What does being a Christian have to do with buying a car you're about to find out is your host Robbie Gilmore. Recently my friend Greg Rogers was Romans 836 body shop shared with me this parable of the spoon and maybe you know the parable of the stranger fixed. If you haven't, the more I thought about it the more I became aware of a problem that's inside. Many of us that makes this parable so much deeper than you may think at first. And so if you're not familiar with this parable on the go ahead and tell you goes like this, a holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and he said, Lord, I would like to know what heaven and hell are like in the Lord led the holy man to two doors in the open. One of the doors and the holy man looked in the middle the room was a large round table in the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the man's want mouth water by my mouth water and already menacing. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly and they appeared famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they couldn't get the spoons back in the mouse. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering, and the Lord said, you have seen him and they went to the next room and open the door. It was exactly the same as the first. There was a large round table and there was a large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth watering in its mellow and precious. It was awesome and people were equipped with the same long handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump and laughing and talking in the holy man said.

I don't understand it. Simple said the Lord. It requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other at the more I thought about this picture of the more I perceived a difficulty not so easily recognize.

I believe it's common and joyful for Christians to want to feed others. The challenge I think is allowing yourself to be fed and here's the story that that comes to my mind back in 1996 I was finishing my last chemotherapy treatment for lymphoma and right after that mean we're gonna celebrate my last chemotherapy treatment. We went on the Jeep jamboree and you may know the story that I was at the back of the Jeep. The man until for me, let his got out of his Jeep didn't set the emergency brake. His Jeep came down the hill and crushed me between the two cars I got my right leg up on the bumper but not in time for the left leg and it was almost severed, and as a result, I was in a wheelchair for some time and as I found myself helpless on many levels humbled, no doubt in many ways, but God used that to teach me this particular lesson.

You see my Sunday school class came one weekend and here they came, Al Qaeda would a nano kind of stuff. Next thing I know they were building a wheelchair ramp is they'd heard that I was having the slide on my derrière up the stairs with this great big huge long cast in order to get upstairs my house from the garage and then heard about that. So they came out there and then to build this wheelchair and I was a baby Christian at times extremely humbling and I rolled myself over the Sunday school teacher. My cam and I said you know I still understand why you guys are doing all this, I've never done anything like this for anybody my life. I feel so ashamed that I've never helped anybody like this in here. You guys are doing this and he said probably you have no idea what a joy is able to help you some we live for, but most people won't let us help them and when they won't let us help them.

They rob us of the blessed with that sink in for when did you need help and you failed to let somebody else have a blessing, or perhaps even God. You know when when did that happen in your life. I would love to hear the story of when maybe somebody did come to your aid that glorified God, or maybe when you try to go it alone and you ended up as shark bait who ha ha 866-34-TRUTH 87884 866-34-TRUTH and because I don't like to go it alone.

I have my good friend Jerry here with raised body shop and and Jerry. This is a common thing when it comes to cars people wanted do it on their own right. Yeah, you know, sometimes you you think that's the right thing to do and then you know in in out our personal walk in dealing with situations is that you know what seat people out and seek people to give you guidance and counsel specially in note with vehicles you can you can save you big bucks hand and keep you from getting into a crisis because of trying to do something yourself then the same thing. It is as a store, you just shared. Sometimes we we miss those opportunities one we miss opportunities God puts in front of us to serve someone so many times because we thank you know what I still want to interfere out of one of buddy and admit that's not what in August. Keep keep a distance and I'll pray form then also we are in need. Sometimes we missed opportunities of blessing somebody else by by sharing a plus what it brings to the person it served and then also the one who received it. I mean you know God has a way of ministering to us in in in ways we never expect how cool is it when you get to find out that God loves you and you see it through the actions of another, and so we would love for you to share that with us. In this flock, and so we as Christians often need to honk so we don't end up like the baby seal that shown in the picture.

What a story and yesterday morning Jerry had an appointment at 830 and she called me because when she got there, they won't exactly hurt shoes shots I got it with the right personal and stuff and I saw in that we treat broadcasting.

I said, guys. We this is the lady we need to pray and so we we are praying that God would make a way for her to get this wheel bearing whatever she needed because we didn't have the resources really to provide and she called me about 1130 and she was on cloud nine and we all got the hormone because of the hormone right now does to know that maybe you pray for the Jesus labor law program at times, and God come through for these folks and she called me and she says Robbie I am so excited. I have a job interview on Monday that now I'm in a be able to go to because Bill help me out. It just turned out my transmission was low on fluid. They said yeah that's a leak is to be fixed at some point in time, but right now you're okay and and and they were able to put in heat provided the fluid and this ladies on the road and you know asked about her son started school in the fight and he was starting and it was just one of those things that you hear your heart goes out and then God shows up and how cool is that you know the stories like that in an weakened we take for granted so much. I mean in life. I'm, you know, I'm just a simple thing.

I mean to be only that was a service he provided.

Nobody changed it could have changed her life. You know drastically in her son's life and Stefan and you know we have people coming and it did that Jesus labor of love and just people off the street and then that's what you this morning. Love to hear those kind of stories where you note how many times you wrote all rolled up on that somebody with a flat tire just needn't gas that somebody is stopped in and either you been the one to receive the help or you want to give the help that's just simple things that we do that can make a huge impact in people's lives and Stefan and you know what do the calling of this Christian Car Guy radio so you know you look at it through the car aspect demeanor so many times that we can just give us service or or provide a little bit of encouragement or some help. They can deftly change people's lives and it doesn't take a lot of work now and I saw this thing on Twitter this week that actually encourage me greatly was a picture and it showed.

This had been an over and actually just given this lady with no shoes a pair of sandals and it said you may think you want to change the world, but maybe you can only help one person and by that one person you change their world and so EEE you know that's kind of the picture, but for them, you change the world as it comes with two sides to it. Not only do you be willing to offer it but it's I think more difficult to ask for help that it is to receive it and to be humble enough to say you know I can't do this alone, and often it did it. That's the real issue that you know that you and also we have responsibilities as a set as humans, you know, whenever we are in those those neat situations. I'm just last weekend and a perfect example.

This we had a a woman's car that was towed in by the. The Highway Patrol will she was right at I just happen to be there owner Sunday afternoon getting my stuff ready for for Monday and when the driver brought it in and a motel yet. I was to the pie was helping all I could, but when I continue got cast and stuff.

I ended up it's time for me to leave and not answer stand outside your ride came because you know they were there is a point there that the did she just had to say in his time for me to just distance myself from that which you note she needed help and somebody was willing to give her help, but because of her mindset that her demeanor, she was in a position to receive it, and quite often. That is simply pride in them and I see it in and in myself because I'm a man. I guess a lot more with men than I do with women, and so I decided this morning I want to go you know I get a lot of requests for help before you buy a car or whatever and I went to my email to see how many of these came from women and how many came from in and I think I got the 13 of the women missed the first commandment that asked for help. So we got some people call in and out with a story or maybe need some help.

I am a guy so very impressed. You have right now for one another volume here right now but we think it truck question. I looked out across all truck owned Ranger way back in the 80s but I'm going to the Dakota because of the body style but I get the engine and transmission is probably more important, I need your advice as to what model is preferable only if two or $3000 spent like the one that was good on Man has to you have Rob may not know this but I need to share that my pride and joy is a 1995 Dodge to code with a 2.5 L four-cylinder and a straight drop and it has 364,000 miles on it. It is affectionately referred to as old red and it gets 24 miles a gallon on a regular basis and on the highway.

Sometimes it'll get 28 or 29 and so buddy can I drive it like the Christian Car Guy slower than the speed limit and all those kind of things but in my mind they built that same set up with a five-speed clear up to say until 2007 or some but if you can find anything 9697 9899. The four-cylinder five-speed from my standpoint. Wow.

And the nice thing about those trucks. Pastor is that they are usually inexpensive because a lot of people can't drive straight drive but that's that's the ones that get good gas mileage and I will also point out that I am only on the second clutch in that truck three and 65,000 miles and the only reason that I put the first question is because we have Internet anyway and and sell this the fact that you people that we want to straight drive. You need to clutch every hundred thousand miles not on that truck. This clutch has over 260,000 miles on the clutch you know you get it and robbing the greater don't disagree with me but I think that that life of a clutches.

I read and I could not agree more that it's it's great to be common people because you get to see things that only, and and and and I think that's just awesome and you know what I have found Mary II used to work for United Way I've ever worked for several charitable organizations over over long period of time that is common knowledge amongst most people that raise funds from charities that the poor people give a lot more than the rich people and their much and and and I think that goes along with what Abraham Lincoln knew that the the folks that have little sometimes are just way more generous and and I can remember going into hospitals and the janitors would give more than the doctors. By the way, Jerry. That was one awesome sermon and Internet sermon Adrian Rogers talked about a passage amount have in front of me where it said God called poor people specifically that you know he loves poor people that they work.

They have a special calling on their life at and even other something about that. That is really reassuring for those of us in the poor, like all that but you know I certainly have my stroke. You know it and I think is Patrick Morley, heard something one time or are this session. I was going through. And he made a statement that that was so profound he said you know what people who have money at a disadvantage of those that don't have money. He said the ones that don't have money are are are always having the hope that monies in a buy them happiness. Those that have money don't have that hope because they know that money didn't buy them happiness, and I thought you know what you think about that. That's so true, and blessed are the caring spirit of the trip which there's a lot to all data granted granted money can make things like little bit easier but it's you know what, if that's your only perspective. And I sure your unit is running your life that is not to bring you happiness and unit number. It's just a simple act of kindness when you see what clearly God that was a divine appointment on lots of levels one and every time I have another quick one okay store here in our door court lined up and they're all connected and you put your quarter and the little gate you don't handle in your shopping cart. It really when you get your car in the color you can't get back in your quarter is given well and now is approaching the door and gentlemen. Would you like to think you're not with the court. Why didn't you take her quarter and told her that I will need to get Blake into her life and could someone and that make me feel good to think that the teachable moment for his daughter and let me just point out how to use what you just did is I am so thankful that God urged you to call us today because accepting that cart and accepting that man's gift is huge. You did not rob him of the blessing and you didn't rob his daughter of the teaching because at that moment you are humble enough to allow somebody to give you something that you didn't have coming.

Nothing big diminishes you know what because you have heard this and and and and sing it where someone or something like that and then the responses a why did you do that is you note simple. You want to come good just say because Jesus loves you and me, that's just that's that's a powerful statement and your actions can be of powerful statement and and there's so much that Angela said in her words that the touch me, you notice how she had her eyes open to see that that lady's world was troubled and she had her head down and she could see her pop and she noticed her posture and God gave her eyes to see what was going on around her, and how often am I so caught up in whether or not I get the soup to my mouth in the in the parable is prunes that I'm not seeing the people around me and and what a blessing that that there's people like that out there, absolutely. And you know what my life sometimes I think I got the soup on my head that much I love my way to know that Sarah Wheatley get so caught up on on on our own little world that you know I think if we all took a challenge and just see the difference it can make in our lives it be easy to do it again, you'd probably challenge yourself every week to look to that opportunity that God puts in front of us and this week is your is you gone I feel we get eyes to see both things whenever I have an opportunity to be a blessing to somebody else but almost more importantly, how can I allow myself to be fed and that parable of the springs Wheatley shared at the beginning of the show if you didn't get to hear it.
