The question today on the Christian Car Guy show is what was your iconoclastic moment a great question, though, to think with your leg made the first question is what my world is in iconoclastic that's what I found out this week and when I did a whole new world of iconoclastic moments unveil themselves in their huge part of our walk or is it were a drive with Christ in reading CS Lewis. One of my cherries believes as you might imagine, is that I know where I am and I know where I'm going with this at midget lie will actually remember years ago when I first moved from Colorado to Charlotte, North Carolina, and we were looking for a fun family trip so we heard that North Carolina had this amazing zoo where all the animals were in their natural habitat of the amazing so I asked her friend aware and although I'm sure he told me Asheboro when I looked at the map of North Carolina. I focused in on – Bill will Asheville is away in the western part of the mountains of North Carolina, will Asheboro is almost dead in the center of the state almost 3 hours away from Asheville loops and not having any clue we drove the mountain road nearly 2 hours from Charlotte to Asheville and we were shocked when we got there were no signs resume and we stopped at a local convenience store and ask where is this is I know you ladies are proud of me for that one and the girl behind the counter looked into edges. You look perplexed. She thought for a moment and said you know you must mean the nature center and she gave us directions to the Western North Carolina nature center which does have a few animals and we drove over there and we're walking around and we stop back to the office of the nature center to inquire and we said the we heard that North Carolina has is fabulous zoo animals in their natural habitat. Where is that part of his honest don't think the guys are stopped laughing yet is you are in Asheville. The zoo is in Asheboro, namely that okay so God in this story now are using our new word iconoclast is in the in the story okay God is just now played the iconoclast in my life. You see, he shattered my cherished belief that I know where I am and I know what I'm doing. The big question is now what you gonna do that and at this point I wish I could tell you I took all this in stride when on enjoyed one of the most beautiful places in our state really the mountains, the Biltmore Billy Graham's training center. The Cove well that wasn't what happened.

I went back brokenhearted. My expectation was to see his zoo and I drove back to Charlotte feeling stupid, stupid, and let down unless you know but one more story. You know he's mechanic works on cars all the time and we had this lady called in from Charlotte actually.

Interestingly, this particular day and she had this Jaguar and she went on to describe how she was having this little skip in the engine and it was you know going on around shaken when it was skipping all these things and also I asked her will, ma'am, how long is it been, and she had described what year the Jaguar was noticed and so I asked her how long is it been since you changed your spark plug wires and at that point Bill played the iconoclast of my life by saying Robbie that model Jaguar doesn't have any spark plug waters loops and so yes you can now see that sometimes I have no idea what I'm talking about in fortunately in all God often allows us to see the error of our ways so that we do not have our foundation built on lies, but built on the truth. I have been reading a book by an all it's called hi from the sky to happily ever after. Because my first iconoclastic moment was I thought I knew what the title meant for him after I been reading the book.

Maybe I got into the third chapter before I realize that the hi Bob is like God, when connection waving hi it's not hi from the sky and out of the that that that that got shattered the "but then this week I was reading this story that in talked about fasting and is this story was related to me and all that was attached to it. I had a cherished belief that I understood fasting and I got it in.

In another place and CS Lewis's book he said God always has his other card in his hand that he's going to play on your but just will send you into worship that wow I didn't know he had that card and this is one of those iconoclastic moments for the good where I went. Wow I never knew that, and I'm so so I actually got Amaryllis today. I called her yesterday and said and can you tell that story is. It's one of the neatest fasting stories on all sorts of levels I've heard and and I'm hoping it will bless Samara listeners hi Rob, it will tell you I love that word iconic last week relate. I didn't really understand and he and I do, that God is love, to blast out all of our preconceived notions and we have to be careful.

It was just lovely with Jesus and one day we shall be due got a big favor and you know the whole day if seeking God and fully dead and little did we know that and I live like clean play when you write a screenplay read story. It's like he had something up and then later he paid half the length of time that I like in metastatic. That's what happened to Luanne and I decided that if that really fast and we had coffee in the morning which gets to go into and it was a modest day of praying to God being hand of of walking and talking and Jeff Fabius well promised, we separate time for the Lord and I really we thought God had said something special at the last hour we figure that out somehow we put that together so we figured that by midnight do something for us didn't know what web and dilute with not a night out like me that she began to fade while I began to fade about 11 and we were both at the point we were just killing time to get through the 12th. We had no say we were not really expecting any and and you know what Lou was half asleep on the couch. Luanne is dying of leukemia and I called her on a foundation is in Washington stated that plaintiff in California and I called her and we had our fleet goodbye. She barely talking to you than hospice and Wednesday I'm reading in the word and praying for her course she still alive that I read Hebrews 1222 through 24 just so people should read that they can Hebrews 1222 through 24. You come to Mount Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem, and even letting God thousands of angels in charge of the firstborn and all that wonderful interview.

Essentially it heaven.

So I'm on the airplane for this is Wednesday I read that and I called her sister and I said we just a little because it's such a beautiful, very thin. That was like 1030 Saturday morning okay family morning I'm in this church wedding thing and suddenly the preacher saying okay related congregation to stand up but then it was going to bring to the Lord this morning with the rounded by God's angels.

He was 1222 through 24th and I knew I knew God was telling me that she was with him and then sure enough, the next day I got home and found out that she had died in her 50s on time that I was in the airplane and got miracle the miracle of the wind and so just love to do anything. If we have eyes to see and ears to hear and heights to discern what is God and what is God that it was just how precious and he can seriously do wonders great and small, and I live typically only have a heart to believe like Peter Pan, I believe. I believe what he wants. He was to have bruised child heights restored can believe and I really I'm so grateful that you share that story but also grateful that we now have this platform because there's a lot of folks out there and we find this throughout this show that you'll hear a story like this and it really will call the call to you and experience that you have with God, and it helps verify that all I know what that many freshness. Eventually you get to what is called a stronghold, which was like a tower that they use to defend their lives and the Roman Corvus was this giant hook like thing that swung on it on a couple of posts and then it had been about 70 or 80 soldiers that would grab hold the rope so they would get a hook over behind the big stone and begin the pull down these huge rocks so you know these people that were standing behind their wall. If you see start pulling it down stole my stone that big stronghold that sits on top of those stones is it's coming down.

I mean, that's that's basically what's going on and what Spurgeon said is that the Corvus of Scripture is like that big grappling hook.

You see it's got sharp spikes in it get into the mortar that's holding those stones together that Scripture you know is already sharper than a trip sorting all that stuff and it will get in there and begin to take these these things apart so I have this last story that I wanted to share her properties moment where my wife was my iconoclast because I had an opportunity to teach the ham Sunday school class at our church many years ago, which is class about 150 people, and without even asking my wife. I immediately was just honored and I was like oh yeah, I need the TV yeah I got a chance to teach the ham Sunday school class.

How cool is that. I said yes before I rest my wife, and they immediately put it on the church bulletin that often be voted for to teach the ham Sunday school class and it was like a done deal before I even went home and told my wife what I don't. So I get home I said honey great news working to teach the ham Sunday school class and she goes, no one, not I want to teach special needs. I was like what you want to teach special needs here.

I have all this Bible and and and and she said Robbie I don't want to be in a Sunday school class. I want to be amongst people like that. This is where I want to be. I want to be with you.

I don't want you to be over there in the ham Sunday school class may be somewhere else and I wish you would go visit the special needs class of I go visit this class and its adult people with special needs and many of them didn't talk and there swinging at the air in their moaning and they're looking out the window and I'm like wow, I can't know this is really making me uncomfortable. I can't do this is this is not Robbie that you know how I got all this Bible knowledge I can.

He did share with somebody you and I had this men's group and I went to the men's group with my dilemma that my wife did not want me to teach the ham Sunday school class and that I felt like you know this is this is where I need to be in this old missionary by the name Archie Jones looks me did in the and he says he has little Scripture with and he's got a Corvus expects the Polish rock right off mind and looks at me and he says Robbie on the leased of these my brother in the moment. He said that to me. I knew exactly what it was he was talking outside.

The teacher asked me to teach the next class which was how to do the fifth commandment. Honor your father and mother and I immediately start asking God okay got out of my teach something like honor to people that don't speak how I relate this how I teach and also God revealed to me through the Holy Spirit that wow when you need a list showing honor and and so I went in and and again these folks are not talking about looking out the window and make an involuntary moment is really kinda creeped me out a mobile.

I didn't think I was doing anything and I get down on my knee and I show them what it is and I think, and nobody seems to be paying attention. I just think I've done all this for nothing till the parent showed up, and one is parent showed up that day, those kids went down on me without anybody saying anything and the tears started to come from the parents. Well, it didn't take long. The tears were coming from Robbie and God had iconoclastic me into the next trick I felt my wife and that I now realized that it is under the least of these my brother.

He had a thing you the biggest iconoclast situation I've ever been in this has to be when Rob died because of this, the saying that that was this the worst thing that could ever happen, then nothing good can ever come out of then you know it's just there was no way to recover from that that immediately I mean immediately.

God gave me strength begin to show me where he was headed with this and what he had in mind for me the plans he had lied that for my life and then I got the big opener in the big Bobby really don't know what you're talking about.
