Welcome to The Daily Platform from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. The school was founded in 1927. The evangelist Dr. Bob Jones Senior's intent was to make a school where Christ would be the center of everything, so he established daily chapel services today.

That tradition continues with fervent biblical preaching from the University Chapel platform today will be hearing a chapel message from Rand humble director of the wilds of New England Christian After the message will hear an interview with Rand about Christian camping which was taken from Dr. Pettit's podcast highest potential. First, here's the message entitled, what will you be remembered for from Psalm 100, so Psalm 103 need to run to row quickly fact that I think I met many of you already know what let's see how well we can do by saying that together ready make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands serve the Lord with gladness. Come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God. It is he that hath made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise be thankful unto him, and bless his name for the Lord is good.

His mercy is everlasting and his truth endures to all generations. Can your life be characterize by singing in gladness and joy. What will your roommates remember about you, but we're friends here at college. Remember value. I don't have teachers in here but what we what you teachers what will your students remember about you I can walk through my educational experience to remind myself what I remembered kindergarten I was one of those kids would listen once and still after two weeks they sent me home. I flunked kindergarten. I'm sorry never got to go back first grade teacher's name was Mrs. Young. She was at least 140 years old. I don't know why they call it that third grade I had my mouth washed out with soap because her teacher's name was Mrs. Brader but I did teach the others in the real name was Brader potato today.

Mrs. Thomas taught us how to read right before recess, she would.

She took Emily sitting straight, and she would read from us from Gulliver's travels and was almost like you Gulliver are not Lilliputian's borderline seventh grade.

Her name was Miss Oliveras. She was 22 I was 12 I knew it would work for such a crush high school. She taught chorus and I did. I joined the chorus just so I could stare at her now appear in public high school chorus that means is like 273 voices voices have not changed okay and we sang a song shine also wrestled in high school now walking on homing as a going glamour glamour so that was it ninth grade. His name was Mr. Rockledge. He thanked me and when I say something that along paddle. This is many years ago. Obviously, and I got spanked like before lunch for running down the hall did I get spanked right after lunch for have my shirttail out and then at 245, right before dismissal school. I got spanked 1/3 time.

By the same teacher in the same day for running down the hall with my shirttail out Mrs. White Knight in 10th grade was a typing teacher on how she did this and she walked around with a ruler. One of the metal edge were not allowed to look down at your hand. You just type like this if you will she come out like your hands without number about typing a letter grade. His name was Mr. Spain, geometry and trade, but I do remember limiting testing. Last I kidding, he would literally reach out sticking his mouth wash it off and stick it back in college and teacher named Mr. Pahoa and he he would share a blessing it was math class, finish your blessing from second Kings writing rope and is welded on a wolf and I can get like a blessing from second is that's amazing all 40 years of my time here Bob Jones all eight semesters. There was one Bible teacher that his name was Jesse Boyd.

This guy a man of conviction. He had convictions about stuff the like wasn't even in the Bible. Nobody was a man of conviction. I love discourses and I took him in under you get that Lou Gehrig's disease and went to be with the Lord.

If I remember I was talking to his wife and she said something like great before he want to be a home and he was in the hospital bed and she just got them kinda comfortable in his room stuff and she walked over to leave the room just turned look at a and Jesse Wood was a big man, slow moving but when she looked over at him he went like this, and he died that. Why did I tell you all the stories, what will you be remembered for Christian could I be described by someone who is known for the joyfulness. The gladness their singing joyful noise rule shall gladness and sin could some bright shining in the faces joy that can only be seen through your countenance singing as written, and it literally means to what it means okay in the Hebrew so what is it mean to be characterize by singing enjoy. It is an un-inhibited expression of the light in what God has done me say again I expression of delight and what God has done for you. I know where the pressure finances and classes in cloven pressures at home when we were some of the guilt of our sin and our selfishness. But still, we are forgiven we should have joy.

Why two reasons why should I be characterize by joyfulness, gladness, and singing.

Look at verse three. Know ye that the Lord his God. It is he that hath made us and not we ourselves, why should I be characterize by joyfulness singing gladness number one because God made me say together because God made me like a hear you but you have messed on this okay God made me know I'm not smart.

Okay, but I do know how to Google if you know how to Google you can really look smart. The world in which we live is truly amazing to wondrous place and defies evolutionary explanation is home to a cheetah Kathy can run 70 miles an hour insects. I can sleep for 17 years straight and eight Martin King shooting octopus that can eat their own arms and grow new ones, guys, you never have to carry lunch. I'm hungry. There will the bombardier beetle is a tiny little insight on defense system, whenever threatened by enemy attack and spirited little beetle blessing sitting in odious gases into the face of the aggressor in 212°F. The beetle makes us explosive by mixing together two very dangerous chemicals. He has an inhibitor which prevents the chemicals from blowing up and enables beetle to store the chemical indefinitely.

When attacked this tiny little beetle at precisely the right time adds an anti-inhibitor which knocks out the inhibitor increase in violent explosion in the face of the bartender that she believes in evolution to know years would take this little guy to get the timing right knee seasonally blow himself up okay the seas saw the lives along the seacoast. Within the titles owner thinks primarily and see an enemies see an enemies are equipped with thousands of small stinging cells which explode at the slightest touch, plunging poison harpoons into the would-be intruders. The intruders paralyzed drawn into the and then the stomach to be digested. Although this is an impressive defense system. The remarkable sea slug is nevertheless able to eat the see an enemy without being stung exploding things are digesting that the undigested existing cells are swept along two tubes connected in stomach and end up in pouches the stinging cells arranged and stored in these pouches abuse for the sea slug's defense. So whenever the sea slug is attacked and defends itself by using the stinging cells would feel faint and then we manufacture parental protection guys.

If God did this for a bun in the slot.

Just think what he's done for us.

He made you this is a big-time paraphrase of Psalm 139 but died when into his workshop and he made you he did he got all the chromosomes and by the way, did you hear with one chromosome said to the other chromosome do these jeans make me look fat and what did he got all the stuff together, the color of your eyes, and the texture of your hair, your ability to sing your ability, your hands or delete God made you just and that we stand in front of a mirror and we complain to the God of gods that he did make us tall enough or short enough or thin enough or talented enough he made to the way he wanted to make you impact those that you can have a direct connectivity to tell him about your wonderful guy you are you because God made you that way then you have this precious enjoy of knowing that you can live with him forever. So why should I be characterize by joyfulness, gladness, and singing number one because God made me number two because God save me, say with me because God save me. Remember that day like you are overwhelmed with your own wickedness you knew you were sinner. He knew God was a holy God totally separate from sin cried out to him for forgiveness. While I have the privilege of the camp director seeing God do this this past here when I found out from the state medical as well as New England down. I cried.

I got really ticked up. Beyoncé really got mad and then I just figured it there to change it night at Madigan so you really did get upset. So what we did is we thought the stink him to the kids so we had 12 day camp rallies all over New England Pennsylvania over 1200 showed up with these things. Okay we got up and we start out below in a room serious things like if my nose is running money honey and blow it all on new Enloe Orange Blossom special and then we went to the famous cat in the hat game okay that many of you played just before we did were all sitting on bucket 60 department to Boston on buckets and I think I should go and play really cool game here but this rally reminds me of another one time in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The way the night came, is there is like 456 buses they would in downtown they brought all these kids back who would never hardly also never been to church and they're all under this 10 and the people leaving a cane meets at red we can get them quiet, they won't listen to Henry and Mike when I supposed to do. They suggest do what you do. I set out to go so I walked up and goes to sentences sinuses act like a chicken sinuses act like a cow in a moment, sinuses act like your mom. I should've said that because these are unsaved kids and the cursing and started pulling her with it was finished.

Simon says I send them the whole time I say Lord help me. I don't want to say and these are like rough grouper kids and then when they all said that they could take a quick story about a guy heard about recently is imprisoned for murder. They start to quiet and and it was accepted day capital put the day he was can be executed and the guard came to the prison door and kicked it openly looking to get out here free system mock me. The guard said. I'm not mocking you your free you should die your murder your thief, but there's there's some guy out there named Jesus and any they chose him to take your place to die for you and I wonder if Barabbas walked out of that prison shaken his head thinking who is this Jesus and the Bible tells us that no pilot release Barabbas's current Jesus included being that Barabbas actually walked out there and there in the courtyard. He sees this man with his hands tied to post his backstretch into gardens with these long whips and bring it across the back of Jesus and his blue pieces of metal and broken Shimon so forth and jerked and politically skip piece of the skin off his back and then the guy would do. From the other side. Wonder if Barabbas is staring is this man is taking my place did he watch him when they put the robe on him and then they took the crown of thorns that just in place on his head.

They beat it into his head high and they spit on this lasting wonder if Barabbas watched him all the way to cover. I have to wonder if he heard Mary Magdalena, Mary, Jesus, his mother cry if he heard the centurion say truly this is the son of God. I don't know why look to those kids nice. I do know this I do know that Jesus died for Barabbas because he was considering Jesus never sinned, and every single one of us that night. Right now every one of us could take the name Barabbas the Jesus died for us.

I will say I think was eight or 10 of those kids through their hands up to one to trust Christ that night.

You don't enjoy.

It is to get to share the gospel like that. God save me Turner trust take. Put your hands out. I hope it put them every put them out.

I hope you turned repented from your sin. Admit that your center I hope you're trusting that Jesus is the son of God died for you, was buried, and rose again then take your hands rain that you take him you take him as your personal savior.

This is a wonderful thing. Look what he says in verse three we are his people all in the sheep of his pasture. That phrase we are his people and so special to me and I got time I get to you real quick. I was raised by my grandparents lived in the real difficult difficult home. My grandma's shoes. Wonderful. She's a Polish woman only about 411 both ways and and she was just wonderful. She lived to be 97 or 98 and and and when she got in her 80s. Hermine going in to the nursing home and ton Kenneth Pennsylvania when I drive through at all stops, he or she was strong physically. She put her arm through mine to march with me. I think I met you doing, she smiled since his life is but a dream said they a pretty good food here. Life is but a dream one time when I was there. She had a new boyfriend that he's a lot younger he's like 92 or something, but they would walk around you and and I said I mentioned in the life is but a dream did not what I could say or what I would say she say life is been very then we got in the lobby. My son was something I said Josh Stan piano playing one of her favorite songs. So she started he started played amazing grace and isolate up she struggled like this, like she was the one playing noncitizen. We got decigram integrated and she said, life is but a dream, said Josh pay her all-time favorite song, how great thou art dumps it there. I have her hands on. Not a good singer but I started singing as he played O Lord my God, and all the sudden guy. She said she did she started singing with me every single word all the way through the first verse chorus.

By this time I'm sorry I'm trying to say was, and she looked at me and she said, life is but a dream so I know that's a long row row your boat. I like this song better and she said so do I because it has more of God in decigram she said, life is but a dream only saw one more time before she went off into eternity. By this time she sat in a wheelchair would just stare not talk took hands and I remember looking into her eyes because I love this. She brings me okay when my folks split apart and mom left and she took care of me and I'm looking serious is likely condemned tunnels a time and all of a sudden she got real frantic and start shaking. She took her hand away from mine and she said your my people. I was special to her and she was special to me.

Christian God says your my why should I be characterized would enjoy singing gladness God made me God save me hello expresses verse four and into his gates with said out loud into his courts with said praise be thankful one to him, bless his name. Thank God for your salvation every single day walk to the dining hall of your letter going driving, no singing Jesus into never ever ever stop thinking God for saving verse five the Lord is good he really is eating the difficulties that you face.

He would use them to help you to help somebody else. Someday, the God of all comfort comforts us in our tribulation, we can comfort others with the same comfort were comfort of God's mercy is everlasting so I can get to heaven that will now I know I'm what you really didn't know his mercy is forever and forever and forever in his truth endures all so asking what we are friends remember about you you grabber complainer always down life hurt. Yes, the world broken. Yes, it's got good he made you a safe this time. In October you're pressured with everything you've done, but is nothing compared to what you have to do yet to get through until Thanksgiving that you can make it okay.

You will so at least do it with a smile and thankful heart because of what is going to walk out. This building was smile singing gladness. I hope so.

God bless you. You are dismissed you been listening to a sermon preached at Bob Jones University by Rand Hummel from Psalm 100 many of you may not be aware that Dr. Pettit has a podcast entitled highest potential which explore stories of how Bob Jones University empowers young people to reach their highest potential for God's glory. The excerpt will hear today is an interview with Rand Hummel who is working Christian camps for over 40 years, Dr. Pettit and Rand will be discussing Christian camps during covert, 19 I want our people to listen to really grasp the value of camping to talk to us about that. Yeah well, especially in our covert world today.

If you think about the kids are kind of stuck in the house and from the computer screen or iPad. They don't get to be with her friends, and are very lonely day and that's why this past summer, all the emails and the techs how much they miss camp is huge because party getting them away from the normals of life and just getting to a place ALL over the United States and is wonderful Christian camps.

I think you have maybe over 50 that normally come here every fall. Get students to go on work form and on their all great places because were getting them to a place we have a controlled environment extended exposure. The word of God and then obvious extended exposure to dedicated allies what we call the counselors and people say what makes up a good camp while honestly I can say it's not the property and you can have no key property and a not so funny fun time and just okay food you got you got counselors really love the kids really love God and you have a speaker that so loves God and uses his word. You have great we can camp your doctor. He taught us, you could have a good camp in the church parking lot and remembered saying that nice.

It was like seven property was the blinds and waterfalls and all that and then this last summer when the New England they close this down and in New Hampshire and within literally within 24 hours.

My step sibling to go to the kids that and we set up 12 day camps a churches form in Pennsylvania. The other 826 states of New England over 1200 kids show. I saw Sandy many trusted Christ in church parking lots. Now they get some Orange Blossom special and if my nose is running money and 5 pounds opossum and we preach twice to them. I had pizza the first second third fourth fifth. We did have hotdogs a six rally okay and then all the rest repeats again so I'm put enough pizza little bit now but just to be with these kids and and they were so excited just for us to be there and show that we we really care and so camping is a part where we just kinda come in if you know one noted on the sheepdog K pastors and shepherds.

The other sheep and then as a sheepdog.

I can buy did the heels and bark and push him back to the shepherd back to the local church and at the same time showing them how excited that we are about God's word and trying to kinda infuse and plant seeds into their heart that they would love the word of God. Well, I you and I both you know you been a Director for many years I was a camp director up in northern Wisconsin and the. The impact of camping on the lives of Christian young people is just absolutely undeniable and hundreds and hundreds of young people who been saved in their in their lives been transformed to that concentration of God's word in one week is it's unbelievable. So do you see this is do you see that this is what people still want for the future, all according to what were seeing a bow through fundraising through letters. I think if we open camp today if we could, number one, the kids want to come number two the parents. They need a break from the kids to send in for a couple weeks and work were seeing that's I trust next summer, 20, 21, would again for all her camps because United States be one of the greatest summers will have and we trust God to do that if he doesn't return that the doors will be opened up in the regulations are such that we can at four weeks the camp yeah the kids we do thing called daily meditations. This is a five-minute Bible study walk into a book of the Bible for teens. Anybody can subscribe to a good rentable.com subscribe to it and I I do you know how many right now are doing that daily because they just love a touch of that memory of being with her Christian friends and being encouraged by the word of God and if even those listen, if you think how many people you know or maybe yourself that actually made a life changing decision that account, it is it it it it's huge it in their lives. We know historically revival has always started among young people and the course one most likely places for that. Take places in a in a Christian camp.

I've seen it happen over my ministry and I remember back in the early 90 some unusual things happen with not just a handful, but literally hundreds of teenagers getting saved in their lives been transforming those people are in ministry today you been listening to part of Dr. Pettit's interview with Rand Hummel, director of the wilds of New England.
