Yoshio one good night he believed that once again proud to him regarding today's Christian Car Guyes show attributes to Vincent Menino world as we know them Vinnie.

Vinnie actually went to be the Lord yesterday morning at 640 as is our practice from Chris Christian Car Guyes show we left on her those to whom honor is due and I have in the studio with me. My good friend Sam, who was cohost a master interning with many many times. His son Eli. So how fun and it's going to be fun on get through this.

So if you listen closely to the opening which I hope you always do consider give you some clues to where were going today, Vinnie, which you may know him as Guido gasket in a Christian Car Guy theater was a good good friend of mine clear back from like 1998. I first met Vinnie, but his favorite one of his favorite movies was clearly the Godfather, but the other favorite movie was on the waterfront both movies with with Marlon Brando and Vinnie loved pigeons he he he braced pigeons he flew pigeons. He did all that stuff so that pigeon scene with Marlon Brando. If you can picture the whole thing because Vinnie himself claimed to be part of the you know the Mafia, and he was from New York and he had that accent and and you could hear that that you know it Guido gasket.

He was typecast. I can absolutely hit right on the head, but he was a faithful friend and he had some phenomenal wisdom that we get to share today as we know had them on the air with with some soundbites that I think it is, and I blow your mind. But just to get us to go and get a little bit of Vinnie and 2014.

I was first time I put Vinnie on the radio. I came up with this idea does it do a way to respect your mother for Mother's Day and select course naturally typecasting Vinnie. He was the perfect choice for respecting your mother know you're talking to Yolanda hello now actually, for those with new Vinnie. Well, he was the Godfather concede it worked in the prison they had nicknamed him the Godfather, which was absolutely wonderful so again if one of the things were hoping his lot of you listening or friends of any know of any you know all these things are lines or open if you got a Vinnie story.

This is the time to call in and share because as you might imagine. In the current climate really can't have a funeral so this is a time for his family.

People are listing the call in and share that Vinnie convinces this is going to be cool and the man lived from his heart like kidneys and yeah that would be an understatement could be a you never knew of Vinnie was going to say which is really cool but it always had some great wisdom to so moving along. It wasn't long like this was in 2014 and 2016, he became Guido gasket and a Christian Car Guy theater and this was Vinnie's debut once again typecast as Guido gasket. This was Guido gasket. Steve yelled put a lid on a graceful Logsdon Noah Capel when you see the taking out should be a trap. So he played. He played the part well, but I wanted to play what this is a little of Vinnie's actual wisdom. Okay so this is Abascal and running 2016 and for those of us move anywhere else, great to hear the old Vinnie voice before he got so sick, Vinnie. I would ask you a question that's right if records are good.

Okay.

Have you ever had something that you didn't know was going to make you feel like you come alive like a passion.

It is surprising that you learned hey I do enjoy this a lot yeah believe it or not I was chosen around in 1996 to take care of the nursery in the church because everybody was call me grandpa and I was old in 1996 really old so I have. I had to take care of the kids. Somehow they went out and they told the priest on the Catholic I'm sorry that that lets you know I'm not sorry if that's where unapologetically categorized and they told him that they had so much fun. We, grandpa, and he came and talked to me he wanted me to teach catechism young kids, are you crazy nuts the same thing when sister call it a game and build a church. So I've heard that term. A number of times but it became in my haughty says teach the kids as his father. I don't know the Bible, inside and out pieces just read it to them and you listen to yourself. This is yet this sounds okay.

Will became a passion I was teaching the young kids in church for catechism. You know, make their first communion and I enjoyed it so much that you know that we could not go by fast enough before I had. I never forget it was 14 kids grandpa grandpa grandpa grandpa you know what I'm grandpa. So yeah that became a passion and I'm still doing it but only go on doing it with grown men and and teenagers that has become a great passion of mine to be a list that's when you need and then prayer to Caleb is in the studio with us in the first time you met Vinnie. What were you about. I think I was 16 years old, 60 or something somewhere along there and he was grandpa with me. It was grandpa actually lost on my grandfather's pretty early and so Vinnie really stepped in that role for me and just provided that that sage for me and and just shared his life experiences in his wisdom with me and not something that I was always grateful for always. When Vinnie was talking you would listen, that was one thing is for sure, that's for sure. Sam and that the thing about that soundbite was what he said. I'd forgotten that I had no memory of that you know him personally times, even as Vinnie something you never knew what he was just fine.

You can even talk about it before the show they did me. That's how you'd respond with this okay about it. It was always amazing what godliness heart morning would share and how it it would move us and for me what I'd forgotten me unfortunately walk with somebody you know there's different seasons and Vinnie was in a different season last year for but he used to listen really really really well when he said what you need is a listener and you know we would meet after mass concerning what you know the band of brothers with me and as brothers we would sit in their and Vinnie often would say nothing Intel like you said Caleb. He had something to say and then it was listen up and and and he would say it with tremendous authority and any know he's paying attention to. It also gave just Charlie.

Marilyn is like oh here we go.

It was that it was unique thing while I met Vinnie in the ninth 1998.

He came into the dealership there at Westside we work Chrysler dealer and the reason he came in because he was trying to get a van for a young girl that needed an operation that he'd found out about and so he was trying to get me to donate a van to get this girl in Pennsylvania for an operation which I helped him out.

Then he figured out. Well I got a soft heart of his got a lot more our celebration Vinnie coming up your phone call six 347 88 and so I find a live I'll say I was a John Lino today on card I show we know them as Vinnie went to be with the Lord yesterday. How exciting for him and based on the suffering that we know he was experiencing. Sam we're really glad that that that he is with Jesus consists you know he he had a cut of couple years for sure. You didn't didn't you know that that song should the companies by surprise.

Nobody did. I heard it so many times in any human allergist means something on different stuff to Canada here. Yeah, a good friend of ours.

You promised him that they would play that song. His funeral so we have the opportunity to to share like that and in you know, one of the stories I and M were welcoming because to come in people that have their own stories. In fact, forgot barons can be on with us here in a second 866-34-TRUTH 87884 nest your list of the Christian Car Guy show and we are to talk about some car stuff Jesus label of its come… Stay tuned.

But what the stories I'll never ever forget about Vinnie and and and something that was just uniquely Vinnie which really God in my heart and can never leave. And you were there that night, Sam. We were arguing as Vinnie and I would argue quite often close friends. We are intimate friends and we sometimes had some rather heated discussions, especially on the subject of theology, but it was good because Vinnie knew I loved him and Vinnie love me in whatever you know happened, happened. But this particular day I was trying to get him to see my side of something I can tell you what it was and so I ask him a very pointed question. I said Vinnie, who is the closest person to God, you know, fully expecting him to talk about his pastors Jerry Webb over at the Methodist Church because he become a catalyst at this point he was pet part Department at that that's cycled in the catheters that I expected him to say Jerry Webb but what he said I'll never forget and it's better than the Sunday school answer.

He said it's me and I've never forgotten that that what a great answer. I mean an end. Vinnie spent hours and hours and hours and hours in prayer and so you know what a cool thing that when your asked point-blank like the closest person to God, you know, Vinnie said me. We got there in kind and also one of the hosts of the listing of the mask Internet radio show Darren is been under the knife. I guess for so it's awesome to have well happy to be there in spirit an invoice today Lovin the way you guys are honoring our fellow warriors.

Any I'm doing okay. Not a big deal. Just you know going to heal up but any thing. It reminds me of any of the most or the thing that I love about any of the multiple me say that is that Vinnie could not be put in a box you know he was Catholic but he wasn't Catholic. He was Methodist, but he was he was, you know, a Christian, but he was also Vinnie.

He was a kid that grew up with, you know, we were told he grew up with John Godey. Did you know his dad was, you know, part of it in a really really ugly ugly time that with the expectation Vinnie any you know escaped that by going to the military and then I remember he never really talked about his military experience too much and then one night you know with the super heavy heart. He he was literally in tears any elected any guys you don't know you don't know the things I've seen and I thought he was talking about the Mafia type of days and he wasn't. He was talking about the Korean and he with tears in his eyes talked about how hard it was to be there. Seeing how you know communist China was literally putting eight and nine-year-old boys on the front lines in Korea forcing us to charge the line or be shot in the back and Vinnie as an 18-year-old 19-year-old young man now has to decide it might get shot by one of the date-year-old boys or am I going to do my duty and protect the guys next to me and he began to share his heart really wrestled with that for first decade.

Literally decades because I remember Vinnie struggled with the idea of grace for a while and really, you know, just kept thinking, and I don't I don't know if I've been if I've done enough good things I want to do enough good things.

I don't know if I've done enough good things to make up for, you know, having been in the Korean War for having been involved in some think that was involved in and course we all know told him yes you haven't, but that's the good news is is you know God had had an eye. I love that about because the strategy and that was he was so deep of me. He was just so much deeper than you got on the surface. I love the one-on-one times that I had with him. I used to meeting for breakfast periodically at and just love that and mission yeah we do and thank you for commandeering God bless you that's awesome. I appreciated heal a piece he really has had some pretty serious surgery and he's been healing tough hospital situation right now so it's it's one of those things will you know Caleb.

He was there a glancing Billy Billy box. I think you could put Vivian was when you hit was with his friend.

You are his friend and I was nine and a change that's right we get back we Missed a call and then we've got owe some more cliffs at the gasket and him on the messenger and unforgettable stuff so you don't want to miss more of tribute to Vinnie Menino today on the Christian Car Guy life will I have really high all much more than I weigh are how I came in strong we can hear you loud and clear. This weekend I we are doing a tribute to Vincent Vinnie Menino. He was born actually. November 19 of 1933 and passed away just yesterday at 640 in the morning. I got the text from Paul, his grandson really was his grandpa and we, the Christian Car Guy show will always remember him as Guido gasket and so from my perspective, you know we did one Christian Car Guy episode Christian Car Guy theater episode that was actually an entire show. It was called a Christmas control that was all done to you know Charles Dickens a Christmas Carol, but it was a Christmas Corolla and Vinnie played the part of the ghost of Christmas future which he had showed up in a DeLorean and so you know to me. He delivered these lines is only Guido gasket could and in from my perspective, this will always be Guido's finest right here on what happens if I have to get my back. I said we live in.

That's it. One more stuff to show you guess that I am in time is almost always bad as this one question things that will will think that might open our present US so I'm going to give it to you straight. God knows no summer only good comes from branches that are connected to that same good so is Jesus. God's so you is that open up that present Jesus sacrificed on the cross for your sins, you will be planted. It's your choice. You can either be vitalizing lies. Your choice. And that was the voice of any Menino is Guido gasket as I will always always remember that particular episode. It was such a joy to work with them and that you had to be in the studio to fully appreciate all the gifts that that he really had in them since a humor, etc. we have actually one of his hospice folks Misty is on the phone with this misty you didn't get to know Vinnie until little bit later in life.

I like it like that and started after he passed away and I really value our friendship that we deal yeah I noted that you are like a lifeline to him in some way different ways. I would hear from them.

Every time I saw him well. Misty visited me.

I'm hoping Misty is this so now what would be your favorite Vinnie story well when I did it with him legally quite evident with prayer and he would pray for me after I Ali something very special to me that he needed our friendship evaluate people enacted.

In any really a laughing and I remember him thinking one time I played at I did it my way, only complimenting light in the hospital bed raising his arm, long that's classic that's absolutely wonderful Misty thank you for calling him and Sharon today and in honoring our friend got bless all right, well we have another one of the houses best and turn the radio with this man handed Thomas and I'm sure you know Vinnie had a warm spot in his heart, stranded in the same no absolutely it in the IMA gift would salute him sure that that boy. Vinnie always have it on you he would never let it go. It was every time I see him.

He had it in his handy-dandy welcome to Christian Car Guy, so I don't think you've ever been on the Christian Car Guy ship. Thank you appreciated first of all you are doing a great job on some of the stuff on here first. Pretty impressive year legacy and what all went on like I like the only new, electric to your life and I think he was gone blind. But that have lost one of his live shortly thereafter is that the life and so when I unite the story about a year there was a couple times when I went out I did a lot of travel work and you know he would be my heart because he would share in a tough situation where you didn't always have people come in and see stuff like that and I wanted to remember. So the first thing in the name of and the giant but a little ballgame in New York running back a baseball conduct that like you to put that in his hand and feel it may be going the first thing that the head took another trip by company from Israel and I went to the holy land and brought it back would cross Ali would cross, and you like.

I think that's what you get. It meant a lot to him and I would go in for a minute. Started out, you know, pretty lights like a yellow wood, and by the time couple couple months later.

I mean he had anything and will target almost dark brown hair than anything in the way that it should be that the cross and our hope for our future.

Our time and going to be with God should mean that much to it.

But hopefully that was some kind of dollars you always get the joy time that he would get down and rightfully so. Situation but I think we encourage the team and that what works for one another and he would come back and what I think was really a testimony of his good where he went. He was in a very difficult situation and opened up in and had them prepare all and ministering to quite a few people there and it is powerful to hear that because he kept hope I get you on the phone and you play this. You were there this day.

We recorded this particular blind faith that process which this plat. This is classic Vinnie right here in this topic for you was one that was one you want to talk about because blind faith means something a little different to you sometimes and it does us of a point about how often we all step out blind faith that's exactly right. Because sidelines since I'm blind you have to have faith in that how to how to the people that have been wheeled in for an operation you know that on those in the operating room they tell you to count to five. You can get the floor in your ring there in some strange is going to cut and do a linebacker that is blind faith. That's what I mean by blind faith and I found out that most everything that you do in your everyday life has to do with faith. The point is that almost everything you can think of this faith behind it and behind the faith is God. He's the one that gives you that faith you may not understand it like I didn't understand it. I complained why did you make me blind. Why, I realized the old saying that God has a purpose for everybody here anywhere on the site and is not finished with us until we go home.

Well it wasn't finish with me, mainly blind, I can't see the guys crust away from me here, and I'm sure there'll ugly as they were God's worst no I found out that there is a purpose for me just like tonight. I haven't been here in six months because I was I had some site and I was managing now. I have no site and I spend my days in bed thinking about God and thinking all the things that he has given me and it comes to me and faith that I have in 86. We'd love to hear your Vinnie story we got genograms can be with us next 866-34-TRUTH 87884 866-34-TRUTH.

We got out all over loaded for bear so much more tribute. Vinnie, that Christian car guy tribute to Vincent Menino, our good friend dear brother, which you know I kind of Bible plumbing Hebrew for brother this morning and it's really a neat thing that it's an aleph which means under the father and and then it's 1/2 which it's sort of like Jim would know this.

I have on the phone which were negative in a minute but it it's kind of like part of the family like part of being married to him in so many different ways it's it's that close a brother is in which Vinnie certainly was to those of us that it had a chance to share today, but I wanted to go back to Caleb, our youngest part of the show today anyway but Caleb's.

20 oh yeah been a long journey since I was 16 years old, but not that I think I was 16 when I first met Benny and it was at a masculine dirty men's retreat in one of the things that mean Vinnie really bonded over was my journey.

Plan high school and collegiate football and so one of the first stories are member about Vinnie. We're just having a conversation just sit outside and you asked me what position I played as I thought I played offense of lineman is back in the day that he's play football. I said okay what position did you play he said we now they have white out as an wide receiver. He said I played left out as and left out of the game. You know that interesting position there.

Vinnie, that's absolutely wonderful. We have Jim Graham who loves Hebrew very much Republican's go on and on about the word brother with this but anything was a brother and his brother in a jam a lot about the brothers were talked about that I did not know well hoping that you have already called Kari about you will because without and I tried very hard a couple but the calling never really worked.

One thing that impressed me, even though you blind 9/10 times what I walk in that big and it would be maybe feel special board.

I don't think I've ever met one of my life for Betty laugh, cry baby always wary that almost unique.

Yeah, I remember the name of it. The talk about cars that he was the talk one of unique five anyway.

Wonderful God about God that's all right Jim thank you for calling in today. God bless and looking forward to seeing you Tuesday. We did miss I'll be there. Well, as we talked about. We need to mention the Jesus labor love car repair labor for single moms widows and families in crisis. And as you might know we're in a crisis and as a result of that we really have more applicants and we can meet the needs for and I know everybody has a lot of needs needs right now and I'm just asking you, pray for us along with your other prayer things that that think about how we can meet the needs of the people that desperately need transportation under these times and think about that ministry is your going and that by the way, was one of the places it Vinnie really shines. He loved to to take part in those kind of things and in helping out single mom.

He started a soup kitchen at the Methodist Church mean heat. He did the Shamrock run for his Which are immensely different things and actually those of us knew this he was the grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and in his area and also I used to tease him all the time about mammogram Cuba never missed an opportunity for a day giving him for Vinnie, but we were and you know it was it was one of those latest things happen to have the Lasher weight.

Sam, you got, you want to tell a little bit about how to set this up in my lifetime yeah it it was a show in which we just talked about bringing Vinnie back in one of his good friends Mariska and bring him and we talked about the topic of finishing strong. Now this was just back in August I don't know this is appropriate, but it was what got me started one word Rita, my wife of 42 years was a simple can't lose somebody that you love for 42 years got me started into Christ Jesus turned on my life should we did a lot of good things me Robbie together Shamrock run bicycle international bike race. Too many things go to church to church mission strong sick good shape and you must strong you must usually says I'm here open your heart open door.

Let me see you could do that then you know the ending days you will be loved by Jesus and the father may show simplistic to be simple, how hard is it to feel love like I felt my wife Rita. Jesus is giving it and offering it to me told me I would be if I don't accept it or summer days. A hard heart. A lot of the days get hard when I sit and I pray, given the verbal biography here.

I don't mean to gush. Many now we start a new journey 86 behind as I told people how do you know what it feels like you say you don't. But you don't. I don't know but Sam we all know he wasn't yet 86 is one of the biggest mysteries in life was how old is now I tell you what I have is his birthdate and he gave me that you knowingly set up is that I'm on ancestry, but but that's that's what we have. We actually have here Vinnie's last words on the radio.

It was a powerful day for some reason, summer, I just didn't want lay in the bed and feel sorry for myself. I just want to I want to help people was doing it sound like rear end and the mass.

Kendra Schaub asked Edward coming near the end of the Christian car – obit you know that really his last words were so much with his life was he always found ways to help people. It didn't matter if he would say he was done and then all of a sudden he be helping somebody else to something else and even from the standpoint that the time and he shared just giving up, giving testimony at the facility. He was at the main part of the ministry there that my helping set up in the young lady that was there and just how much he was able to love on others. No matter what was going on with him and Caleb. I remember him. You know Sam did a what you call the ceremony where he got his heat. He stood up and spoke to Pat now my coming days for my 16th birthday and now was awesome to hear just the words and him open up his heart for somebody that I thought I didn't know that well yes a tribute to Vincent Menino if you get a Christian car guy.com you can give Caleb I mean you can get Caleb or the pocket or you can check out many articles about the Jesus labor love for podcast previous shows Christian car guy theater if you want to list all of that Christmas pro it's all there in Christian car guy.com are so grateful you spend time with us sharing the life of our friends. Now remember slowdown. Jesus walked everywhere he went and got it all done in 33 years. Let me also say that theater when he got out of the boat. He didn't need to be looking at the storm needed to be no Vinnie
