This is the Truth Network heart of every man is a great adventure. Life doesn't usually feel that way. Jesus speaks of narrow gates wide roads masculine journey is filled with many twists and turns. So how do we keep from losing heart trying to find a way life feels more like a losing battle and something worth dying for, grab your gear, request band of brothers will serve as the guides called masculine journey masculine journey starts here now. Welcome masculine journey. Very glad you're with is this week. This is the last week before boot. Next week I will be coming live from boot camp and that's one of her favorite shows to do so will be doing that. Hopefully, if you have a good Internet connection and everything works or not you listen to another show that the best bachelor yeah I went down that often any headphones working your thinking ahead, I thought maybe they were now living in a series on boot camps.

But before we get to that, Robby. I would normally assess question. He's not here tonight and I'm sure will make fun of them at some point, but I asked him how many eaves.

There are no let's leave it where five years away from boot camp. So if you haven't registered go register now masculine journey.org campus April 29 through May 2. I think I get the dates right that's coming up very quickly. We'd love to have you there. There is still space.

Register now. Just get it over with.

I know you're busy and Tony got some amazing things for you there. Sort were continuing series on boot camp toxin on the skin touching on a little bit in anyone anybody here run through the toxins done so far.

Any core desire scores are as it's one closing yeah that is an order right. I think the best the wound. Yes, spiritual warfare, knowing new name name should have had spiritual warfare and today were talking about Jim son ship son ship ship.

I will not Shepherd had messenger being a son of that heavenly father right in minutes with the sleazy can I grow up. If you're in if your group going to Sunday school.

You kinda knew God's father and all that but it meant something different to everybody grind up and often you know how we project the image of God is the father often affects our relationship with them and how I see I now I grew up I thought it was in Christian faith. I want to say where that came from when I was but I saw God growing up more as you wait for me to screw up and out easily. Another Dave day nasty Santa Claus with the baseball bat rate in Wheaton to beat me if you know I did something wrong, yet I envision that the lightning bolt so my data hit it right. I got a really sad joke in detail, but I'm not going to say nothing for me July group and a great church and he taught on a lot of really good things and to be honest they may have taught about God's father God's love and I wasn't paying attention you have that within several years I wasn't vague as possible right way but I did hear all the fire and brimstone stuff so you know I kind of think and they left out some of it right right and so growing up. I decide God just like you said, sitting there to judge me right hence and so when we look at God. That way you know that the question becomes where the sentiments come from and how does it come from us, reading the Bible if it was like me growing up, get me open up your Bible for Sunday school was probably the best for Benedict. But we all get these images of what the father should look like.

And a lot of times that comes from our own father's our own fathers treatise our fathers you know are you maybe your father was absent. Or, you know, abusive, you know it, and often you know those are really the heart valves that overcome the keys you see God is absent or abusive and so you know, even in those times that we know one of things we talk about a camp is that it doesn't matter what your father did or failed to do. God is going to father you through other men. Now we talking often talking of the boot camp.

The only way to learn how to be a real man is from other men and I can learn from a block in optimal learning from mama. Sorry guys here only to learn from another man and God will send us people to father's us through different things and help train us and overcome and I'll talk more about that. It camped on but I think open up for first click on so the first click comes from Shawshank redemption and Andy is at Shawshank. He's the only innocent man and Shawshank. And he was basically framed for murder, for what he did. Sorry spoiler alert. If you haven't seen the movie you got to see it but one of things he's doing is trying to figure out what else to do with his life and there's a a young boy named Tommy who is kinda grown-up and he's, you know not doing so well and Andy takes Tommy under his wing to help amount is over, listen to that clip and this is basically one of Andy's friends narrating this red as they go through and they talk about how one father might look like if God were to send us someone to help us out. As it turned out, had himself a young wife and a new baby girl and it was a thought of them on the street so this child growing up not knowing my daddy whatever lies something that a fireman's thing and maybe try from high school equivalency.

Here you can fill us with yet is because if we do this, do it all away hundred percent thing you see and read something well.

So well tomorrow is TiVo and it took Tommy under his wing started walking him through his ABCs, took to it pretty well from brains he never knew he had. And now with Rob becoming fun brings you know, as we look at this clip we we we notice a couple things we notice that there's a need and almost you know instantly and he starts eating fathering process. You know, correcting his English guy I get a weaker appearance also know our English you need help anyways have southern English southern executives.

So anyways as we go through, you know, God sends us people to help us in our lives for it for me that looked like a rainbow of man that you know mostly fathers of other friends who you know is netting out for me personally. I didn't have a abusive father. He was you know home every day. But he was getting older and age and there was some other things going on in the background. I was not aware of that. I'll be more than happy to share it can't from when I was growing up in things that I went through in the. The image that I projected on God. Now a lot of that was that. You know God is going to let me down that you know he wasn't going to be there when I needed him most. And I still fight with every day and so Andy tells a little bit about your story and how you saw God. I think I think a moment with everybody mean you read the Old Testament you know you saw God as the mighty slider like the kind of thing that you know I think really I mean I get close to God in my 20s still, there were some things that I know he came in he spoke to me and he actually told me I was his beloved son. At that point in time within other things got in the way you know life has a way of beating God out of beating the idea that God is accessible. I think more than anything that this yeah he's a he's a heavenly father and that means he's fathers were always children all over the world. All these people for my regeneration and he just doesn't have enough time for us individually unless the crazy thing got God created the heavens and he can do anything but more of really dizzy really didn't do all my math that was separate from him from wanting to really spend time with me and and be accessible and I think that's probably what I've learned more in the boot camp and when you guys know they they allowed me to do this then shipped out three times in a row. Sam says 13 or 12 or something that it felt like it a lot. It was exactly, but it was a journey for me and it was one where I feel like a walk through the process of healed of learning how to do spiritual warfare getting my new name, but I feel like the, the, the gold at the end of the rainbow was having an intimate relationship with father and made a huge impact on me and now it changes my whole concept of how I choose to live my Christian life as you growing up being young in a church in God was the judgment a guy with a lightning bolt that talked about earlier, and as a became a Christian, you know, and I knew God love me the traits of my father. I really did project on him and I didn't realize until I learned it in the boot camp enough. My dad was very loving. I knew he loved me. That was never a question right. But he never had time for any of my activities. I never very rarely went to baseball game is a huge baseball fan in nine types of things with three games. I think the whole time I played over six or seven years. The meeting at a scouting of incident anything and so I grew up with this impression when I first became a Christian I a I believed God, let me know he has to he's got elected everybody right so he loves me. Please have busier things to do. Manning is a world hunger to solve he's get in a war somewhere over there to deal with it what I want is not important and I was so far from the truth well into boot camp and learn about that got started unpacking a lot of that I could put away the way my dad was it not no longer think that's with the father is right and welcome to get that way right. That realization that you can have a relationship God. It will come back right after the break.

Talk more about it, but in the meantime some time to today get a masculine journey.org register for the upcoming boot camp cannot next week. What if one weekend wasn't up to, you know it all, masculine journeymen camera basic training designed to give men permission to be how God made warriors based on John outages experience four days purpose for God to come after and perhaps reawaken dreams and desires placed in your masculine journey spring camp coming up April 29 seconds got a mask when journey.org and register today.

This is my son Eli talk about ways he held his ministry, smiled at him and smiled at him is his information on website there on how to do that to Facebook.com and click the donate button you can get a masculine journey.org and find the.org PO Box 559 and in and when asked about this. This is your prompt. First, I thought that was like a nuclear something that was stuck because it was like a gang and I dating you said no that's how important it is, though or not. I mean we can go to the father again and again. And Lord knows I have gone to the father. Once I knew that was much more accessible that he was much more accessible. Not that he never was five. My acknowledgment of that I go to the father again and again. But that's not where you pick that up not take that not because I actually went to Ohio recently to a advancement camp with some friends of that ministry printed just from Ohio invited me up and that was one of the songs they played for worship. I think I'd heard it maybe once or twice, but they have just been there except their and manages got in my spirit and I'm like yeah that's what I'm been talking about you so as it plays what you know.

It was during Freeman even a little snippet was. It feels like I'm running home right on going to a place of rest and going to places less stress in place of hope right right and that's what's conveyed even in that little snip yet my heart needs a surgeon. My son needs a friend in Folsom. Yeah. And so it is no Lou we continue traveling Dennis Turney say one of things that struck me when I was a boot camp is not the my relationship with God had improved greatly before it ever comes my first camp, too much wailing and gnashing of teeth. You might say any info in finding different avenues of worship for me personally, but I think what you know, one of things that I realized more along the lines when I was a boot camp is. I came to realize that realization that while I have really screwed up my kids 8 AM. Being there is so many of us in the room have played both sides that point we been the son that you know wants to be our euro. Daddy's favorite if you will.

And then we been on the opposite side of the coin where we had children that we had the father in life just gets in the way you know bosses make demands the wives want things done around the Holliston, you know, in you flying that's it becomes very difficult to balance a lot of that and so Beckham leads us into our next cleanup and I, last night I stumbled across this by accident this week and it really just kind of get out. At first it jabbed me in the sideline. See you falling short. But then I realize that were not machines were not perfect but God is and so this is comes out of Terminator to Sarah's out there in the desert with her son Arnel Arnolds comes back, you know, as you know, the Terminator, and this time he's hasn't come back to you now wreak havoc and kill everybody he's come back to protect John from the other Terminator he's been new and improved. Of course, but it was funny to hear Sarah as she's journaling you know and talking about this Terminator that comes through and how this Terminator has become a father in Johnsburg and yes John is her younger son watching John with the machine. Secondly, so clear to me needing never stopped it with never any and would never hurt him never shouted and market drunk and hit him saying it was too busy to spend time with him. It would always be dying to protect the father would be father came and went over the years this thing this machine was the only one who measured in an insane world scene is associated II go through that clip and the first thing that comes in my mind is how many times in my tell my kids and I have time for her or him many times that I have a bad day at work and you know they want to share something with me and I bet their head off or yell at them than you use must be that already know, and so were not perfect fathers and makes me realize that my father could've never been a perfect father. He wasn't to machine energy is you know and you said earlier this week or earlier today hurting people tend to hurt people, and so you know, as a father I have to remember to kind of take it easy on myself. Recently I found myself in a conversation with my daughter and we were talking about them. Growing up and she has an entirely different picture of who I was as a father than I have towards it. For me it was at this one so the kids and then later on had another syndicate management been married twice and and I had two daughters and after after they were came aground the most part, I got into this message, you know, and really the heart really started to change and so I feel like actually two different fathers in or through it in. I should probably for different fathers to each kid you know little different but I really had a lot of hurt over the mistakes I and so we were doing a show on God's glory. You know that we have on each have a piece of God's glory right into so that God reminded me of something about my youngest daughter you know about how she really carries this righteous thing that you know she wants things to be right in the world really well and should she really mirrors that I shared it on the show and I thought well I'm scared to tell her about it and send her the scent of the show. I senator and it opened up to this great conversation with her and her fiancé about in fiancés asked me what's my was my glory in this hello all, I'll look for it, you know, and we'll talk about it right because it is so it's never too late when you're walking with God as his father, and you continue to help you father your kids even when he did mess up because we aren't perfect in life, does changing as we become closer to him. Then we can irradiate things differently to moment and got open new stores of really letting yeah I know that you guys talk so much about I radiate you now unto God what I what I got from my father. I'm one of those weird ones. I guess is I never did. I was just more I guess on the apathetic lines. I just got God's God and other than that I didn't really go any deeper.

I grew up going to church basic to please my mom and was post be learning something that never really did it just cut it was there and after all these years you know something finally sunk in what I was listen to the truth from somebody could expositor it much better and finally know you. You look back I what did I ever learned in church I was going all the time.

I never learned I think a lot of that comes with the connection when you know that I we we talk about me. Can we talk about agreements and stuff but that's not the truest thing about us and I think when we realize that we are sons and daughters of the King of Kings that he is a top business family. That's when we start making a closer connection of you know that son to the father and in the case but is very immature when that connection make takes place.

You know God becomes the wishing genie if you will. God I want this or I want that in that's not the relationship God wants no yes. He wants to bless you. But that's not the relationship he's looking at yeah I did know material objectivity and since it's all relational is about the heart and that's were in being able to walk in this message. Like you said we talked last week about how all the different talks build and grow and grow together as a full story and that's where you guys hopefully are sending this over the last few shows that that's where this is not that's why love because the you talk about warfarin agreements and any step in the sun ship know if you break those agreements.

A large step in their and just this last year. Having a relationship with more than it had just been so awesome because it actually the closest I've ever been, and we had the most. One of most crazy cheers my own personal story and all that to that you're sitting there going to be okay, so got okay you think about me and how much world fathers great in our kids do things that just drive us nuts right every IV obviously unit they drive us nuts are things I do that. This frustrated super honest I kids are learning the doing stupid things, in whatever that is that your heart 11 just tremendously. It overcomes all that and then when you think about why can't I project that on God right that yeah I mess up mess up every day right but his capacity for love is well beyond my comprehension and he loves me even though I'm a huge tremendous mess up right in. That's okay, and he wants me he chose me.

He adopted me, knowing I was a mess up right, not that it always have to be just wrote one quick word to me.

We actually make ourselves out to be better than God because we don't hold that against our children. We still love them when they mess up within when we mess up. We think either today. The last thing he wants to talk to let that's it for the farthest thing from the truth. And sometimes we need to have more grace for herself, like we do have for others at times girl to do some you want to say I think we got all of the time it's occurred to me that the we fail this fathers in different ways.

My father mentioned before, he had a problem with alcohol. He filled me in the sense that the he had nothing to do with teaching me about God at all like you said Sam. Your father didn't go to your ballgames stuff minded. Neither know what it was like to play games with my father so he was very lax in that respect I failed. My oldest son let me into spurning the opposite direction. I tried to force church down his throat and created all kind of problems so often we fail and guess what we had and didn't want but it takes us in the wrong direction. If you're not careful you absolutely want to talk a lot more about this in the after hours to get any the podcast location you get passenger in the after hours. If you're Artie listening to some podcast you know that in the meantime, good masculine journey.org register for the boot camp coming up next week, April 29 through May 2. Talk to you next week.
