Rich reacts to the Steelers making Minkah Fitzpatrick the NFL’s highest paid safety ever and says that nobody talking about Pittsburgh this offseason is a good thing for Mike Tomlin’s team.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio tells Rich why he thinks embattled Browns QB Deshaun Watson never clears his name after the dozens of allegations against him, why putting him on paid leave would be the best course of action for the NFL until his lawsuits are settled, and explains how the Bryan Flores lawsuit cratered the deal that would have had Tom Brady going to the Dolphins as part-owner and Sean Payton becoming Miami’s head coach.

Rich and Brockman discuss why the Brady-Payton-Dolphins story hasn’t gotten as much national attention as it might deserve.

There lay there yes it is position of the rich doesn't show right in the middle of the week right in the middle of the month of June we were just like this thing right down the middle.

Welcome to this program.

We are thrilled to have you run NBC Sports on Peacock and NBC Sports Sirius XM channel 85 NBC Sports audio. We're thrilled to have you on this terrestrial radio network affiliate also were thrilled to have you on Odyssey and those who are listening on the podcast later on, hello to you that subscribe button rated five stars all the good stuff were all podcasts required on the cumulus podcast network. Good to see you where you are Christopher Brockman Howard Rich good to see you one.

I know you're very concerned yesterday about how they were doing that being over 500. They want just five games over. Now they are good for you. It's a high watermark I can. I'm very proud I'm going to give you a cookie. How are you family is going on pinstriped cookie for you over the Jefferson lit the candle how he was certain I'm tremendous Rich, how are you just great. Not as good as Mickey Fitzpatrick who just moments ago sign the richest contract in history. The National Football League for safety and cytosine $0.4 million a year, according to our front out of Shafter from the worldwide leader in sports $36 million guaranteed at signing.

That is a lot of cash paid that man his mind over matter in the back end of the defense, the Pittsburgh Steelers can go a Long Way in Pittsburgh. It's kind of funny. Let's not start the show with this on this program let's start the show with this based on a lot of the quick of all, I know that he pleased Lori will scramble the jets and get back please pickle all not just me go, not just me saying it will save you because Mike is a man of a certain age. This is going to validate you said about pickled person who actually one with Minco textures actually did not did not talk about the direction the story about Minco kind of remind you, it's kind crazy because the Steelers nation is deep. It's fast, it's why it's international.

I like telling a story you like someone's story, story, story, folks might not know the story back when we were a little podcast just a little media group, which is called NFL network, and I walked to Misty Bornstein's office in 2011. I'm like, I like to do a pocket somewhat calls me Rich and I will play with you you you podcast only about you guys had a shower curtain you all, but we we we credentialed football players for the rich eyes and podcast to to appear at the red carpet at the time to pick up my credential at Hollywood and Highland and the people would literally look at me and go. Why is the NFL getting to know why they write exactly.

Both were chosen podcast and Mike just hand me my first player first player we credentialed to ask questions of the stars of the stars in the red carpet of the Academy Awards in Los Angeles California was Hines Ward and you turned around Chris. As Hines was setting up and who was at the top row. The fans in the in the bleachers set up to to scream at Clooney and everyone else walking out of there so early and were just, walking up and down taking the scene and me and Hines 2012 and literally, there is half-dozen Steelers fans in the top row had to tell black and gold with terrible towels at the Oscars. Why I have no idea. They did not know we were to be there advertised no and they're just going nuts when they saw and Steelers fans were at work and which is the franchise whose team is being talked about the absolute least in the AFC nobody nobody now part of it is because Lamar Jackson hasn't signed a contract and the team is offering him the opportunity to do so and he saying another day nine figures going to want. Sounds like John Romm at the US open $400 million from the Lipitor will not appreciably change the light genre units to you, Don, John Romm and where talking about the bangles because they are the defending AFC North By the way. Kudos to you Joey Barro talking about common sense gun laws yesterday and were also talking about the Browns office because of who their quarterback is and how they have bestowed the contract of contracts of all time, contracts, history of contracts National Football League upon him still okay, but was the last team to be the only team to draft a first-round quarterback and nobody's talking about. Usually that's what absolutely is going to cause us to talk about your certainly when you have done that shows the quarterback in the first draft since 2004 Steelers went to a rookie quarterback in the first round and the football world trunks.

Did you see what happened with Russell Wilson to see what happened with Tyree killed, to see what happened with the Pontiac to see what happened with the Kansas City Chiefs losing Tyree killed to see what happened with the Colts getting Matt Ryan to see what happened with everybody in the AFC West. Hey, it's the Jacksonville Jaguars world that were paying attention to more than the Steelers for various reasons, my gosh, what's happening in the world and you notice minded Pittsburgh Steelers.

I think the lovefest absolutely love it line and wait on flying under the radar. Signing Mickey Fitzpatrick to the rich is still history. Safety celebrities like Ella, what about the shallots. What about the Buffalo Bills stay there very very team or retain attention to what about the Tennessee Titans making the trade on the draft. I honestly more teams we talked about the pitchforks. This is really weird now that you know I think Kenny pickets can start the season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. You know that you know I feel that way about it like I did around that it's okay I know I feel like he's going to easily get the gig.

I feel like you can get the gig and Tom and has them the Jews to basically say were starting a rookie will go through the ups will go through the Downs Morgan get through those bumps because the faster we do it the better it is or the Steelers just have the have the juice.

Suddenly when it comes to rookie quarterbacks. Remember Ben Rothberg didn't lose a regular-season game's first year is quarterback right but that's kind of what jarred me loose about the news that Mickey Fitzpatrick is is the richest safety and history of the of the world. So congratulations to him and MOC with the Pittsburgh Steelers look like when they open training camp. By the way ran into a bunch of folks from the Los Angeles Rams yesterday. Being at the NFL network for the annual symposium for the entire network act together and let's later on today as well here in Southern California and there like ring ceremonies in about three weeks and training camps.

About five uncle.

We talked to some people to maybe get credentialed.

The light cover the ring ceremony can we talk tomorrow if you get the there's a pond in a pool. Now we get the part that swag be funded just event yet right around the corner. Kudos. So you know, Howard, and also start to push the show today because my floors can be first upward Inigo Watson happy with him. What's let's do it. You are going to do this with me on Monday but John Sally was sitting here and we were doing yesterday puts you know a lot went down what happened. Let's do an overreaction Wednesday. Let's talk for Ash Wednesday with right here on the rich as you want some football let's talk little bit more football before Florida returns all by the Doris Burke is on this program today as well so will say hated DB calling in from Boston.

She's calling the NBA finals on ESPN radio and now Rick Riley will be here in studio when author get a new book called so help me golf and lots. Obviously, to talk about with him at the Lipitor. The PG eight tour on the eve of the U.S. Open in Boston, Massachusetts. Let's do it right and request that are all okay. I feel like where I feel like where where were the NFL and the pandemic were to do this it at and is given as an overreaction, Dana my everyday probably do overreaction go forward hey guys this is a story that only awesome Mike Florio are really talking about the rumors that Sean Payton was to get $100 million from the Dolphins. Yes, I did before all that got kinda blown up.

Well, rumors and reports I name my overreaction is this John Payton Tom Brady package deal for a team in 2023 on think a lot of people think the package deal is still could be Miami, which is nuts. That's kind of off the chart don't think the wanted.my Daniel but I think a nonfictional email to Craig happened in November. Jim Mora got one done in Seattle that Jim Moore's wanted done in Seattle because Pete Carroll became available. See later was in Arizona one.

Well, that's it. I think it's yeah but it was his first head coaching gig. Jim Mora was the former coach of the Atlanta Falcons when he took that dig in Seattle. I know it all in honor of Mike Florio joining us here shortly on the program I'll say that that is not an overreaction. I think Sean Payton is going to go back to coaching next year. I think when you're in the studio will be enough for him or is he calling names for Fox okay yeah I think that'll be enough for him.

I think you'll have the batteries recharged and according to Florio.

No other reports and he's gonna join issue shortly money. He was about to go straight from the saints to the Miami Dolphins so I don't know about Brady. I'm feeling like this is good to be his last year, $375 million waiting for him. Your he was on DP show earlier today here in Peacock Sirius XM channel 85 and he was talking about how he looks around. Sometimes he thinks he's a crazy man like he's these nuts for trying this season and Donna working on San Juan my coming back into the sum of 45-year-old man what's up with that doesn't get hit so he gets rid of the football. But I have a feeling that Brady this is his final year and he knows it to the back of his head. $375 million. We conform to the end of the rainbow for 10 years creditor ownership pay cut a pay cut. She's taking to play football what you want us to get over there Chris I he's not a team right now officially but is a wedding crasher Odell Beckham is can be the missing piece on another Super Bowl run for someone to say who will tell you, but for someone.

I'll tell you. I'll tell you these come back to the Rams will come back to the I think he's a ram by Thanksgiving with God wins. Not all the way healthy and Tom Robinson call. I don't know about that Mina Brady calls and says hey Odell you want to win one more time with us.

I think he likes it here. I think he likes it here.

Hell of a lot. I think you said you know Sean McVeigh's wedding and hanging out with these guys. He loves it here. And they love him. I think there are absolutely gonna make that happen.

I threw it in my bones. He will be back with the Los Angeles times here Thanksgiving day is that so will not overreaction your twofer to what's going on. Chris solicited African with the actual headline was, but something about how Matt Ryan is basically awesome lighting it up at the Colts slime essay.

Matt Ryan is he to go for 45,000, and when the division is. I don't think I think winning the division is entirely possible. But I think 45,000 total overreaction whose its owner to another's. Pittman right hitman and him and with the Hines and I do know they run out of Baylor all way too much her son out loud intoxicated quarterback now can throw the ball confidently to the right team can open it up just I think those numbers are too large for go to our Broncos guys Broncos that Melvin Gordis of this headline is not to give up the starting job lightly summoned essay wind.

Why does he have to Melvin Gordon and Javon Tae Williams both thousand yards. All my gosh is Mike Shanahan coaching the team but again as I was having Mike Anderson to come out of retirement for lame scary as it were doing on your I think, by the way, I would, but I would take Javon to Williams for fantasy football right now. Out of all the players that are there that I think you can have a the biggest season offensively. I think he's going to be.

He's I want to try to choose one choose like Jerry Judy or any of the receivers are Javon to Williams. I choose that conduit. That's who I would choose. I think the run game is going to be the on heralded on underrated portion of the Russell Wilson offense Russ not adopting quarterback then fantasy.

I again I'm I'm I'm I'm on the I need to see it to believe it. Training for the Denver Broncos, they check out what else you got over there.

Chris will talk a lot about Omar Jackson note no deal yet for him to say he's going to play the whole year without any contract.

I agree with you there to.

I agree we need to. That would be just exactly the way this thing plays out – I've added franchise tagged at the end of I I don't I don't like. I think yeah because I don't think it's going to get done so damn quick.

After the season. This franchise takes up to hit you if they hit somebody with you have to slap it on somebody or place it before the newly gear begins, which is right after the year that something as Florio coming up next. But I don't see anything happen. I could see him absolutely playing the entire season without a new deal. It it it seems part for this entire weird course. There is no frame of reference in the history of recent history the NFL certainly in the year of the NFL with the new collective bargaining. Remember, people were paid $100 million a year for play quarterback 3030 where where somebody is making in the mid-20s is a bargain. I don't have any frame of reference on one more summer on time for flight one more time. Thank you. Hatching out on looking at the numbers last I guess it's not all that overreaction Centauri kill said that is a more accurate passer and Patrick behind think he's talking up his quarterback who's getting hit from different angles. That's the way I have to guess as to say that too is going to finish this year with a higher completion percentage. Patrick moms. We actually did it last year. Now that I'm looking it up to a 67.8 and 2021 in the homes was 66.3 about how many more attempts to did the homes have been to the homes at 658 attempt into his got half of the house. He was had remote homes and twice as many attempts. You know what every single time you answer this I go and I and I I take the homes over to get accused of being off the to an entrée.

I think the world of two and I will hope he does well, but we forgot to start comparing them to my homes. I think he loses 10 times out of 10 I will pass the homes is 98.5 to 90 okay so I'll take my homes having a better accuracy rating than to do it, I'll say that I'm sorry this is overreaction Monday overreaction on what's more likely is that it was an overreaction on this roulette overreaction. Okay there you go. That's the that would've been overreaction Monday, but we did a urine when slipping Tuesday. As you know it will get to talk NBA finals later with Doris Burke to talk about the live tour in the US open and how everything's going down the PGA Tour.

The Rick Riley and stealing our number three. We've also got our our old friend Kyle Pitts who was ill the last time he was booked and could not make his appearance. Where were told he's doing better and he will be on the show in our number three in their 084-4204 Rich number.let's take a break and when we come back I thought this was quite a dichotomy as yesterday that DeShawn Watson appeared and took questions for the first time since his introductory press conference on March 25 and attempted to turn the pages were moving forward here in or talking football here. Best we can.

If you have any questions.

Talk to my lawyers. I never did anything wrong.

I still stand by that and I was honestly the gist of what yesterday was with a whole bunch of word salad dressing around it so that was one aspect of it.

The other aspect of the day was Charles Robinson of Yahoo acquiring a 230, page document that was the interview conducted by the lawyer of DeShawn Watson in any proceeding for the civil lawsuit of a Houston Police Department Detective that looked into whether there were criminal charges worthy of DeShawn Watson and that's an eye-opener. Another eye-opener 230 page document. So when we come back we'll talk to our friend Mike Florio about all of this demanded kicks things off on Peacock every day. Don't go anywhere will talk to him about Lamar and Baker and so many other NFL items coming up next back here in the rich eyes enjoyed for 4204 Rich number doll on her terrestrial radio outfit one big happy family with Peacock Sirius XM channel 85. The man kicks us off every day on NBC Sports on Peacock with PFT live and his book playmakers still available where all books are acquired. The author and creator of Pro football talk Mike Florio back here on the program are you doing like you I am fine you are. As I texted you this morning when I when I asked if you are freeing your kindly free and willing to call and I said you know what you're the first person I thought of what a dichotomy on on Tuesday that DeShawn Watson appears for the first time since March 25. He's standing in front of the old Brown step and repeat is doing what all quarterbacks do it mandatory. Many cancer just make himself available for questioning this one. However, as we all know is completely different.

He did his best to if you will move on. Turn to page keep things moving forward.

And then on the same day Charles Robinson are calling from Yahoo acquires a 230 page deposition taken by the attorney for all of the civil lawsuit folks who are pursuing DeShawn Watson and there is so much in there and the 230 page deposition was an interview conducted by Busby of a member of the Houston police detective department that was looking into DeShawn Watson. I will now be quiet and ask you what you make of all this, I want to go back to yesterday about this time to show Watson meat reported you mentioned for 25 I don't think he was required to do it any better. Not required to answer substantive questions about the case, I would've been better for him if he simply would've said on the advice of my lawyers because there are cases pending. I have been told to not say anything about this, that's better than reciting the same old talking points, and we know that there talking points you can see, as he's delivering it. He is striving to remember exactly what he supposed to say I never saw anyone ever harassed anyone. I I never did anything that I was supposed to do and I'm innocent of all the claims and asked him about settling the case. I want to just clear my name, I want to focus on clear my name will that's the case he should embrace possibility of a paid leave so he can focus on eating these cases tried in winning them one after another after another after another repeat that determined that he is innocent of all of the civil charges so I just don't know what was gained and it's felt like it and really that first domino with the HBO real sports feature that has begun this three weeks and and one day of one bad development after another. Some people who previously had suitor now suing and more could come out of the woodwork that with the Tony Busby statement from yesterday. Many have sued many others, haven't yet, yet about nine more months to wait and see into the statute of limitations run on the claims, assuming that once he was to the first time he decided no more the Instagram private massages I'm done. As of March 15, 20, 20 1C got to March 15, 2023 to sweat out the possibility of more cases and it sounds like there will be more II just think it's been a very bad 22 days per DeShawn Watson for the Browns and I don't see it getting any better, especially if more lawsuits being filed will result in more of these women deciding that they are to stand up and do what they think they need to do as well to get there specific form of justice.

So what what was in this 230 page deposition that again Charles Robinson of Yahoo acquired. It was the interview of a police detective in Houston that was what looking into 10 of the cases I guess and rich. She testified she believed all Watson committed multiple crime she didn't testify to the grand jury to took up nine of the complaint.

She did testify to the Brazoria County grand jury to took up the wine. It was an incident that didn't happen in Harris County. There was no indictment and that one either. We still don't know and we never will.We why there was no indictment because there's so much power the so much discretion and latitude the prosecutor has in trying to seek an indictment or not seek an indictment.

My big take away from the New York Times article the excellent item from Jenny rented last week was prosecuted didn't want to deal with the dream team led by Rusty Arden for two years.

Going to acquittal after acquittal after acquittal, because a reasonable doubt is everywhere in cases like this, so this detective now witness now called Taft by at least for discovery purposes in the civil case is believed the crimes were committed and there are all sorts of things that came up in different conceptual ideas. One of the big things that Rusty Harden and the rest the legal team representing Watson is pushing is this notion of a presumption of innocence that that the accused is entitled to in the investigative phase after dies is the entire concept of presumption benefit that applies once you're charged and facing trial that apply during the investigation. Every cop walking around the presumption benefit is charged with anything. Something walk-in to make an activation farmer, presuming you benefit. You better have something more then your story will sometimes all you have is your story to people in the room at DeShawn Watson's behest. No witnesses. No one else there. The person who believes something happen that should happen goes in and tell the police. This is what happened and if the people who are trained and experienced in spotting credibility, or lack thereof think the credible story you go forward and if the defendant having a cooperate what you do would you drop it, take it to a grand jury and see what the grand jury does so I don't I don't understand that argument I think it's disingenuous but I think this is just part of a broader effort by Rusty Harden to on behalf of DeShawn Watson find a silver bullet that ultimately prevents him not just from losing these cases, but from getting suspended by the NFL.

II just I can imagine at this point how to get suspended. I'm back in the camp where I think it is be put on paid leave until the case is around. I don't I don't simply not like. Obviously none of us do, and I don't know really what what to make of of all of this where let's put it this way.

I didn't see the current state of affairs playing out. I always thought maybe I'm just naïve that if Watson was going to play in the NFL after last year's debacle really is what was and that that it would all be handled and settled done and that would be done in a rearview mirror and we would all have to sit here and wonder what was that all about and is he somebody worthy of rooting for now he's playing he's been bestowed. The greatest contract in the history of player contracts, the NFL's ever get seen and this is an open sore that daily can be opened even wider.

Every single day right. I mean, there's this document is here. How many more depositions are yet to be taken or have been taken. Work is good to be put out there. How is this sustainable in any way shape or form for a player to be out there every day right and look I think the Browns went into this with a very simple plan to take some short-term PR when you have available for some period of time. Long-term, we have a franchise quarterback in the next 10 years. At some point this is going to be no different than it was for Ben Rothberg who got suspended six games reduced to four. He had to complaint against him. They went to the Super Bowl that year that he served a suspension within a year or two.

It was completely forgot like it never even happened.

By the time he retires you're an ass. If you mention it back. How deeply it faded into the rearview mirror will that's not happening it's getting worse not better because you want to clear his name. I think his name is ever getting cleared, even if he goes 26 for 26 or 30 for 30 or more, as the case may be, there's too much out there it's lingered too long and it's spreading and I think that's where the Browns miscalculated your your your right on the money on this.

There are too many of these and that's what I keep coming back to rich they want to accuse Tony Busby, who represents all of the plaintiffs of being basically the Pied Piper, the ringleader who's pulling together a bunch of meritless, if not frivolous claims and and holding it together for his own personal fame and notoriety and a big payday. Ultimately, 1/3 of every dollar changes can but here's the practical reality last October November timeframe and the Dolphins were in a trade for Watson. They offered each of these 22. Plaintiff, hundred thousand dollars. 18 of them said yeah I'll take or how about Watson said it's all or nothing will think about this. If this really is Tony Busby Charleston holding together 24 and counting frivolous lawsuit. How is there not any evidence being developed of these folks being indignant, impatient, I want my money. I thought all I had to do was sign this paper and I'm to get my money where's my money you don't have any of that. Nobody is stepping out of line. Nobody is talking out of school. That's the kind of evidence it would be very persuasive. The cut against the idea that we can't disregard the stories from 26 different people and until I see something like that in my mind. There are too many of these accusations. For there not to be fire at the bottom of all that's not such a job is explaining himself to Mike. I mean she's he's cool yesterday when asked about regrets that he regrets saying in the press conference in March 25 that there were, you know that that he didn't disrespect any of the women right and he basically said that his does have regrets. As far as the impact that it's had on the community and people outside of myself and then he went on eventually did talk about who that includes leases that includes males, females everyone across the world. What is right. I mean so, so, again, the reason why keep bringing this is because I've never seen anything like it. 20 years that I've covered this and where does it go wares and go right anymore. How how how how does he take the field in week one, without something happening right that the league is good and something's gonna happen between now in week week one of some sort. Would you agree okay the only question is it. It unpaid suspension. They go through the three-step process where the leak proposes the suspension and disciplinary officer makes a decision on whether to what extent be discipline and then the Commissioner has final say over an appeal if the outcome of that disciplinary officer proceeding in any discipline at all. The only way this the commissioners appeal jurisdiction is short-circuited finding by retired judge Sue L. Robinson is no discipline at all.

So that's one The other path is to put Paisley back on the table. I know in late March, the Commissioner said, I probably wouldn't put them on the Commissioner example is put on paid leave him to suspend them at this point when I was three months ago.

A lot happened since then and I have to league multiple times does what the Commissioner said at the press conference at the league meetings in Florida still stand and they they say no comment and I don't know how to interpret that, but he would be very easy to say, he said what he said and there's no reason for what he said did not still apply, but I think patently make the most. That's because it's what you do if you believe you suspended X number of games and then all of this other evidence comes out there's more lawsuit and it looks like you were to lean on them. Do you you do a preliminary suspension based on what we know now and you hold the door open for more later, but then it still continues to hover over the NFL. They don't want to double reason for paid leave, they don't want.

During the broadcast of the NFL games there to be conversation about this kind of stuff they want these guys who been involved in an incident to the resulting serious allegations to be out of sight and out of mind and out of the mouths of the people who are broadcasting the games so they paid leave makes the most sense, by far, especially since Rich, I believe this you put them on paid leave all of a sudden cases move toward settlement because he can understand your November play is to get the behind me so you can embark on the process of getting behind them all the spelling and be a lot more expensive than it would've been last October. Some dollars that's for sure Mike Florio here on the rich eyes and show one other item for you. I thought of you right away late last week of report out of South South for the South for the Sun Sentinel. Dave Hyde says that the Dolphins had a five year deal already to give to Sean Payton at 20 million bucks a year, Albert Greer, our friend from Sports Illustrated set actually was 100 over four and I thought you because you were talking you been banging the drum quite a bit about the Brady Sean Payton package deal to Miami.

Are we and I certainly since Brady was asked about it is press availability last week and about any contact with Miami and he didn't deny it.

He said you know there's talk to a lot of people.

So what you make of all of this right now. I was prodded by the reporting rate because I can tell you with 100% certainty. I'm not even going to leave any wiggle room in here based upon the people I talked to the past three months plus it was a done deal and how the sausage gets made in the NFL. It's all premade and then the process plays out right. The deals are in place. Everything is done and then the dominoes gonna fall in a very orchestrated way week of the Super Bowl. Tom Brady is announced as a minority owner. The dolphin thereafter. Sean Payton is acquired by the Dolphins to culminate there coaching search trade with the Saints first trumpet goes to the St. Sean Payton goes the dolphin at some point thereafter. After the Buccaneers have found the quarterback replace Tom Brady. Tom Brady decided not to partially on the Dolphins. You can apply for the dolphin that was all in place. It is all happening Brian for his filed lawsuit February 1, the same day. Tom Brady announced his retirement and the plug gets pulled but it was happening and the league have to be nervous about this story because it shows that multiple lanes and policies get disregarded all the time whether it's tampering with her to the Rooney rule.

Make your decisions and come up with your plan and then everything else is done for show to create the impression that there is compliance with these rules and I hate Rich. We speculated yesterday on why ESPN and NFL network didn't jump on this think it's very difficult for the legal network and I don't talk to a guy who would want the primary legal network having an Rappaport network saying hey by the way, the things in the Dolphins had a deal that violates follow six or seven different policies, and the only reason it didn't happen is because Brian Flores filed a lawsuit against the league it would be good to leave the fence about lawsuit if they went forward with it is probably not very good to lick the pathologic for me to be talking about. Well, I mean some sources lawsuit blew it up because because they couldn't hire another coach right away like what why would floors is lost like what is the connective tissue is to floors as lawsuit planning what we got the panic button on that we can't do that because part of lawsuit talked about tampering with a high-profile quarterback who was Brady obviously feel that right-hand man Stephen Ross is the connection back Tom Brady Bruce Beal looking to facilitate the meeting between Brady and Brian Florez when Stephen Ross wanted Florida to be with them and act in the lawsuit you got allegations of racial bias in the lawsuit. So were in a trade for a prominent white coach in Pam 20 25 million a year can't do that either. Everything just got rolled up into a ball at that point and thrown aside.

It was happening but for that lawsuit and next level cynicism is Brian Florez maybe found that lawsuit when he did, to keep it from happening because I never think of why I'm the lawsuit before the Texans make their higher before the Dolphins make their hire Detective I think would hire Josh McCown make your case stronger the dolphin to go forward with this Sean Payton trade and there's a paper trail that it was all done in advance in violation of the spirit of the renewal that makes a case stronger to make maybe gave the green light to go ahead and file the lawsuit just to keep Stephen Ross to get the guys wanted to let you go your book. I believe Sean Payton was going to be the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys as far back as 2019 deal.the wise Anthony Davis basketball player, the Star Anthony Davis involved in this where he is he playing basketball operations for the pelicans at the time Mickey limited been the GM of the saints for years.

The deal was done. All set up ahead of time you get to get the ducks in a row ahead of time and then Jerry Jones barred Jason Garrett then Jerry Jones engages in a search for a coach that complies with the letter and the spirit of the Rooney rule and then at the end of the day.

Well let's just pray for Sean Payton that without a play out. Just as there get ready to implement the plan. Anthony Davis says I want out of New Orleans and Mickey Loomis tell Sean pain at that point, I can't be the common thread between two of the New Orleans icons, leaving I can't be responsible for that. We just can't do it and that ended it in 2019. And that's why everybody watching the Cowboys now going for painting to be the hottest name on the coaching carousel next year did Arvin talk to Panthers.

I think the Cowboys will be in play and you know the way that the planets line up where the team that he the quarterback at a coach and maybe pretty in pink they happened. After all, somewhere else do it do it do I at least get consortium credits are bringing the story up on the rickshaws and show even though I am the face and voice of the lease is coming from gathering standpoint pushing that story forward working on that story. It potentially creates all sorts of problems with 345 you can do it you can do it gathering people can do it well will see will see how SSI got a red light on my hang up from you. I had a phone call yesterday from the main switchboard at 345 Park Ave. I missed the call.

I've never gotten that call before, I have no idea who was on the other and that caulking anybody else in the league office to want to find me.

You have like cell phones and email. Sure, I'm still very. 345 main switchboard was trying to track me down. Maybe that's why Roger asked me to check in such a lexical market is much lower in principle to get the break, but I've so that's what we do so we have a second after the break is coming up next right here on the rich. You said you had questions Chris Brockman about Mike Florio's appearance when he got on that.

Do you think that this Brady Dolphins Sean Payton thing is not a big time national story. It feels like the only people to really talking about at our office and the people of South Florida is because no one at ESPN has really ran with it.

Well, I think you know, I know Florio was saying no and NFL networks. Pat touched it either because of how touchy subject. It is for an owner team or what have you.

And you know obviously I'll always push back on that sentiment. I've never been ever since. Honestly we talk about everything you're on the show. I've never gotten a single call saying we might want to stop without a course. But darling I alignment part of the reason why people are as its Bradys involved its Brady was involved and so they weren't afraid to falsely report that he's retiring later falsely reported that he was the they actually reported it happen so I can actually say the word retirement.

He said he was stepping away from the game retirement ball as it turned out it was somebody did retire look, I mean part of it also is is the factor to very powerful players in this league and Brady and Peyton have moved on. They've done all they gone on to other different things, but only because of the brine for his lawsuit.

When I say this that this is a done deal. He was good to be the Dolphins quarterback and part owner in Sean pain was to be paid, probably more than Bill Belichick to be the head coach which is crazy I would've been wild man.

It would've been a would've been part and parcel of the whole hell going on month of March.

If Brady on retired and and said you know what the minute the minute the Buccaneers went to fill that role. He say you know what I want to play again. So the box would be more inclined to make a deal and strike a deal and a first-round pick as they would had to trade it for Sean Payton it's it's been a long Brady could wind up still in ownership of the Miami Dolphins anyone you think Fox would have a problem with him being an owner of a team and being in the booth. Of course not. Course of 75 right mean, I know still be happy to have Brady in the booth announcing. I think Brady could absolutely only thing that Brady can't do when he's the lead analyst for Fox, the NFL and foxes also played quarterback Patty Cantu but he can absolutely still be a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins on.

I don't think the foxes have a problem with that which you would you listen to Brady last call the games of the Miami Dolphins. You will easily put on mega maybe not. I think Brady becoming an owner seems incredibly likely. I think you can afford. Think you can actually afford.

So this is just kind of struck me as I ESPN really hasn't been covering this at all and I think that's why it's not also so I think very difficult to confirm it because nobody is probably talking about, you know.

Bottom line is the reason why things aren't reported completely out is because folks don't have the information nailed down the Florio sure does fly likes talking about, he's pinned it to the top Pro football talk Doris Burke, not our number two DB I got a question for you yet. I've noticed today.

You've come dressed in a shirt that I only see the letters A, S and okay – okay, I see a accident to go in any direction. Okay, what, what, what's with cash, what is that that's actually about the Sumer Nashville at the Johnny Cash Museum oh for good. So you just walk around the sure this is cash and we could hang into it like to wear Las Vegas – like it's good to have a good very good. What were you guessing.

Another asked another asset to open this up. I don't know if this is an is looking for something. As you know anything else that going on in any direction and I was very, very, you know, normally only ask questions every morning and I don't want to want very fearful that what asking questions you have to answer questions you newly and slightly exceeds it is still fun. I mean, I can still get the question how she knowing the answer is compelling and you've never heard the answer is why could not tell you guys about the price is right because I needed those reactions to be authentic right what she did know in enacting casts and pretend like he didn't know me to say this out the reason why I say those things as I only ask questions arty know the answer to clearly know what I'm asking Mike Florio questions.

I don't know the answer you want to know the answer to them but when I ask a question like city of Mariucci. Hey, that one time you called a timeout and again you're blowing somebody out. I already know the answer to the question he did it because he wanted to take a pic take a photograph with Steve Young and I got that story out. Stephen never heard that story and then he came on the show so sometimes I ask questions I already know the answer to on purpose because a lot of folks may not know the answer to it and I think it's very compelling. I understand it I do that a lot to see Rich what you do and sometimes I will ask something that already know the answer to this because I figure something out there might not want you guys to elaborate.

An example of the shotgun thing with golf member to step up yesterday. Christie would like, you know, the step up ceremonies coming to you what was not hard to figure it out. I don't think you had a stepup ceremony for you literally thought it involved in MLS indicating Tatum I had no idea why that I believe it was Magic Mike for the real story behind some of wrestling's biggest moments something to wrestle with Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson to all-time high of an opponent sponsor Ms. Natalie in a conversation where is Andre three, was that Andre was number one because not even going back before you know Holcombe was a baby face Holt and Andres were able to go in headline at the New Orleans Superdome at Shea Stadium in Japan wherever they went.
