the daily they could've gone in a knockdown drag out fly right after that picture but they don't post that picture but we compare ourselves or I don't follow me, and we covet okay so at this friend of mine that he was in his late 30s and had never been married and that we were talking one time and he said pastor I have a theological question for you is okay. He said, can I put two scriptures together. I said yes you can put two scriptures together. The problem was never putting Scripture together. The problem is putting your understanding of those two scriptures together. That's where the problem always comes in.

So let me see the two scriptures and I'll tell you if you're you're interpreting the scriptures correctly right and here are the two scriptures I Psalm 84 verse 11. No good thing no good thing towards good thing will he withhold from those who walk up rightly. The other Scripture Proverbs 1822 he who finds a wife finds a good thing they said Robert cannot combine those two scriptures if I woke up rightly will God provide me a wife and I said to him you combine those two scriptures you can come on the street scriptures about a year later he came up to Munich conference special press Robert I want you to meet my good thing and actually like you I call Debbie sugar. Good thing it became her pet name. He would come home and say you have a good day.

Good thing, and I haven't seen you in a while, but for about 1520 years after that.

When I did see him.

He would always call recalled good thing is called a good thing. Here's what's good about that.

Never coveted anyone else's wife because he knew he got his life from God, and he always saw her as a good fish. If you're just tuning in with fescue, listening to Washington, where Pastor Robert ranks.

I absolutely love what ceramics and I found compare this is such a huge issue for so many people not really a skin for some people that kind of comparison just deals joining contentment right out from I think we need to get to a point where we accept that there is always going to be something bigger and better.

Definitely God has made a way for us to be genuinely 100% for an Pastor Robert has more insight in western France. Let's get back to business. So here's .3 doesn't take longer to shorter point than the others. There's number three delight before desires delight before desires.

So what's the answer to be content. Psalm 3074 very famous verse, but most people misapply this verse. Most people most of you probably do because you don't know the context it probably Psalm 3074 delight yourself also in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart. But notice, delight comes before desires were told not coveting being a strong desire for how to get you desires to be right when you delight in the Lord.

But let me explain. So we have two sons and daughter. There is eight years difference from Josh to Elaine. So Josh and when James and then I prayed and prayed and prayed for little girl. Then Debbie got pregnant and I asked the Lord is a girl now own Josh and James, I had words on both them some your thinking why he does have a sonogram. We have sonogram spectrum okay we we rode dinosaurs to the hospital. I asked the Lord is a girl. Anyone saving anime. We went months. Anyone saving me when he was like nothing.

Nothing. And finally I said why won't you give me a word on this pregnancy. Is it a girl and said me very clearly my spirit your word. Delight yourself in the Lord. He will give you the desires of the city. Evidence of the girl and the Lord said to me once you figure out what that Scripture means it was like he sat there in the room will be in study.

The whole Psalm Psalm 37 David wrote in his later life wrote it probably is instruction. Solomon what he was saying yes it's going to look like that the wicked flourish and that the righteous don't that's what you look like not affect the word wicked is in Psalm 37 in my eye thing. It's been a while for the study, but more than any other chapter in the Bible 1414 times in one chapter he uses the word wicked in what he keeps saying as is talking to Solomon Ellen keep saying you have to learn to trust God first reaction says put your trust in God. Verse forces delight will.

Here's what he say if you'll come the place where you learn to be content with what Dodge provided for you. You won't be comparing yourself with other people whole X.

The whole context. But I will let you know this verse is different than what you think most people think that it needs.

If you serve the Lord will give you what you won't. That's not what it means. Listen carefully. It says if your initial trust in servant. Delight yourself in the Lord, he will actually give you the same of the way he'll actually put the rot desires in your heart delight. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you following the desires of your heart you'll actually put the desires.

If your content with whatever God has for so when I saw that a givens like Orbison across from me and I said Lord, whether it's a boy or girl. I'm going to be content is like Uganda and started walking out of the room got to the door and turned around and said good by the way, and she said there's room to if you'll be content with what God has for you will never ever afterward.

What a great story and wow I just want everyone I know to hear this message me to well we just want you to take a moment to think about what pastor Robert Scheer today and really listen to what the Holy Spirit seemed to get a copy of any of the messages in this relationship series visit pastor Robert Will call 833933 word again visit pastor Robert.com or call 833933 can also follow pastor Robert on Facebook and Instagram. We hope you had joined contentment. Thank you so much for your support and we pray you have blessed me
