Welcome to the Christian Car Guy radio show. The cop show dedicated to helping Christians binds all cars by the book, not the blue book knobby orange book, but by God's book, the Bible called the Christie car guy with your questions.

18663421 866-34-TRUTH 7884 is being a Christian have to do with buying a car you're about to find out is your host Robbie Gilmore well good morning and I'm not Robbie Gilmore.

Robbie is why this weekend on the men's retreat they think his heart boot camp in rings, Christian camp, and I know you have a great weekend. I think Bob the junkyard man is with them also and I'm sure they have an a wonderful weekend, but in the meantime, I'm Jerry Mathis, the Christian body shop got a raise body shop and wrecker service sit and then in on this side of the desk down for Robbie and this morning.

Also I have a special guest alone, friend friend of mine for many many years and a staple in the towing industry source will go talk about this more and a lot of the stuff in the towing industry and safety in picking the towing company and just the changing industry in itself, and I wanted to see him just a moment, but also want to give a special welcome back to feel on the other side of the glass I'm looking at been a long time since he's been back. Good having back in the in the studio this morning and working with us, but with us.

Also, this morning is Junior rentals and only Junior take a moment to introduce himself and little bit about his background and what is involved in these days morning everybody and I appreciate your asked me come on board this morning to explain to you about some towing issues that you probably never heard about or have not had an interest you. I come from a 73 year established business but it started in 1941 and the he was one of the first holders emphasized Winston-Salem area have to go in the admit that the first store that I can remember in South County was fridge motor company and we were the second one and Fritz is still here. My company is no longer here due to fact that was will sell the property to the State Department and retire my business and retirement sale and we just moved on, but I have had a calling to still continue to be an industry rep stating that he was saying wrecker's Association Police Department and that we do all the towing for them, along with the customer totals for each company. This represented. Thanks again Jerry for me be a part of the empire that that job you have at present, the wrecker Association is the legal aspect of it, you know there's a lot of lot of negotiating that goes on a lot of representation that has to go alone and just a lot of mediation that has gone is that correct exactly and know one thing. Being part of the Israel arm of the loan were where on scene to an accident that you may be involved in you heavy represented along along with our companies that is perform the service for you that you are treated fairly in your charge for the services performed and helping you establish what's involved in an accident after the accident and if you go back as you mention him in a Reynolds was in in the business for many many years and then I thought kind of neat.

Whenever anybody goes back all the NASCAR fans you see any of the old old black-and-white photos from over at Bowman Gray Stadium here in Winston-Salem. Usually there have a wrecker over there and it has Reynolds garage down the side of it and what was not the member.

One of the record records and was like jeeps with the boom on the back ethic to separate your data. What happened on that issue right there would've jeeps came into play is this Monday is always been an inventor and smart businessman and at the time that he get his first record was right after World War II and he went to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and he only had one record any work the the stadium, the NASCAR mean that the race is over there and he would have to leave go to please call or do a customer call and that would leave the race.

Unattended in the car would be there only trading that make some guy waited moving so then decided that the MOU G. He took a deep over there, and 90% of the time.

He could either push the car after that the accident off the track or hook a chain to it and pull it off the track so that lady is that tow truck become available.

If it was neither was at Ray straight what was needed elsewhere. The Jeep was there to suffice for the truck not been there in one of the things when I was a wrap up with appraisal by the black book open talk little bit about in this is that heritage in the legacy that your dad left behind is the fact that in the towing industry in the garage industry. The junkyard industry member. One thing your dad never you never say junkyard desert recycled are used auto parts and get fight Matt over that junkyard stuff, but I'm is the fact that he also used as a platform to share the gospel of Jesus Christ is going talk little bit about that and come back to but this morning also.

One of things I liked to spend little time talking about is the fact that those tow truck operators.

Sometimes our heroes mean the job that they are doing is a dangerous job and they're coming to the rescue of people when there in a pretty bad situation. Sometimes it is sort of overlooked in this morning them. Also, Manasses is a call-in show.

If you've got a story of a wrecker driver RR tow company coming to your rescue it like to call in and and tell us about it, and shared and that may be an encouragement to some of the towing industry or somebody who just needs to know how that driver represented Jesus Christ give us a call and a number here is 866-348-7884. Once again, 866-348-7884 and on. Think about so many stories and stuff from the that the times of somebody calling a parent and I know I've had many of these calls where a child is locked inside of a car and there's times when it's sent cold weather warm weather and engineers probably had had many of those over the years where the child is just old enough to reach over and somehow another hit the button. Our art are pushed down on the lever to lock the vehicle up with the keys inside of it and in appearing on the outside front figure how to get inside that that vehicle we've had that happen, but were the most interesting was Jerry is.

We had a That got on the console car, locked the door. Why was at a filling station and when we try to get in in the Army and the dues were using. The cat was smacking them and grab little so it had to fight it To get the door unlocked but kids they can be a problem. The this accident are locked the door and they don't know how to unlock because I don't know how they like it.

That is some interesting stories out there about cars being logged and how they happen now and also you the stories that you that you will get in and in you here throughout that note just nationally and stuff where a wrecker driver came out and came upon the scene and had to you. Note, not even knowing that another occupant was in a vehicle in heaven to help with the rescue of getting that person out or somebody who's who runs off the road in their cars died or are no longer is able to run and being rigid temperature and staff in the driver coming there with a used cell phone to call and came to also really were not only was it recovering the correct car damaged vehicle but is also recovering her at an individual in distress and does those things happen every day in and is sort of like overlooked and a lot of times when we are talking the towing industry unit was always getting the negative stuff nobody really realizes you know that the situation that those drivers put himself into, and then as I'm going off that us wanted just just mention a few things. One thing is that the move over law Junior been in the business for all these years.

Do you really think that drivers out there on the highway considered a tow truck that they'll know they need to move over for the law enforcement vehicle, but do you see that there is a problem as far as the towing industry goes with that operators at on the side of the road I see a big problem or jury. Love tiles we are on the interstate are 2 Lane Rd. and we see a tow truck there working with regard to be recovered or towed in. We just looked on as another entity of business versus an entity of the law enforcement were were forced to move over for unless if we don't we all pay a penalty, but one thing about it tow truck on is the fact that we were at an accident scene. Most of the time we have the protection of the police from Highway Patrol service department and you do move over, but if we are out there alone. Our emphasis is recovering that vehicle to transport it and were not paying attention to the highway because were loading the car we weave a short essay for off the highway but were loading the vehicle and were moving around that vehicle both left right side of the front and back so our eyes are not consciously watching traffic were watching what were doing particular cargo so that's what we run into so move over low benefits us so much more. There is a wood law enforcement. All right, we have John on the landing since John is a tow truck operator at a Louisville Kentucky.

Is that correct or Louisville, Kentucky morning, good morning John how don't you hold on one mom who just wanted a break here that music. It means we gotta cut away for just a moment you'll stay on the line will be right back with you all right hero John who just a moment once again as a reminder that this is a call-in show, 86634878841 hear your story how tow truck operator may have been a hero in your life or just pure tow truck operator like John to be able to hear how you pot became the rescue of somebody else and also an option for us to say thank you for what you do all right, John, back to you. Good morning. I will locked doors all day and all night and wanted Christian provider look at it that way people will global and you really are not all that well so I regard lockout appreciated. Also appreciate the fact that you do use it as an opportunity to be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because God puts people in our path and sometimes we don't understand who it is and and and why they put in their bed most of the time we step back, we see how God gave us opportunity to that did to be a work for him not just unlock car but also that to be a worker for the kingdom of God. All right once again have a great day and be careful and we certainly appreciate your and as we were talking a moment ago about that. The move over law.

I mean there's a lot of things that that people just don't realize the importance of that because those drivers and those operators on the side of the road and there there putting himself in a pretty dangerous situation and has had a few figures. I pulled up this morning and I want to mention a couple names John: via was killed when he was hit by a car while he is changing the tire on the side of the road and not Ricardo Valdes hit and killed when he was hooking up a vehicle on the side of I 77 and Morton Barden killed when he was working as seen in an intersection and that Highway Patrol even had the car out in the intersection, block, and so we could wince the car up in a car came through sped through hit the patrol car and hit him and killed him.

And you know these are guys I got up that morning and there's there's many many more who were who also had deal with the situation and the families have to deal with it with a got up and it was just that an average morning there taken a call date they had an accident scene or it flat tire or gas or what ever it may be, and then all the sudden their life completely changed because of people not paying attention on the highways and also to the Department of Labor, a stat that really sort of stood out to me between 2003 in 2013. 50 tow truck operators were killed on the side of the road when doing their job. I mean you, that's kind of an eye-opening figurative to me and what's your thought on that, but it's it's it's it's an awful fact after facing even here in Winston-Salem several years ago we headed South Creek Park when you're 40. We had a company of the act will center trucking here to transport a vehicle off of the Interstate 40 in South Creek and as he ramped up to rollback this vehicle early hours of the morning vehicle coming down 40 was captivated by the whites people you need to realize a lot of these rotating are you like systems that Police Department Highway Patrol and the tow trucks have all top. If you look at those lights. You'll notice they draw your attention and if it takes that attention away from the highway that only takes a second to have a massive ending to a fact here that we don't need to have, but we had a young driver keeled on Interstate 40, not knowing whether it was the delights that they want us just a factor we can put in this, but would've helped if the driver had moved over possibly will save that drivers like you know even even getting to the scene sometimes and this is something where our drivers will call in and you know the that that the Police Department law enforcement is trying to find out an ETA when that vehicle when that when the tow truck or the records and to get on the scene and their 2 miles from the accident scene or a mile from the accident scene and trying to work their way through traffic and they've got the beacon lights own and in all that and people will will pull in front of them or try to block him. Hector dog I guess you just don't realize that they're stuck in traffic and they're not going anywhere until that truck gets up and moves that vehicle so they can get through, but they'll set there and I mean I've seen that time and time again where our drivers will say, you know, can you get police officers to I can see his lights but he sent to get these people to move, they won't move over for me to get up there and else that they don't realize as long as that truck is sitting behind them and not at that saying they're going to be stuck in traffic unit was just just a respect thing and an import of it is you know I think it's just that that thought of what people the old thought of what a tow truck driver was a many good people have it in her mind and just this grubby old trucks and grubby old guys and really don't care what they're doing either. The industry is changed tremendously over the years. If you go on the website Christian Car Guy.com you'll see seven ways to pick a towing company and an all of those wilderness were to walk away down juniors on to contribute on this.

Also, than in at the number one thing if you like to go to the website you see the whole list and stopped with the number one thing with everything we talk about so many times what is talking about getting the vehicle repaired unibody repair mechanical repair purchasing the vehicle anything related to a vehicle. We sometimes forget about this aspect of the number one thing to do is to pray, pray about it and you know if that means you know if you know you're going to need that service was or what ever may be in your Sunday school class in a pray about it and ask for references, and in that type of thing in and and where other people have had dealings in an and try to see where that may lead you in step with the prayer so import if you're on the side of the road and broke down. I mean one thing to do is be praying that God is on to keep you safe and everybody and Bob to come and help you and stuff and although the people of his in accident are are okay and stuff, take a moment just is just to say a prayer you think what you thought Junior well yeah anything that's like the issue is a prayer needed thing we we need guidance in the things we do each step we take every daily of her life and what we do is we don't go into a bar and say fells I'm here and I would like for you to pray for me and she was going on. We don't do what we do go to our fellowship are churches there would pray and will get if all I will be right back and once again, if you got zero stories give us a call and remember as always, pray pray pray as number one will look the other six things you need to do be back in a moment Christian Car Guy radio and welcome back to the Christian Car Guy radio show again this morning.

You have with you. Jerry Matheson raise body shop and wrecker service Christian body shop guy with me this morning is Junior rentals present Winston-Salem side County wrecker Association and normally present of Reynolds garage and towing and used auto parts and then all of the above. We were going down the list and the first thing were talking about how to pick a towing company when you're needing one. And sometimes you know is you don't have the opportunity is pretty quick. We have to make a decision for good on his list.

Am also going to go back and say enough said this multiple times. The best thing you can do no matter where you're at in this country is to have a cord or something in the glove box of all your vehicles of who you going to have tow your car and there's multiple reasons for that one thing hopefully somebody you're familiar with it will be somebody who geographically is closer to your home and you won't be towing a vehicle all the way on the other side of the county and also to be someone who works with you and Steph if you've have a vehicle this in an accident and in the towing company happens to be a body shop. You know that it can go there and stay you not to have the burden of having to get it towed again because a lot of companies, insurance companies don't want to pay for that second towed so I've that it even when my daughter went off to college and I've said this multiple times to one the first things I did.

I went up to Lynchburg Liberty University and found a body shop that was on the outskirts of the campus and that became the contact that I use over the last four years. If she had any kind of a problem. She knew she would go there… Introduce myself to him.

Told him I was in the body shop business in Winston-Salem and in all that stuff and it's really just been not been a help because it had to use their services and or lease their referrals a couple of times with him about referrals goes back to number two on picking up the towing industry number two says, ask your mechanic or a body shop asked them who they would use and who they would suggest because it goes back to it. Those people will know who's able to tell a vehicle without damaging it has the insurance and that type of thing because those are the people in industry seem to have a little bit of a better insight on the way to get something done properly are are having a less chance of something going wrong, you not only just a body shop or the mechanic but also as your parts supplier they got the gas station where you get gas or anything like that. You have any thing else ignited that Junior well it first in the burden that they say that if you have an actual yearly within 2025 Molly Ho that that's where you want your car relocate to.

If you have an exit. It and I know when you have an accident that investment you have. It may be sitting there damaged or torn up but is still your investment and it needs be protected further than just to get ups and all regular multimedia junkyard know may be repaired or what you want to do is what Jerry suggested find someone that you can trust that you know is ensuring that you know that this respect will come in your community. Close your home that can respond to this because let me assure you, if you have an accident you are nobody beside yourself. You will not know what to do, what to think about have that in the glove box of a business card or have it already, so that you will know what to do in case that moment comes and then you know another quick thing you can do and that you come by. The Winston-Salem side County northern Davidson County market by raise body shop wrecker service.

We have a a little older that you put in the glove box that has a accident scene report and also step-by-step what you need to do and also check with some of the shops in your area. If you're in California or Utah or Florida or Pennsylvania Charlotte. What ever it is just check around and see most of a minute somebody that you are are going to deal with. They can give you simply can't put in the glove box and that'll make it easier because of his if it's us is me and where we will were also frazzled. We have an accident but also our wives and our kids is really a tough situation so have that what makes it easier and then the number three thing is look at the trucks see what kind of vehicles they have and you know over the years the tow truck has certainly changed what that truck looks like we used to be at always be the truck with the boom on the back. But now with the complex vehicles and stuff you know there's very few vehicles you will be able to toe with the boom so you know you need a will lift at the you know, at the very least, and there's a probably more than half the vehicles. It's hard even toe with the wheel if they need to go on a roll back so you know what you think about what he had to add to that that the vehicles in the changing of the. The vehicles now. Well, one thing I was dressier is the projection that currently puts out central claim that truck meet is it presentable to the public is way up our coal and instead of the crate jury little bit of not to make him upset. But instead of the is not to truck drivers any longer. I guess it's vehicle recovery, and transportation specialists because here's were given into the trucks we need to know what investment you have that your driving and you need to know what to tell us when we asked a question is a four-wheel-drive all-wheel drive to get to that in mom's gone very far and how it was at is an important case. I will then will go back to the trucks. The cleanness of the drug and the. The operator that drug that it is presentable and that you know you'll be happy.

Number four is we sit and we look at that the drivers look like a professional. Does he look like he knows what he's doing as he presented himself. Leo, I mean it's all just clean and and and you know most of the time, a clean-cut driver is going to be somebody also cares about keeping your car in that same condition, so don't don't belittle the fact of the driver does play a part of it now so that the peers of the trucks and then that number five common manners. They understand or they listen to what you say I mean is that a company that's polite and staff and be sit there and five and six sort of run together where it's also having being courteous and stuff you know last thing I wanted my daughter needs it truck to come out and jump starter are or recover a vehicle is the guy come out and start using language and and and slang and and just be in you know very unprofessional. For one thing, I think that that operator owes that respect to that to that customer. But there's a lot out there that haven't balled into that would you're out they would look at this way.

Maybe if you have a good driver professional operator out there on the same answer that call. One thing that's going be very important to you and to his company is that he's a good listener. He's done this a thousand times, but he's never done it for you and your accident you get in your car. You need to be some work. He's going to listen versus a I'm into this before I can tell you about this.

I got this the gap that the a good, courteous and professional person that that is great manners cleanness and in order to survive cleanness next to godliness.

That's another plus force in their first number one was prayer so we during those two together where where energy on the right track, helping them make a good choice and then number seven is a find somebody you can ask. I mean if you're in this market, or even if you have a question with toe and everything you can go to the Christian car guy.com webpage and has asked an expert. There's a bunch of experts you go down to my name Jerry Mathis to body shop guy and if you have a question with the towing industry. Having your car towed or anything like that or if you need a car towed some questions that you may want to do pre-toe or post towed questions that you may have. Feel free to give me a call or drop me an email or if you have questions with the body repair dealing with your insurance company or anything like that.

Go ahead and just drop me an email or give me a call and his other experts you got Bob, the Christian junkyard body shop junkyard guy there you got bill makes an insurance agent got plenty of resources Robbie Gilmore who's a wealth and we just just full of all kind of information. The staff use that website to try to get some answers questioned some questions answered. Also, as we sit there were down that there's a couple things that you is the individual, the customer need to make sure that you know about your vehicle and Junior mentioned this just a little bit but you know it's important that you know.

Do you have a a four-wheel-drive or 2 Will Dr. vehicle. Do you have a vehicle that's been lowered where all the sudden you know, used to have a 7 inch clearance underneath that thing and you chop this brings down and lower that thing is 2 inches off the ground on me now that kind of stuff makes a difference. What kind of locks to have power locks, you have airbag, side airbags in the doors and stepped another thing that people will forget about a normal combat Junior see what he has to add to this, but also, have you already had somebody try to do a service for you because that also is that big difference because there is lot of people will come by and see you blocked your course in the in the in your vehicle and they got the close hang around in there trying to help you out. They knock rods off the tour rubbers up in all the steps let them know that you've already had somebody else try to provide that service. It helps the towing industry you agree with Adrian. Agree OR lick it is a good move to get well acquainted with your core know exactly how to answer? If you have potential to do something with that professional etc. know what's happened when we come back with and talk a little bit about what do we do when we want to realize that I part of our profession is: by Jesus Christ and is given a specific event of little bit about the great commission for each and every one of us.

Welcome back to the Christian car guy radio show once again.

Glad to have you this morning about the towing industry and then the changing industry and in those heroes that are co-truck operators because sometimes I think there that the forgotten heroes.

So many times on on the test of a having that that danger, they put himself into owner on a daily basis. Every time they crawl into that truck and then go out to an accident scene or a recovery. Your flat tire gas whatever jumpstart they really don't know what they're getting themselves into because of every situation is different, every, every, every call.

There can be things that you just don't expect happening that can happen there and and his were talking about that one of the things that that they need to be prepared to do is to be able to give a great service and and that goes that's a twofold thing is the responsibility by the by the company for who they send out there and also his responsibility. Make sure you get good service by the individual. The customers make sure they got plenty of information and that type of thing which we talked about one of the other things that this morning.

I wanted to share aspects with having Junior with me this morning because I know that how much I know the faith of his dad and how much that was part of his company was was the fact that they felt like his dad thought that was a platform he had to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and that to let people know of his his belief in him in God and the true Lord and Savior and also made me think back about a few years ago I had the opportunity to go to Hendersonville at that that Joe Gibbs racing shop for a seminar with the pay company that was there and it was probably I would say 7580 paint representatives. I was sort of a fish out of water as far as all that goes. I was just that presenting local shops and stuff but it was you know that place is really top-notch.

I mean you walk in and it's like you know your your three inner issue is just amazing is not what you think going into the race shop I used to be on me now with the polished floors and everything just everything in place and so pristine and thus that that that the eating area that reception area. The meeting rooms everything was just something you would expect to see the Hyatt house or something but I'm the second day there.

Everybody was excited because Joe Gibbs is on the come in and do what I thought would be his normal that you hear all the time. The corporate speech. Thank you for investing in us and blah blah blah kind of stuff, but he certainly surprised me. Has this huge auditorium with surroundsound and it probably seats hundred and 50 people. 200 people in their bishops real plush and and gorgeous and stuff but that morning Joe Gibbs walks across to the platform the stage up there and there's a quick thank you to the corporate sponsors and the money they've invested. But then he goes into what surprised me and and and I'll never forget this. He gave his testimony and that Jesus Christ had guided him and directed him and when he was in the coach of the Washington Redskins. How important that was that he always knew that that was a platform to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ and then when the racing opportunities open. He knew that that was a gift from God and part of that responsibility by him accepting it was to make sure that he share the gospel of Jesus Christ and gave his testimony.

That's a huge part of his business. If you watch after ricin this past week. They ended up winning a race in a camera went down on the pit road and he had the team gathered around and was doing a prayer and stuff to me that was just so powerful in any closed with one statement that once he said once I forget that Jesus Christ gave me this platform than I expected to take it from me and to me that was just just a huge statement and as I sit there and think about that or go back to it through the great commission in Matthew 28 where it says that Jesus came to them and said all authority in heaven and earth is been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations. Babbitt, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end. It took me to mature to really get the grasp of that it wasn't God didn't say I want to see in you that I'm just sending some people to be preachers and that's their job. It says to each and every one of us.

He's gave us that opportunity when it says to go with necessarily mean we have to go to a foreign land or or go across the United States had to leave and go to to California or Oregon or Utah or wherever it may be some times where he sends us is in our own home is is in the hall down is walking down the hall and opened the next bedroom and Sharon Jesus Christ was somebody in your family, it may be your neighbor.

Or maybe somebody at school and maybe somebody you're working with you. As John mentioned the caller earlier the tow truck operator out of Kentucky when he said that also is the opportunity you go into what you can pray with people there there and in a time of need and you're able to share your faith with them is what God calls us to do and I think in in in in our business.

You note for so many years I had a hard time of understanding that God is on a provide and equip. I mean, I know that I had this tugged at to go. You note go on a mission field, and I really struggle with that because I thought Ray's body shop and wrecker service. There's no way in the world they can operate with me out of this country. I thought there's no way in the world Palmdale Christian church was operate with me out of this country will God reset up there laughing because of he certainly didn't need me and I was able to go and I've been gone for seven or eight years to Jamaica on a mission trip it's been a means been a life-changing thing of been able to do it with my daughter and watched her grow and see how she is coming just just absolutely a special person when it comes to dealing with that kind of stuff, but also when it comes to just being at work and stuff and and and with our employees and stop is to be able to be that example to share our faith with the M people who come to the door. Most of the time when they come through the door is in a crisis situation that had an accident. Their vehicles tore up but you able to slow down and share your faith with them. We have the literature out there stuff, but part of it is unit is one place you go into that has it sitting on the counter, but you not living by that that's not the way your your your conducting business and I think it's just so important that you make sure you that you realize that Jesus gave you that opportunity that your mission field. If it's in Kentucky unlocking cars if it's in Winston-Salem doing body repair and paint repair and towing vehicles. If it's in Utah working at that Air Force Base or the 7-Eleven or whatever it may be, God gave us a mission field and under this part of what was excited about having junior because I knew that was that.

That that was your dad's concept of of doing doing business that was part of his business. He committees and talking about Jesus and if you like it or not and if you left mad that he's in tell you about is you going out the door and tell you he loves you, and it'd make any difference. That was that was his mission field directly and copies of the new that one of the avenues to get to that family was through the child and he would asked him what he go church where we don't go would tell him well I do the Aris at my church and have young man's glass. I'd be glad figure send up on the Sunday morning my sons are with me and would be glad to mature scream. Hope and it became a tradition that he had ever listed kids to go pick up in one of the treats that morning there was a not sure if you're familiar with the place. Go stay in the vehicle.
