It's been pretty yesterday was the 11 year anniversary Scott Walker scored the game-winning goal game set in double overtime against the Boston Bruins at 2009 and then you see in these anniversaries one year ago the hurricanes advancing past the Washington Capitals and passed the New York Islanders on their way to the Eastern conference finals and you just start thinking to yourself, all man this is kind of what we been without no NBA basketball. No NHL hockey as well and were being joined by somebody. I'm sure is missing. It is well, Rod Brind'Amour, the head coach the hurricanes is with us. I see it every single day. When I look in the mirror. I haven't shaved in a month and 1/2. I'm not good at growing facial hair like I know you're probably not as well. Have you ever even tried to grow the facial hair long at any point about what he said I could like it, or give me heartburn about that they will hear that. I guess our game was on seven light bar. You know I got out there was no no. It's true, I never really tried. Because what I did try looks okay so leave it clean. I'm just dying to get back into a kickboxing gym that I have here in the dryer without it been kind of out of shape a bit, but you were known for your workout regiment so I got to know what has the regimen been the last two months. Well I am a routine that I have to exercise every day so I definitely met all the most part, so not quite the same century bike ride at all get out. The weight room and then and then still working and working from home.

A lot of videos do parent for essentially a draft and potentially start up at some point you just cannot know try to keep so busy, I would how optimistic are you about to restart. I don't know. I want to be mean, but it just obviously it's just weird to so many for so many dynamics seems to be so many issues, but if you take certainly not a lot.

My people to make a working but I certainly hope we can get back in the one thing that just to get some sort of normalcy. Like a lot of people and I think that's, that's, will I like to see take me into some of the behind the scenes where you're also charged with keeping tabs on the team you can't see it in person. So you got younger guys got teenagers.

Of course you got management so I'm sure you're in touch with Don Waddell and also Tom Dunn did what does that communication structure look like the most ardent and in terms of the communication for management Tom and Donald and then organizationally I guess that we were meeting three times a week doing various things in the big issue with the players and not the toughest because scattered all over the world right now and really what what are you, saying that we had to have met you, meaning they do a little bit training together on that this is not my grade so I think coaches given each guy individual workouts based on what they have available to them. You know some places it's open up a morning, especially in Europe. So those guys are actually little more ahead of being able to do things look good. Despite being connected is nothing great obviously and hopefully if we get some news in the near future and all of the plan.

At least then may we can start get back together little bit Brind'Amour with the surround sports on triad.

You mentioned you were looking back at game seven. When you watch the Stanley Cup championship in 2006, June 19, what sticks out to you when you watch that came special again. We watched it my my my youngest kid never seen it. Even if we watched a couple shifts left like you would ask at the game. What variance is going right out good memories just watching it. I just how great a team. We really were like a lot of great players on the team that didn't really maybe get well. I think I can get a lot of maybe the prophet does nationally are in the hockey world but is a lot of great hockey players on the team not to see after going what you remember most about how the posting celebration. How much sleep did you get that night. You don't say Dr. not that that's obviously why you play the game the whole 9 yards, or by our stand this well when we had again that you not to be limited much, but we had an older team guys that had never want for the most part so special to you finally get that done and then with those, guys, I am going to give everything I had to win special and some you want to try to re-create. Obviously, certainly not easy get a chance to watch any of the last dance.you series the I love that I grew up modestly and was a man riding in and also watching on in and just the Internet era where he was. It and so pretty pretty neatly relive that right just put you put you back where you are like that. Remembering all the stuff that went on, remembering how crazy it was in hearing from him. I think it's awesome. My next great best TV there is honesty right now is not much loss but it's all great athletes in the world and get an insight that to me that the whole of behind-the-scenes stuff that's going can't get enough of last week. I think we had the most substitutes for you have him describing his leadership methods where he would ride Scotty Burrell's teammate into in order to make them tougher and he was asked about how that might have made people think he was a good guy and he talked about winning comes at a cost leadership comes at a cost and he had to take a break after answering that question when people talk about you. They talk about leadership as well. So when you see the way that he went about it and just how much determination was Darren how intentional it was what went through you. Well I get it totally on know he was about wanting the end of the day, so sorry teammates right you know they don't work that way guarantee that you know now that he treat them a certain way. Maybe they did like well you know what I still got about, you know, and so he just felt like a leader. The other questions were glad to get the most out of so they could win. Not that I don't think it was personal. I don't think he was like someone didn't like him. These like I got to do this to get the most guys know. He said it.

You mentioned it perfectly painful little bit sorry I don't know.

I don't think he went out there to say I'm to be a bag. I treat people you know that way you knew we had to do that to get the best out of them. People describe you as a leader by example. Is there an example you think of where you met you had to get into somebody just to get them motivated to get them in line with Downing and I would play all the time with their certainly times were you know get into people's faces, but I think were talking different players may not use the best of the best around. I certainly was not going different style and hockey's way different I think than basketball because you really have five guys planning time six or seven guys that really on the team or will they count on where we're 2022 guys and we can now count almost family still lives with more leaders and just one guy that makes sense if you can lean on other guys to be the bad guy you could call me and I can you please know by example and you know you got the Ray Whitney maybe the copper guy is a funny guy, just different levels of it, but it all has to do more with this Eurosport sub triad so Sundays could be the finale and working to see behind-the-scenes footage of the flu game as they won their sixth title you had several broken nose as you play through injuries emergency to be a tough guy. What's the craziest thing you've ever played through well what crazy but I had a broken foot. When I got traded here and had kinda healed in and so when I got here I was play that year limit half-year and then but it was not right and I Was constant but a lot of pain and mom found out it was broken. The old house plan so you know I felt like you. I'm glad it was over. My partner like you in my head like okay I knew I wasn't playing well, so I didn't know I was playing through it, but maybe if we'd known, I would note Planning, but that injury never healed from the trade. When I got here so that's probably the crazy thing so long you know. But all of the north wanting a hockey player. Every one of the guy. Did you talk to me, especially back in the day. I say the back, you know, maybe 10, 15 years ago. He was planted stuffing with different methods of dealing with pain was allowed. Now you know you just the norm. You know different medicines and things that you did not go play and now we know better, but that doesn't happen anymore for the better but all the guys back in the day, play to lot a lot of things give me the thing that you use used to try and number pain or something like that. You look back on you said I was stupid.

What they don't do anymore but I don't know about Photoshop and think that there's always wanted a numbing but it use those anymore but I can remember know that was what five was lined up for the game to get those thing that function. If you didn't numb the pain a little and I don't think they'd realize that that's not the way to go so we don't we don't have those lineups anymore medical office with you again. I was just kind the norm, not the absolute best. Thank you for doing this. I look forward to seeing hopefully some hockey sometime soon I hope your family safe as well.

Thanks so much thinking you got it. That's not Brind'Amour had to the Carolina hurricanes and these being modest. He's one of the toughest dudes.

That's ever played the Carolina hurricanes
