Welcome to the Christian Car Guy radio show. The cop show dedicated to helping Christians buy and sell cars by the book the blue book. Now the orange book led by God's book, the Bible called the Christie car guy would you requested is 1866 34 truth. That's one 866-34-TRUTH 7884. Does being a Christian have to do with buying a car you're about to find out.

Here's your host Robbie Gilmore. Oh I am so excited about today show, the magic of favorite.

Let me explain, you're probably wondering what in the world. Robbie is the magic of favorite well I just hope that while I'm telling a story that she'll go back in your own memory banks and recall for you. For me, your hand-me-down car experience. Perhaps because maybe you know your dad.

You had a car that was handed down from other family member. Maybe your dad helped you turn the beater into a beauty and that's kind of the things I'm talking about, but way back if I go way back in 1971 when you could get a driver's license at 14, in New Mexico. My father happened at that time to be the American motors dealer in Albuquerque and being a son of a cardio you would expect me to get the coolest AMEX or at least a very nice new car but no given my sister in 1961 Rambler American a few years earlier and if you ever solid as you never forget it. Who this was. Nobody's idea of a cool car. It was a four-door upside down bathtub.

It really was.

It was a pale gray. It had three speed manual transmission on the column which we call them that day back your members Bob three on the tree and my sister had affectionately named this card and my father was going to make you he was a khaki person make me such a deal that if I would work all summer washing cars. Every day I could earn a dollar a day. Now, here you go there's a wage and after 100 days of summer. Guess what I had Bob hundred dollars to buy this car, but somehow or another the magic of favorite place on me as I wash every single car every car that I would wash Andy's appearance miraculously started look better and better and better and by the end of the summer. I'm telling. I was in love with that car and I to this day. If I see a 61 Rambler American.

My heart just jumps out of my chest, almost because I mean I love that car that look is so unique and that's only one kind of thing that was my first car and it's but II really I call it the power of favorite. So with all that said, when did the magic of favorite play out in your life. I mean, tell us about that hand-me-down car. That situation started out did look so good. But the more you drew on the next thing you know it was your favorite, you can get it on your mind. 866-34-TRUTH 87884. I truly believe your story really started to think about right now. What you think about call me with that one would be magic to everyone's day. I'm telling you how God take something and any gets it into your heart and it becomes beautiful, 866-348-7884 in here to help us out this morning we have a very special appearance from a Christian junkyard guy Bob Young and Bobby got you got a little bit of one of these stories, it just happened with your with your son recently really day we headed out as 10 delivery truck in the it'd become, then read where they did have a little smoke to little rattle here in the door got a little saggy on it and everything in the it had a few issues and it'd become ineligible for longer trips delivering parts and everything, but I discounted said it to the side and everything in the Rob situation. It got where the check they had drove for years he had them made a trade with a gal in it and I no longer had it and I let him drive this 10 which is in no way a beautiful trip because it just been just war slap at this in no everything on it needed to know a little thinks are a lot of fakes are in the it was a slow four-cylinder not a lot of power anything but great for delivering parts and in its earlier days and but that was the vehicle. Rob was driving at the at the end of his life in the so everybody knows that no part comes off of that truck in that the you know dad may have a little special something in mind for that track down the red little place, but the it would be my vehicle that turned from my really just an a very very very average list sub average vehicle that that really now has a very dear place in my heart.

Garrett went from a beater to a beauty. And certainly it's one of Bob's favorites and we'd love to hear your story, 866-348-7884 in a course. It is the first Saturday of the month so we got there, Jesus labor love folks went talk about and on track with Annie coming up at the bottom of the organ here latest NASCAR news from a Christian's perspective and then at the end of the shown appraisal by the real black book.

That's where we search the Bible for hidden treasure cried for the sermon, lift up your voice for understanding the magic of favorite. I'm always amazed at how my eyes are affected by my own favorites for example, my wife is by far and away, and I'm telling you in my eyes. She's the prettiest woman I've ever seen. Sometimes it is. Look at her face ago wow how could she, like me, beautiful. I feel you better. I literarily my kids. I don't know what it is but my kids are just better looking. I'm telling you been in my wife.

She holds babies she takes her babies were living. She tells me all the time. I look at these babies under one thing is good-looking as my kids and my granddaughter all my soul.

I'm telling you my granddaughter, even my dog just happened to have a really good what you know my dog is the best looking, it's a hairless Jack Russell terrier so you have to see it to appreciate it, but that's in my mind it's gorgeous in the course. Old red. My 1995 Dodge Dakota is absolutely gorgeous.

I'm pretty fun to read myself and I couldn't. I couldn't imagine a prettier truck but here's where I'm going with this.

The opening passage of Isaiah 61, which Jesus quoted in the synagogue at Nazareth, he said it was fulfilled in the hearing of the people he was listening to it. He said to them that he was declaring this the year of the Lord's favor interesting.

This passage from me does a great job of helping me understand both the magic of favorite but also a deeper understanding of grace and I get to share both of those coming up at the end of the show in how this all kind of ties together united. One is that the image shown appraisal by the real black book. Now this is a live show and we want to hear from you. When did your hand-me-down become a beautiful beater or how did that work out in your life.

866-34-TRUTH 87884 we have Sandra, who's in Louisville, Kentucky. She's got a car she's in a tells about Sandra non-Christian partnership problem right. I like the look here, I cannot coming on back office. I said a moment ago around 45 miles in our family take the car. I a little afraid of take it back, but not like I don't have anybody repair-your father died and you might be wrong. Afraid if I don't have a great idea to wind up taking a nap. He carried shopping have like 90 completely Sandra and I minute you know this is a great example of a lot of people face when I find a good mechanic who can I find someone to work on my car real well in the course of written several articles on the subject that is interesting thing the course. Like all things in life that asked Jesus to come help us with this, which you know I appreciate Johnson to Christian radio and and obviously you're doing that are requested Sunday schools. Always a good one, but it is interesting thing that most heart stores today Advance Auto Parts in the bigger name franchise parts places. They have a computer that they can plug right into your Buick Century and tell you the codes that are causing that light come on because a nice thing is when that light comes on. It sets a code and is probably an oxygen sensor does listen to what you're saying but I'm not certain by no means am I diagnosing that what I'm saying is if you take it to a parts place. It's amazing thing parts. People tend to know where the good mechanics arts, like nurses can tell you which of the better doctors because part of the approval parts. People know which mechanics are always bringing back the parts because it didn't fix the problem right then that when they it's an amazing thing parts. People, wherever they are, especially in an Apple Store can snap of stores normally supply the repair shops around and select a parts guide an Apple Store quite often can tell you a better mechanic in your town for your kind of car because they know which guys work on Buicks in which guys work on Chevrolets and all those kind of things so that's one way that I'm thinking that you could get some help is is go to one of those kind of places have them to check it and give you the code and then they can recommend for you, possibly, where would be a great mechanic now. We got so much Christian card I show coming up for you. Stay tuned.

What was your beater that became beautiful.

We want to hear your story. 866-34-TRUTH 87884 we got a really cool soundbite you can hear from a lady nine-year-old Rachel and her car chariot suspicion so much Christian progressive sale in the download rule with just you and with you can go as you with me in the backseat man memories them. It's hard to believe there are no more Oldsmobiles left out of the it's older than the late 40s while the song may have been even older than that. The sad news is we don't have Oldsmobiles anymore, but was a little bit what were talking about.

I've got a fee when did the magic of favorite play out in your life when was it that you took that hand-me-down car that's that. Whatever it was, it didn't look too good when it started out but the more you have, the more he grew on you and the next thing you know it was absolutely a treasure. How does that play out 866-34-TRUTH 87884 866-34-TRUTH that we do have this wonderful wonderful soundbite which illustrates a very important point that we want to make the show today what happens when your car becomes your favorite. You can literally save. I estimate this lady were in here from a second nearly 1/2 $1 million over the 40 year she's had this car solicitous listening on one of my poster children Christian card. I shall by the league much this whole video it Christian car guy.com this is Rachel in chariot just magnetic stuff. This is chariot and this is Rachel. They been together 43 years. Chariot has lasted much longer than any of Rachel's three husbands like Rachel is 89 chariot is a 1965 Mark Green, I have thereafter. Rachel is the original owner and is put every one of the over 540,000 miles on chariot's original engine, should you pay for any and all next Paris carrying automatic engine air conditioning like a proud parent. She's documented every milestone every birthday.

This is chariot's 30th birthday party and every checkup is 6000 mile check up $13 gasket. Rachel knew early on the cheek.

Keep chariot for a long time. So whenever possible. She bought parts with lifetime warranties lifetime seven shocks and Sears had three sets. This is lifetime guaranteed battery and pennies and campaigns for fast on pet sitting 16 free batteries.

Rachel takes her in for service. She never leaves or even for a moment there, I stand by my car.

Finally, and I see this diagram of how many places there are has to be removed for you that you have educated mechanic back in the driveway. Rachel polishes her pride, joy, and is always ready for an impromptu class and auto mechanic that's that's the power steering.

Now this is a conditioner for cruise control.

Have you ever thought about what would happen if the chariot dies. I think selling and burying my mother but that's many years and many miles down the road. Rachel and chariot have traveled more than half a million miles together, to the moon and back, and both are still running strong.

Bob to me that such an illustration of what we talk about on the show all the time. But if you'll take care of her car. It will last as long as you do in the untold really hundreds of thousands of dollars it would save you if you just were able to keep your current car like old red which I don't have as many miles is chariot has on it. But old red does in fact that you now have 356,000 miles on it and I plan on being there. I mean it in and there.

Something happens is that car becomes your favorite. It also is saving a lot of what you can understand that if you know when you're going into the game plan to keep the car Bob and you buy lifetime battery.

You know this is can save you gobs and gobs and gobs of money not really recommended if you're planning on trade next month. The that's pretty awesome. Her whole story is Desta.

It just leaves you in the you know so many people would never think like that. Well I'll have it for a while, but she needs.

She is going to have it forever and ever in an made the proper arrangements for MM mirrors the power of favorite that is, your car becomes your favorite as you name it. You take care of it.

You baby at all those things then more and more.

Guess what happens. That car becomes something that that obviously if you look in Rachel's life itself was part of her family. Oh, it's definitely part of her family is not almost adding she might get rid of a child or to which you don't want things to become a idle I do understand that that that that that I've had Rachel on my show, my mother sent me that video. Years ago and and I've used it time and again. And I even use it. Incompetent, sometimes less because it's such an illustration of what were talking about and I had Rachel on the show when I had Jerry of our Christian body shop guy. The day I had her on the show we are talking to her and that when you look at the video. If you go to Christian car guy.com and look at the baddest original paint on that call and we are like how in the world you live in Florida and it was lack about how the world you keep that paint all these years and she goes well.

I wash it every week with kerosene and do not do this at home.

Folks do not wash your car kerosene that even if his lacquer, but because even one spark in a way she goes but she had washed his car and kerosene all these years and it protected against that Florida salt and in that whole thing in there that obviously would shine Bob. I still can't quite grasp that concept. I just wonder how she came up with that idea Jerry looked at me and I would do it well, you know, a lot of farmers would you know why things down and kerosene in order to protect them and apparently she came from that upbringing. I don't know what I know is that obviously you there is this paint and it's been there since 19 and only you go so well.

We got a Rachel or chariot maybe got a story like that. We would love to hear we got on track with Andy coming up with the bottom of the hour and were so glad you joined in his calls with your story. 866-34-TRUTH 87884 the magic of favorite and she knows is cars and I put those in their special for you so you could when they're stealing the show, you know they're still in it with the math.

Hey, I just walked in there to do this in the studio today and I never know what I'm going to come and it's a gift to give me a smile to say the least. Well, we are so blessed to have on track with Andy actually in the studio today course, he's got his guest on the phone for us. But today show is you know the magic of favorite and and before we get into your desk and he was telling us about it is the magic of favorite that played out with him in a Nissan pickup truck. Tell me again about the cardboard in the seat that was magic.

When I was young and poor, how I'll start out by saying KI think I had distracted. It was an 84 Dotson was duly called Dotson remember that Leah and and is a 2 Wheel Dr. extended cab pickup that was rusty from one end to the other and I was traveling in traveling sales at that time. Okay and I honestly the springs were coming up so hard to the driver seat.

I had to have a piece of cardboard over top of that I keep from poking me in the butt and then I had an old real estate sign that I kinda folded around inside the left front fender well to keep the snow and ice from government through their in the end, the last part of it was that had no radio. Those boomboxes are used to carry around her shoulder. I had one of those Thai strapped underneath the back window, hanging down with. According to the cigarette lighter to plug that thing is a great American classic.

I will bet yeah right.

If you see one of those going down the road you got my car you and far between.

Right now our favorite well I know you got one of your favorite ministries when your favorite guys there at the racetrack not doing amazing stuff.

When we got Dell on the phone with this welcome Dell good to have you on the Christian Car Guy ship here as well so listen Robbie. Robbie just mentioned. For those you just turn it in here for our on track of everything and I'm actually in the studio today.

Not in Texas where I would like to be with my good friend Bill, but Dell does a lot to help out different ministries and one of the things what will talk about the second is Finnish winter and something else.

It's happening but yesterday since I was not there. Dell was gracious enough to fill in and the host. Some pastors that we had that had won some promos for us down there so what happened yesterday down there anyway.

How how the day go to God track with their wide open right now looking for an exciting time and I think they got it because they just couldn't thank you you nice enough for the hospitality. You can tell that that had an experience that had a long long I saw during the chapel service you have a special guest there didn't you shoot your bad with names but he's a really popular comedian alone or probably can guess her super popular American Bible challenge on TV right now Mark Lowery know even bigger name of that have Jeff Foxworthy was well little bit yesterday was track this weekend is that the commander week here.

You know there's can't go far. If you're around the Robinsons without part of it and Chris Jeff was there in the chapel service and Lonnie cannot bear I bought today what like a Baptist.

Well, did you say somebody's amazing that my class reunion two years ago one of my friends appraise me and says that US that allows it against his Jeff Foxworthy said we may need to teach using your material from high school really yeah so anyway so yes or no was built was gracious enough in life that he does love you have no idea how much ministry stuff.

Delicately he's involved with everything from raceway ministries to our ministry with energize and hosting the pastors 202 military ministry covers all the bases, but that today Dell we've talked several times about Finnish winter on the show but so far this year. I don't think we've had a Finnish winter director guest on which which would be used. So tell us a little bit about what Finnish winter is about in the different purposes that that it serves well and had a board member and founder all the time you and maybe folks don't know that, but Andy helped found Finnish winter years ago and think. Thank you for that and I get the opportunity to take that banner across the country in and see some exciting things going with. We've Artie had two great events this year. Watch the Daytona and then out at the Fontana, one of the musicians that change regularly in the chapel services Richard Andrews hosted us at his church here in California. What an event we had 300 people packed into the room. The church auditorium there, which is in a business plan. You know on the storefront churches and that we just had a great time we had 59 folks walk the all except Christ that might result. While it was it was amazing. That's is one of the best events we have, but tell the other part of that which made that so unique and really I give you a lot of credit for is helping to develop some of these young drivers and younger you know guys are younger and the faith to be able to share and still is like that.

That's another part of the purpose of the tell us, when we started with. Even with Michael McDowell and some of the others to who else is involved with this now your situation and the sponsor NASCAR garage and when you're, you're not a person that has funds that are happy to go around the garage and you get attention very going to say that pursuers and got all of the young drivers and teams are looking for fonts to be able to operate so you have a I personally have wrote to the NASCAR community that little bit different than if the minister walked in today. Let me know.

Let me work with you guys are somebody from the outside so I'm part of the community and because of that, I got the opportunity to develop relationships with the drivers.

Some have driven opportunities without been involved in driven directly for me and one I sponsor on a regular basis, and so and and but but what happened was years ago the split, five, six years ago we we did our first event and Randy McDonald, Michael McDowell got it back invited come up and do our first and I got the opportunity to pick him up at the airport and drive an hour up to the church to take you to the church and that's where I got to know Michael McDowell's heart for the Lord and boy latte just turned me upside down. When I got here his testimony and hear his desire to serve serve God, but since that time Michael has become the spiritual leader of a majority of these young drivers and they have Bible studies at his home.

They have Bible studies and the followers.

Randy Randy Donnell with Andy. I got to close the first few Bible studies that that first year or so and and another started with. Now they have about 15 or 20 of the driver to show up on Saturday mornings at 7 AM have a Bible study and then go out beat each other up on the track.

It's not much to track race in there sometime is involved in staff.

I would love that sometime to hear Jim Vaughn box with a story that you know it's little to meet Andy as I listen to the hole in my note telling you and all that but see what you're doing through energize ministries which is praying for pastors looking out for our pastors. You see, you connect those pastors with an opportunity for this unique adventure right is we all have 1/2 adventure. You can imagine this pastor coming down and because of Dell's connections actually being in the pits throwing tires over the wall. I mean these guys hearts are coming alive and part of the adventure and really feel like wow this spiritual battle I'm in is can it be fun. At times it's it's absolutely adventure and it's also a perspective and this is what's so important for you when our pastors get to see this and get inspired to share that that's where our heart is right is is keeping our pastors and our ministry leaders inspired, encouraged and invigorated, but that but you're right Robbie on May the adventure part of it brings guys alive and delegates to see that bills a huge part of it and it helpful it was trying to get us a minute ago was just sharing how some of these drivers have that a chance to know what they been growing in their faith there, to live with them when they get a chance to share publicly that it solidifies her faith and it really helps them grow and so Dell's been such a huge part of that and I'm glad that we appreciate you being on with this. We got our appraisal by the real black book. We got more of all this magic of favorite stencil yet time for you to call 866-34-TRUTH 87884 tell us that you think you will be a slave to nothing when you see through your father's eyes. That's an amazing thing. The power the magic of favorite.

When did you have this car. It was sentences like Randy was talking about. It was a beater but then it became a beauty. What is your story. We'd love to hear from you. 866-34-TRUTH 87884. Yes Bob, what awesome awesome awesome thing meet Nandi for the first time it was this a bit on the radio within Betty's never been here at same time I was. It was just such a thrill. What a beautiful daughter he has with them, but you can hear people on the radio but when you can actually look into this man's eyes you can see the fire, this burning inside of there and it was this really really become on your favorites. I can see that Alea and I have Johnny's standby with his favorite stories to you.

You will be encouraged to call with years.

He's our producer were gonna Johnny had a favorite car when you're tells the story when I was a kid. Yeah, bite my parents bought I guess a couple new cars within about a year each other back when I was real small in 1984 to 1985 but the one that I remember the best one. I guess not the best book was a 1984 ford escort hatchback manual transmission and that car was fantastic. I room the thing I love that car and I wanted that card to be the car that I got when I turned 16, but they got rid of that one think I decided instead.

I know only also said all the difficulties that we got after our appraisal by the real black book. That's where we search the Bible for treasure crowd out for discerning the magic of favorite and I'm always amazed at how my eyes were affected by my favorites. I mentioned this in the beginning of the show.

My wife is by far and away the prettiest woman I've ever seen my kids. Of course there are the most beautiful my granddaughter well while yet is in and I know Andy's daughter would you say Bob that that in Annie's mind there is no pretty little girl than the one that we just met and even my dog you know or might my truck out there old red in in in Bob talk about Rob's truck well there's there's there's there's something I'm thinking I would love to share here that I it's been on my heart really for about two weeks in the opening passage of Isaiah. When Jesus quotes that in the synagogue in Nazareth. He's he saying, these last these are the words where he stops, he says he was declaring the year of the Lord's favor and see what I discovered in the in the Old Testament right there.

The year of the Lord's favor that word favor is the Old Testament word for grace and I started thinking about that one and and when he said that know what you know in the book back in the book of Genesis that Noah walked in favor and then remember Jesus walked in favor with Manny God. And then I start seen in the New Testament is favor, and the more I started seeing grace and favor all of a sudden I realize what Jesus was declaring Bob he's declaring this is the year that Bob's his favorite year. Robbie's his favorite and just like I look at that at my dog and I see this most beautiful animal ever through those eyes see those rise of grace and when he looks at you, Bob. He sees you through these eyes like when you're looking at your wife and I got a text message from a very dear friend at a very crucial time when I was need a little uplift and it would it said you are God's favor and at that time. It really was necessary.

Much needed the uplift for me and it was the very cool uplift and it's great to know that it's it's hard to even fathom the fact that we could be God's favor that the MMA it's an amazing thing. He did it for his own son.

The father did when he was baptized he came up out of the water and said this is my 11th son in whom I am well pleased. Again he saying this is my favorite and in the cool thing is when he declares this is the year that this is the year that you're his favorite just insert your name. I'm telling you right now this is your Johnny's is favorite.

This is your Annie's favorite.

But here's how this plays back when you put it in another term when if you think about this and so the other day I had this guy was really struggling with getting along with them and I was in a lot of meetings with about a lot of different things and every time I looked at him honestly. He ground on minor getting to me. I felt like it was going to say something that would be appropriate. It really wasn't anything he was doing, but he was just annoying and the morons around in the more annoyed I did and I was just Lord. Can you help me I'm just feeling so annoyed with you is just driving me crazy. I'm afraid I must say some is not right because he hadn't really done and also in the Lord put my mind make them your favorite make them your favorite I start.

What if this guy was my son.

I look at the sky. What if I made in my favorite and I began to really concentrate on making this guy my favorite. I changed my direction. I repented I would like let me think about this guy is a point, like if you were my son and you know what happened. Bob the guy got better looking. It was amazing, the smile that was on his face. I started later I was like why looking much better looking.

He is in. I was around them a great deal after that event. Over the last couple weeks and every time I see him now.

He's my favorite perspective rather and I realized what this is grace. This is kinda what were talking about what were thinking about grace. We got Deanna in Louisville. She's been hanging on force Deanna you're on the Robbie's, non-Christian car guy if you got a story for us to blacked out out under car training and knowing your corners, allowed to fast out and have a seatbelt put in. I wouldn't fly my favorite car was that 1960 6F 85 does originally became the countless acts of prey. You are like them.

I can think about 12 years, but the way I got it management, charts, and a car lot that I don't care what the card is as long as it's red and fellow man would trade in every two years and take good care of it. So that's I got my F 85 and 1966 S. Leveille and so when you heard the did you hear the Mary Oldsmobile song we played the first birth I get that now we play to just receive go back to Christian Car Guy.com was the podcast as we played the whole mobile song and I you know how cool that you would've that you would call in and tells about your F 85 and you're exactly right. That was the predecessor to the cutlass which made Oldsmobile what it became. And then unfortunately 75 at Monte Carlo like broad dad yelled out Angleton card. It was a gorgeous, 71 Monte Carlo. That's amazing stuff. Will God bless you. I appreciate you counting so much today and we appreciate all our callers. We appreciate you. Bob is great to have you always course, one of my favorites on declaring that Bob's my favorite right now that it was great to be here today in once again really awesome to meet Andy and his doubter in the I just think if we leave right now. Andy we can make it to the track, but we certainly want to mention, since it's a Jesus labor love free car repair labor.

That's the labor only for single moms widows in crisis. So were making those are favorites and are favorites or a leg leg rias mechanical and Wahlberg bills auto clinic. Ivan Dole is Randall's entire pros in Greensboro and raise body shop all helped out with a Jesus labor love this. We can go to Christian Car Guy.com. Find out all about those. Thank you for listening to Christian Car Guy. You're my favorite
