It's anti-Bowersox here filling in for Robbie Gilmore, the regular Christian car guy on a kind of dreary, rainy Saturday morning that you been a while since I've been here filling for Robbie and I'm still trying to process all that music they had at the beginning. Robbie comes up with the stuff but anyway good to be with you here this morning to go studio full of guests and for those of you that don't remember I've not had the pleasure to speak with before I leave a ministry.

Typically when I'm not helping Rob inherently a ministry called energized ministries, which is all about providing preventive and proactive care for pastors and other ministry leaders.

This being October October's clergy appreciation month so Robbie thought it might be nice if I could fill in while he's on vacation and assure little bit about that with you said before we get to our guest want to tell you about something were doing a really cool it is October special appreciation month so our ministry every year produces what we call a pray for your pastor bus tour we traveled the country canvassing different areas creating awareness, bringing in bringing in certain programs and and and recognition and an ability to help the church at large be better or more actively reinvesting in their leadership and so so the pray for your pastor messages kinda become a banner of our ministry and this month we are taking that banner to Facebook through social media. So right now I want to give you guys a chance to get involved with.

That's the, the, pray for your pastor challenge all you guys it listen to Facebook or follow social media challenges kinda become a trendy thing to do right.

It started maybe a year or two ago with the ice bucket challenge and there's been lots of other challenges that come down the line so we want to try and create this wave of prayer. Actually, we've already started on going pretty well, but the pray for your pastor challenge it. It's three things base you are asking you to post a short prayer or a picture of a prayer or even a video of a prayer for your pastor online can be short, just maybe a popcorn prayer, one or two sentences but then you know what let that take your friends take three friends in their asked him to do the same and make sure that you use the hashtag PDF why P challenges stands for, pray for your pastor challenge. So why P FRP challenge that the hashtag will give you a chance if you guys listening now and can do that before the end of this program for anyone that does, we will send out a pastor appreciation care get to you directly to the to you to you to give as a gift of appreciation for your own pastor. So anyway, if you want to call and talk to us about that. Let us know if you done at the number here. The studio is 86634 truth 866-34-TRUTH or its 866-34-TRUTH 87884 let us know that you're taking part in the Facebook pray for your pastor challenge and would love to see your post. So next thing before you get your guest want to tell you about about an awakening event that is coming to Winston-Salem October 29. If you're in the Triad area here.

This is a citywide prayer and praise event. There are several areas that are ministries I should one of the host of this thing and so there are several areas of leadership, not just in pastors and church leadership.

But several areas of leadership we are focusing on those areas are education in the in the first responder police, fire and EMS categories are elected officials and then certainly are pastors and church leadership. We are sending out invitations all over the Triad or that would love to have you join us if you are connected to two people there that are in the serve in those areas, would love to have you come, bring them as guest and actually it's a free event for everyone, but we do want to recognize and honor them. October 29, of the awakening it's it's a prayer and praise event and then we will celebrate with a special concert at the end of that details for all of that information are on our website energized ministries.com or you can find on Facebook as well.

So Christian car guy program.

Here we are in a Robbie always brings unique gifts and so I brought some unique guest of my own here today. They are the bird family and entire birth family here Mike and Janice Berger in the studio where this along with Matthew and Nathan and Deborah talk to them in just a minute and then we also have none other than Bryce Canty Rice Kenny is a monster truck driver and then a little while to hear from him is one of the guys that you see smashing cars, jumping crazy.

You know how high they go way up in the air but anyways on television on a fairly regular basis. Probably ESPN summaries of the child. He's going to he's going to fill me in on all the details and fill you guys in, but they look for to hearing his story and right now are outward and start talking to Matthew right now that is the oldest son of the bird family and Matthew you work for an organization called feed the hunger and I want you just to share with our listeners little bit about what that is what your responsibilities are and what kind of look I think you have coming up right. Thanks Andy for inviting us on here today and I guess by extension to Robbie who don't here so anyway you like and he said I work with a organization called feed the hunger and evangelical mission organization based in Burlington, North Carolina, and we been doing ministry both in America and internationally for almost 50 years now their 50th anniversary coming up in 2018.

So our name reflects our mission statement. Though our mission is to feed spiritual and physical hunger in the need, wherever they are weeping physical hunger primarily through food packing events where you may have seen people coming together packing rice and beans and vitamins things like that into these meal packets, which are then distributed to at least five countries and several US states.

We also feed the spiritual hunger mainly through distribution of Bibles and other Christian resources in people's native languages through our partners in those countries, so it's a great the great relationship we have with a lot of our partners and that's what really allows us to to do the ministry. What when you say you fee that the fee the packets. How does that actually work with you on unfamiliar listing some of the pack funds. But how does that work and explain a little more detail how people get involved all right. Well what what happens is a group of volunteers, usually a church specific group business something like that will come together and say we want we want to help the people. So we talk back and forth, figure out how many meals there talking about what's there and what's the overall the overall budget for this project and what they'll do is people will come in and pay about 65 $68 depending on the group.

The pain is money, which covers the cost of all the food that they'll pack that day. All the shipping and all the distribution so will get a group of 5200 to 200 people just any thousand group will work and they were together for two hours and I have very high energy motivated atmosphere is a lot of music. The Lotta mother challenges a lot of fun going on and at the end we end up with these pallets of food that are ready to go on a container ship anywhere in the world really listen we have we have a car that's called in.

Sorry Carlisle we just lost in there already. So let's talk about the distribution for that Matthew. This is the Christian car guy program and we listen to try something to tie into the vehicles transportation that's that's one of the themes here. So what tell us about when you get these things packed up.

How are they actually distributed well that's up good good thing to talk about because in almost every stage of our food packing. We have to have the absolutely essential what we do different distribution.

What happens is, after these events, either money on staff or one of our partners that we work with you as a trucking company will take the food from the event back to our warehouse in Graham, North Carolina, and from there once we accumulate enough to fill a 53 foot trailer or a shipping container that container truck will come to the warehouse loaded up guys on staff to do that in that truck will go to either Miami or Norfork or different place. Depending on where in the world. It end up so it's a once it's in those countries. We have our distribution network on the ground in each displaces and you wouldn't believe the vehicles they used to deliver the stuff it's in trucks and cars and motorcycles and whatever else they that has wheels basically went when you say delivery like approximately how many meals are we talking about her I were talking the full container is 276,180.

$76,000 delivered by every type of vehicle two will spoil three wheels one will sometimes on the legs. You will hear more about we come back and also will hear from Bryce K. Driver of the monster month monster must monster truck talk you soon. Welcome back to the Christian car guy your program. My name is Andy Bowersox filling in for Robbie Gilmore today. If you're just tuning in, a leading ministry that provides preventive and proactive pastoral care and we are in the midst of a social media challenge right now. It's called the pray for your pastor challenge the hashtag for that is PF why P challenge. Would love to have you join us. It's real simple you post a short prayer a picture of a short prayer or even a video of a prayer away that you're praying for your pastor or a pastor that is near and dear to you, you mention pastor appreciation month and ask your friends to join and tag your friends and this challenge and I use the hashtag PF why P challenge. We will send out a pastor care practice to anybody that joins us while before this program is over. Just let us know and I look forward to seeing your post about that. Additionally, I want to mention before you venture a guess the awakening of prayer and praise that is coming to Winston-Salem. This is a citywide communitywide prayer and praise gathering where we will celebrate together the work of God's doing in our home city right here as well as lift our voices in prayer and petitions for leadership and variety of areas with certain with our families, our education system. In our first responder community with our government so we find details about that here@truthnetwork.com or@energizedministries.com as well and would love to see you join us for that factor.

I guess we have the Byrd family in the studio today. Just a little bit from Matthew and talk a bit with Matthew's mother right now who helps out in a very unique mask NASCAR related ministry and then and as soon as we come back from that. We are going to get to our star of the show today Mr. Rice Kenny is the driver of a monster truck was you see on television. Christian cars and making the super leaps in the air so maybe listen you have a question you ever want to talk to a real live monster truck driver and hear what it's like. Call us 866-34-TRUTH number to call in 866-34-TRUTH or 866-34-TRUTH 87884 love to hear from you and we will get you on their ask any kind of question you want about what it's like to be behind the wheel of a monster truck and will that's that's coming up soon before you get to that. Janice Byrd is a long time friend of mine I see you at the racetrack for lots of events and since we are on the Christian car guy radio program.

We want to talk about your experience and your families experience and know what it's like to use the attraction of cars and racing to help spread the gospel.

So tell us how to get involved with that and what does it look like I got involved with that. Andy Bowersox and another friend of ours Larry George is sort of I don't know back handedly introduced us to auto racing outreach racing outreach is a ministry that's probably in one of the largest mission fields in the United States. They work in campgrounds and I work on the racetrack at NASCAR events that they are thousands and thousands of people who attend NASCAR races and there are lots of people in the campgrounds every year we stop you just love the fact that you just referred to the racing community as a mission field right there. Don't know if I've ever actually heard that but that is so true you know any any weekend anywhere from 50 to 100,000 or more people gathered together and that is a significant mission fields are love and keep keep it on Greg Parkey heads the ministry of auto racing outreach will set up this weekend.

For example, he will be at Roxie Campground in Charlotte North Carolina because they're supposed to be a race tonight if Matthew hurricane Matthew cooperates. There should be one tomorrow with XFINITY that he will set up in the campground and that will provide clean Christian entertainment all weekend for the families that will provide meals with the Raceway ministries organization. They will have worship services while people are coming in and out and just you know people think less. No big deal LOL maybe it's not that last May they had somewhere 10 or 12 people who accepted Christ through that weekend prison ministries at campground.

His other ministry takes place in the fan zone, which is over, right across from the racetrack and most of these locations.

He is over there with all the big-name sponsors and all his wonderful things they have a show truck this year. It's the number 66 truck driven by Jordan Anderson with camping world series and yes I do know it's a Chevrolet Silverado. We will go and I think I don't know anything about cars and trucks that I do live in a male family anyway. He will have a place a tent set up in the fans and that there will be postcards with driver pictures on the men on the backside will have driver stats and testimonies and people will stop by just to pick up driver pictures and we hope they will get a little bit of that testimony on the back. When they take it home and read it also has the show truck there and there can be a crowd of eight or 10 people standing around when he cranks it up there hundred people within probably 30 seconds, and when you when you talk about the fan zone and I think it's great that again. I love you, love your reference to call this a mission field right here, but the fan zone for those of you that are not NASCAR fans is basically a mobile city that comes around from track to track and has if you think of cities and you think of retail components and business components and industrial components all the different sectors of of society that make up a city and and a functioning body. It all happened right there in the fan zone to the others restaurants might be a loose term, but there there's food places in there anyway and and attractions, retail attractions, there's a lot of commerce that happens there's so it's always a very busy place a lot of people and it's a great option. I seen I've seen ARO in action, or listen you guys doing your thing so will see it's a great way to interact and use any particular stories. People love to hear stories of somebody that came around some impact that you have on your life is really comes to mind for any of you guys. Nathan and Mike you guys are, sitting off in the back been quiet back there but if you have a story that comes to mind of something unique and interaction that happen while while you're there, we the earth in a campground or in the fans are not totally come back to the commercial, think about it will come back that we conducted a brief and guys, welcome back to the Christian car guy radio program. My name is Andy Bowersox I'm just host today while Robbie is out doing some fishing on vacation.

For those of you who are just now tuning again. I leading ministry provides care for pastors is called energized, we are in the midst of a social media challenge right now. This is your fantastic opportunity to join us Saturday morning it's raining right here so if you got nothing better to do outside up on your computer and shows a picture of how you are praying for your pastor's pastor appreciation month love to have you join us on this.

It's called the energized pray for your pastor challenge hashtag PF YP challenged Joseph picture a video or a quick prayer of a way that your praying for your pastor or another pastor that you were just remove overlays on your heart today to pray for, but that would love to see you do that if you can get it up before the end of the program.

We are sending out free pastor appreciation care kits. Just let us know that you've done it.

So in the studio today. We've got the bird family that's involved with different areas of automotive ministry from delivering meals, and spiritual food as well. Around the world to feed the hungry were just talking with Janice Byrd about the ARO and their outreach and then just a short quick story and then we are going to jump to Bryce Kenny driver of the monster much monster truck so just before we left. You were going give us a story involving the racetrack and how that impact people's lives.

So let's hear it right.

During the summer. Greg usually takes a couple weeks off from the racetrack and takes the truck around to different churches for a NASCAR themed vacation Bible school this past summer he was in a church for I think three nights. The first night. These two young boys walked by, and course the truck drew the man especially when he cranks it up dominate. They just came by. They were all fascinated by Senate and by the mid-Bible school the next night they came back about their cousins and the next night they came back and brought more people and by the end of the week four of the boys had been saved so is its just what they use nominees a truck to get them their use whatever means you have to get them there and then give them the gospel, and I think during the two weeks they said they had 10 children it came to Christ because of the racetrack about that make a loud noise. Much of that sin was that the psalmist was talking about. Please make a loud noise but nevertheless it's a loud noise today and actually led to some salvation, not just one time but many times and it continues to as is Greg Berkey trouser with ARO so all right guys a lot of you've been waiting to hear from Mr. Bryce Kenny are monster truck driver.

How exciting to have Bryce in the studio today and.Bryce someone I want to just tag onto that during the break we are talking about why you do what you do and you made the same, the Genesis or tell tell us why you do it and then I got a whole host a question of how you got into it and and what it's like, will think you first offer. Have a million, and this is an absolute pleasure and love to listen to Janice and Matthew talk about the stuff in and there exactly right mean, you know, one of the reasons why I've always been the racing is because of that that mission field, and it really is at the battlefield. Honestly, and not allow folks that have grown up and maybe maybe even group went going to church or in some way shape or form.

The a lot of people that that you interact with racetrack lots on safe.

They've had some type of interaction with the church and sometimes good, sometimes bad as I think there's there's that much more to overcome. A lot of times, and so the platform that comes along. Just like Janice was talking about. This is to me is unparalleled so you experience the loud noise it draws people's attention and that if you can use it and be responsible with that with that responsibly God's given you an absolute way to help further the gospel draw people closer absolutely at 100% because in their something about a two and I like to call it like to call an assault on the senses, tagline word is is not for guy radio menu to a NASCAR event go to Montezuma and go to a professional dragracing event. You know it it I like to say you the best memories that you make are when more of your senses are are affected or I like to say assaulted. Write to me if you go to a professional drag race which is my background get into that in a minute but you you go in and watch a top fuel dragster go down the track it you 10,000 hp going by you and you know you you you what you see doesn't make sense.

You know what you fear you can't be here for about two minutes after because your ears are ringing you know what you what you smell is some of the nitromethane is going by you is is is just hard to even stomach for some people and you feel something in your chest mean those top fuel cars put off on the Richter scale that that measures earthquakes. It measures a 2.0 up to a mile away. So when it goes by 1 mile radius earthquake) to moderators or that's right yes only when you feel that you don't forget you know when you doing all that while you're eating cotton candy or something LLC affect all the all the senses and that's what is so meaningful that that's no is the same for nonbelievers as this for a believer. They still get assaulted okay so you guys can't see Bryce in the studio here. He is a young guy so I look at.

How in the world did you get into the seat on one of these monster trucks that will all ask you some specific G forces and details about that a minute to give us a little bit about you mention racing in your past in order to get to that spot. So I've always been racing because my grandfather's and he started driving old cars and also bills actually on rundown airstrips in the 1960s and so for last 50+ years. My family's been involved in. He owned the dragstrip of Kentucky for number of years 2001. He bought a top fuel operation and so I started out Isaac as a clutch guy access are not clean the carless, be honest and about 15 years old, actually, let me start working on the dragster start up on the clutch out for them and I did the bottom and one point pulled full of cylinder head off for other than 18 years old he stopped driving I started driving the top your car you got to drive that for about three years. We did match races. We start a ministry doing that in a number things that we were very passionate about and and adjusted ultimately about 2011. We have a cell you think the the economic in effect till a lot of people is for sure it affected us to and so we need to sell it and I believe or not, is how cool God is, I hosted a play soccer in college as Division I athlete and I hosted a gentleman by the name of Morgan Kane Morgan Kane grew up with the gravedigger family out in Currituck, North Carolina, and long story short, 2001 he was driving and he found that we sold everything and he said Bryce you need to call this individual at Feld entertainment, which owns monster jam and you talk about them. They will date. He's the guy that puts people in truck.

I I've never been to monster jam event. Up until that point I never everything I've ever done was on asphalt. Nothing about JoJo nothing about jumping in the air. If we were in the air to dragster one day at a bad day has been there. That's a really bad day so I'll but I got called them up. Four years later day for usually call me back 2015 and they said hate know we've had yourself all his time weeds were interested in you coming to test the monster jam truck.

Are you interested.

I said wait or use yes of course you want to fly me up to to give only the world, absolutely. Of course, a mentor who would say no to that.

Well, my mother might say no that mother might say no there for that matter.

But yeah okay so go on yeah so I 2015 us did a number there. There's actually some called monster jam University believer and it it it swear we get to go up and its impact in Illinois and its own by Feld entertainment monster jam and we for a full week we go out there and learn how to drive on these monster jam trucks and we do media training.

We do all sorts of different stuff but they get us ready for that upcoming season this past year 2016 January through about May time frames are really are far our actual season and I was about my first year as a rookie dispatch that is so this is your secure come into your second season. That's right now how many people are in the monster jam arena) not not the fans but wholly different drivers are there for the destruction so Feld owns is probably about see about 100 trucks. Total Feld owns about 60 building about 400 shows in 20 countries lobby will know is that large. I did know was a large 400 monster truck shows in 20 different coach. That's right in one year. That's right. That is a big platform is a big platform that's giving you a big voice yet or use that's right yeah and and and I think about that every day and you will best things about this experience to your top fuel going away on me now was my Dale's my dream house my vision.

I still believe all Bob Bob thing will always be involved in top fuel some point.

Maybe I'll maybe I'll bring back in my life, but also all say this that going away like it did.

It was hard.

It was really hard on our family and having the cow let that go.

Let that dreams you can set that dream aside the fact that he is brought me back in motorsports in a way that I just never perceived it always tells me.

First of all he can feel God can do all kinds of crazy awesome stuff, and wherever that takes me. It'll it'll take me where he wants me to go but at the other day to.

I'm enjoying every seal, jump back up in the end of that truck for a run because I know that it can all be over at any point. Maybe he has me do something else. Also, never take it for granted.

We started to such a great reminder. We talk about. As Christians we talk about the ways that God is always at work behind the scenes of our lives right in this case is kind of an extraordinary case, still thinking of your assault on the senses term. I love it. But now here's a here's an example. You have no idea what's, not everybody that's listening. All of us in the studio. We all have stories and examples of things that only God can do right and I love these reminders.

I love the tie-in to person car guy and the motorsports aspect of us we come back when I see some technical questions.

If you have technical questions you need questions for Bryce Paulus 866-34-TRUTH 86634 truth to get into the real details the horsepower tire grip the tractor of all that sort of thing. We come back morning everyone, any Bowersox billing and guest host Robbie Gilmore, the guy is on vacation, and this being pastor appreciation month we are focusing on encouraging and supporting our pastors for a few minutes or the pray for your pastor challenge is up and alive at energized Facebook page. If you've not participated in that yet. Would love to see you post a quick prayer, a short prayer for your pastor and you can hashtag PF YP for that challenge your friends to join us. We have been in the studio this morning. Last segment we were talking to Bryce Kenny driver of the monster much monster truck so Bryce you give somebody your testimony how you got there.

How you're using this platform to to reach people in and share your testimony draw them closer to Christ through this very unique arranger that you got.

I want offer one more time if the if you have technical questions that you love to hear what it's like firsthand to be in one of these monster trucks.

You can call us right now.

866-34-TRUTH it's 866-34-TRUTH 87884 or 866-34-TRUTH so Bryce, you are you, if you came from ready a top fuel racing background. What's the horsepower. First of all the top fuel car yet top fuel had the indexes came out and said that they no longer believe that it's only 8000 hp. They've actually just realized that they don't think that they have been able to track the actual horsepower, so they think it's actually closer to about 12,000 power on top filled with a lot eat a lot yes does it compare with a monster truck so it's you know it's so different now as I say it's all about the application of power very different feelings, of course, when you know when that top fuel dragster launched off the line.

It was one of the most unique feelings and about 300 feet out when that that that motor was putting all 12,000 hp back tires is a little bit delayed but said that that feeling a little bit scary, so the monster jam truck is is different because it's on dirt, you know it's slick it's a little more difficult to apply that power you know we got big 66 inch tall. The KT tires are trying to put 2000 hp and I monster jam truck which an electric talk about 12,000 hp to sound like a lot to thousand still a lot, but very tight arena. Usually, yes, very tight arena and a 10,000 pound machine and so that's where all this on the torque that comes up with those monster jam trucks are unbelievable but I think what blows my mind is just that the monster jam trucks ability to accelerate into the air weighing is much as it does with massive tires like it has is just an unreal feeling, but it is funny because he cannot drive with you but, like, feel it coming up through through the gospel ghetto which are you suspended in these thing I seen some of these light behind the scenes or the Discovery Channel shows about some of the stuff CRU actually in a Cedar is an Internet type thing you know, so I am I am an ACL may nominate a seat that's actually built for me specifically as an ISP seat and that's it deftly bolted to the truck. Thankfully, yes. So it's is is there shocks or something on it like what keeps you from breaking your neck when you bounce up and down yesterday have hydraulic shocks in your exact right that's the reason why we will do we do is because of the suspension setups on these monster jam trucks.

It's unbelievable what they've been able to do, but it is you know it's funny too because the higher you go up in the air, the more those hydraulic shocks have an opportunity to expand so that they have more ability to cushion the drop in exit fall so it's actually easier to go 30 feet in the air is a little soft on the landing that is 10 feet, which doesn't make sense, but it's how it happens is hydraulic shocks are just unbelievable.

Okay so I gotta ask you your in this very tight arena.

I seen it on television. You do these donuts and the and the super jobs in Endo sometimes up. Is there really close call in your world right there were it's maybe scare the audience and you at the same time. Yes EMS that's asked of the best parts. The show and it's not all is because of the many close calls and I definitely rolled it plenty of times that's for sure, but is it's great because it's a it's a know it's it's meant to put on a great show. These trucks are meant to put on as as as big and as bad of a show as we can possibly do. And that's what we got there to train for.

As well, but now when it's real loss get on us and if you allow to go to the races. Hoping something crashes good thing is monster jam trucks. We roll them over, you know, crawl right out of it. They can flip it back over we hopped back in and get back it back back at ice. I just cannot imagine what it's like to be in their back and forth about this.

What tell me about the season. First of all, so there was listening can now watch when when when does it start when they get televised and give me like boxwood. How many or how many events are there, so there's society depend on every signal toward is actually about seven or now think there might be eight monster jam towards this coming year.

There's two Fox sports one tors and there's three what they're calling the Amsoil triple threat monster jam series I am and beyond.

One of the Amsoil triple threat monster jam series which essentially is in the in the Coliseum's right just like you had mentioned, and I think I've got 15 events. I believe that are to be a part of that is starts the second week in January and will run actually through the end of April are big, Super Bowl event is in Las Vegas it's in March and I think it's 23rd through 25th, but it is our world finals. It is what everything is built up to try to get to and and hopefully this year all all have had a shot at least it being in the what they call the young guns shoot out. I was to get all the all the rookies and Aaron have a race off if you will, and try to make the big show for Saturday so have you been have you travel outside of the country of one of the shows. So yes, I've been to a decadent three maybe four events actually in Canada this year, which is when you're driving. When we are racing top fuel in the eyes are a series we actually went to Canada quite a bit as well.

So yeah we don't scan a couple times else a blast as well of going overseas for this. There actually must jam currently is in Australia this weekend. Of course I'm not there, but they yeah they they had about 20 countries every single year. Very cool art last question about this. The detail part. I know that when you are in racing that was very intensive on your schedule right Lotta shop work.

Lotta.

Maybe midnight hours are 2 AM hours work on things.

Get ready.
