QB Summit founder and co-host of ‘The Room’ Jordan Palmer tells Rich why Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is poise to make a huge leap this year, why there’s tons of pressure on Tua Tagovailoa this season, why the Chiefs offense won’t face much of a drop off after sending Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, why Ryan Tannehill and Mitchell Trubisky are two of the more intriguing quarterbacks to watch, and how Bills QB Josh Allen overcame his pre-draft question marks to become an NFL MVP frontrunner.

In his ‘Overreaction Segment’ Rich weighs in on Tom Brady’s return to the Buccaneers, Jon Gruden nixing Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski joining the Raiders back in 2020, if the AFC North will have 3 playoff teams this season, if Saints WR Chris Olave can challenge Randy Moss’ rookie TD receptions record, if Gabrie Davis will have a better season for the Bills than Stefon Diggs, and if Pete Carroll and the Seahawks will be selecting a QB #1 overall in next year’s NFL Draft.

Rich offers up a ‘my bad’ after his initial overreaction on Twitter to the low block that injured the knee of New York Giants rookie edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.

FOX Sports’ NFL Rules Expert Mike Pereira tells Rich why the controversial block on Thibodeaux was 100% legal, and explains why we’ll see more flags for ‘illegal contact’ between DBs and WRs this season.

It's on Roku app the Roku channel.com Amazon fire TV and Samsung smart TVs Roku device Amazon fire stick and Samsung TV just only the three largest connected TV devices in the Roku channel is on all of them Roku channels free. I just need to stress on joining us on this program out later on this hour Mike Pereira, the NFL rules analyst for Fox will explain to me why me freaking out over cave on Thibodeau having his knee buckled last night on the hit that has left him with an MCL injury that's can keep him out for three weeks. He's can explain to me why that is legal and why I was wrong to say that there should be a fine or suspension coming and so that will leave the thought question is why is that legal and what is the lead think about that. That's coming up in our number later on this hour. Also, overreaction Monday and at this very moment in our number three I will turn my right and see in the in studio guest chair, the creator of Breaking Bad and the TV show the just wrapped up one week ago tonight on AMC better call Saul the brilliant Vince Gilligan will be here in studio our three chop it up with us in any way 44204 Rich numbered all that we turn to Mercedes-Benz vents online and find one of my favorites makes me smarter every time I talk to them such a good thing that he and Kyle Allen of the Houston Texans have created a new show that's gonna be talking with the best quarterbacks of the biggest match up every single week.

It's called the room and at the room with Kyle and Jordan is a way that you can check things out on YouTube spot of pineapple music Jordan Palmer back here on the rich doesn't show how you and Jordan will ready so that it is okay so who do you think will wind up with the biggest leap from year one to year two or year to year three at the quarterback position Jordan Palmer all start very macro with you on that front. We got from you.

I think situation I would expect overlords to make leaps and bounds. Just the stability he had a nice school for your ability to Clemson for three years and then maybe the most. One of the most unstable environment I've seen precedents you know in a long time for him to go to that you were to go but up. So I remember what a scapular enemy interception due to iconic or scrap that will year and I would expect Trevor to look more like this year, and later that we've all expected to be and I think that that staff in and around them.

Adding a guy like Christian Kirk a couple of the pieces I accept the situation so unique. I created a word I don't think it's a word but I say these on the evaluable candy you can evaluate him based on what last year was look like.

Thanks to urban Meyer and so now you're two for him what you think Doug Peterson does that that he can bring the equation that can help us evaluate Trevor Lawrence and see what he can do anything like mine, but you have me you know that you been doing this a long time. Like all the stories we heard about were happening last year. Urban Meyer in the direction of always a small percentage of what actually the result of stuff that no one knows about. So to go to work every single day in the most important thing you have to do is unrelated to your own success in leading the funeral director here. Whatever with when like playing quarterback on the team is secondary because there's other fires to put out somehow you succeed in your evaluators. I totally agree with you, and I think this your recording… Evaluate them. He's got stability. They got off exit designed around what day that the pieces that they have on offense – that sounds really obvious like you doesn't do that they really did that last year and so Conoco coordinators in urban way and if so, I got I scrap it. I like you on evaluable evaluator will but I would expect a major progress in another valuation that I'm keen on you were hearing it from Tyree kill Mike McDaniel of the new coach in Miami when our friend Dan Levitz art show and mentioned how the ball that to her throws for a left-hander even though he's really right-handed doesn't tell so he called it the most accurate attachable ball I've ever seen. What you do you think this is just talking to mom or do you think that this is the proper evaluation of two it's on the bylaw going into a very crucial year for him in Miami. Jordan totally pointless statement to make me. I saw that I thought maybe a misquote is well aware head coach would just say that I mean bereavement player right, you have a guy talk right now but I don't care about your brother. This is the greatest, most catchable ball I've ever seen a man and I quantify that I just thought it was a weird statement and that's aside from two now for two. I think the main thing is his injuries hurt in high schools and colleges been hurt in the league little bit too so you play the high level you to take advantage of what they have in the huddle with them. There are some horses in the huddle, but you gotta stay healthy and and so it could be a combination of you with the best football. His career and you got a bill to stay healthy and a division that's a weird division right now you got Buffalo should run through that division dominate all knows what the heck is happening in New England right now and then die with the just, you know, I think I've got another guy I think should take a step this year that Wilson but he just missed the most important part of the office was the month leading up to the season so what effect that has on but yeah, go back to just a weird statement. I thought it would to a great army sprinted really well when given top my list suggests, and I'm just looking for Zach Wilson to take a physical stuff like a literal step first before we can start talking about the figurative next step for him. You know I and and so that crucial.

That you're talking about. He has misted and so Tyree's other spot in Kansas City so much conversation about the fact the Tyree's not there, and that the offense will take a step back, but were seeing all these kids like Justin Watson were seeing sky more. Also seeing MVS and juju years what your assessment of of the Chiefs offense going into this year.

Jordan will when they lost to recruit to reach the quarterback. So as I'm talking to work written all that right you late responding and reacting to what happened – you you I feel like there's two maybe three players in the NFL right now where they can literally score from anywhere on the right any type of throw all the sudden proof that you take it easy. Now there's a lot of guys leaders. What a great unexpected like it's Tyree kill Margie and would help you think it's all in command of the three guys were you go. At any given moment.

This guy could score and so I've got to stop a small number of rich don't know how you get rid of those guys right. How you say what will replace that with with what that was my initial reaction, but then you start to watch a look at this off-season. I thought more about what Patrick is Pat. I think it's just a significantly more talented version of what Ben Rothberg was in his prime work, then different body type different talent different size all that, but his ability to have guys on the outside run 14 your girls in any pump take something that they just take off in any direction they want an end to guys like to tell you home.

Guys like Hines Ward. You guys are great careers. There, but it was that second reaction was that it would actually run the route that they just take off another direction. And I feel like that's what you did in in Pittsburgh. I think that Patrick is now like the best guy in the league could do that with and so I actually my initial reaction was how you can replace Tyree and those names just throughout. I wouldn't be surprised if if it looks on paper like they didn't miss Tyree next year and production is made up elsewhere and it's good to be a combination of those guys but you don't juju as a guy where I go see him actually have a really big year because what I just says it's not how fast he is or how clean her out. He runs it. That second reaction playmaking on the field Essentially building his game off of it right now is definitely good at doing that and you could see this this weekend that she stood out as a team that handled the first half of their preseason game in DC like like it was the old school week three preseason like date date there run our offense. It looked like to me a little bit. Jordan didn't look great like you a great but I think they got out. You have confidence in his position on stuff but yet have confidence as an offense coordinator brings everybody up in the meeting room.

Click you see this working really well before the season starts regular confidence in Patrick Mahon's Cub Scout individual players, but you lost a big piece and Tyree consult the entire collective group and staff needs to go.

II feel really clearly how this goes.

So is not surprised that they got significant playing time in the preseason to just as the other room. Go ahead and take that step. In the article Jordan Palmer quarterback Summit founder and coach in the room cohosts with Kyle Allen and you can check it out on YouTube spot of pineapple music right here on the rich doesn't show who's the quarterback or offense were not talking about that you think we should be Jordan Palmer in a couple of them but I think there's one guy that maybe the longest off-season at the longest off-season which is right right now preseason a separate document like Willis, but I was writing. Hogan respond because the number one seed in the AFC last year. Henry was her quite a bit.

Came back and then to throw three pics when your defense of think they sacked Burroughs at 79 times guys that the times right he'll respond here you young guy, yet we are the comment that he made which you know I was going in proportion but about my job and help leak but I'm curious what happened in Tennessee still a good defense but still you know any healthy over the last anyone play when he comes running the football so that and it's a small market.

It is to the cracks a lot and so I'm really curious to see how Ryan Cano responds to my cassette.

I think maybe the longest off-season of the year is one of no doubt about it and I mean I think it's his gig running. Do you think any of the rookies on the shot to start this year. I just pick it does look like one is got the best shot at a week. One potential so far only guided got shot that I don't know the value in running with Kenny Lynn right now I'm getting exited the custom on their yes you guessed next week in excited to talk with him, but I don't know what you get out of it, like in Atlanta orchestrated starter to have an competition close at all.

Now it if Comiskey was your play. The worst all of his career and can easily doing right now. It makes more sense. But when you get a veteran and an irrefutable both playing you commiserate uniting in the got out the same. I just downsized of gold with the older guy could he can always make that switch on the road so I do think that Desmond, this is a chance to start this year in Atlanta with her to the struggle and there are injury and and I and I think the same thing with Kenny but I am excited to watch Comiskey but maybe that's an answer to what happens like that was too busy playing the system because just hearing Josh Allen talk about him last year we went got a year out of the spotlight out of Chicago. Got got to back up Josh what to play at that level you play that what should you response to Jordan, you're the rich as it shall, in a few minutes let's let's talk about Josh Allen because he's your odds-on favorites and bumpy and you been there since junkman and and I just wonder how this is his ascension change the way we evaluate kids, the college because I just remember the evaluation of him and now what he's done and where he is entering this season and in you use also seeing comparisons of stats with him and Daniel Jones. I saw that last night and the Giants preseason broadcast the quite similar for the first 38 start of his career and things of that nature. I'm just wondering if Josh Allen can start changing potentially the way that we evaluate quarterbacks are just such a unicorn what you think I do forever.

People said things like "accuracy you can't work harder and get better be a better pro than you were in college and and he's not the only one used on that become a better pro that he was called aware, but I've been hearing that a lot when coaches say that I say I bet you can't get more accurate as I get older, but you 30 changing it.

I spent some time this off-season going around buildings. The critical teams and speaking of sky department so that getting brought into consult talk with different departments about how they have actually evaluate position and I just think that we gotta go back further and so you look at a Josh Allen and Linda come from you. You look to the people who played a role, but he's a rare one that didn't grow up in an area where he had a bunch of elite level quarterback training like so many kids have right now and so be kind of got introduced to a lot of the stuff that other kids when they're younger get introduced to the much agreed with the really late but then you add in the talent and ability and that and that has physical traits and and so I just think that it to say somebody's not accurate I think is 54% in college and write it off.

I think that lazy when you do more research and if somebody had a lot of training at the rate exposure great experience there still 54% and I think you can write that person off, but what unchallenging people use dive deeper and go back earlier in the story and figure out why they believe what they believe and why they don't believe well I guess the question is how much better can get Jordan well I think you look at the guy to MVPs in that area and an atomic patent of these get done. It it was it was a full season right it was it was no back games. It was there was complete and and Josh's highs are as high as we've seen, you know what is lucky Missy last year but they stub their toes off to Pittsburgh early. I was in Tennessee for the Monday night game economist and what you really only miss one or two throws in late lose by three that affects the seating, you know, I'm so it's a complete year, they have to start week one way.

Today they finished last year of the great teams and the best I can do that.

That's my expectation for the officer. So what's the petition for the room you and Kyle Allen. He's down in Houston right in your meter zoom in and get a guest every week. What what's what's the plan you will yelps of the room and you think about like 30 minutes or quarterback meeting rooms correct meeting starts right in the air felt good in their like one of the quarterbacks talking to a 20 or 30 minutes in a little bit of football, and when that that part of football is really elite. You know they can advance conversations about talk about very interesting stuff we talk about sports other sports… He talked about music so we been talking about doing this and I got a lot of awesome guest lined up officially the biggest names in football or recognition lined up this year and so, and I it's it's more like a PTI meets BFS with Staples on you to cut things ever. It will be trips every single day, but we want the best quarterback in the biggest matchup that week so luckily Pickett preseason between us this week doesn't matter was a guest last week, UGG Daniels right before the backyard brawl Josh Allen to kick off the season and away we go on with you this year so we want to make most fascinating conversation football and in our general and excited to do it and get some basically the biggest names in quarterback lined up as he thought about that sounds great and I would check it out, that's for sure any part of Josh's it strikes me as he's got the ability to hear all the expectation and shoulder and to still be himself. I have zero concern that the expectation level is going to consume them.

I don't have a single ounce of concern about that at all. Jordan it's weird to have it you know you know my brother long time. I and people are certainly few people in his prime know that after Auguste Nasser picked us up if it's a little different in Buffalo anything lately. The people say and write things like our Savior. I mean, I mean really, really important that community in a way that I did not see in my time and I never saw player that important to a community and not whether was Ochocinco in Mattie Brenda Marshall in Chicago. I've never met forte in Chicago never seen a community responded to so it's not just the winning expectations. It's like what he means to that community and I just think I can be at home I won't, but Hanukkah quarterbacks and have been around their amazing players that I don't think and know what it is you just don't go to handle it. And I agree at all. I you know normal you think that going into the season. Certainly for franchise in a team in a Mafia that that is so wanting. I have no concerns about.

I can't wait to see them in a few Thursdays right here in Los Angeles. Let's do this more often.

I love to do a Jordan. You know that. So let's test it with Michael later. Take care yourself. That's Jordan Palmer at JW Palms on Twitter I found you should as well and check out again the room with him and Kyle Allen every single week YouTube spot of pineapple music at the room with Kyle and Jordan take a break overreaction Monday under phone calls right here on the rich doesn't show on the stretcher radio network coast-to-coast thanks to Westwood One RC act and YouTube.com/Rich Oz show 844204 rich if you don't know your numbers you don't know your business. We hope you are as well and be very honest with you. Hope many of you seen the ending of better call songs of their talk about a little bit with him 844204. Rich is the numbered here on the program. Let's take your phone calls. If you're out there on our YouTube stream were our terrestrial radio outfit Odyssey 844204 rich number to dial. Let's go to Jacob in Phoenix Arizona what's up Jacob hatred, how you doing okay will get right.

This is an open question for PJ credit Mike and you Rich made him think he got discussed and I was sitting with my friend we were thinking about a lot and let's start right how they're really good really counted.

But you know they didn't end up in the way they want electric and their team who can beat anybody like I think they could be the bill but they don't really like. Let's just say the Jaguar so we were thinking to myself who is the NFC version of that and we were talking about week that it was the Arizona Cardinals they can pretty much be anybody but they can also pay much lose anybody. So what you got to take on that Dallas Cowboys and serious about last year on Syria's glass and usually almost be the defending world champs in their house with a guy coming off a leg injury that was gruesome and was wondering how we can handle that and the money and dad was terrific and turned around and lost the Denver Broncos he won their division always lose to the Broncos. I think Jacob talk about a teammate when their division because they do dumb things like with the charters to the company dumb football sometimes you know chunk out of so what you say. The Cardinals is a good I see what I see what he saying that I Atlanta, maybe not anymore but they had been that way for long had been that way they think it was Super Bowl. I'm sorry want to chime in here, sir. Before I go along with what critical thing right when it without getting at, you know, there like the Cardinal darted really good and I to be fair, the Dallas Cowboys are well. I want to disrespect and him over there by what when I think about the Cardinals right I think to myself how like they always looked unbeatable sometime right in and they had things like age, agree not turning around. You detection to be the Green Bay Packers or get you something Don happened in the target do the exact same thing when they have the game.

Jacob called TJ one Senate know because I shut you down your upset, like I'm going into a shell right now, uncertain financial okay you know I'm challenging to Chris earlier, I thank agree with its Arizona. They seem like that team.

There's weeks of the Cardinals look like they could be anybody and in the lose a game you like how is this the same team that we watched to see Cliff Kingsbury, the Cardinals did not score a touchdown on offense with Cliff calling the plays and then he handed it off to Kyler and they think it's going to touch him to see that as by the way, the ravens won yet another route getting a stat of all time is it is but it's not nobody, man is Isaiah likely they have. What's more seriously right but how about that kid, if Mark Andrews and him together again. This is in the 30s. Thanks.

I will need like a dominant WR one we've all been saying by not getting way out there.

I'm just saying that I'd love to see Lamar had that before it's up sooner than later. Also Lamar no joking 20 is a 25 pounds tire on the broadcaster of the March gang.

She's huge talk last week about ISU. Did you notice the size of the Mars neck like homeboy is just please. Also, I was at 1/6 reason I like okay, let's get to it. It's a Monday coming off of a very busy football weekend. It's time for overreaction Monday had it. Please use Christopher did you see this back in its essential flow like my hand. I nothing to see here with the Brady at okay nothing well. I agree with that.

There's nothing to see here if it's personal and unable to box up the personal and just focus on the professional that he had went to the Bahamas, knows his family, and I don't want to get really into the main management rumors all over the map: also, I don't know there is nothing to see here in Colorado. I imagine that there is a teammate there that thinks that Thomas thinking too much of himself. There's never been a teammate that I think think that a Brady.

I can imagine I haven't heard all 20 years. I haven't heard even one disgruntled patriots say that, you know, so I will agree, nothing to see here. He is one of those types of athletes that can compartmentalize and will will do so.

I think, but one never knows and September 11 Tampa at Dallas will be the first indication of such, and I cannot wait for that. So I think that's an appropriate reaction. Nothing to see here this next. When I counted and just want to see what you say I also in line with talk about Brady made the right call.

Not taking now if he had done that back then right know Derek all right now note about the Adams right now know Josh McDaniels right now know Josh know there were Jones nomad all his guys up right now the team right now.

Or maybe some of them would've arrived on the spot because Brady would run about the same way that if the Raiders had conducted themselves the same way that the Buxton come on you as the box know what you think. Brady and Don they won the Super Bowl. They are like the Buxton look like I can't sit here and I can load it on off delivered I understand, but you can't look at Brady, and Ron can say yeah will pass. Honestly I I'm mystified by that completely mystified and I understand his love for Derek Carr name I I have nothing but appreciation of him.

I mean I'm saying the Raiders are winning the division this year after the division just turn into what the division is turned into Parke-Davis and has no knowledge of this, though I have that possible I like, I can imagine that Dana White had to contact somebody get me Ott's number right now and make it if it wasn't green it was grooming me out together and you and Mark Davis or Brady do what he did in the and the Marriott was part of the crew. That's it. Yeah, let's not do that and you see what's going on.

Maybe that's part of like get out right. Another so much crazier speculation around but I'll say that's overreaction a shot at Brady and Cronk in 2020. You take that shot 2020, last weekend ticket with Jackson looks absolutely out doing other bangles to be good. See North three playoff team.

I think you could say that I think three playoff teams.

Marilyn you get to in the West because they're there, beat up cults and two in the West because your using three playoff team to talk about the division winner in two and then one diminishes Internet right to get the division winner to get the bills. And whoever the Colts and the guys are right that I'm saying right know patriots maybe no Titans, no doubt, no dolphins, no, no, second, third and fourth place finisher Nancy was right. That's totally totally in the way that the unit that would normally operate in a way that you don't succumb absolutely. II think that's totally doable. Kenny Pickett starting which is something that I thought was entirely possible I just don't on your Jordan Palmer earlier say it's easier to start with the veteran go to the kid, that's no question about Roethlisberger now and then they turn Roethlisberger out of necessity because Tommy Maddox got hurt and I dismember around Seneca future Hall of Fame and the rest the offense of monthly nano this existing ready when now I will get through the kid, my gosh turned out all right. What else Chris TJ the rookie record for receiving touchdown as the guiding team passed on Randy Moss and I see dad still hurts saying that something to say is really good crystal have a really good challenge losses getting containments get James.

Can you help enough to get a name that is not an event that I got it Otto he's I can personally attest as to how good crystal obviously ruined many many on November with the exception of lesson is not about you and I just said it's an overreaction oppressive like his back. The next coming very hard and you might lead all rookies with an unknown guy.

Wilson's quarterback just had surgery six days ago and then what you drink London's hurt gun thorns now out 8 to 10 week. As you know, look to the second round for your wide receivers to Ajay Brown Depot Samuel DK Metcalf said it's an overreaction to move on a speaking to guys And I sent you see them play that Josh Allen made over the weekend, Gabriel Davis, David yet forever I got a just keeps the player loudly flips up near holy smoke game. Davis is going to be the bills number one resolve. I think that is absolutely spot on supposition, I will just say it's not analysis.

It's not a prediction I will say that Stefon Diggs is going to get so much attention and rightfully so, that this kid Gabriel Davis is going to have a monster season. I love talking to him the other day. I love hearing his story. As you know stories that I love narratives and stories about him not getting drafted in the first two nights the draft is clean up his party on that front had a draft night when the fourth round. The next day, but he said he was so embarrassed he went in the bathroom and cried here that you just know that guys just want to win. I'm getting even. It's Mike might like. I'm getting goosebumps right now because I love stories like that.

So yes, I say that is an appropriate reaction. I'll say that you know I'm not being at all critical of Stefon Diggs but I'll go with that. Is it one more gel now and while more than the Mike K (I am here anyway because the battery just went out to talk about the Seahawks will be drafting number one overall, back to this now back to this now look awful to this now. Yes I TJ Stroud or Bryce Young Seahawks color as you could say it's not an overreaction. I guess you can double down MIP Carol take him to be gone. Number one, you can't you know if you're identifying teams prior to the season as to how they look at the quarterback position and how runny noses about a lack of tackling which is the preseason game and pizza always better than you think. Scripts in every okay for the 12 by when we come back here. I overreacted to something on twitter the cave on Thibodeau hit a man, I get roasted. I don't know football I saw, moron Carrera will tell me why that's a legal hit when we come back back here on the rich eyes and show me talking about tort the rest of our audience on YouTube and Odyssey catching the interest rate on its up to speed. I did in fact misidentify the cave on Thibodeau hit as illegal thinking that should be fine and all that and blabbing me. Honestly I'm getting people saying you either know football you do not. It's amazing how many people on the comments no they should be coaching for pandas to point out, by the way the and I understand people might get upset with this, if I was a woman they would be maybe off the planet.

They couldn't talk football ever again. That's the sexism. A guy just like I just ignore the rulebook which I didn't but woman doesn't forget it will never be heard from again. In many people's mind, so let's just focus on that that anybody makes mistakes on clearly one. I just think this shouldn't be legal at all what how the hell is that legal. How the hell would you know general manager cultural Orono owner of the team want their star player to be so exposed. Now interestingly enough I was poking around I heard part of that might be on 202 should know it's coming. He ran straight at it. He's kinda bracing for Abhay block and inventor and veteran China… Common and get ready and position himself to spin often or hit the guy with your shoulder pad so why is this legal. I figure let's call my buddy my prayer loves pointing out when I'm in correct these on the Mercedes-Benz vans phone line the NFL Foxwoods analyst, former head of NFL refs Mike Burbach and Mike are doing great how are you I'm doing well, except for the fact that I had a knee-jerk reaction to a hit by Thaddeus Moss on tape on Thibodeau that looked dirty, but is legal. And so my question for you is Mike is why is that block that damn near took out one of the top rookies needs last night legal will I get there without rebirth. Why would it be illegal not illegal the block below the waist all time and that particular block with inside the Titan box so that makes it legal monster actually started in the Titan box. So even from that addition. It legal to block below, the way had he been coming from outside in motion what they call a cracked back block bill have been legal because it was Gandhi opposite side where Mark lined up all there's really nothing there's no category that you could with that in illegal however that being said, I talked delete this morning and something the committee competition committee has been looking and all you need is a bit of an uproar, a significant injury and you could look at saying okay working outward in a pan all block away them. Even if it happened in the in the call. Now the Titan box so I am management this will generate more question, and I like to talk about the last two years as a matter of fact, but once they got to that Titan box basically made block below the way legal in the Titan block illegal anywhere outside the Titan box. There was just no place to put that action by Mark yesterday to make it illegal well how about below the knee, or you hit someone in the ankle cassettes were seeking in the knee is what we always look at but that ankle is what kind of salt. It is well last night. I mean, again, I am not an expert. Clearly when it comes to offense of line play, blocking, and things of that nature, but it just strikes me that if you are blocking below the waist and you block right on the knee. So many players tell me over and over again.

They'd rather be. It may have been that in the knee. I keep you believe that what you know when all the went on protect area within the Committee that you work for the players to go wall and there's like an unwritten rule look players and that she don't want to go low, but that are beautifully saying and now that the quarterback a lot about I make have to do it back. Are you in a different are you vulnerable do you have been the case with no did you see that block coming in and I think he did anything to bury himself actually end up turning a bit sideways which may be been exposed at me a little bit more. You know you're getting to the in both college and all where each and every year you seem to restrict rule in terms of when it is legal to block below the way and will probably see it.

I mean look at. They'd been talking about a year, which I'm told they have been if they been talking about it for two years.

I'm not beat the pride we see something and maybe it's what you think maybe it okay I got up the knee area or below, then it would be illegal yet to be about the knee making that come.

Maybe that it but not in this case it what illegal okay so you mentioned you quarterback hits and things that nature moments ago is there one.

Once the rules and emphasis this year that the league is getting the calling or not calling so far. Well you know me. When I look at all the right write me there was one rule change and applied only in the boat and it was overtime, the bill that was the only actual change that the typical thing contacted the quarterback that that time that you looked up that the issue is still the thing illegal contacted probably one and that's going to meet that changes the game and it's not a rule change. The rule is directly, but the emphasis is not they want more call and and why they want that because the committee looked at number 20, 21 feet. And all of a sudden you say that point per game without or points again passing yards per game were down 20 or yards and so they look and they say why. Well, there's two ways to look at in my opinion you can go look at the numbers what they were in 2021, and recognize that 49.6 points per game was like all time high, or points above the norm in the passing yards were were up to. But you look at the numbers that they reflect the yearbook or am very down and so you make.

We did it. 2003 when I was there and all of a sudden the number of illegal contact called in the year went from 79,391 in 2000 and import it again in 2013, when the numbers were 59 and it went. I think it was about one of the following year. Last year there was only 39 call which was one of the lowest ever in terms of illegal contact since the rules came in, the more of those will frustrate the daylights out of people because it's one thing to have a 5 yard penalty when it burdens 17 but when that 5 yard penalty or illegal contact which has nothing to do with the severity of the contact even if it doesn't affect the receiver initiated by the defender Jerry at 5 yard automatic first down.

And so it becomes a huge that and that's the thing that stands like is to get some particularly frustrating is when it's from the play you don't see it on the screen and all of a sudden the flag comes in and it affects you know whether team defense gets off the field and not minutes away from the place you're saying like what weeks one through four. We should expect to see a ton more of those until there's you and cry when players get used to it and then we'll see less of it is not yet not warm right okay tackle the following is not one that there'd called a lot of ambition not call as much during the regular term while harming the committee is adamant about. They didn't like that member of illegal contact called the 2021 season so working with the a lot of and I know it. About 3017 5 yard make them but that theory being with the committee and the rule was that if it were third in 15 then you're going to be actively aggressive out of the corner, do you know plan bump and run are riding beyond 5 yard because you know that 5 yard penalty would make still 3012 and so let's listen. It's not meant to delete me know that right like one they like yard and I guess they liked illegal contact penalty to be more like her. Bless you for go travel safely. Will check down the line during the season you the best thing that's Mike Pereira Fox sports NFL rules expert here in the rich doesn't show homeboy get ready for the most frustrating penalty in football is the roughing the passer where the quarterback barely gets touched right helmet to helmet contact where it's really helmet to shoulder contact, but a close second or third is the illegal contact penalty that happens away from the play, nothing to do with your team, your team is playing tough defense. It started and as he said 17 quarterback looks to his right throws down the field. Incomplete, no flag, wait a minute, there's a flag on the pipe was a passing offense. None of it was illegal contact on the receiver at the top of your screen out of view from you sitting there at home watching and it was just shove 6 yards down the field quarterback never look there never had any intention of going there but it still fell and Mike just basically told us get ready for a lot of those, because the competition, you may want to call talk about Breaking Bad there are little Segway Vince Gilligan, the creator, American dad is coming up next in studio, but were still here, right here on our YouTube stream just to expound on this a little bit more.

Usually the emphasis penalties are called significantly more in the preseason. Haven't seen it though, that much in the preseason and I really and then they are just a rash of penalties weeks one through maybe four and then they go away because there will be an adjustment. Players will adjust to it there's always it will an adjustment.

And they need to listen to it and then there such a hue and cry from the fan base that Tom Brady tweet about it. That's all you need to read about it like did the holding penalties on that Thursday night year ago and that was on their deficits on the holding pen was interesting. That was a night where Sean Hockley was going crazy and he's the one who through the flag on Brady in after taking one in the chops for the is only one like conduct penalty of his career after his bleeding ear hauling Hockley and then by lightly great that they're wholly talking ear hauling Hockley is a great fantasy team name entry late late late in the season, ear hauling Hockley is a great fantasy team name or what a very unknown REM album you're only high off-camera come up with the group. See you, but it's good job and right said Fred L when it went down. It's too sexy for him to, but you know what I'm saying like it's common we like frontloading you all out there who consume this program with that information and it's really super annoying.

But having hopefully goes away. The second half of the year.

It's not usually second-half. Usually the second quarter of the season but I meant. I hate those penalties because you don't see them sitting at home don't see them sitting at home and it makes you think that what you're seeing isn't that usually usually there, away from the play whoever is in charge of putting that yellow flag logo up on the bottom right of your screen to know that it's been a flag on a place you don't see it from dancing is not there on your screen. And so it comes out of nowhere and that makes it worse. Even though you was called on time use learn about it late, which makes it crazy Vince Gilligan better call Saul conversation, next for the real story behind some of wrestling's biggest moments something to wrestle with Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson to all-time high the phone as much a man having a conversation wears on a mouse and Andre was number one because not even going back before you know Holcombe was a baby face Holt and Andres were able to go in headlines in New Orleans Superdome at Shea Stadium in Japan wherever they went.
