San announced that they were to cancel all nonconference football game for the fall we were chatting with former Mountaineer quarterback FL network. The draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah who said I'm not a coach. I'm not an administrator I'm certainly not a player I can say this with confidence that Wisconsin is happy at that upstate game is no longer on the schedule and he also said how happy he was to have his former left tackle and Shawn Clark now leading the Mountaineer program, the head of the athletic department with app state Doug Dillon, the director of athletics kind enough to join us now, so I'll ask you we are within Jeremiah had to say how happy do you think the badgers are that they don't have to face your mountaineers this year. You know I think they would rather always go with your yet we are super excited to go out there and play can't render 11 of the best that college football so we're really excited to go. You know the news we understood. You know what a difficult decision. The college athletics right now group and in the continue to carry on here but we were.

We are excited to go play. Have you already had discussions with schools about potentially replacing that Wisconsin yeah I am not. It was bad. Everybody got open weekend really candidate and I know you got. We reach out to a bunch of conversations back and forth. I think all of us.

So, when you know what else might happen, but you know it's assuming that we can play were actively trying to fill that hole are scheduled app state director of athletics Doug Dillon with us here without getting into the specific schools.

If you do replace that game. Do you think it makes more sense to player power. Five were to play in FCS considering that it was ruled that unlike previous years.

You can have two FCS games count against your wins leading the bowl eligibility like what makes matters in terms of what you have the availability you know that game certainly was a financial gain for us.

Those aren't available right now and you love the games that are available are the folks that were applying Big Ten teams and if they were our five teams are playing big empty their home home so really not not know will guarantee, so I think you'll throw us looking at okay who could play on what they home is a way you certainly we were slated to go on a relatively go on the road cheaper and so for us in the group of five and you know that's the kind not one of the best tenants in the group of five homes is important for soon and could help make up so that we can get another home game everything so fluid right now it's just you to hook up light on what date would other. What other things might happen between now and the season. I think we all thought, even monthly to go.

This could be very fluid standpoint certainly saw some of that start last week. I want to get your reaction to something TCU A.D. John Gilbert told us yesterday we were talking to him about the impact for school for G5 schools that really rely on football attendance, potentially not having the nonconference games the toll it might take. And this is what he said well for schools like ECU playing without hands is more of a financial hit in that you know we would play the games, no fans, we still have all the expense of putting a game on traveling to a game all the ancillary calls with playing both home and the roof on the road without the revenue. If you don't play the games at all. Certainly you have the revenue that is good, but you also you don't have all the expense from it.

So your bottom line is actually better for a school like us in that case.where do you stand specifically on the argument of what's more beneficial for when it comes to having fall fall and fall football with fit without fans in the stands versus spring football but potentially having fans there you go to John's point in John does a great job you breaking point right there. There's a point where no fan correct yet expense. No fan or how can that there's some type of weather's 50% or whatever the number might be that will be able to play with fans and then there's a point where revenues are better than your expense. You know if it now 20% and that's about it right, you lose money and so put a 50% you do, you can release the money in a place like Appalachian because of no strength or ambition, then the folks want to watch us play, you know I think will magically know inside I don't even know from a synaptic perspective. From experience, perspective, and then certainly from a financial perspective. If you are playing in an empty stadium. Yeah, I don't really wrap my head around what that could even look like so everywhere from no fan base like a 50% type thing scenarios that were looking at. No, no fans really hard to imagine what that would make sense still dealing with this year. App state director of athletics. It sounds like you're fairly optimistic. What's the source of your optimism. Well I'm glad for you in the unit will run out of time. Certainly, in terms of, you know what it's called. And you know pass the peak plateau the curve you choose to believe that will and I think the way that I've been looking at it month by month in Philly as we sit here mid-July unit was solid and it last week and impact. Well, I think you have some decision public letter in ECC will decide to go conference only in this. I think what you looking to get August in the side of work landscape conference only power fibers five and then you start looking at okay can we plan in those decisions I think will be made need to be made first week of August just as a point of reference to go the new plan. September 5 if it's not that I think the next candidate you look at is can you play by October 1 and October 1. Certainly for a conference only your aching schedule.

Could you maybe good night came in again press home games really important. If you can't that benchmark November the then you really start socializing conversation is used to screen the possibility is important too much into TV Windows attorney availability is to escort really look at it month by month and certainly while the news is not good today were so plan on point change here in the next couple weeks, but they were still plan on being ready going to come for circling back to the start we were talking about the Wisconsin game. I think the way you put it. It was fast and furious and you been talking to multiple schools ballpark it for me. How many schools have you been in touch with to see just how interested they would be in playing on a given date, 50 you know you look at early on that day everybody lost September 19 and so, although the possibilities open and so you have a condo where we started in the compost regatta. He doesn't happen. Plan on the state and your social marketing for the month of September. Assuming that we can plan that might be really fluid in October got a copper schedule laid out and over that it so I really look at it over the next couple weeks with some decisions that are made by the other part five conferences that will zero in on all schools like yes goals are part will happen when you lock connecting so that's why Ross cast a wide network conversation.

A lot of schools in the decedent got opening who can travel host wonder what is their capacity look like and whatever they might be in so you have all that, but it's really big, but then turned to figure this out something that none of us have ever dealt before it's Doug Dillon, app, state director of athletics before we let you go muncher if you knew this but it's national French Friday waffle fries, steak fries, curly fries, or another style. What is Doug Dylan's preference lacking you go curly was saving on that's really well done really well done, but I don't. It's good to hear your voice. I hope you do.

I hope you're safe up there on the mountain. I hope are talking about football sometime soon. Thanks for doing this. You don't. That is a CAD Doug Dillon and we are the radio home for Appalachian State football
