The MMQB’s Albert Breer tells Rich why the Seahawks want to keep WR D.K. Metcalf despite his holdout from Seattle’s mandatory minicamp, if the 49ers are ready to hand over the reins of Kyle Shanahan’s offense to Trey Lance instead of Jimmy Garoppolo, why the Rams paying Aaron Donald was a risky maneuver, and why the length of a possible suspension for Deshaun Watson could be determined by how transparent he’s been with the NFL about the allegations against him.

ESPN Senior Writer Kevin Van Valkenburg tells Rich why the controversial Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Tour is here to stay after paying hundreds of millions of dollars to the likes of Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, if there’s any panic inside the PGA Tour offices with the number of high-profile defections to the LIV Tour, and when/if the tour will be able to land a TV partner.

TJ wraps up the hour blaming yesterday’s guest for putting a hex on Mets 1B Pete Alonso who then when out and got hit on the hand by an errant pitch from the Padres Yu Darvish.

Today it appears Patrick Reed and Bryson to shamble of now join this tour is more name players are running the risk of no longer appearing on the PGA Tour and basically their same will take this money and plan. This this new tour and show up for the majors which will still allow us to show up and that's good be their new careers and I have no idea what this means for the world of golf right now and it's getting bigger and bigger and the names are getting huger and huger and the money is getting bigger and bigger in many people's minds the hypocrisy get larger and larger and sees joining us about 20 minutes time. My culture of the show evil on Paramount, possibly joining us in a matter of an hour plus as well. You would 844204 Rich number doll Chris Brockman and Michael to phone their spots and so is TJ Jefferson, who later on this hour wants to get something off his chest about our third hour gets from yesterday my culture. I don't know why you got something against very talented and sweet man like I got beef with check okay very good beef with checklists is like now you can write that down as hard on the latest CT name, but it's also the latest book by a job. It's it's coming soon. Thursday Thursday's 30th joining us on the Mercedes-Benz vans phone line is our friend from Sports Illustrated. He writes the end of every cell.

Awake, he dropped what happened you hang up.

He's gone, he's gone, he's going to is going to buy that new Mitch out his breaking some news is on is on. He was Adam was not in the background with talk, and he's gone. I called Kaiser, Susan Adam. Adam hung up accidentally click or maybe he's rusty hard and pull the plug on it. What man I don't come to work saying I want I wanted to go off on a start and I don't, you should. I don't otherwise expend the next 10 minutes on Jack del Rio and you know I don't know. I wish you would just do what we could spend the entire show. We couldn't spend the entire show. Talk about sports through the prism of what's going on in the real world and I know people tune into shows like this to maybe escape the real world and every now and then I can't bring it but you know it's just every day with the Sean Watson something that's worse. You know, and so I don't intend to do it but it just seems to get worse and worse and worse with what's going on with the Sean so that's why we ended that the third the first hour with that again. As I mentioned, my cultures joining us and at the top of the next hour. The story that we will be talking about is what were headed out. Without it we can get back on the phone line. The San Francisco 49ers of got depot Samuel and Camp DK Metcalf is not there. Arun Rogers is in fact Aaron Green Day is not going away for quite some time. So there's all that you sure you didn't get about my grinning like that's my thing that hit a button.

I admitted he's combat eyes, his comic character on your money old to put on the plane on my list now. So our prayers here on the recharge and try to another just thought like what what will happen.

You are ready to.

I have bad phone right now I okay cross our fingers that the next 10 minutes on the Mercedes-Benz rents phone line goes just fine with you. So let's get right down to his DK Metcalf holding out on the Seahawks.

As you can tell yeah I like it is sort of indicative of the way. Going across the league has gone across what if you notice rich a lot more players are grousing about their contract with learning that we used to see the reason why because it's very very difficult now to stage a holdout summer and so a lot of cases. If you wait till the end of July to late because the rule of the new CBA are so restrictive, so punitive you don't show up for the first day of training camp like you lose the year toward three agencies so if DK Metcalf held a one-day holdout training camp then you would not be a an unrestricted create.

So now for a lot of these guys know it's sort of the spring of the time to make your point and you don't a case of a player like you get back Given with Market here. You can certainly see where maybe you know making $100,000 investment was what it would be to miss all three gave of minicamp in making a statement about what you want what you're looking for a bite not a receiver to quietly get paid, 23, 24, $25 million a year and see where that might be worth it kind of doing the calculus, why wouldn't Seattle will see what I mean, I know it's easy for us to say pay the man depot Samuel up there in San Francisco.

These things take time. I understand, but I'm kinda mystified because what depot it's kind of straight up right where he he is such an important part of this team that can win the Super Bowl right now and that's why a lot of people think Trey Lance should be the quarterback because he's not courting quote ready for that. But at least you understand that this is a team it's not being retooled. We made they didn't just trade away their Super Bowl winning franchise quarterback of the last decade was a pillar of the franchise. DK could be an indication of where Seattle's going with their roster and their plans and long-term plans and things like that so what what what is what is the crux of all of them. I wanted to move them on said okay like we are really tearing the thing down to start over. They were traded.

By now it doesn't mean that they can't turn around if I could do that in a month or two. But you know if that was the plan from the start time to do it and when he got the traffic when all the Broccoli was available to extend them if other teams wanted to bring a minute expend them so you plan from the start had been like what love the thing up and start over. We can afford to pay receiver 24, $25 million a year. Well you know the time to do that with Mark John Schneider prolonging up. You and I that you know like it anyway.

What you been working away on numbered just a matter of the receiver market changing and no kind of know what the Fiats probably had budgeted for him.

And now those numbers and I think we can yell at different conditions.

The course how things are changing how threshold broken may see the quarterback with you know before this off-season. I think there were three quarterback making over $40 million year the numbers next six. The same sort of things happen. The receiver, and on multiple different levels to know you got the Adam Tyree kill you know and and not the top of the market and then you look at the next level. Christian Kurt got 18 you know so there's no excuse not to pay a player like this well over $20 billion a year. So I think part of it like sort of recalibrating where you're at, you know, recalibrating where the market is and I would assume DK people and Gallagher try to work to get done before the start training camp, but you only see where when you the numbers that that that the amount of money that could be that that's on the line here why some really deep DK Metcalf would say it's worth 100 hundred thousand dollars investment to make to make a statement here make my point. Let me know where I stand. So I don't have to do it when I could be really damaging to me in the summer here on the rich eyes and so so what is the scoop up and in San Francisco with depot and Lance and I keep saying over and over. Week one plates Lance's team Jimmy G. Was told don't even show your excuses from shuffling. I mean an end and it's not like his presence there would be now so acrimonious at the show, but there is a reason why they tell them not to show is because it's lances get right. It's Lance is getting you tell me otherwise I'll start back in office. Though it is my understanding like droplet people like it. If there are traits that are out there for them like the green light there for her hurt droplet people to negotiate financial know could obviously with 24 and half dollars due to him being issued so I mean everything diners of God, both behind the scene and publicly over the last three or four months is indicated. Yeah, like where moving on to bigger up owing to go to Jimmy in several different ways as well know. Now the question now comes the question whether or not land different class you know and I think it would be interesting to watch where this goes. I would say there was a fair amount of retooling that had happened mechanically with Nick. Lance is not the most natural throwing also diners had to work with him on bunch of different stuff and sort of rebuild again. As a result, there were some ups and downs last year. It wasn't like a straight Ascension you know like you came and had a great first mandated training camp then you get the little bit of any kind of swamp that he came back in bounced back after you had a really mediocre performance in his first start in week five and so there's been ups and downs. No question about it, but I think that there's there's optimism that they can build an offense form. The question is whether or not it might that that the coyotes can and often years and my sense is where they are right now and we only get to week one. I don't think it's going to be the full cost can offense.

I think it would be some hybrid often built to get Trey Lance going a little bit and that's fine. I think that sort of kind of where you developmentally when you use rock date and of course Kyle been down this road before. I mean it's sort of what he had Robert Griffin about a decade. Could you imagine this Lance… I was down to basically say that you respect. They were running a limited Shanahan offense of droplet to know him. He likes their throws and I'm sure Shanahan would love to have in his offense that Dick Rob Lowe could make droplets all many problems thrown over the middle in between ashes. My goodness gracious and so are you feeling Kyle would like to tell you that you know I Jimmy did a lot of great things but definitely a part of that part of the reason why you're part of the reason why a baby traded up and they you know what got Trey Lance. They wanted to raise the feeling at that position look like you know Kyle had quarterback that are that are pretty good not great before he's been beaten on the big gray quarterback you think about his own experience in. I know this really has affected their decision-making at that vision. You know in the Super Bowl at the office. According to the falcon Kyle coaches that the three network Perper for two and half quarters and Tom Brady made it not matter. Years later I coach the Niners during the Super Bowl and the Niners. I'll play out coach out everything that she for three nap quarters impacted my homes makes it not matter so no big piece of this was raising the ceiling at the position, and sometimes to raise the ceiling of the physician you maybe have to take on somebody who has a little ways to go with you sort of logic.

The thinking transfer Lance when they did our prayer here on the rich eyes and show spent a couple minutes you're on the defending world champs had less neon yesterday, so rare to see a contract given to a player doesn't have any years at all.

It just adds money right and Don's unicorn so that makes sense. Check that box had less on here and he mentioned multiple times that the phrase about the window that we have is what he said and no one asked him about the specifics on that he said Matthew Stafford is the key to the window. Anyway, when you have somebody like Matthew Stafford you can put a timeframe on a window but you have receipts that I'm sure Les didn't really want to mention on the air. What do you think that window is for the Rams based on the cat in all of what they built with very expensive players worth the money, though you yeah I mean like they're sort of culture built your member. There's a reason why like those cold Peyton Manning fell apart the way they did at the end when Manning got hurt.

All the guys and they were deeply invested in that the picture sort of all the wallet. Once you know what I mean, like so there built that fashion. And you know I think certainly the potential out there that a bunch of these guys get old ones and oh my God what a great year to. But I'm with lots on this is work that you know you party already authority and you probably have a chance to compute this court for another couple years, and Stafford. The main piece of that and and and you sign know for years that he had an injury issues so there's no question that to some degree your monitoring that maybe he's not a guy or the glare off Brady Ave., #1 piece. Think about that. I could hear Donald 31 cups getting older Jill ramp. Nothing to be hung forever. And so what I'm what I mean when I'm cold like when you're really reliant and overleveraged with a small group of players in your line and yourself your line and your ability to find talent, you'll kinda still rolls around them. The picture looks a lot different when Accor start agent decline and so, like I think it's not just Matthew if the number of different players.

There that there built that they really built the team around and one example is and what work you know, like that's already taken a big piece out of the puzzle so yeah, I do not exist.

No question about it, but I think everybody that building with Scalia that party. They were able to thrown February made it all worth it and anything to get from here as part of the plan goes is icing on the rich eyes and so let's jump into the what's going on right now has to be Shaken by the 24th lawsuit that led to his own. Watson's own attorney saying we gotta look into this as opposed to like never could happen in a million years with a behavior like that sort of thing Jenny parentheses story I mentioned earlier that the behavior that is is is laid out, there can be can be termed as predatory just northerly to put it when you read that sort of thing. He has every right to defend himself in this country and there's a court of public opinion key is losing in that court right now getting routed and he's got a shot work next week. What is happening. Albert right now so I think to give you one of the key and I don't have the answer this question okay how transparent is that Sean Watsonville with the Brown how transparent is that Sean Watsonville fell that I think an operative questionnaire. I get a really really important question and seeing the NFL come down harder on players in the past that were transparent with them and they've always felt like they have to do that in in in large part because they don't have subpoena power, right, so they have to sort of set the example that you don't cooperate with us is going to be worse on you. It helps them investigate future cases. So, no, like looking toward this and we all like what the accusation that goes without saying that I don't want to realize any of that.

But you are talking about this from a functional standpoint, what was in Jenny's report in the times yesterday and then the 24th lawsuit.

Like how transparent with the Sean Watson with the Brown with the NFL about what was coming that could affect where this goes.

I don't think were going to get word on a punishment like tomorrow. I know the NFL healing was maybe the best course of action was to wait until the period for pretrial discovery and that ends on June 30, so there feeling was important information. It's going to come out come out before we make a final decision and it doesn't really matter whether or not we make a decision before June 30 will materially affect anything anyway but I mean I don't know rich you think that maybe the leak feel happy that they have to do something. I think that there there.I dealing with the people in the Brown and the Lee. Up until now I've been there.

They were going to get a decision on discipline right or training camp, but you know what that that the public pressure that's on the league and the Browns now and then. You know, I think, however, transparent. Sean Watson was with the Browns and with the Lee could certainly affect the timeline and how this goes over the next AC not available for questioning mean it's mandatory minicamp.

Every quarterback speaks we've got iron Rogers in size locker with a reply, only that's that's part and parcel.

When you are the starting quarterback, and certainly one of the most well-paid quarterbacks in the history of the league.

I mean honestly like and and you can keep saying you know you can respect the process. The Texans also in the story yeah pop times what you like… Now opens up a completely different avenue of questioning right now. Albert, I know you have the answers and I and I know that the league doesn't appear to have them either that they want more answers before acting, but is not with the commission is exempt list is therefore that we place them aside there still paid and were just can you know we cannot remove this player from the public forum and the ability to apply a craft while we figure out what's one right and rich. They view the measured example is that when you I believe in 2014 with Bryson Hardy right you and you know like there was a shift in the way they handle discipline. The last few years and that was really the result of Ezekiel allocated Jerry Jones basically convince other owners, but we don't want to be judged during executioner anymore. We should let the legal process sort of leader I can and so know as a result of that, like the league's stance on this is that while so long as there are criminal charges. We are putting him on the exempt list and I would say this to I think the Texan really sort of bail the leak out last year that sense right like because the Texans just said okay were not on the field and Sean Watson was okay with going unpaid leave, are in effect what they we and so you're both watching the Texan sort of bail believe now is also the time we didn't know the details of what was going on. We just because Watson insisted he would never play for them again. Why would they have that player out there on the field and run the risk of getting hurt. Yeah, that was the be the backdrop of what we thought at the time was all that rigid doorstep training camp. Your member like you that question the legal in the narrative coming out of 345 Park was pretty consistently unless there criminal charges. We won't do that and then the commission actually came out quite upset that in March and so I what I know about the commissioners exempt list is Roger as great describe a high level of discretion's right like so like the narrative about the criminal charges that's not really required, like he can put Sean Watson on the on the commissioners exempt list. I would like if you don't feel ready to suspend them like I sort of feel like this is what the commissioners exempt list. Therefore, at least in the form that they started to use it really going back that you know September, when the Ray Wrightson and Greg Hardy and Adrian Peterson Happened all at one you know to take a guy take a guy off the field when a reflect poorly on the leak was going on and so I mean yeah III think next week the be interesting whether or not the grounds put put Sean Watson out there is going to be interesting yelling front of the media and like it at this point, you know like after you know not making them available for the entire off-season and sort of making cabinets to finance the answer all the questions for everybody on this. I was very fair to question the browser they don't put Sean Watson out there and I don't remember what the P FWA rules are about that. I don't think they have to make them available but you know I think it's sort of the optics are really horrible.

If they're hiding the Sean Watson even if all they can do is put them out there you just have to answer every question I can't answer that because the legal situation going on the optics of not putting them out there and having him yell face the music are are not good. It Was Sort of Just about Growing the Game of Golf and in Some Way That You Wish They Could Just Say like You Know What A Lot Of Money and I Think It Because I Want to Make A Lot Of Money and Will Work A Lot I Don't Really Care about PGA Tour Nonprofit.

I Don't Care What That Means for the Future. Though the Day I Want to Make A Lot Of Money and No Kind of Funny That There Your Guys Talk about yet.

The Reason That I'm Coming the Story Because It Had a Shotgun Start Not Know Because I'm Getting $100 Million. I Really like the Idea of a Shock That Everyone Has a Fair Draw on the Kind of Chuckled, Sitting There Because the Mom Kind of Great Faith.

Some of Them Are Better at Telling Others and You Know When You Have Been Better at Selling Products Than Phil Mickelson's so What Is Happening in the Front Offices of the PGA Tour Right Now. Kevin I Think I Mean I Think There's a Little Bit of a Panic. Probably Going on.

There's Certainly Some No Worry That They're Going to Lose More People to Get Rich like Peter Benefited a Long Long Time from Being Set up As a Nonprofit and Essentially Allow Them to Pay like a Duck Out Of $209 and All of the Story about the Tenures of Probably Work out to Be like Now That Setting up of the Nonprofit Means That They Cannot like Give Money Directly to the Players Just for Certain Showing up and It Is Sort of like Come Home to Roost and Answering Them a Little Bit Because A Lot Of Athletes and Everything Will Work. They Want Guaranteed Money and Who Can Blame Them like Injury or Form and Click Appear Playfully One Year in Golf, You Get Paid A Lot Of Money and so You Simply Cannot Buy Legal Rules Hand over Money to People after Serving That Reason, like Oh This Is for the No Clear Performance Thing Is What Drives Fan Interest with so They Gave Phil $8 Million Last Year for Driving an Interest in Tiger $10 Million Burial Being One of the Most Google Recognize Black a Single Shot of All Still Pale in Comparison to the $200 Million That the Public on the Golf People Can Give Someone like Phil or Dr. Bryson. And so I Don't Know Exactly What the Answer Is Going to Be for the PGA Tour. They Can't, I Think Forever Rely on Third of the Loyalty or the Morality of People like Justin Thomas and Roy McElroy Both Come out Strongly against Joining Live Because That's Not Last Forever, like Money, Sort of Always Talking Every Professional Sport and Oil Money Dominate the World and Think That What Were Seeing Is That It Makes Sense That Will Eventually Come to Come to Escort People Kind of Aghast When It Came per Premier League Soccer and One Outcome for Golf Well Mean the Concept of the Tour Card Kevin Dustin Johnson Flat out Said I Am Resigning on out Still Said Why Would I Give It up. I Spent so Much Time in My Entire Career to Get What I Got. I'm Not Given It up Will Play in the Majors. And Then There's the Issue of Whether He Serving out a PGA Tour Suspension. He Demure on That Thing.

I'm Not Talking about Tour Issues and Then Send It Directly Responded to a Question about Whether He's Given up His Card or Not.

So What What What Is the Tour Potentially to Just Play This out Hope That There Are Some Young Stars That Everybody's Going to Want to See to Supplement the Guys Who They're Not Going to Allow Do, Will They Eventually Allow Them to Plan Some of These Events of Their past Winners Top 10 Wears on You like What What Wiggle Room like They Have Here You Think like Your Garden and He Wanted to Play in the Valspar Arnold Palmer Sumter.

I Think It Would Be Kind of Think It Still Hasn't Been Suspended on Some Level, and Why Would You Not Say like Oh You Know I Haven't Been to Have a Conversation like It's Pretty Clear That Setting up Trying to Set up a Rival Tour Giving Them Document Allow Your Lawyers to Draft Some of That Legal Language Is Kind of Grounds for Suspension, Even As a Contractor to Go to Work so I Think It Is a Very Good Chance That This Becomes a Legal Issue to Go to Court That We Have a Court Case That Could Go to Court in Ukraine.
