Welcome to worship in the word with pastor Robert Morris.

We are in a series called the God I never knew what pastor Robert biblically explains who the Holy Spirit is what his chief desire is and what he promises to do in our lives today were learning about Pentecost what it is what happened on that day and asked him how can we have the same life-changing experience as those in the New Testament while Pastor Robert has some incredible things to share. So let's join with enough. I want you to turn to acts chapter 2 World Series called the God I never knew talk about the Holy Spirit because when I grew up I didn't hear much about the Holy Spirit and why did hear about the Holy Spirit was bad and so I was little afraid of them, and so we been answering questions every week. This is the third week of the series.

The first week was who is the who is this guy second week last week was is he a person because some people don't believe he's a person is a person this week. I got they had a great title for you. Here's the title this week is the Pentecostal I mean because you know I will things about him and so fast you trying to tell us about this guys, I just just just laid on the line is he Pentecostal because we know that John was a Baptist ghetto was in the Bible says straight out John the Baptist your mouse okay so is the and then I would guess this all the time.

Nor we Pentecostal are way you know well just let you know were were kind of what were gonna bad the coastal that's all right, all right.

I went to the Baptist school East Texas Baptist University personal Bible college and FIFA for my foundation, but we believe fully and the person in the work of the Holy Spirit, as do many Baptist churches that were not a part of the Baptist denomination were not a part of the Pentecostal denomination or nondenominational church but doesn't like us special. There a lot of denominational churches of the great churches. So were were not unique, and in that sense of being special or better they on at all. And don't you ever think that bulimia put it this way, we we believe in water baptism but were not part of the Baptist denomination. We also believe in spirit baptism but were not part of the Pentecostal denomination young sensei. So when we say is the Holy Spirit Pentecostal if by Pentecostal you mean that ladies can't wear pants and I can't wear makeup and by the way, I love makeup for the ladies ladies clarify the nothing going on around the house that you know about all right okay so so for ladies okay alright so but that's only talking about how not putting down people who have that belief.

Please don't ever put down someone is sincere in his or her believe I don't do that. But if by Pentecostal we mean the biblical definition of the word Pentecost and that we believe fully in the person and the work of the Holy Spirit and we believe that Pentecost is the fulfillment of the feast of Pentecost, and we believe that every believer needs a vital relationship with the Holy Spirit and yes and yes. The Holy Spirit is Pentecostal but not according to some historical or cultural or or maybe even denominational definitions so to answer this question we need to answer some other questions right.

So here's the first one. What what is Pentecost say lobby don't even know what Pentecost is so accepted to look at verse one it says when the day of Pentecost had fully come, explain to you what it means fully come when they Pentecost arrived, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Okay going to give you little backsplash about Pentecost. There were three major feasts in Israel. In the first month the third month in the seventh month of the calendar and all this role is to gather Jerusalem and sometimes together in other cities but it was to be Jerusalem, and to celebrate these fees and they all represented something okay Passover represented when the spirit of death passed over the children of Israel when they were in Egypt. Passover was the first major feast Pentecost and then Tabernacles right now with in those you probably heard the seven feats of Israel within Passover. There are three feast within Tabernacles there three-phase and you have the feast of Pentecost. A get the seventh within Passover. Yeah, the feast of unleavened bread and also the feast of firstfruits, and yet Pentecost 50 days after Passover and then you have Tabernacles, which includes the feast of trumpets and the feast of the day of atonement and the feast of Tabernacles. Our boots as it's called sometimes and I can explain that but I don't have time to going all that I so what is this this case that they're celebrating Pentecost. You need to know was the celebrating of the giving of the law on Mount Sinai can happen 50 days after Passover believe they want the word Pentecost means okay you can probably figure it out a little bit into these five from the great board meets five okay but the Pentagon, the Pentagon is five sided Don size. Aside five sided. It's a five sided building type picked up cost me to the 10th power so. The cost me 50th and then he says when the day of Pentecost the public on this. What he means is when the 50th day arrived. That's that's what makes a deck so the word Pentecost means 50th. But when you think about this. How many of us have a negative connotation of the word Pentecost annually but against 50 okay let's listen to me 58 scary. That's a scary word and it 50 what actually is a developmental birthday but anyway they might be still alien final Jeremy scared of the word Pentecost and award that's in the Bible. Now it was 50 days after Passover, but G but God knew that his son was going to resurrect on the day after the Sabbath, and that Jesus would be on the earth 40 days and 40 is an important number the Bible and that there be praying 10 days at 50 someone show you something that because if you if you're like me and the numbers add up in your mind you think will the Holy Spirit become 50 days after Passover, when you got Jesus died on Passover Holy Spirit pay 50 days after the resurrection, and he raised on the first day like Sunday. It was left out or show you something God did in the law.

All right because Passover could've fallen on a Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday whenever so Leviticus 23 verses 15 and 16, says you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering seven Sabbath seven Sabbath 77 weeks Sabbath and one day a week shall be completed militaristic state count 50 days to the day after the Sabbath, Sabbath, then you shall offer a new grain offering more okay here's here's just I love the Bible I just love the Bible. Think about this, they were celebrating Pentecost the giving blockade 50 days after Passover.

But God knew that his son would Donald Passover, but would resurrect on the day after the Sabbath, so inability says what you start celebrating his feast don't start counting until the day after the Sabbath the matter with the Passover is on Tuesday or Friday or what went on the day after Sabbath. That's for you count the 50 days because God knew Jesus to be here 40 days as I was quite 10 days and so he wanted the Holy Spirit to come on the exact 50th that now I just think that's cool that God likes mastery like I like math. I took it all works out.

So what is the cost.

Are you ready again. Don't be scared to say it 50 that's all that's all the word means is 50 okay so here's the question what happened at Pentecost.

What happened at Pentecost. All right, we stopped there, I will come back, reverse, history, and 40 minimax statement. Look at verses five and six and there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, the about and from every nation under heaven, from every nation, every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred this mighty rushing wind, the holy though the multitude came together, and were confused. I want you remember the word confuse is welcome at that because everyone heard them speak in his own language takes other people from every nation there, confused, and they hear this their own made their own language they understand. This think about this back in Genesis 11 is the story of the Tower of Babel. Remember that they all spoke one language, but they were gathered in rebellion. On the day of Pentecost they were gathered in submission as a teller Babel. They were gathered in product Pentecost they were gathered in militant on the day on the teller. Babel, they all had one language dog came down in confused what he says confuse their language and they scattered every nation on the day of Pentecost, they all came back together and God restored a pure language to and they heard the wonderful works of God.

Pentecost is the blessed reversal of the cursed judgment of that every nation every try every Tom if you want to know. By the light is what heaven shall be like every nation, the grid coordinates nation is at every group praising the half that's what heaven to look like and he started at Pentecost. Okay so when the law was given there was a loud noise. The cloud descended. There was fire.

God wrote his law on tablets of stone and owned that day when the law was given 3000 people died on the day of Pentecost.

There was a loud noise almost regarded there was firewood and read about in a minute. The fire there was fire. God wrote to the cloud descended. They were led by fire about a club at the liver led by the spirit. But the spirit descended. God wrote his law on man's parts and 3000 people were saved, if you haven't figured it out yet.

This a good book.

This is a great book and it's just amazing how it all comes together like this. So the day of Pentecost is the fulfillment listed weight when God gave the law they couldn't keep it. Maybe you haven't read the book, but maybe seen the movie Moses is getting law laws as thou shalt not commit adultery. You know what they're doing at the bottom of the mountain, commit adultery before the just pardon the expression that before the ink is even dry by broken the law. When the Holy Spirit comes. He writes golf God's righteous standard on your heart when you put it another way, Jesus came to make us in right standing with God because we could never be in right standing with God. Holy Spirit comes so that we can live righteously. He comes to empower us if you think you could live in this fallen since field demonic world without the power of the Holy Spirit. You're in for a rude awakening. You need the power of the Holy Spirit. So here's the third question can I experience Pentecost. Can I change you can I can.

We today experience Pentecost because they will or will in the day the Holy Spirit came 2000.

So can we experience it might well back in chapter 2 verse three says that he appeared to them divided tongues now leave that up for this moment just so you see this the word see the word divide their look at the via deviance by letting those two syllables deviant guide DIV. I didn't think about another word in DMV Ed, you'll in the event you all affect. So when we think of divide raising of something bad that this just means the body times means individual talk.

Everybody got one.

That's what he meant.

Okay, so there apparently on individual comps as a fire and lawn sat upon each of them noticed each of them. Everybody okay and they were all all filled with the Holy Spirit and begin to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now when we go back again because tongues is a scary work that many people tongues come from the Greek word bossa bossa did you think of anyone when I get from that glossary just means language and they begin to speak with other languages as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.

I listen again it's not unilaterally afraid when someone says tongues don't be afraid of that because it means language. All these people heard the wonderful works of God in their own language. Since I don't be afraid to ever be afraid of reading the Bible. Whatever religious upbringing who had ever if it made you afraid of the Bible. Something is wrong with every afraid to read the Bible, so please tongues came in there was a time the fire in everyone's head case was on top your hip site. This way if it happened today. You could see a tongue of fire on top of my and I be able see a tongue of fire on top of your head now. My personal opinion is that you could see your own tongue of fire is India. Every time you look in okay and they like that I here's the reason I'm telling you this is because you have to believe by faith that there was a tongue of fire on your head to know how you receive Jesus yet received by faith that right and I receive the Holy Spirit by faith.

You got a really were hundred 20 people in the operating so this baptism in the Holy Spirit wasn't just for the 12 wasn't just for the people on the platform is forever want everyone got a ton of fun. But you have to believe it.

You say why I know. Best, Robert got one and I see so-and-so's got one soldiers got one well know, I have one not know everyone got it. Are you following is very important so the question is cannot cannot experiences okay what did I chapter 1, just maybe back one page.

Look at verse four. This is right before Jesus is the and being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the father beat you see the word promise date say one single word, promise.

It's very important. Wait for the promise of the father, which he said you heard from me for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days now. Okay, so Jesus says wait for the promise and he tells them with promises.

It's the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Someone say that it's simple, it's clear you can make that be anything else. Wait wait don't go anywhere until the promise comes what is the promise well you… What originally baptized with the spirit of the promise is the baptism of the Holy Spirit right now look at our chapter 2, the Holy Spirit comes Peter stands up and preaches and then some of them say what what do we have three what should we do here is Peter's answer asked versus 3839 then Peter said to them, repent, and let everyone of you be baptized. This is water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. We understand that it's not one gift. If the Holy Spirit is the gift you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit know what first 30 on carefully for the promise did Jesus call this the promise and what is the promise the baptism in the Holy Spirit right for the promise is to you and to your children and all who are afar off, as nearly as the Lord our God will call. They were trying to answer the question what can I receive it today selling alive tonight. When asked to happen only live active cannot receive it today that Jesus said the promise is the baptism the Holy Spirit.

And this promise is for you and for your children and all who are far off that you didn't realize this when it says all who are afar off, that is a direct reference to Robert Morris because I was afar off, and you were to even if you are church member, you are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call the God call you.

So the promise is still for you and I so remember to replace Passover, Pentecost, tabernacles take the fulfillment of Passover Passover was fulfilled on the day Jesus died on the day Jesus died, members Passover, unleavened bread and firstfruits in that first speech Passover is when a lame spotless lamb was shed for the sins of the people as Jesus by the light on the very day that they were cutting the lamb stroke. They were to cut the landfill at 9 o'clock. That's when the nailed Jesus to the cross at 3 o'clock they were to take the lamb them prepared appointment of an electric plot that took his body off the cross and put it in the a completely full Passover fulfill peasants, then they would take up a loaf of unleavened bread loaf of unleavened bread and the father would find a summer in the house and you when you pull it out.

He pull it out the morning after the Sabbath, and he would waive it before the Lord as I symbol of the firstfruits harvest is a firstfruits is a symbol of the harvest to come, when the father is pulling the loaf out of being hidden somewhere Jesus is coming out, but the two is the symbol of the firstfruits of the harvest to come at all and all I so Passover has been fulfilled, was looking like pinnacles tabernacles what's tabernacles tabernacles include three face, the feast of trumpets. The feast of atonement and the feast of Tabernacles look at you need understand. One day, the Tabernacles has not been fulfilled yet but it will be fulfilled. One day because of trumpets, sound, trumpet sound, there shall be a judgment because of the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ going to get the tabernacle with God for all eternity. See that's going to be fulfilled. So have a question for you. Can you experience the fulfillment of the feast of Passover in a large can you receive Jesus as your spotless lamb died for your sins can blame it on the line back say this is the argument against the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which is ridiculous. It is ridiculous, but all are set, it is ridiculous because we want to live back. We sure missed out on some really wonderful, dimly take you can experience the fulfillment of Passover right now right. But what about when the trumpet sound, but if you're not alive when the trumpet sounds. Can you experience the fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles. This if you believe in Jesus but trumpet sounds.

Even if your dad that he possibly runs right so why explain please explain it to make why we can experience the fulfillment of the feast of Passover, and we can experience the fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles, but we can experience the feast fulfillment of the feast of Pentecost simply because only one library until you can experience it you can be filled with the Holy Spirit. Just like the disciples were in the hundred and 20 were in the upper even though you are in the lab. I have a friend, Dr. Peter Lord. Some of you might've heard of him a passion for 30 Years Park Ave., Baptist Church in Titusville, Florida and great man of God and is preaching a series on the Holy Spirit and he had been trained by his theological upbringing that that was back then we can receive it today. So he's studying and all of a sudden the Lord said this about them is what time and said, have you received the Holy Spirit and he said wall. Of course, Lord Reese of the Holy Spirit lives in.

When I got say the Holy Spirit came to live in. And that is correct. Hello spirit lives in my of course I've received and at that time invented just a few months. His mother-in-law, his wife's mother had come.

She needed come live with them. She come to live with and the Lord said your mother-in-law lives in your house and have you received her not fully in the Lord said to him, and the Holy Spirit lives in your house because of your upbringing you have not fully received and I'm asking you. Have you fully received the Holy Spirit.
