Welcome back, which I can show basketball podcast here on Wednesday, June 1 NBA finals time guys going as always by my boys, Adam showed when TJ Jefferson fell is what happened great to be back cracking me like my boys was the team were all here for little bit like I like the point God or anything were all visiting Joe podcasting is a visitor now this is fast, gather were having a great time where the NBA finals.

Now, as we record the woman with after all these months we finally got Brockman was more hyper when he called on the phone that one week than he's been in person. All the metrics of the analytics people said the Boston had one of the best chances to make the NBA finals and you can read those articles I was a fan and I was just like what they were with it with watching the same games that I was watching like for the better part of the season I get really no point did this Celtics team ever look like a final same. The talk of breaking up Brown and Tatum.

When we talked about on the show it was like getting louder by the week by the disappointment by the buzzer beating loss that is just like it was so frustrating for the most of the season and then I don't know man Jim Brown tweeted out the energies about the change and it seemed like it really did.

And now here we go.

They've gone through the next betting favorite the entire year to win the championship. They went to the defending champs in the second round and they went to a team that beat them in the bubble the Miami Heat to get to the finals and I think this is the best case scenario for the NBA finals. Etiquettes can be so entertaining. I think the league has to be through the roof. The numbers of any huge I expect big ratings mean to great story franchises all time great Boston going to the 18 championship in the last decade or so, the team it's really been kind of running the MBA Golden State Warriors can be great finals guys what you think first of all I have to say that I can't remember team that people had no expectation of making the finals making the finals.

This is the greatest run since I think the Nixon, 1999 when they made the finals as the EC area set is is is there anything there that your nice 99 lockout year and I can't remember another East Timor people were like there's no way this team make the finals. Also there in the finals so that only that, but this Celtics have such a hard journey to get to where they are having to face the box and the key in the next.

All three of those teams were for or finals contenders during the middle of the season so the fact that the Celtics went through all those team shows out of the team they are. The premier offense knowing Golden State a great matchup. You have the up-and-coming star and Jason Tatum against the reigning superstar and South Korea so East Coast versus West Coast California Massachusetts it's it's setting up to be awesome. I'm very excited at TJ. What you think.

Just a touch of something that Adam said earlier, but like in East team that you didn't see coming, and you said you to go back to the Knicks home to get to go back that far. Obviously, with the West split right off the bat in 1415. Golden State, like when they went to that first finals to start this run really knew that this was coming. I believe the year before they got beat by the Clippers in the playoffs and I again I should check this but I didn't think to say I went I went to one of those games where the Clippers beat them out like 40 yeah and so the next season you I know they started off hot day. That season, but I don't think anyone I can vividly recall as the confetti's falling in the wars winning Citgo and I did not see this coming numbing as the year progressed in you so him instead of curries like a little bit better than he was before. Right now, so season progressed after like you may have filled it especially wants to playoffs. It may 150 67 games that year, I think so yeah I think that that was just a team to just snuck up out of nowhere. But this Boston team yeah mean that the last rites were being read for them around the midseason point and for him to keep it together as I know, but Kruk was called you Chris and that's worksite never say that I brought in the word you know the story about a team meeting and internal team yeah early in the season, the right militarily so manages props to them prophesy me for hanging in there and I can imagine how bad the Boston the New England media was when this was going on and they weren't doing well before that team stick together to push through whatever challenges and obstacles in you know whatever chemistry problems they may been having to put the push to get to make it to this point is pretty impressive man really is because I am not as surprised by Golden State being there. I didn't take them to be there at the beginning but it's not shocking, but the Celtics things a little bit surprising for short. Think about it I think about the West. We just thought you know Phoenix look so great last year and they had to a lead in the finals on Milwaukee and then you kind of see how that progresses right like I remember the bulls getting beat up by the Pistons every year, but you kinda knew that that last year like a thinking 89 like think this the last time this is not a broke through and you know we thought Chris Pollock so good seeing Booker mature and DeAndre eight become a dominant big man and they had all the pieces. The good role players the defense of Bridges and Crowder experience a great coach Monty Williams.

Just thought, and this is going to be okay okay right next last year, Cristobal like I do. I just like I thought Phoenix is going to be that man what I'll admit I picked the next with… I thought as much talent they got two great players again. We talked about at nausea but we never thought the covert thing was going to, wrecked that team like you did. And then Katie gets hurt a little bit but I mean I thought the veteran with the tile, like most people, but we do the Lakers were to be not garbage but like they were going to do anything but I thought it would be Phoenix in New Jersey, Brooklyn, but as Celtics fan up so happy the pride, the way they fought through it.

The chemistry issues they kinda dump Dennis Schroeder and Josh. Richard said that was obvious early on it wasn't working to bring in a glue guy, Derek White defense in the just of maturity of Tatum Brown and Marcus smart, really.

You know he's really taking his game to another level become a true point guard is defensive player of the year. Albeit that was a little controversial picked by some people but good three-point shooter, not great, but he became a leader on this team and the role players can't talk enough about how horror for what he meant to this team raise his second go around guys like Grant Williams. The emergence of Robert Williams defensively I'm nothing if he doesn't get hurt. Maybe he's a defensive player of the year candidate might see him when one down the road and then I made to look at man just Brad Stevens stepping away from this team like a Brad Stevens coaching listing the probably not here. You know, maybe his messages run run out with those guys bring in a new voice of former player, a guy who learned under Greg Popovic exit to rad him just being able to take it to the next level with these guys being stirred not messing around like all the player meetings calling about the media.

It was what these guys needed to hear to break through the next level and they did it, you know, we don't often talk about coaching trees in the NBA, the way we do with the NFL, but you just said it right there plea for the Spurs learned under the Popovich tree in ADA when you talk Popovich and talking to guys who know other than Phil Jackson. It's like having a memorial day, feast, or whatever, cookout, grill, water, food, because they're leaving Monday morning and so our magical comes over to consider is tight with with with their family and he's from the bay to so he's also Golden State. He requested to come over so we can store up whereof the buses up the whole game is usually crystal so weird about his double digits. I kind of thing. I just think their position would've made it less of the worst collapse. You know of epic choked dad, though it would've bad this is Miami. Their fans are so annoying thing like us on the top after I lived on Sunday memorial day weekend party at Godbout this stuff, you know, you know, because we've had this conversation and I remember two podcasts ago. Likewise, Jimmy Butler, not mentioned in the top players in him get his name and he said well actually I think it 47 that one game, the players like you will be in then he kinda had two games were was just like, okay, maybe this is the reason why he's not listed amongst the greats, but game six in game seven. I don't know if he's a top 10 player in the NBA.

He's 1000% a top 15 player make Olympia this year. I don't think so. I don't think he was something he wasn't at all he was 13.

Obviously, I just think that all you know to. It's a big shot, but even in game seven. I just think Duncan Robinson could have provided more the Sparks letter.

Understand that I don't go get some souls are those that I trust him as a coach.

These were the best coaches ever. So, for whatever reason he didn't think Robinson was the guy, but I kind of wondered why that was a situation that was happening there title runs to you and I have to get you, lucky and got a get some breaks in Boston got really fortunate that Chris Middleton was injured and played all that seriously, no doubt, fortunate that you know they lost a gamer.

Butler missed the second half. Butler clearly wasn't the same. In game five in Boston and then you how hero goes out the tent sometimes got a get, lucky there but looking at this finals match up Golden State responses can be really funny Golden State seems like they're playing kind of back at their peak.

TJ you would set it years ago man. Everyone get theirs in the two years because want this to Stephen's back there can be really tough and it seems like where were at that point. Now you know what they are. It's like I remember watching the Spurs and this brings up a whole thing about you know I was looking at Amari Stoudemire today and he was talking about dynasties and what constitutes a dynasty in his opinion, what doesn't.

And that's something I think we can never talk about it at a later time, but you know watching like the Spurs and their dynasty for those five titles. It was like I watch the Spurs right guys and I beat I see them make plays in the waiting rain or offense in the wavelike backdoor cuts.

Chris passes hitting the open man the extra passions like this team is so smart like it's and it was hard to even even when the Spurs beat your team was hard to get mad because they were playing basketball at the highest level but intelligent basketball and they're making all the right plays all the right, you know cuts is everything they did seem to be just textbook and I feel that way about the warriors.

It's like everything they do seems to be the right place at the right past the extra pass that the kite you can see which one about dream on green but the guys intelligence on the basketball court cannot be argued and so it's like. In addition to the fact that you have two of the greatest shooters that God ever made, ever created. You also have a bunch of highly intelligent basketball players who have a high basketball IQ soup have been in the situation before who played impression you say Jordan Poole has, but he didn't Michigan you know he played high level games in college it's it's kind of really cool if you can take up way that this is your favorite team.

It is cool to watch basketball plated. Players like we talked about email as well and what he did with with that team with the rents cannot be understated because they were incredibly talented but it is tough to manage those egos in such a great way to see him on the sidelines in a calm people down or hyped them up and the guy just knows that he is doing one thing for championships is a players when multiple championships as a coach is one of the greatest basketball people to ever be in the NBA, so this coaching matchup is great probably two of the three or four best coaches in the NBA going head-to-head against each other.

So that's going to be interesting to see the strategy shifts in terms of game to game matchups in and changes from one into the other. As I was witnessing on the rear this morning things best player this series is attainable as a curry man, that's a tough one man is kinda tough. They haven't played them in a while. Where's the Celtics had an incredibly intense game on Sunday and so that's good because they've had enough rest. Three or four days to Thursday, but not too much rest maybe so I could definitely see that where the Celtics come out and still get one coming also get a look at my thinking ahead of myself here with this point usually talk about historical runs to an NBA championship.

So my question to you guys as we kicked the Celtics and we take the warriors if they could take one player from each one. Player from the team today beaten to make it to the finals is a deal that we can't leave the store. It has to be a role player who does Celtics take from the next. The box in the heat one player that could add to their team and who would the warriors take up the nuggets the grays and the maps so let's eliminate their star players, you know, so we won't use Luca joker Jan this KB half-court butlers will take the job.

Like you say like if you could pick up a whole that one of these teams has go.

This role player would fit this whole what would you think and that's really interesting. I think when I look at Brooklyn and it's a tossup for me it's either it's either Bruce Brown or Gordon Drago which to be honest Drago which I thought was so important for Brooklyn, just that veteran called the underrated countryman like I am.

Did he start for damages Konica coming off the bench just a guy who is been there through the grind been there through the wars and could role you offer that steady hand and if he needs to fill it up a little bit and give you 10 point in 10 minutes. You know that's a guy every time you made a shy, like Brockovich, I think for me I think I would go I would go Drago's to back up Marcus Mark know that I would do just because I feel like Boston's frontcourt is not necessarily the strength and we don't know about time lords in the thick German no believer, not bro, I would take Brooke Lopez. That's exactly what I was about to start for Boston. I think he would be a good fit for Brooklyn know I just take one player from the entire bit tired because items like which we are going to my surprise like that might take too much time I have been indefinitely. I think Brooke Lopez for it would be perfect on their it's just to help spell out for ever going to but we were.
