Is He a Person?

When a series called the God I never knew which is about the most misunderstood person in the Trinity Holy Spirit in today's message Pastor Robert shares how the Holy Spirit has a mind will and emotions and what that means for our relationship with us.

Robert has some very insightful things to share.

So let's join this week. The title of the message is is the personality thing why this is extremely extremely important question.

The answer there are entire theological persuasions I could name several that do not believe the Holy Spirit is a person they believe that he is a force or a power. The reason it is important to understand that he is a person and and it is clear in Scripture, it is clear in Scripture. He is a person we shot we saw last week and Jesus referring to him. But here's the reason it's important if you don't see him as a person, then you will never develop a personal relationship with him very important say if you don't see him as a person. Tell you what God desires in that situation because he is gone or are you following so the Holy Spirit is a person and let me give you these I want to explore each of these three points a little further.

So here's number one.

He has a mind Holy Spirit hands on mind but John 1613 says, however, when he the spirit of truth is gone.

Okay so again the obvious question is, since he has a will and since obviously his will is the will of God and you would like to know God's will for your life. This is one of the number one questions that Christians have and ideas. How can I know God's will. Well, there are two ways that you can know God's will. Okay, the general will of God and the specific will of God. The general will of God. We know by his word, the specific will of God.

We know by his voice when we give some examples. If you want to know how to be married how to treat your spouse if you want to know about marriage. It's in the Bible, the general will of God. But if you want to know whom to marry. It's not in their fibula which job to take if you want to know where to live or what house to buy. That's not in their but how to operate your finances in a scriptural way how to operate your business in a scriptural way how to be a godly husband and father.

That's in there but you know specifically how to deal with the gifting of each child. That's not in their how you don't do that. Listen, the Holy Spirit, he will guide you into all truth if you will know what to pray. Nominalism said what if you will know how to pray it similar by said Lord teaches break, how to praise him or if you will know what to pray. You have to know the Holy Spirit as a matter fact I might shock you none of you know what to pray and will say Scripture says we do not know what to bring. Only the Holy Spirit. How many of you have ever heard of Romans 828 never let Scripture shortly to remind you, it says, and we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those are called according to purpose okay. We all like that Scripture, when we go to verses right before Romans eight this I should turn your verse 26 and 27 likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. Generations that lived on this earth and only one person heard from God. During that generation is not a fact. There's a time for 400 years in the Bible, God did not speak to one person that we know of that we know he did not speak to one person and acceptor two on the day of Pentecost the room to cover that in the series. Peter stands up and says this is what the prophet Joel was speaking about that in the last days, pour out my Spirit on all flesh.

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy a prophesy unless you can hear God the Holy Spirit speak he says your young man will see visions, and your old man will dream dreams. By the way, I'm still seeing visions were living the greatest time because God can speak to you personally ever person can hear God through the Holy Spirit.

The personal spirit that I cannot say something this one the most important things a liver to value. I can hear God with you but not for you. The whole reason Jesus came was to have a personal relationship with you is always anything you can't have a personal relationship with someone through someone else see some will say well we have a relational father through the son white Jesus is God. A person has self-report all of the fruits of the spirit or characteristics of a person always first person okay now look at Ephesians 4, verse 30 says and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Okay, don't grieve the Holy Spirit less than grief is an emotion and it says that the Holy Spirit can be grieve and alert the Holy Spirit can have grief and regret. Ephesians about joy. Take joy and grief are emotions, and both of those verses are describing the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has feelings he has feelings, so this is don't grieve the Holy Spirit. Now remember one the best ways to find out the meaning of a passage is to see the context of the passage so will generate a few verses before and few verses after I see we figure out what grieve the Holy Spirit because we were told not to do so. You told not to do it when you want to know what does. But what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hear your and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness bidders would grieve the Holy Spirit laugh, clamor, and evil speaking, all that would grieve the Holy Spirit, be put away from you at all miles be kind to one another, cognizant one, the fruits of the spirit, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ, rigid again. Let me sum it up, what grieve the Holy Spirit see him when a believer walks and disintegrates Holy Spirit makes the Holy Spirit set why because the Holy Spirit loves you and when you walk in CN.

You're going to go to heaven because you go to heaven, not by works or by grace any other foundation that is a horrible foundation try to build your life, so he knows yelp will have eternal fellowship together. Because this person is truly safe.

But as long as this person walks in CN, we can have intimacy. So he's grieving because he lost intimacy with you.

You follow the same after I got saved a few months later is my birthday and Debbie sent me what you want for your birthday. I don't remember what I said. I just remember the next morning when I was meeting with the Lord is what I felt like the Holy Spirit said me what you will for me for your birthday Novella Mary thought about asking so what you asked me for birthday gift every year.

And so every year when my natural birthday comes around. I asked the Lord for something now I don't. It's not like I asked for Corvette in or something like that. I asked for something in my life to be able to be a better husband and father to take to walk more free, more freely in an area, things like that. Okay so that year so anyway that was one of effort at safe so years later, when you go back. I was turning 30 years old, Jesus began his ministry. We start a union always is like a big deal to me spiritually. Lord said what he won't for 30 birthday and I thought about it for a while and I said I want to really hear you more clearly. I want to build the hear you for my family to minister to people I want to build the hear you. So that weekend. My birthday was on Monday that Friday Saturday Sunday I was speaking in the conference there were three of a speaking conference. I spoke Friday night and it was just amazing. I mean, it was amazing. I'm rethinking I'm already getting my my birthday wish from the Lord. I went back to the hotel room. I was by myself traveling like them.

I don't travel by myself anymore but I was traveling alone and I was flipping through the channels and something came own that I shouldn't watched you know I'm always very honest with you some of you this is happened and some of you, you know I'm not falling in this area and some of you have but I watch something that I should not watched in the next night in the service. It was totally different from the night before. Now I knew I prayed and asked for forgiveness. I confess it to the Lord. I confess that the Debbie even. But it was just something was different.

What happened was I had listened I had grieve the Holy Spirit.

I lost intimacy because he knew if I quit back down that line that I came out of that it would ruin my life. Nothing. He was great on Sunday morning.

The speaker got steak and he was an older man again. I was turning 30, I think Elia ministry is about my age and he was in his 70s and he said I will speak on something that's different than what I was going speak only selling to speak on grieving the Holy Spirit and he talked about how that will have a sin in our life that the Holy Spirit says to us, don't do that. Don't do that and we are in essence this is how we grieving we stiff arm but then when we go to minister to people we want him to speak to us, but when he speaking to us about a CN we say we don't listen to you now. But then we turn right around and said okay and am teaching a small group or something when you come now speak to me since I so I'm sitting on the front row is one of the speakers. The conference I'm thinking these things talk about and then he said this, he said in the Lord told me to tell you whatever that sin is if you come to the altar date of such free and I felt I need to go, but I'm one of the speakers of the conference in a and then I had this thought. I thought we know what they're not going to think you know that it's less than I don't think that someone speakers that they want to think probably that I don't pray enough. I don't read my Bible enough and right when I thought that this this aldermanic speaking step, trauma that you don't pray enough. You don't read your Bible. He said I'm talking about that you have a very a shameful, rotten CN in your life and the Lord said me go now, but this fellow. He said if you'll go set you free. Sonja gave invitation.
