He's only one year in an age differs from Elvis and he was at the radio station working in radio when the records would come in from Sun records and go play this record and it was a hit. I talked to Biggs, to all our what I just posted earlier this week for big national shows do you go will show you get to hear the conversation right here and right now, don't worry about: it is prerecorded, but you'll hear why will you love this movie are hated with your loved Elvis or didn't think much of them. So join us right here right now for truth talk. Thanks for being on board with us today and for listing share this with all your friends when it comes out as a podcast.

And thank you all of her awesome affiliates brave enough to carry this program through stock now joints Biggs do a little stew me as we are in the studio right now from the previous show this week talking about Elvis. Okay, it's all Elvis hour and is were all live here honor to be with you. Elvis Pressley did you see the movie. What are your thoughts about this person. Elvis has left the building. What kind of impact impression has he left on the world on the country number one selling artist single album or's solo artist in history and the movie good or bad.

What are your thoughts what kind of impact did the movie have on you. Did you hate it. Did you love admit I'm here all kinds of people saying things like they couldn't stand the movie upset our own Christian car guy. He's very frustrated and rightly so, was or not enough gospel and there was or not enough gospel music that he saying was was there not a enough of other genre of music that he was known for was a two boogie-woogie was a too edgy was it to dark talk about whatever else the culture talking about the man who was known as the King of rock 'n' roll. And who better to talk to about this then my mentor and a man who is okay.

I gotta figure this out. Is he one is a one year older, or one year younger than what Elvis would be today and that is Biggs to Stu Epperson senior Mr. adversary. There are air okay let's eat okay pops you there. I'm here right good afternoon okay so did you see this movie and tell us your thoughts on it. I saw the movie I lived through the era of expression.

It was one year older than I was born 35. I think 35 hours at this jockey had radio station in the Richmond meant that Richard Junior market 19 about 1955 got a letter the package and the veil was a record 45 RPM of someone name Elvis Pressley was the son records son records out of Memphis so we played it like we did all the right, no one ever heard of the artist which was Elvis Presley and one side while it was the cow blues and it had a rather another side but what was remarkable about that thing I did have an opinion about them. No one had any Elvis Presley that no one knew it. I put it on the radio. PVA and I started getting these call amazing complaint calls or handles people loved it is just a picture Richard to put that songwriter Jim we can't hear you.

To owner talk right in that speaker. I guess your people love it love it very much and so we Plan we kept it a record. A little later son records sold a contract with Elvis Presley to RCA Victor and they sent out a record called the jailhouse rock and that was the big every other call we got there he called back then radio as we get what you get 200 letters a day wanting a vacant dedication to someone on your son saw and we just did that we that was a different era and then bond.

The music was for about Frank Sinatra of Bing Crosby.

But sadly, Elvis Presley. Get the same and allows rock was the first big dad, and that it was nominal. And after that we started getting records in the mail than just a guy was playing as an extra on some of the shows Berlin house again and the grand ole Opry stars actually wanted to be a contribution and before that even he was singing in church. Turns out his family were very very much Christian, especially his mother, Gladys, and they went to a Assembly of God Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. Then they moved to Memphis where Elvis pestered Sam Phillips with son records you actually had to actually gamble with and put a record of the printer record and send it out.

The radio station that was really the beginning was the beginning nobody had any idea what was going to happen when Elvis came it was like a big earthquake was the change Wednesday change in music and that gave that gave birth to a lot of people who started dating Elvis and suddenly we then let it rock rock 'n' roll team. Rock 'n' roll Elvis Presley. We are taking a quick break we have Biggs to Mr. Epperson.

My dad do is just one year has one years difference in his life, and Elvis Presley E still with us. Talk about this man is legacy and what you learned from that movie would you ask God what he learned about the fleeting nature of life and what was your impact what you have on you. Here's a question was Elvis, a Christian, you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com is so while you little heartbreak. I can tell you this, go to the Elvis Presley movie. Now I'm not saying don't go and I'm not just saying that to discourage or disparage because I'm talking a lot of people, including our guest Mr. Epperson who went and loved it and because he grew up with Elvis literally one year apart in age and he was there at the radio stations when they sent the vinyls in from the record labels to for DJs to critique the the music and play the music it was.

It was a big marketing thing, son records and they went to RCA and it is just but he blew up just became bigger than life of and that's Elvis Presley, the king of rock 'n' roll. And so I would to this movie with my wife and wow it was something it was just to. It was heartbreaking but it was to see things and see it particularly his his love for African-Americans growing up in that short scene being inspired. I think one of the things I heard negative was or wasn't enough of the gospel songs he was known for. You know, for they was famous for and that sort of thing I want to hear your feedback. Your thoughts and what is the biblical lesson. What is it that you take away from that movie from the life of Elvis say you didn't go but you know about his life as a film so to go to movies like didn't want to see a movie like Titanic.

You know how to get ahead you want to go through it.

But why is this movie important.

Why is this movie important. And if you thought it was horrible tell me that if you thought it was great. There's no wrong answer.

I'm Stu Epperson and for my buddy Steve Noble. The number here is toll free to call in and weigh your thoughts and opinions. 866-34-TRUTH 866-34-TRUTH 87884 Heather Selby was that he was a believer, but he was truly Christian. Dad spoke of the first segment about how Elvis went to church and was very active singing gospel music is, what got him going so well here it was Elvis Presley a believer. What is significant important about the movie. Is it one big waste of time to bring up something from way back when you know 40 some years ago love to hear from you. 866-34-TRUTH 87884 866-34-TRUTH truth in the spring a back on the year Stu Epperson senior so pop she saw this movie and you grew up a contemporary of Elvis Presley's during the broadcast business urine industry like your son is now, you're still in your stove you are still very much involved in and radio, but radios really what Dave birth to this legend. I guess right people. Everyone listens to the radio listen radio that a lot of it was to listen to the radio now, thankfully, but what what was kinda going on that just lead to suddenly justice like you mention erupting earthquake of Elvis, partially coming on the scene and being just an absolute craze for everybody. Everyone was literally women throwing their undergarments. Adam on the stage. Well, nothing like the never happened before. When this happened in the 50s and there was even people it will ban Elvis but radio stations that will ban elder placement is that it should be sent and Ed Sullivan invited Young to show it would only would only have the telecast showing above the waist up because he moved his leg while he was thinking and like no one is ever for it was described by many people. Commentators as they white person singing like a black person and much of his music, but actually is. It can go black writers songwriters. So on to deny the influence of the gospel of Elvis Presley's life is to ignore the fact he was a person who I believe that in retrospect who wanted to serve God was the past.

Akron, Ohio named Rex Barth. He was the pastor of the Cathedral of tomorrow a large church there and Elvis frequently called them talk about spiritual thing invited them to come to Las Vegas to meet let it and then close like somebody. As women are Gladys Elvis Presley's mother died. This was the event that Elvis and his father were not able or not ready where prepared for that and they asked Ranch, Berg, please the general and give them spiritual counseling which she did and it was it was just a little. She died. We all knew about it and Rex converts that I say publicly that they were not prepared.

They were not the clearness of family and as in the digital age.

The fact that but he was usually hopeful that Elvis Presley retain his faith in Jesus Christ and I believe he did. Along the way, as happened to many very talented people who claim to be Christians that who are Christians along the way.

There are people promoters and people exploiters who come into their lives that covered all of our lives and they offer something better and they offered for the betterment of bank data some lofty ideal and elders was no exception with the God-given talent he had that if you think he has God-given talent just pull up the Internet go up by Elvis Presley.

Gail Mattrick him gospel song at the gospel song and then of course you got the rock 'n' roll song and they were never they were never at the level of morality that we hear on the radio that they were never as suggested eventually Now what, but he was kind of the gateway that broke the ice, because that that caused that because of the I think his handlers and you get you get caught up and that's what Christians do they get caught up. It's like it's like to when Satan said be God spared right that God really say that there's nothing unattractive about the Apple leave offered did the same offer to Eve. This is a serpent.

There's nothing unattractive about the pink Cadillac that did this Col. told Elvis he may be able to buy his mom and we knew a pink Cadillac that was part of the allure deception when you fall in with the wrong people and is up being bondage destroys you.

What about the movie Elvis Presley Air Force talk about the hottest movies in the land right now.

Will Biggs to Grover the same era year.

Apart from Elvis Presley's online they were taught about the King of rock 'n' roll but has to do the King of Kings and we take away from that movie your questions and thoughts today 6634 truth coming up right you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com the golden voice of the king Elvis Presley talking about him his life.

What we learn from a life like Elvis is. What about the challenges he had.

What about the gift CD had what he used with his talents.

What about the company he kept all these things have come full center with a lot of people who grew up with Elvis listing to Elvis even going to his concerts. Mr. Everson big Stu my dad Stu Epperson senior fee played Elvis records on the radio and he did know this young whippersnapper snapper from Memphis was a black leather ~vinyl showed up.

He put it on the year and it was a hit in the phones ring also play more that more heartbreak Hotel play more around doggy Elvis Presley who bought his first guitar at 11 years old.

One arrival, but his mama who was a staple of his family would talk a little bit about her last segment convinced him to get a Qatar instead and 47 9047 liberator shopper Elvis at age 12, a chance to sing live on the air, but he was too shy to go at age 18 he paid four dollars. The biggest first record a gift for his mama. The audition with a group called the song follows a gospel quartet in 1954. They said no but they do regret that this day if they're still around that he was labeled Elvis the pelvis.

When he got on after going on Milton Burrell's TV show and 56 and I tell you is gyrating hips. The outraged cause all kinds outrage.

All of the US. That's when he got that nickname Elvis, the pelvis Elvis Presley, the king of rock 'n' roll, a movie is out. It's like the top movie the land right now. Why so popular it's is it love them, hate them. Like it or lose him or leave him or what what you think Stu Epperson and for Steve Noble if you want to phone in and give us your thoughts and if you can give me a Bible verse that embodies this movie or a spiritual principle is my dads doing such a good job of with us. He's our special guest this hour would love to hear from you. Love to hear your thoughts 866-34-TRUTH to see the movie what you think.

Why is this if you think it is an important movie to go to anti-Buick I is crazy. I hated it. I like it almost terrible. Others are like wow what Mr. Everson is in the fan category. He thought the movie was was was good. Now, dad. You know, one complaint and thanks for being with this is our it's fun to talk to a contemporary guy used to play Elvis's records and the radio station as a young man in radio from a family of radio folks but dad what what you think about the criticism that I'm getting from some folks that they don't show the gospel singing. Then I'll show some of the rich sacred songs that Elvis sang me to show a little bit of him going into that Pentecostal African-American church early on and I was kind of cool for people to see it important but there's just not a lot of him, sing, and that that genre which which you feel like it really made an impact on you will I like American became true not to stop it you want some municipalities tried to arrest them thought it was evil that hurt.

Nothing could stop it. It was the just unbelievable and with a short time then a short time where you do it and embracing it was the new era. They can and it was late because we both break and all of those people. They became a thing of the past like Sinatra and Martin.

And so it was no way that I think the guy I think the guy Artie wanted to help people example to the Denver Police Department.

He gave everybody Derek Cadillac was constantly doing good things doing good things for people give a lot to charity and will be the leader, Tom Parker, Col. Barker. I think I got that right, landlord begun to see out the policy of no bid would go. They could not. Which means that they bought the tickets.

Nobody else did. His manager, Bob Bill, it was announced that everything else was a full house for Elvis but foster his measure was that the Kenya promotions. It says is he actually before discovering Elvis reportedly painted Spiros yellow to sell them as canaries, so he was somewhere between a genius promoter and you know like a Barnum & Bailey figure and a con man and really not in the course of the courts in the court decision speaks for itself as to how that ended up of a laughter.

Elvis pastor. It was he was completely removed from the estate and it was not it was not a very flattering role or character.

You don't even based on the movie played by Tom Hanks and Fort Fordyce's, thanks for for player. All of this guy who seen a villa, but he also made Elvis big but. But that speaks to to the kind of company you keep a dad.

How many people have you seen all these years.

They there is huge rising star but they fell in with the wrong manager. They took advice from the wrong people. They had a Col. Parker in their life that took him down fast, and I will hear from from you if you a list of hers although here's what your thoughts on Elvis. What lessons can be learned when we to pass on the next generation who don't even know this guy is phony and if you like to live call in 866-34-TRUTH 866-348-7884. My dad Stu Epperson senior who's been a radio all his life. Practically I've been by Mayor that you all my life and most of this crazy show today you saw this guy come out of nowhere, pops in, you saw him suddenly he's a star, an international superstar they're still playing didn't. It's always a whole channel dedicated now to playing Elvis record songs and it's making money.

That light regular Albert 24 seven and they really make a lot of money on the euro range of music that the guy actually has a gift of play rock 'n' roll, country and western gospel urban gospel.

As we call it.

Also, almost classical never walk alone, how great thou art every kind of every genre of these things very well.

Everything. Never made a bad recording. We had a program we have of you. We have a in the movie. Interestingly enough, in the movie. At the very last thing the very last thing in the movie Elvis was great playing live in Las Vegas. Yet this kind of jumpsuit on and he was thinking unchained Melody song made famous by Al and so is he was thinking that he was looking at the camera and camera was very close up and I saw something in the movie that moved me more than anything is moving along time I saw a guy tried to smile trying to be pleasant but trying to trying to communicate and it occurred to me this is a pitiful guy looking could help pitiful guy looking for spiritual bodies searching for something saying please please help me and no one help them. Maybe some people advised him a little bit but your big girl, big like Elvis Presley was you as a as a Christian.

You'll find it very few people will tell you frankly your situation down to cater to you. They want to want to say pleasing words. I guess that's what we all human beings have a desire to do that.

Anybody but Elvis was looking for help but he died a little short while later died of a heart attack was the official notice, but by then he was on all kinds of what they call a person down drugs that were prescribed by different doctors. They can feel better after concert.

It was self-defense after foster back to the things you frankly no big stew more to get callers called aunt Janet's couple lines open after this Elvis Presley Miley was the leader. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com so that's how the movie ended and that's over talking about a day.shortly after that the life of Elvis Presley on this earth ended.

What is his legacy what pops in your mind what about Elvis Pressley were talk about all our long here Stu Epperson in for Steve Noble just toasting the day. By the way Elvis paid $100,000 for Graceland mansion in 1957 named by its previous owner after his daughter Grace. So that's what he named after Elvis made the least amount of money in his career when he earned 78 bucks a month during his brief two-year stint drafted in the U.S. Army and Internet time is unable to access his music generate income of $400,000, which is a lot of money back then went on to make a lot of money is a state probably still collects amount a lot of money. Recorded more than 600 songs talk about all our long as a big movie out but about Elvis Presley, the king of rock 'n' roll big stew.

My dad Stu Epperson senior is on the line with us. We have some callers that one away in as well. We got one line open it 866-34-TRUTH. A lot of folks are asking the question you think Elvis Presley was a Christian thorn asked that if they list a kind way.

But evincing a lot of gospel music and his big stew point out earlier in the showy a lot of influence in his life. For pastors like Rex on bargain others but spoke into his life and there was a profession of faith along the line somewhere. There, but what about how things ended, Janet, are you there, let's welcome Airways a jump on in here and I were talking about the King of rock 'n' roll. And what do we learn from his life from this movie in a redemptive way.

Well, I can't think exotic play. I like coffee okay now… Court I like young people actually turned okay while dad's eulogy really jersey Jan just said absolutely right. We got the court said Jordan Ayres back saw after every concert Las Vegas story goes three hours in the quartet would say gospel song peace in the Valley by the chapel or in the Apple are great thou art, and you know I ask of this movie the life of Presley Presley thought is given each of us unique talent and everything.

Everyone who has a unique talent talent on loan from God is very talent, God intends the right way, but invariably something comes along that reports talk to you a better way to tell and it happens to every Christian all the time and said what does it take what will state the forces of evil give you exchange for sinking Christ and going different way dancer is whatever you want. Everything you want, although all the wealth you can imagine he had anything he wanted gold embossed yet any kind of platform any kind of stage any kind of jet to go around, lived in a mansion. Of course, traveled women, you name it. He had it, but did that satisfy the deepest parts of the soul and what can we learn from that one. So often we settle for the allurements of this world and take out short-term you know forbidden fruit as opposed to what God is best for us as we talk with the life of Elvis Pressley, the big top off the box office is no surprise in a movie about Elvis Presley will be a huge box office hit list talk to and who's going to jump on it here and you're always Stu Epperson senior is to Junior trying to brow biblical light into this whole Elvis Presley legacy of what we learn what we tell our young people who are new or accepted by you in more than we were tempted upcoming. I don't think was Elvis Presley's Facebook page name.

Always a social media account what you do on twitter was his cell phone, what, when you texted him he had no cell phone he had none of that.

You look at how how he was so you so tempted and in and how he had at your lost so much ground you know spiritually. All of that stuff and yet we have so much today that can fool us away from God and what your thoughts Taylor crank that person that I do a lot of commercial California. That same communication that can Calle you well. God bless, articulate, 99.5 FM and that's fine but I agree with what you're saying about Elvis because he was a tortured dollars as I can in a Pilgrim's progress here with the woman in a cage but I don't believe he is and he was an occasion that I agree went when you see the movie love me tender, even just a simple kind of farmboy that, but if memory serves sometime that that that he was just he had such a tender spirit and I think he was duped by the enemy, but I'd also in my heart of hearts I just believe will see him in heaven.

Yeah well we wish her so who are we on the same attorney to do dare you condemn one where another but you know that there honestly wasn't a lot of fruit, but there's that dad you talk about that kind of emptiness that like you saw in his eyes. He knew there was something more.

He knew that he had gone astray by like like there's this this this this brokenness and like that song which is meant to be kind of a fun song where the one allies.

That song is caught in the trap. He literally was caught in the trap in what is a thief do John 1010 he comes to steal, kill and destroy. Dad what you think that crap dog try. I tried try to find is a call that actually call that is a call to different by different neighbor. That's one of the lines in it outside and I'll play it if I can find a new one of his famous songs for certain is all throughout the movie. Maybe a suspicious minds. That's it. Will see that I called up here. I'll get up at five in here. Go ahead and your even think that his between Pentecost can feel him. He finished mankind. I even five and you know and yet Jesus said to him today of the paradigm there is a Flickr and you can see that flicker and now this is done stuff in Hollywood. You know you can post pictures, TV commercials, television, and you know to the allure that the temptation you're surrounded by it and you my dad you've mentored a lot of young people and their just one piece of advice you think about Elvis cruising down the road and that old 50s little savvy that you know coop in one of his band members early on to say yeah try this Elvis.

This'll make you feel better and will write one pop a pill but one decision how many of us is as a young child as a young teenager can be waylaid into a life of addiction, you know, dad. Have you seen the getting to see that what you challenge the young people out there. Mr. Epperson to yeah stay close to their parent active in church. Don't let anything on your way from God.

I play whatever I'm talking about that's right and started the movie by the way talks about child boy caught those up on the cats in the cradle help okay 000 little confused later. Almost on time, but that's another thing that the movie portrays dad is be very passive and not you maybe could've protected them better and there's a lot there me. There's a whole lot of in this video I'm getting text from awesome musician friends, your who you know you help me get Kenneth on the right track on the actual history and that the movie doesn't get into a lot of that which upset some people, but as in the day and can you could big Stu can you agree what Jesus said, what does it profit a man if he gains all around loses his own soul. And that's what has to be caught in a trap in every single one of us. One mistake away from getting ensnared by the devil, they would turn to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And may we look to him and let's get around these young athletes have much of a young athlete earlier and listens and surround yourself with godly people. Psalm one like God's word run away from the counsel of the ungodly and lay up your treasure in heaven.

What really matters on antics for me, not God bless you guys ma'am take care dad figuring out what is your so, what's the matter this movie is just a brilliant picture of what we like idolatry since the Elvis movie you have people with human beings fans throw in their undergarments.

It Elvis Presley was on the stage. They idolized him you have is managers idolizing the money and other things that came with their the fame of the one they followed the Syrian supported so many people have the idolatry of Elvis himself felt like spot something we could find in all the people fawning over him and all the gold embossed limo suggests is everything you had inside rate just a great picture that verse. Jesus said it parking. Profit gains the whole world loses his own soul. So the conclusion of the matter. The preacher says Ecclesiastes is your God look to him. Psalm 34 eight taste and see that the Lord is good about Elvis at all kinds of gospel influenced early on in his life fixed and I talked about that show today. Rex Lombardo, the pastor spoken his life seem to have a profession of faith. Early on he recorded was the greatest gospel singers ever JD Sumner so many others show a lot of tragically, but we know he was exposed that, but sadly the voice is bad advice.

The counsel of the ungodly grounds of other voices out and then we have a man all by himself so lonely that he did die and heartbreak Hotel in his life.

42 years. Dad drug overdose. All kinds of addictions all kinds of problems. Here's a question what's right what your weirdo maybe like one. I like him him by making a difference under this will are you truly finding your satisfaction in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Are you truly living song 34.

Taste and see that the Lord is blessed is the main trust in all one decision away, ending up like so it was the overly had at favorite belly had got all those all the wealth to limit all the other things well not so fast about this. What if you only had Jesus healed enough solicitous and great gospel songs that Elvis sang amazing grace, how sweet the sound was just renowned for his gospel vocalist number one netting gospel or really vocalist of all times more records than anybody else. Elvis person wants to show for so this movie what you love and hate it you don't like the way you portrayed the guy you from watching and listening to well buddy 11 when Dixon said earlier movie because of the lessons we can learn we can pass on to our young people may not even know who Elvis was Joe that are coming up so just a great lesson. Thanks for being with us today on the program are more TruthNetwork.com in this podcast when it comes out the encourage B+ to ensure the good news of Jesus with someone else.
