Enjoyed sure most of all, thank you for listening and choosing the truth. Podcast network. This is the Truth Network masculine journey after hours time the more transparent sit back and masculine welcome masking journey after hours during the middle of our what we called her pillar series that was supposed to remount. Maybe it's a pallet series. We called tools and then we called toolbox yeah now the paladins yeah exactly so clarifies are we talking like okay you have pillar these nice columns now are we talking like the pillars you get from like the home improvement store stack up and out.

I was no okay this clarification pallet we have Harold Ruth of Satan's mouth, but that it either does not. It sloughs any of the painter is no. We start talking and rub you think that going out turned it. Satan's pallet is retarded about, he uses all these things were calling pillars. These tools that he uses against us in conjunction with one another. It's like making a painting in our life and he dabbles in a little bit of pride in any throw some shame right behind it and he's gonna go through this other one in over here in unforgiveness.

You know the that to top it off it and so he's got all these things in the throes then constantly in our lifetime like a I know you would call it the just opaque dating yeah yeah of our last visit.

There is a truth but then there's a shade that's just close to it, but not quite the truth.

Yes, it has to suggest often that true blue is just a little off blue little greenish in their lives like just enough to get you going on the wrong that maybe green if we had in the that's one never get weary to put that one in trying to bring light to expose where we are. So this will just this week we are talking about and eat what we talk about this week.

Pride, pride, and neither ego or ego work hand-in-hand. It is kind of working at and I ego first sin, pride or ego or both love that says private both yeah and it hard to have one without the other. You can walk hand-in-hand. Yeah, I guess whenever you want people to worship you because you're so beautiful it's probably more ego.

You have no clue the addiction I come on the definition of merit is not the case.

So David looks good with your clip. Let's talk about that part. So it comes from back a future number three.

Hope everybody is seen that blockbuster film Margaret five travels back to the future in the Lala West and is basically trying to defend Dr. Brown's honor and ultimately through every series of this movie. He gets called some sort of yellow sums were cowered and lets pride stand in his way on it so will listen to the clip and then talk about it been something that happened with some pie plates are I tell you he you know instead of pointing announcing the guy had a gun. He threw the pipe and then I think I got a shows a little bit more where he thinks he's better than everybody else on that. I think I could visit with about 10 bullets no matter you church you just leave my friends alone. You nobody calls me yellow you forget Marshall's car get this tomorrow. Tomorrow Robin the pansy stage Monday Monday be fine. You get this way on Monday so right there on the street for the palace went high noon new too much for breakfast. 7 o'clock 8 o'clock and do my killing. After breakfast, you know, I think because of pride.

There's several instances where you will just be that one upper always has happened. A response to everything that Biff is throwing back. Adam and I think you know as is men going through our life. You know that that's that's where the enemy gets us on that you know we we potentially leave the door open our back door open and it ends up being where the enemy can attach onto that pride. Whatever it is that we see in our life and just really just take it home on us. Thank you.

It's the Kong Buford.

This is not Biff and the third one spiffed Buford Tannen case. Marty was Clint Eastwood. I'm pretty sure that's what he said his name was yeah they had to get his permission Clint Eastwood's permission to use it so they talk are not embarrassing me the other day get there is something in us is men, and then he knows that if he calls us the right name think it's my to cause the right name will respond right foot for Marty McFly. We will look back and say whatever; chicken or yellow heat. He rose up, but I would say that there's probably a buzz term that will activate pretty much most men. If you just get that button pushed usually tied to something from the past tied to pain from the past mindless unit. I was car salesman and 1/7 well is worst of Marty McFly really was a think somebody called me crook you're a crook oh baby, it was off. It was, you know that it was amazing. I can remember many a time I had this pencil describing pencil you know there's a people always signature pencil #this giant Pennsylvania in this couple. I can remember them. It crowned out one night about 1130 were trying to close this deal and this this man looks at me because you're nothing but a great and I like this truck is fixed to have your head up for work and try to help you do man. It was very embarrassing. I felt worse. Marty McFly on one occasion I had to do was call me a crook.

For me it's that it's my calls me a liar. You attacked my integrity that'll that'll push me over the edge pretty much quicker than almost anything you have.

I live my life. Absolutely I have, but II try not to, you know, and so II really try hard not to do that during tension about not doing that. So I think this might cause you something that you try hard not to be as you talk about Kirk are you doing everything you can young the fourth upfront with right in and they still do it that way, you well as a liar and a crook. Not my real form is not a confession arrogance that gets me some prices on American side. Try not abatement. And maybe I should give this to you guys to when I heard it I realized I was in the truth hurts so those are the ones that hurt us. Most ones recognize ourselves rather the keys, so I show me and quickly we never had a full got my pencil out sharply to Andy. Let's go didn't talk about your O'Hara viewpoint because keep talking about things you do some about about getting call Shorty you learn to live with.

Yeah truth is true, I got I got a bump for next week will be here shortly look great. Sager might have about to see if they will fit. I will be up opposite Harold you have those quite told me one time that he so tired at hear people say how's the weather up there. He started spitting on anyone's toes a bit about your quote for this clip is from. Remember the Titans.

The teams of come together. The black and white schools emergent and they were getting to go to camp and coaches go around meat never body meeting the new players and is really so a lot of pride that you can you can probably count out for five occurrences of pride, because this is football, you know, everybody take a serious and you get these guys are all Americans trying to tell the coach what to do and this is the result morning good morning good morning like this one to let you know what the offense is all six plates would be is like Novocain, just give it time. Always will see unless the patient down time Gary Burke to American Ugandans to want any of us to play for you. You reserve The open positions for having players at the offense have special teams with linear people in defense were already set mopping facing and was Jerry Jerry Jerry which would make you Dean Martin. Jerry tells jokes. Dave sings the song and get the girl you will wishful pass. I that's my mother's mom to good but mom and team.

If you play on this football team asked that day, and whose team is is this your team.

What is this your daddy's which Jackson offers except asked so there's a lot of humor in there but there's a lot of truth in it. In you just think about it. So what what would've been the fruit of that if they would just let that pride faster and you know that All-American told the coach what to do and nobody really humbled themselves and they continued on what would you have would you have had discord.

No football season. Successful books football season. No reconciliation of races. No one would've remembered the time exactly and forget the Titans and you basically described in the NBA know, if there is no when you see that you see that humility that has to take place and you see it all. That's it.

It's really just a continuation of humility. There's a lot of pride all throughout the movie, giving talk about sunshine, the guy that comes in the star quarterback and he's always have to be humble, but he ends up leading the team.

It's just all over that movie, but as Emily just thinking about my life. Okay I was like it was really good. My career was trying to work my way up the company ladder get some success you know make a name for myself. This, you know, running into people who you know that disagreed with me, upset me always wanted to be right my career to see hit a wall and knows, like the Bob's point earlier it's it's like I felt like I was really really leading me into taking the low see the table I was. I have a lot of pride that I needed to be humbled, and really believe the fruit of the masculine journey is that you find me and he thought they were making something of ourselves and get some success and got it taken back to first grade kindergarten to start over and really allow him to build them up in through humility were were actually living out what he intended for us to candy disliked it because it is when you think about that Hoosier daddy and his game out. I visited John All-American. I can guarantee you that the book good body so he mixes it with pride and ego talked about it last week. I want to shaming from my work a job like God push me into it like that.

The point wasn't Shane that I would wait you will work to an end point was that I finally got to the point of falling that delicate doing in that clip, realizing okay, this is not my pride here. I can't current job I needed to move on. So things, like trying to drill the English came in with pride. And then I finally got I'm listening to you swallow my pride and and look for a job marginalization. There were he just tries to get you off by yourself and be alone again in thinking back on the movie you need to remember the Titans. The whole movie is about breaking pride really is right on all sides of the equation that you had it when the linebackers are going at each other Write about in his pride driven for both of them you had to have been the head coach and then I can remember the first house down. His friend went ramp when the award for best coach.

You know, history will I forget how thin all of my health for Virginia yet and both of them had to battle through their pride right in the set it aside and humbled himself, and it was civil it was the good thing about that movie it's based on a true story that be without everybody tumbling their pride. There is no unity right right you can have one person that hangs out in the pride thing and have unity. Very often I give you, when it really works and how to get a bunch we all advise yell. It's all about me. There's nobody there exactly already have a clip as well. I do. I use it. You didn't use it, and this is one I wanted to save for last reason Dante that I will. This is from the chosen and this is the scene where Jesus comes in and feels the paralytic. This is Matthew nine and in this. You basically have the Pharisee thinks what Jesus is doing is blasphemy and is calling out the son of God, of all people is saying who are you, you can learn from.

No Pharisee down in Nazareth and all this kind of stuff and basically just put, trying to put a bunch of shame when the son of God, could you could you imagine more prideful thing but that's was going on in the senior center.

Listen let it play out will talk you to this kind teach. When did you study your faith son take hot scenes. We cease to be expressed to me who can forgive sins but God alone. But I ask you which is easier to say, your sins are forgiven or rise up and walk. It's easy to say anything but show you so that you may know that the Son of Man is the authority on earth to forgive sins I see nice and then as you go. Wanted Matthew you get into Matthew 11 so you there. You have a single Pharisee that has a lot of pride in the Matthew 1111 worries comparing the cities basic treason and say to woe to you for your like Tyre and Sidon, and basically same if Tyre and Sidon would've been shown what you are shown, they would've repented and does the same thing with Capernaum to Sodom and said side would remain to this day if they knew what you knew and saw what you saw and had all the signs and wonders and miracles that Jesus brought them in the message is just very deep in work on it for me, culminates then to the point it will how far can pride take you so big they go to the synagogue in Matthew 12 and you got them guy with the hand that needs to be healed and they want to trap him right like who can you heal on the Sabbath course. Jesus then explains it's good to do good on the Sabbath goes who wouldn't go get his sheep out of the ditch and basically gets the point where they end up then at the end there that will in 1214, but the Pharisees went out and conspired against him and how they might destroy him, so that it takes them all the way to murder murdering a guy that always doing as good explaining to them that it is. It's good to do good any day the week and they want to kill them for. That's how far pride can really run us down like it did with Satan. Thank you. The reason I didn't want to play that the blast was, it makes a point that you Jesus is trying to live out his calling and the thing that he runs up against that that awfully tries to take him out. His pride were people can't handle what he's doing ensued. We expect that our experience will be anything other than that when we try to live out our calling the were going to run up against people that have pride that you know Macomber show because these movie clips or whatever that might be you know that it's not a format they would like. I don't know who that I don't really care because I feel like doing the things God called us to. Maybe you're going to run up against initially expected when you're trying to live out your life and in the calling.

And if you're walking with him that it's going to be opposed. And so the other thing I was interesting. There were leopards back in Hazor that apparently I don't slapper but I swear to you friendlier see I think she does a leopard twice and there saying so all share a story about pride. I was at this point, maybe 2420 yeah, about 24.5, and a brand-new baby at home in she was your and 1/2 years old something like that and I got a new boss at work and in it was somebody that had been promoted out of a different area into this area. She can come from my purchasing and then when it was over over me and stuff it in the people in the field and she's had a lot of questions and it was at a time that I was really incredibly stressed if they had me spread way too thin. This is back in California and and I remember she just call me call me call me and asked me questions and I have to explain all that and I didn't mean this in any way shape or form is a sexist comment but I just said what you like to feel people do what the field people do and you do at the office. People do and will get our job done right and a week later I was at work. It was, I quickly because she heard a completely different one than what I intended it for one I would never make that statement, but it also taught me a lesson about being very slow to speak and I know you guys have a hard time believing that so to speak, especially in certain situations and evaluate things like differently and to be very intentional with communication is it hit right at the time that California was going into a recession and so I didn't find another job in the construction industry for about six months and on. I was mowing yards and installing sprinkler systems and doing whatever I could learn part of the story I is very humbling and have lots of time as I was cutting yards about the and how not to do it again but it was a prideful response to her. It was cooking her place of frustration, but it was like I better things to do than to do this and I think today she was my boss. I learned very quickly that was not the way to himself that yeah I assume everything so when I was younger my career I was much more humble. I was just doing my stuff at my level. I was getting promoted on a good regular basis that and then I found out about why was this maybe five years in there is a managed position came open, like supply but I like I really didn't think honestly I was ready to be a manager and if I would've actually applied when in and said that I would been the manager had been looking at everybody afterwards. You know that right above me. Why did you apply for that.

I didn't think I was ready will most people that you're going to get Michael where is this coming from you know. Next thing you know I'm in a situation where I can be a leader and things I am the leader and next thing I'm I'm very prideful about that they can.

All I can do much more than what I thought, because back then I could do know people thought I could do more so now. I took it the wrong way. I'm on the other side of it and I made comments to my boss that I shouldn't of made and next thing you know, I think that was a big part of me being bounced on my job at that time so you can swing many different ways to how you want to use the situation to grow you are to kill you and excellent. I got stepped in the site couple different times like none I know I really find myself much easier now to stop and go okay why are you going to going go into this conversation with me going in the meeting with what you what you trying to achieve by even trying to do anything at work and trying to build something that's like I really have to check myself safe like that happens to a lot of us. There was a time in my life when I thought I was real hot shot in the programming world. I even got in and modified IBM's operating system on the computer so that I could take it over. I created my own pre-compilers so that I didn't have to generate a lot of coding that was housekeeping cuts, stuff, and I have to admit that I became very prideful about that. And so the situation arose in the company where my boss had issues and had to go out of retirement when he did his close gather that I have hired a college and trying to make him my boss and that was what led me come in North Carolina which was a great things. It turns out that my pride thing lived my downfall.

The pride comes before following Scripture writer we've all lived it with authority before destruction sincere. It comes with a Barbara click working to get information about your web about your convictions central Ohio.com and go to masculine journey.org for our boot camp and entrenchment.

This fall, talking next week.
