Also he mentioned a wildcard candidate.

I've been told by multiple guys. I trust in the last 24 hours is involved. That's Harvard coach Tommy Hammacher and he makes a lot of sense to me.

There's usually a dark horse candidate and most coaching searches in wakes case.

It's certainly Hammacher to give you a sense of what I've been up to show ends him immediately on the phone I'm talking to people who are saying things like this coaching candidate is actually on campus right now even though campus is closed and completely locked down so you have to take some information and try to backcheck it and put that next other things that are out there. You don't want to trust everything you see. But normally some of the familiar faces who have done this for a very long time Goodman being one of them reliable information.

So I do believe all those guys he mentioned to be in the mix. But if we are going to acknowledge and Hammacher as a candidate. You gotta think is a serious one is wake has been pushing this very quickly since Curry made the decision last Saturday. In fact, I've been told by at least three people that they're trying to get this thing done in the next 48 hours so I think wakes can have a new coach by the end of the week and M occurs case. I think he has the best resume for Wake Forest.

The perfect resume for way we talk about understanding the job how important that is fit as J villas told us yesterday it everything anywhere you go. What is Wake Forest the smallest piece. Six institution in America. It's a private school. There are challenges with that. In my mind doesn't mean he is the favorite but I think he might be the safest guy on the board.

He's going to win. He's going to build the right way. He understands how to run things at a private institution.

This is not a guy who's going to be making any excuses at all about why the geeks can't win. I have him and Pat Kelsey at the very front of the list. I prefer Kelsey because he's younger, more energetic 44 years old high-fiving people just bumping social media. Kelsey also has that connection to Skip Prosser, wake didn't get it right with how it should have pursued Chris back in 2014.

They can write that wrong with Kelsey.

He is a risk. Stylistically, the way they played.

It never made sense to me why college athletes could benefit for signing some autographs or doing something for Dick's Sporting Goods or in all being able to sign a shoot you. I never really understood that, so I think this is the NCAA usually takes a lot longer than it should. Coming to its senses bought I'm gonna wait and see what the details on this are as the board of governors recommended the NCAA. They want to see changes made in this department. These are not the changes themselves. That's good to be implemented by January when those details are announced I'm gonna take a look at what exactly those are, but I do think good in IL legislation could have kept star players in this state an extra year in college.

It could've prevented some guys from jumping immediately to the MBA. I think about Zion Williamson, for example, all jobs or whatever the number one pick. No chance he's coming back to do.

It took a lot longer for him to announce it because he wanted to return when he got into people's at all to prepare for the draft. He told us all along. I love Duke. I wanted to go to Duke. I made a lot of phone calls in the last 24 hours and it's just one of those things where there's a lot of misinformation when it comes to Forbes and Miller, but I trust Jeff Goodman who we expect to be on the show on tomorrow.

He broke the dandy news is one of the insiders we have in college basketball. He he said that it's Miller and Forbes who are front runners at this moment I see Miller as the most fascinating candidate out there, but I also think what fascinates me about him. Also might be hurdles for him to get the job.

Maybe it would hold him back from wanting to take the job or Wake Forest wanting to offer him an opportunity and it starts with the concern about Ken Miller. I think that's real. Ken Miller is not the primary donor. I think Connor O'Neill either set on the show told me some other time that he's not one of the primary tier donors like a McCreary or a Mitch Shaw or like a bin Sutton or even like a flow with low automotive and all that but he is a secondary donor enough so that he has his name on the practice facility that Wake Forest players will be going into and that's is such an interesting dynamic that I've never seen before somebody be in a good enough coach locally that he will get an opportunity potentially to coach in a building that bears his name. That is why, but I think there are pros and cons with that. The Pro obviously is the weight connection and he understands Winston-Salem understands Wake Forest the negative on from Wes's perspective might imagine. He doesn't want nepotism to be something that people say resulted in him getting something he feels he earned right also if you're John Curry in your Wake Forest you have to have the conversation with Ken Miller.

Is this something you're comfortable with because someone stole me coaches there hired to be fired. One day they will get fired. It's very rare that a guy stay somewhere forever, and when that day comes, if it comes.

What happens then I would Miller can Miller strolling in that the buyout money to get rid of his son. Also, I know a lot of these major donors. They're all friends with each other. Go to games with each other. They know each other.

If it's seen as a messy deal that you Wes is somebody there trying to move off of it could damage the relationship with the donor that they have and if if they don't agree that Wes should be fired in an instant way down the road. Who's to say it doesn't affect the other donor's willingness to give if there siding with their friend Tim Miller. I just think there are a lot of angles to this that have to be explored. Agree but I feel the can Miller dynamic is a plus for Wes Miller in this regard. I think that gives them a direct tie in to Wake Forest. No doubt of courses is his upbringing in this area.

Therefore, Wake Forest potential higher Wes Miller is something that we spoke about briefly yesterday just on the idea that we know that this time Wes Miller's last right. We know where Wes Miller wants to end up he wants to be the vehicle for development, Chapel Hill, and there are. I don't. I am not concerned with that. I'm not there or I know there are donors who don't want to make a decision. Don't want to pay out so much in the buyout hire a new coach that they feel if he successful. It's just essentially good to be a farm system for the Tar Heels.

Like I feel like that is something some donors are worried about.

Here's what I would say to them, no background when he was hired last year or year and 1/2 ago.

The biggest criticism of it was my gosh, only to get him for four or five years how great of a decision.

Does that look like now for North Carolina looks like an excellent decision. Five years is a long time. Skip Prosser I think was only a Wake Forest for six, maybe seven years. Danny was here for only six seasons, but it seemed like a lot longer than that. Wake needs to get somebody who wins. If Wes takes the North Carolina job in this hypothetical as the head coach of wake, that means he won at wake correct and that means he put the program in a better place, then it is right now.

Roy is retiring anytime soon. I'm done guessing when that's going to happen so I don't think Wes is in that place yet is not in that to your where I think he would even be considered for North Carolina's had basketball job he would need to go to a place like Weick or somebody like that in order to get that type of opportunity.

I'm not worried about that. If I'm Wake Forest not at all. I mentioned the example of Scotty Montgomery yesterday at East Carolina Scotty. He was hired from Duke, he went to do. David Conklin, he's getting up there in years prior fans.

They were they were critical of it. All my gosh, this cousin when so much to lose them in.

Then three or four years might well be better than what we've had the last few years where ECUs done all this losing and that's not where you want to be right and it ended up. He did not win as much as they thought he would. He ended up getting fired so worried about the waiting first worry about bringing the guy you think is going to put your program in a better place and what is between Wes and Forbes got a go Wes in the situation. How is that going to go when he's at Wake Forest, where I think it is harder to recruit then Ohio State. As for the reward. This is why think he's the highest reward candidate of the bunch. He is the only candidate that's been to the final four and he hasn't just been there.

Randolph Childress to be your assistant out hundred percent that would be a very smart thing by force. To do immediately if you're trying to relate to people because you have no ties to North Carolina awake while Randolph is somebody who has coached your last sample years is connected to the previous staff. It's not unknown for somebody to do that for so I'm not really concerned that much about the ties for a guy like Matta resources do concern me though he was at Ohio State from 2004 to 2017 and he's been out of the last three years winning awake it's different than when it Ohio State. Now it's still a job you can win at.

It isn't like some of the cruddy jobs you see other places I do them when it Wake Forest is big pay $15 million to buy a basketball coach portably. I will they'll have resources for you to win basketball games and it's good league player in a hotbed when it comes to recruiting you. You can win it Wake Forest but it's just a different amount of resources to get a small private school than you would at a big public school like Ohio State, just that it's not good and that is a concern of mine. They have it. Not my favorite candidate Pat Kelsey of said it all on my favorite candidate, but that Mata is the highest risk, highest reward candidate of the six popular names we keep seeing thrown out there.
