Broken most of the Wake Forest basketball news in the last week and had Steve Forbes is the front runner all along is Jeff Goodman from Stadium. Jeff is kind enough to be here with us now and Jeff, I understand Steve Forbes knew John Curry back in their days at Tennessee when John was the associate A.D. there.

How much do you believe that relationship with Forbes to be the difference maker and him being wake sky. Absolutely I'm a new norm. You know, and I think again he trusted him. While a lot of people would say that Steve Forbes is a little bit of an outside the box. Harper wake because the Cambridge or Gary Bennett Junior College recruit a lot of junior college kids, you're not going to do that. It wake make ultimately Curry was. It felt good about the fact that Forbes was reliant on Yuko kids that he could go to high school route that he had enough contacts and enough confidence in him that again he could recruit a lot of different types of kids you know could go first parking at Waco. Not easy, you lose a lot of credit for what I've heard kids transferring in the wake is much harder than getting in high school coach that I spoke to in the last week when I brought up candidates. They all raved about Forbes, I thought of the coaches coach talked the localizer they talk about him the same way when you ask coaches about Bob McKillop. They rave about him at Davidson but the concerns are. Aside from what you're mentioning the Janco stop, which I'm not that terribly concerned about because career assistant. He recruited to Tennessee recruited other big places he doesn't have a background in the Carolinas and he doesn't have experience coach to get a private institution. Despite his long career as an assistant.

So aside from knowing Curry. What do you think of it as a fit. I think you figure out a way to get it done. Not all that concerned.I think Wes Miller would be in your heart to think "you're so good with people. I think he is good and coach recruit is good with people.

If you got those great things in you not like about 30-year-old. He's been around the block a little bit so I think he can figure it out.

He got long-standing contacts and what he did at ETSU and from his standpoint it. A lot of people would say well wisely forsaken his job a year from now you get a job pitching better right media times in her Georgia Tech or whatever whatever another job that you get used to it, but I think if you see Forbes your thinking is up to things number one you taken wake of the right time spent 10 years of of kind of abysmal performance, but it's a good job. We know that like you can win it wake you can finish in the top six or seven in the ACC consistently wake up you do that during the NCAA permit number two was everything he went through being fired at Tennessee having to go code for 60 grand Northwest Florida State understand it. Things can change quickly. You never know you take advantage of the opportunities you give it to you because I saw how quickly that could be taken away. So how can I turn down a job likely force Jeff Goodman with us from Stadium how involved you believe that moderate to be in this search because I know we told you a few years ago that he turned down Georgia and quite a bit of money because he just wasn't ready to dive back in.

Yeah, I think again prick that it's gotta be Dr. perfect right and now I know they counted this ticket will kick tires on them a little bit with Tommy Hammacher. I don't think either move forward at all. I think it was, like, you know, and what you think of these guys and oh by the way, are you interested in.

I think working better than both of them for like it's a major rebuilding job major rebuilding four times the energy.

I don't think that has the energy I don't think you know again about Laura Notre Dame goes through word open up at some point, you know, may be for amateur I think it is pretty happy at Harvard take a lot to get him to Harvard and oh by the way was like he killed Michigan when he was a major level. No, the other half of your breaking news today. Aside from breaking the Steve Forbes stuff, Wake Forest. This is what you said right after the higher it believes to that they don't have to pay Danny Manning the 15 million yet of an existing deal because quote he failed to meet certain criteria. Now, a lot of people are curious what that might be what did you make of that headline didn't surprise you. I heard this like on Saturday. Believe it or not. I try to get the details of exactly what it is in the contract that they're trying to dispute the only thing I've been told is part of it will be retention right all the transfers and everything that but a lot of it in the factory PR necessarily, so I don't think it's a link to EPR. I don't know all the specifics.

All I know is that again one of the reasons why junker was in the make this move because the shock of the timing right. I mean, that was the biggest thing you guys and save the jobs right now because of the pandemic you fired. What one of the reasons were the main reasons couriers it would do it was because his legal team obviously told him hey listen, we believe you're only going to have to warming up the pay Danny Manning 56 7 million, whatever that number is and oh by the way, 3 million this coming year. I'll save you million plus I. Higher were not going to pay 3 million so he couldn't get a fat mod or Tommy Democrat even if you want to do because the number what I had to start with at least two maybe three to get a guy like that you saw on Saturday. I asked Curry about the buyout and that's when he gave the answer about it is indeed the economic support the decision but also at the end he said don't believe the report to see in the media about 15 million. What you make about the $15 million figure today know I know can't believe there are 50, I noted that's the only guaranteed aspect of the deal. But again, I think wake is using certain verbiage in that certain things that he didn't perform. And you know what he was there. The performance-based aspects that that there claiming that they're not paying the full 50 so I honestly think you could go even a court order to come to some sort of agreement but I haven't seen the actual contract targets. Obviously it's a private school so you have to be able to get back that contract to see exactly what the verbiage is how do you think this is a play in the coaching community because I think it worked out good for wake that hey you get your dynasty Forbes and then this headline drops my wrong to think that this headline where hey wakes trying to get out from underneath this buyout number is going to play well with the coaches so funny that your thought about that again…. Select reported between got put out earlier I could Saturday but yes try to get a little bit more info and I thought about like how people are gonna react on one hand you say well you know when I paid 50 million potentially could such a huge number right now is where we are with the country and everything like that.

Number two, you know they could be thinking like quote you know any MetLife why. Danny Manning like to eat a hot hot hot character guy just came what is owed. You can't do in this little bit with Kevin Ali not all he had NCAA violations but you can't go to one of their own and getting crucified for it because again, some of it is semantics and managers can be interesting to see what that contract stipulates, and not legally entitled to their money is Danny Manning, entitled restricting her is only entitled five, six, seven, or they do say you know what there's a lot of ambiguity with this agreement were to meet somewhere in between close on this just great reporting is always you believes that Wake Forest secured $15 million that they have to pay it that they have the funds to do so will do you. It without understanding that a worse case scenario and we have to pay the 15. My guess is obviously spread out over over. Time you're not paying 15 in one lump sum so can you do that and again if you do not think about okay, so many made 3 million this year and you paying Forbes 1.55% like that look straight up the number I think it'll be somewhere about 1517 Grange, you know, at least you're not hiring somebody for another €3 million you already were paying in that remaining surreal you have to raise that 1.5 somehow or try to raise it or take the hit.

Just thank you so much for the time I know you're busy and congrats again on the great work is always in the other part that real quick real quick is camp for four people in the seat next year. So all the money you're losing by nobody showing up weight games you're thinking we might build a make up some of that wood with the hiring reports would be excitement even if were not as good. Sometimes people just to get excited about the novelty of a new coach. They want to see it you get some more season-ticket holders open up who knows. So I think that they cannot wait to.

It was jovial last year. This year, let's give Forbes a chance and then you got the May 20 deadline.

The waiver boat of the one-time transfer waiver and if that goes through it. I don't think it's going to goes through words to go out some guys right now to be a lot more guys in the transfer waiver if that does go through and let's not forget the economics might be different where the ACC network monies can start to hit, and that's to make things may be potentially easier easier in that regard, and also also I think Wake Forest it might you're not in the pandemic. Hopefully in one or two years when everything gets litigated and who knows, maybe Danny doesn't want to fight me Mike to settle for the 7 1/2 day with McCorkle. I fight like for a while if I believe it in my larger legal team development you're entitled to it. I'm not giving up any yet not yet suitable follow on Twitter, as I'm sure you probably already are at Goodman hoops follow his stuff at Stadium as well. Jeff look forward to catching up. Somewhere down the line.
