Welcome to worship and the word with Pastor Robert included a series called perfect or perfect work. Pastor Robert has been helping us shift our focus from trying to be perfect and letting God perfect us as we walked closely with in today's message Pastor Robert is going to talk about what it means to be simply human.

This is incredible message soap. Let's join Pastor Robert alright so we are officially our our series today following series called perfect or prospective. So today I want to talk to about simply human… Something else been doing in my life literally for years, but especially the last three years and that's why want to help you today with this but being simply human rights, read your passage on Philippians 2 is one my favorite passages not ring the whole passage.

I memorized it shortly after I got saved by moderated out of the message worship because I really like the way the message says so. Philippians 2 verse five. Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself.

He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to clean for the advantages of that status.

No matter what not. It all when the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave became human wants this phrase is a wonder is I chose this passage I really like this place, how the message says it, having become human. A state human having become human.

The state human. It was an incredibly humbling process claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient that in the worst kind of death.

At that a crucifixion five. So you go through the streets outside. So number one we are not superhuman that I know you would say I know not superhuman. I'm telling you the way I like it.

Sometimes, by the things which I don't but were not superhuman. So let us know by look at verse 60 had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to clean to the bandages about status, no matter what objects, if there ever was a Superman Jesus right when I see the movies there there there about Jesus you know that the guy is not from this world he can fly so yeah so I don't member Jesus line in acts chapter 1, when he ascended into heaven he will try right in front of the ascended into heaven, they just didn't fly around all the time with, but he can fly, walk on water peak and raise dead people feel blind people from birth only if there was ever a Superman only is Jesus piece if there was ever a superhuman Jesus right. Although he was had equal status with God.

Later in other words, even though he'd he was superhuman.

He became a human in a state human think about all the times he was a human think about when Jesus would say get you anything and took him up on top of the temple until the jump reported Psalm 91 to know the angels will protect you quoted Scripture back and said no Laura go to God, but he also knew the laws of gravity theory was a human. He became a human any state. If you if you live within that that the limitations of being human. Although he had bright power to write a four picks up the uses of power and authority loaf, but he only uses power and authority to help people when I was growing up there was a TV show that I like a lot called Bonanza anybody remember Bonanza and I love the Cartwright's because they were good people and I love being Cartwright because he had a lot of power, but he use that power to always help people was always an underdog guy that people are trying to drive off his land or something being Cartwright said no you can stay overland because Betty Cartwright says you can stay on the line, you know there's something about Jesus is walking around he knows his acuity but he also knows that God has anointed him with the Holy Spirit. He's got the power of God working for him and he can help anybody you want. I like that but he knew he was accumulating to show you a couple scriptures about this humanity with 516 so he himself often withdrew into the wilderness and bright why because he knew as a human I need bright prayer. I need bright Matthew fortune when he fasted 40 days and 40 nights at 40 was hungry elites get hungry after fasting normal. Matthew 824 suddenly right campus arose on the safe so that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep. Human sleep PDAs slept when he was tired anyway was hungry and prayed as often as he could because he knew he was a human, so a liberalist earth 33 and half years as a human. Although it was the only superhuman but he still lived as a human, not wise. All this important because of where we started. Philippians 2 verse five. Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself.

How did he think of himself.

He thought of himself as a human. Now again I know that we would say that's Robert. I don't have any problem thinking of myself as a superhuman.

But I think we all did. I think we say yes way too much.

I think we commit to way too much. I think we overwork. There are times in my life there be times when I've been sick, like giving Vela stuff this last week, but I been sick on the weekend very very sick and still preached because I have to.

I felt myself before other people can be sick, I can't be sick I I have to be there. I have to leave this meeting I have to do this and then all these opportunities saying yes to everything. It's gets its thinking somehow that I can be superhuman, and this is something God said that work with and deal with them telling you I guarantee you, you might not use the word superhuman.

But you said yes way too much difference and we overcome it and we overwork for some reason every Easter. I felt like I should preach all the services live animal Easter a few years ago we would have truly Friday night three on Saturday night and the web for on Sunday.

The Lords rather than our normal three we added a sunrise service, but I preach so that was true Friday night three Saturday at five and for some it's not.

But then I'm just anyhow. I think sometimes being superstar superhuman baguette on a play on Monday I flew to Australia close to the gangs of the arts and I spoke for planet shaker skillet conference, spoke for Hill song in a conference then and I spoke for Hill.

Sorry for the week you may have a whole bunch of services by that week I was getting a migraine headache was getting worse and worse and worse by Monday after speaking into conferences and all weekend. +9 services a gateway the weekend before everything got worse and worse and worse and the medicine I was taken born, I had a doctor in the church. Some of the hotel room trying to help me give me shots doing always stop by again and also have developed and not that I started bleeding internally and that's not two years ago that was not in my stomach that bleeding problems. But this was in 2012 and I enough in the hospital we go into the hospital to check in and I literally walk in this little admitting room and while they're trying to check my information I pass out in the buzzer start going off in all that Debbie is in the waiting room and the next thing night she sees is there taken me through only birding you know through Putnam oxygen Bastogne and and they got everything they got the bleeding stopped.

No. But here's the point. Superhuman I can do it. I can preach all nine I can get on an airplane 524 hours. I can preach in a conference five times of the day to conferences. Oh yes, I can do that yes 77 weekend services. Yes, I can do that you can't in all resumption of personal illustration with you is I don't have your illustrations.

I don't live your life, but something's happened to you and you burned out worn yourself out worn yourself down a notch.

I just want you know you're not superhuman. You can't do it.

Jesus became a human having become a human bassoonist stated human stated human so number one were not superhuman euros number two were not subhuman under or below being a human.

Verse seven when the time change.

He set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave became human so he becomes a servant in this world there is bondservant linking James slave here, but it actually makes life a enslaved person. It's it's it's unbelievable that the what this word means in Jesus became but was he still saw. He wants and did he ever struggle with knowing even though he became a human and came to serve you did he come to be served by defendant to serve the ever struggle would be assigned knowing he was a son never never struggle with image imitation. When Satan comes to was if you remember, if you are the son of God. Jesus never even argued with him but as he was a son. So I talked about being subhuman. I am talking about the sometimes we feel like were worse than others, but here's the main reason we thought were worse than others are less than others. Here's some Irish because we feel like were less than a son or daughter. That's the problem probably does not compare yourself with someone else and feeling less than the problem is feeling less than a son or daughter of Christ, a son or daughter got that's where the probably from sick when you begin to feel like your less than someone else when you're actually feeling like I'm less than a son or daughter because all signs all daughters or equal to God all. There is no Jew or Gentile, is no male or female is no free or slave in Christ world people before got so there's a problem because we begin. If you like were worse at what we do as we look at our our performance. I have had this tendency might my whole life to look at others and feel like I'm just not as good as you know about total before Debbie is this wonderful person that came in our marriage very scarred and one very long intro. I thought of Mary Mother Teresa and is and I just always felt less layout felt not wanting to get around other people feel not wanting think about my past not feel outwardly. I just wonder think about this Abe say this, I will be 40 years now and every now and then the enemy still reminds me of my past. I am just being vulnerable with what about you there's a tendency in all of us to feel like were worse than others story in the Bible of the Pharisee and the prostitute prostitute guns and she anoints the feet of Jesus Bible says with her tears and she wiped his feet with her hair dried her tears with her hair.

So she's she's washing his feet with her tears and the Pharisee looks down on her and and thanks for the business woman if this man really a prophet going north on a woman's touch you and course to see success. You guys think the wife you are prophet Jesus that Helen talking waiting. He was a prophet but here's the point.

The Pharisee thought he was better than superhuman prostitute thought she was worse than subhuman and Jesus tells a parable to say no there about the same goal about the same verbose lacking when it comes to my father in your life you the exact same amount actually even though you think it's more and you think it's less you would like and sent someone to say something that is one of those statements that hope stays with you may never forget the statement there's a Pharisee and a prostitute and all of us.

There are times when all of us think we are better than other people. People who are like us, people who don't vote like us. People who don't have the same values that we have. Or maybe not even a Christian worldview with paper better than well.

We try to push that thought out immediately by underselling footprints or months until your other times we think were worse that the whole point of this message is I will keep driving it home were not super and were not so were simple or not super healings were not subhuman were simply humans were just wrong same level as for number three. We are simply to simply humans flipping history of our site, having become human.

He stated human. It was incredibly humbling process any claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death, and the worst kind about that that crucifixion. So was to keep this being human. Well the keys right there to live a selfless, obedient life and the die, selfless, obedient that even crucifixion.

In other words, God is self defense of Jesus say if you don't follow me. I need to take up your cross and follow me. Take up your cross say we think you know Jesus went to the cross so I wouldn't have to. I don't know why though he says yes but you got close to I need you to God. Also, and I need you to die everyday so for me to be human means that I will make mistakes, beat myself up on my mistake because I'm not subhuman I'm not worse than other people. I'm going allow myself to my mistakes.

I'm not going to strive for perfection. I'm going to just trust that I'm just a human with.

I know this seems almost so simple oversimplified that some years vacant never had a problem as Robert known I was just a human. I was talking with a couple a while back there going through some marriage difficulties and were talking about it and I said to him you know what, people go through.

The problem is a goal or goals are and one of them said outgoing people, so no woman said what about ID people know what about overachievers, no entrepreneurs, no so you're telling people deal with the problems dollar deal with the stimulus that humans humanistic. So we've got this thing. Our mindset somehow were superhuman but were not superhuman. As Christians, we struggle with things I gotta come the place were arrested in Christ. Now I will make another statement the Bible your wife guilt and shame take more people out than send us guilt and shame take more Christians out than soon because it's the way we think of ourselves and if you're ever going to overcome any weakness or a sin. You're only going to overcome Richard Rice. Gotta be done through grace. There 1189 chapters in the Bible, Moses took up two chapters of the Bible, arguing with God. Two chapters of 1189.

He takes up two chapters arguing telling God he is not good enough to do what God means Exodus 41 Moses answered said, but suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice. Suppose they say the Lord is not a parody.

Exodus 14 then Moses said, Lord, O my Lord, I'm not eloquent, I love this either before nor since you spoken to your server.

I can talk before and I can't talk now a full speech and slow time. Exodus 413 but he said oh my Lord please see him by the hand of whomever else you may see another would send anyone else but me and I love this one. Exodus 311 Moses said to God, who am I that I should go to Pharaoh now should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt. Who am I that I should do this now let me say in essence what God said as I got set you before you sign the question is not to argue the question is who I am and I was his answer.

By the way, you remember, he said thanks Moses sent me, so I say simply that you tell them I now sit. I found that I am the problem is not who you are. The problem is who I am and there's no problem with. I all I need you to do is just take that stupid stick and pick it up when I tell you. But all I need. I just need someone to carry a stick. I can part the Red Sea. I can turn the water in the blood. I can do it all about this.

I really don't need you that much. I just need you to show up and I can take care of the cemetery about another conversation I had with this consultant and the IR said to Montana, soever every stupid insecure thought I had a bottle as I will get about a person with sausage and one that said I said I meant one – you about the way people see me sit up and we'll talk about that thought was good. I think so. I simple some people don't don't know me at all that we some people see me as a pastor some sleep.

People see me as a pastoral large church or influential church is that some people and this is hard for me to understand some people see me as a famous person. Some people even see me as a celebrity and I know how to deal with and then he said to me while that's out. We really need to dive into this will take us a while and were almost on time so let's start here next time we meet there.

So problem is what you need to know. We meet every three months. Trust like three months we get back together would do some small talk on think yeah you care about your dog is jealous talk. Let's get in our session okay. Just today I want to start where we left off last time these and usually says really well.

You had me thinking about this for three months so I said I was telling you I am the problem, I don't understand why it affects me how people see I need to know what what is what is it matter how people see how does it affect a what was that matter. Just like that and he said oh it doesn't matter all the people sleep only three months for that. That's what we didn't have enough time to cover this way suddenly Barbara doesn't matter all the people so you matter site God sees you and mother. So you see yourself he said/she question you're the theologian. How does God see in this is a true three years ago before I even thought about the series and not I just said to be season is perfect, beset on how to use the lesson extremely flawed. He said that sweats will take us a while talk about this. I'm telling you, don't try to be a superhero superhuman don't see yourself as subhuman worse than others are just simply human listen, and that's good enough for God is good enough who want to take a moment to think about what pastor of the church today and really listen to with the Holy Spirit is saying to you if you want to connect with us or check out some of pastor Roberts.
