The New Heaven and Earth

You may have heard of the little boy is about three or four who claim to have gone to heaven.

His father wrote the bestseller heaven is for real. A little boy's astounding story of his trip to heaven and back. According to little boys, a kind of heaven. The Holy Spirit is blue and that Jesus rides on the rainbow horse and thousands of thousands by the book and believe his account. Then there was a kind of a neurosurgeon who wrote the book the bestseller. In fact, proof of heaven.

I find it astonishing that many people accept as fact the stories they appear to have little interest in what the Bible says, but don't believe what they think of these authentic experiences master what your view of heaven in the Bible the word heaven is using three ways. How to line safe on that happy sure God himself has condescended to teach the way for this very end he came from heaven. He has written it down in a book or give me that book at any price give me that book.

I have it here is knowledge enough for me.

Let me be a man of one book here, then I am far from the busy ways of man. I sit down alone. Only God is here, in his presence. I opened and read his book, that I may find the way that you want to know about heaven.

And so the Lord Jesus is the only way to heaven. It's true we have many questions about heaven this morning were going to think of some of the questions that are answered in the passage Revelation 21 verses one through eight, we come now and I'm sure you'd relieved as I am that we come to the final two chapters of Revelation would be in it for the long time. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning or crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away and he was seated on the throne said hold on making all things new.

And he said right this time. For these words are trustworthy and true. And he said to me, it is done.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end to the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for marketers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second that think they meant. Please be seated.

There's disappointment that that life is not easy. We seem instinctively the very depths of her soul to understand that there's got to be something better than this. This world John is telling us that God's going to do exactly that in the future.

John receives a vision of what a new heaven and a new Old Testament prophets like Isaiah received a similar vision, Isaiah 65 verse 17 says God will create new heavens and the new art, how wonderful. The rights for the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens is this the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved at the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives and holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of the Lord, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn, but according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and then you are in which righteousness dwells. Revelation 21 and 22 John lists seven familiar things that will not be present in heaven and he expresses them in a negative way for them are mentioned here in verse four, no dad, no morning. No crying and no.

Think of it, no disease, no cancer, no divorce, no addictions, no crime of violence.

Paul says in first Corinthians 15 the dead shall be raised imperishable, and we shall all be changed, our bodies will never again experience disease or weakness or aging who said that says that getting old isn't for sissies. No aging in heaven. Perfect resurrected bodies. Yes, our present physical bodies will be resurrected. There will be a continuity from what we are now with what we shall be then, and we are change and will of all of eternity to explore the wonder of the new Jerusalem.

The new heavens and the new ours.

Sometimes people say to be John. What's on your bucket list. That is what you want to do or would you want to travel before you die.

People are big on this. I know I'm not one estimate was on my bucket list.

I think of it this way. I have all of eternity to fulfill all of my bucket list.

Someone says well I like to go.

Why don't why before I die.

Hawaii yes Hawaii is nice have been there. But if you think Hawaii is nice. Could you imagine the new heaven and new earth because Hawaii is perfect their sinful people in Hawaii. This prohibition I know why people get sick, you know why people die in Hawaii. People believe some of the worst heresies in this world in Hawaii so perfectly does not heaven. The inexhaustible Christ will be satisfied for all of eternity in here is this glorious invitation come to Christ and drink of his waters turn from your sin and your selfishness and embrace Christ who loves you, who died for you rose again the one who conquers verse seven this believer who trusts the promises of God. Notice what the promises I will be his God and he will be my son. Not only will God save your not only will he give you eternal life he adopts you into this eternal family.

He adopts us. Paul says, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ in Romans eight I will be his cohorts.

He will be my God is my father, the son of God. Part of this eternal family all through the grace of Jesus Christ and notices it says the one who conquers will have this heritage, this inheritance people sometimes spend a lot of time and energy wondering whether going to get when the father their mother their grandfather their grandmother their uncle or someone they know dies and wonder what is going to be my inheritance and sometimes are bitterly disappointed. We who follow Christ will never ever be disappointed for this inheritance. You see we have an eternal inheritance and it is reserved in heaven. Peter says we have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. I have an inheritance in heaven and is reserved for me. My places purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ. And I can be true of you if you don't Christ that we have this inheritance. God is our father.

This inheritance is unimpaired by time, it will never fade away. It will never be to file which reserved in heaven for us. And then this magnificent description of the new heaven and the US. John in verse eight gives this warning doesn't but I just read what a serious warning. It is in verse eight about peoples whose portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death. One commentator writes even on the threshold of unimaginable joy. John kind bid up pocketing glance over his shoulder into the abyss. In heaven there is no defilement of sin. Celestia claims Christ you can get into heaven to clear classes of people. Those who are trusting Christ for their sins forgiven who received eternal life, and those who reject Christ.

Those who trusts themselves, those who did not go trying to trusting Christ, whatever that excuse is there portion is the lake of fire.

Heaven is for believers only resolve that last week, didn't we. Verse 15 of chapter 20 of anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire, brother, sister, your following Christ, we rejoice this morning when future we have. We live with an eternal perspective.

This life is fleeting. Heaven is eternal. Richard Baxter writes there's nothing else that is worth setting our hearts on. I understand this life is difficult, but in the midst of trials and difficulties. Tears and suffering we lookup to Christ. The author and the perfecter of our faith to be like Abraham, who is looking forward to that city that has foundations was designer and builder is God.

In life we often say all good things come to an end, we try to hold onto some brilliant experience of an exciting vacation order a wonderful moment with a friend, but inevitably, even the best experiences of life come to an end, but not this one. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We write know you right now can receive eternal life life which will never end and when we've been there 10,000 years, bright shining as the sun will be no less days to sing his praise than when we first become what rejoicing that will be when we all get to have the pray and ask you if you've never done it to open your heart to Christ, to ask him to come and save you if you're not a follower of Christ, will you thank him for your future. Will you keep your eyes on Christ and may this future that we have met motivate us and inspired us to love Christ until before the father in regards pray for those who know you're drunk of this water of life were still unsaved as this it to your father.
