Yelling tonight from these increase in business over time, the claimant go to court. Just look at Daniel spirituality, and wisdom was so vibrant even at page 90 was sold by a king today on Turning Point.

Jeremiah continues the series. The handwriting on the look at how Daniel responded to the summons and how it can help you grow with this statement. She is his message.

What we are studying the book of Daniel covered the series is called handwriting on the wall, but we are in the fifth chapter right now and were in that signature part of the book where Bill Shatzer has a party and all of a sudden the hand of God is writing on the wall and the messages that they had been weighed in the balances and found wanting. Right now we have our Bibles opened the Daniel five it's time to get started.

So let's find out what's going on in this message. Called weighed and wondering the exciting story of this… Occasion of the life of Shatzer, the grandson of King Nebuchadnezzar.

You remember the first four verses we talked about the feast of Bill Shatzer that we talked about the finger of God, the feast of Bill Shatzer, the finger of God and in verses five through nine, we discussed in verse five the supernatural sign when the hand rolled on the sobering significance.

Verse six when the king was so frightened his knees together all the vertebrae in his back came loose and he could stand up and couldn't sit down and he was scared out of his mind and his face turned and then we discussed in verses seven through nine simultaneous summons because at the moment the king was scared to death let out a shriek. Scripture says he cried for all of his brain trust or commitment telling what was going on and as usual you have a Score. There are now over three they didn't do anything that night either. And they never will because the natural man receive is not the things of this God.

Neither can he know them, they are spiritually discerned. That brings us to verse 10.

I want to give you the next part of the outline name of Daniel verses 10 through 16.

The faithfulness of Daniel verses 17 through 29 and the fall of Babylon versus 30 and 31 and will have some other points. Under all that is were looking now at the flame of Daniel twice in this section of Scripture king Belshazzar says that he's heard of Daniel, even though he had never used them in his kingdom knowingly. He was at the fringe area of Delta sizes range in verse 14 he said I never verse 16 he repeats it. He said even I have heard of you. Daniel was a famous man, a famous part of the history of babbling as we look at the fame of Daniel we come. First of all to the recollection of clean verses 10 and 11 recollection of the Queen. She said there is a man, the Queen remembered Daniel somewhere in the palace live the Queen Mother. She was most probably not Bill Sasser's wife. Scripture says in verse two. The wives and concubines of the kings of the princes were present in the drunken orgy what was going on in the banquet hall. More than likely those hazards wife was there. She was probably the Queen Mother or the daughter of Mexican measure and the wife of Mama nighters was well Sasser's father. She obviously knew all about measures. Rain, she recalls with great detail what Daniel had meant to measure and she walks into the hall that night.

Having heard the noise and having heard the rumor of what happened in the banquet hall she walks into the hall with drunkenness and partying is in full sway, and she begins to recall working the ministry of Daniel as she remembered it. It seems evident by her words that Daniel was not at the core of the Babylonian government certainly not under Belshazzar like he had been under medicaments are he must have been assigned to some lower echelon. He probably had been given some insignificant position. I have an idea why it is quite probable that when Belshazzar came to power and he lived the kind of life that he lived 40 was nothing but a drunken spoiled brat. You realize that having Daniel around wouldn't be very advantageous to his kingdom silly assignment someplace were out of sight was out of my so you forgotten about you know anything about me, just put them aside even pushed aside with the Queen Mother had never forgotten his role in the life of her father she know now Daniel was almost 90 years of age he was the only hope in the kingdom for interpreting what was written on the plaster wall that night so she begins to tell Bill Shatzer what she knows about Daniel. I want to notice that three times. She reminds Bill Shatzer that Daniel had been involved with his grandfather the word father in the text also stands for grandfather because the Chaldeans in Hebrews were grandfather the word father refers to any ancestor. Three times she says no discounts graphically illustrated in verse 11. Like the wisdom of the gods was found in him whom the king could measure thy father and I say my father.

She said another word processor. This was connected with your grandfather measure you need to take no what I'm going to say. She recalls Daniel Fleming to stop and ask this question when your ministry is over and here at the end of your life. Someone remembers what you were like to see your ministry and your life is a Christian, what will they remember. Notice what she remembered about him. First of all she remembered him as a significant man. She said there is all contrived. They couldn't do it in throughout all the kingdom. Nobody seemed to know what to do, but there was a man, and in the mind of that Queen. He was a significant man. There was a man among men in that man's name was Daniel. She remembered Daniel Samantha stood out among the masses as a significant person. Secondly, this is exciting. She remembered Daniel was a spiritual man. She said there is a man in whom is the spirit of a holy God. It's the same forays that Nebuchadnezzar used three times in the fourth chapter as we study that chapter we saw maybe could measure say three times that Daniel was a man who holy God, you find that in chapter 4 verses 89 and verse 18. And these are the same words that she used that were used by her father that Daniel was a man filled with the spirit of a holy God's spiritual man, when really it when you finish your ministry and you were in your twilight someone who was alive remembered your life and ministry came so spiritual man what a thrilling thought. Thirdly, she remembered him as a superior man in verse 12. She says that he was a man who had an excellent spirit, the phrase literally means in the language of the text a man of surpassing the ability he's a man who was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of what he was what he did.

And, of course, in verse 11 were also told that he was made Master over all the other wise men. He was above the rest, he stood out in the crowd. Daniel had superior qualities.

The Queen Mother remembered she thought about Daniel in her mind's eye. She pictured the scene back in the rain of her father was one man stood out from all the rest. Because of the superiority that is also remembered him as a sensible man these phrases that she used to describe his wisdom are exciting. She said he was a man filled with enlightenment. That means he had keen insight into things that were going on that day. He was a man of understanding mental reflection on events of his day. He was a man of wisdom, that is, he had discernment and he was a man of knowledge. His head was filled with information. He was a man of sensibility. You know I was thinking as I was studying this passage that the only thing they remembered about any of us is that we had good sense that be something in this day and age when then she goes on to remember him as a skillful man. These five things the Queen Mother remembered about Daniel and when there was a need for his ministry. She recalled she said it was skillful because interpreting dreams and he revealed riddles and hard sentences in the last one.

He says he saw Alex. That's a very interesting phrase literally means he was able to handle not problem he was able to go into the heart of the problem and discern it and figure it out. That's the kind of man he was. So she stood there that night in the hall when all politicians were drunk and Belshazzar was scared. She said when he takes up about the significant pizza. He sensible he skillful goes as if you got a set you right now so verses 13 to 16 we see the king. He's calling Daniel now get the picture. Folks, Daniel is an old man in his late 80s or early 90s and is ushered into the banquet hall where a thousand politicians are seated around tables and King. Six there and start tear the wall where there is a writing is interesting that Daniel wasn't present at the time when he was needed.

In fact, if you go back in the history of this book you will discover that he wasn't present when Nebuchadnezzar had his first dream he wasn't present when Nebuchadnezzar had a second dream I wasn't present at the written message that God wrote on the wall and he was clearly never present when the humanist pagan counselors were called in first to give their he is always by himself away from the drunkenness away from the partying and away from the secular humanist counselors all by himself and when they go through all the trappings to try to figure out what's going on their last resort, and he is ultimately call there's an old English preacher by the name Joseph Parker just been a great blessing to many preachers down from the age. Joseph Parker is a good word for all of us were preachers on this passage. This is what he said. He says preachers of the word. You will be wanted someday by Bill Shatzer you were not at the beginning of the feast, you will be there before the banquet hour is closed, the king will not ask you to drink wine but he will ask you to tell the secret of his pain and heal the malady of his heart. Just wait your time. Preachers you are nobody now who cares for preachers and teachers in Sears bit of insight while the wind goes around in the feast is unfolding.

It's tempting look what the preacher will have his opportunity they will send for him when all other friends have failed. They need then, fearlessly, independently, asking only to be a channel through which divine communication can be addressed, then maybe speak to the listening trouble of the world" that's a good work. You know sometimes we preachers we read what the press is about us and how important we are usually used to have a list of the most important professions were not even on the list more. We were so far down in the thinking people want to something friend was coming a day when preachers are going to be more significant than they are in the prelude to the tribulation and will live through the prelude even though we won't live through the tribulation.

When things start to heat up more than they are to see the churches were Bible preaching pastor's teach and preach the word of God jammed to the rafters in the Arnold would be Christians either come to hear what God has to say there was a time when Bill Shatzer decided it was all right to hear the preacher and called for Daniel well in verse 13, Daniels ushered in before the king. Now notice became first inquires as to whether Daniel was the same Daniel was taken by medicaments. Another something going on here. You want to miss picture in your mind's eye became sitting at his table.

He's got the golden chalice that he stole out of the temple that he walked from the place where it was stored in babbling and he spilled his wine and he's been holding that up to the gods of gold and silver and bronze and stone and he's got chalice in his hand. I just have to believe that Daniel marches in the form he stands right in front of the first thing the kingdom is that chalice looks at Daniel that is Daniel, you're not that Daniel came over here to babbling the same time we stole these vessels are you're not the same.

Daniel came over here when we brought the hostages and we took the vessels from the temple and brought in chapter 1. That's what he's asking is, he's under so much conviction he is convicted by the presence of judgment on the walls and ceiling his hands in the proper confronting someone. He said this is not Daniel before Belshazzar.

This is best as a report. Daniel just like Felix and Paul will verse 14 he repeats the same list about Daniel that the Queen had given with one exception.

I just point this out back over all of this.

Yes, the word excellent before the last word in the verse. That's the only difference the rest of the words are exactly the same words, the Queen used to describe any verse 15. He reports the failure of his own brain trust to interpret the writing justice today secular natural wisemen cannot know the things of the spirit of God. He says he brought all my brain trust and I asking this question. I didn't know anything about it. So Daniel, I'm back down to you.

It's the last resort: on God that brings us to verse 16 where he promises Daniel that he will reward him if he tells him what he wants to hear knowledge of the notice. This the only thinking Belshazzar knew by way of motivation was the only thing the world most of day. The only motivation the world knows how to give even the spiritual people's position and possessions and power. Daniel, you tell me what I want to know and I'll give you a good position to give you great possessions and outputting your hands great. That's the way the world works silly kind of motivation they know you walk out of the marketplace today in the whole world is revolving around those three things – that's all the world knows Daniel, you do what I want you to have all those things. Now here's where it gets exciting.

We come to the faithfulness of Daniel verse 17 to 29.

Transfer yourself and that Royal Bank: listen for just a moment there stands the tall and reverent problem he has not over simply for the K you have anything to say about those as you know, you learn when Daniels involved you really came to like them okay. Remember when he was interpreting the drain back in the fourth chapter he realizes he came to grips with the dream.

It was bad news for the king, and he said Nebuchadnezzar I wish this is true, but fortunately you could see the heart of Daniel burning because of his love for Nebuchadnezzar, but I'll tell you something in the love Bill Shatzer except the spirit of God. Belshazzar has seen the holiness of Daniels God anything to gets to the heart of the holy Prophet no-shows are lifted up wine to the pagan gods with vessels that belong to the holy God. Daniel stands in front of him like hot and righteous indignation that belongs to the prophetic office is burning with so his voice and his brow and his words is composed manner and solemnity are all accord with who wrote those awful words on the wall she Daniel knew he was about to order some of the last words that battle royal center or whatever. Here in this life.

I like what he did. First of all four things.

The first thing he did was he refused. The king's gifts notice Daniel answered verse 17 is okay to myself and give your rewards to somebody else while in the vernacular today.

You can hang it on your nose respected Nebuchadnezzar, but he rejected Bill Shatzer and it is obvious as you study this Daniel has developed a holy hatred for the sin of this wicked king. He refused his gifts because he didn't want to be obligated to like Abraham and the Old Testament remember Abraham when he went out there he met the King Solomon the king of Sodom will be given. Always nice things I love Abraham is at the same time.

That's great news. Is what he said.

Abraham said to the king of Sodom.

I am the Lord most high God.

The possessor of heaven and earth that I will not take from even in that I will not take anything that is thine westbound soon to say I have made Abraham in Genesis 1422 and 23 g of look you keep your stuff I need your stuff breast-feeds power position don't mean anything to a man of God, so Daniel told me can hang on to the refused his gifts.

Now he's like Samuel, let me just give you some things right down in your notes. Some other men of God have done everything I mentioned Abraham if you want to see Samuel's integrity like that to go to first Samuel chapter 12 verses 1 to 5 new stories told and Moses is the same way numbers chapter 16 in verse 15 and Paul in acts 20. In verse 33 says I have coveted no man silver and no man's goal messes with Daniel St. Belshazzar is keep your gifts to give your favors to somebody else. He refused the king's gifts now know to secondly Daniels working into a sermon to preach a sermon of this king is found exciting because he's warming up to having refused his gifts. He reviews his heritage and his history notice. Then Daniel answered and said all about paying the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar the father kingdom and majesty and glory and honor and majesty litigated multiple nations in language trembled before him.

Call me when he slowed me what he kept alive and will be what he set up and we would put down when his heart was lifted up his mind hardened in pride he was deposed from his kingly throne and I took his glory from him was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beast, his dwellings with the wild asses me fighting with grass like oxen and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till he knew that the most high God ruled the kingdom of men appointed over it.

Whomsoever he will.

That's all. Chapter 4 simply reminder to Bill Shatzer what happened to his grandfather see the purpose of siding history and the reduction to a sermon was in order to help Belshazzar see himself in the same ways as was Nebuchadnezzar as related to God and then he points his finger at Belshazzar and he indicts having reviewed the history of his kingdom and his heritage gets done with little historical review now puts his finger right in the nose of Belshazzar and he says, but having reviewed his heritage. Now comes the rebuke is I want you to notice that he brings three charges against Belshazzar as he rebukes first of all charges him with pre-meditated sin. Pre-meditated sin.

Verse 22 and Belshazzar has not humbled thine heart now underlying this all about Miller's all… No boundaries old. What how God deals with a proud man how God takes a man who defies and brings them low. Belshazzar knew it all just in the face of sin the same way as his grandfather know the word although in the text literally should be translated by the words in front of even though this whole thing was in front of you so still. In fact, most commentators believe that those shares are not only did this in ignorance. But he did it deliberately, presumptuously with Molly.

He did what he did not in spite of what he knew but because of what he knew. He purposely desecrated these vessels saving God and he wasn't in all. Maybe my grandfather was about you but I'm not done what's this, those wine vessels before when an act of desecration so defiant in the face of the Almighty.
