Joining us now from the pages of the Richmond Times Dispatch, the guru of ACC reporting.

My friend David Teal ACC basketball tipoff if they had.

If you ever have you ever been to a Taco Bell drive-through or Taco Bell could you and you and I are the same. Apparently somebody on TV of FOXBusiness reporter was lamenting the fact that he spent $28 on lunch for him at a Taco Bell so it's hard like it's been proven that you can get the 28 but you really have to screw it up to get the 28 I think I did the most I could probably do is like 18 at Taco Bell but I gotta be really really hungry so Taco Bell start selling tequila.

You know, depends.

I like I know you can get a beer like at a McDonald's in Europe, so why not depending on where the jurisdiction is maybe go across the border to Canada.

Maybe you can get a Taco Bell with with a Molson or something. I dated ~I hear this correctly, that they are legitimately discussing.

And in fact encouraging the expansion of the NCAA men's basketball tournament at the ACC meeting depends on who you talk now wore a long way from any potential or any notion that this is evident the transformation committee has been kicking around that I that 25 up to 25% of the sports participation could qualify for NCAA tournament action right so you thought about or Division I men's basketball women's basketball you talk about about 93 right switch to another complete.

Basically another round may not. Not everybody playing another round, but like other than the top 04. Teams five through maybe six teams everybody else playing an additional round that the only reason to do that would be of course money did people legitimately try to give the excuse or the not excuse reason that there are a lot of good teams left out of the tournament. Gosh, that's embarrassing what one or Hamilton framed her access or more athletes, and wouldn't that be a great thing to bring that joy into those young people's lives. I've never been her childhood. He's the greatest yes why the question yesterday. He looked at me what you and I think that I and then he proceeded to with a smile on his face a centrally take me down coldly and I've never felt so good basil 1/2 mile Leonard glittered as the guy do I love letter Hamilton so that way I get it framed that way. I don't disagree with it. Right leg for the four and for that same reason, and I would be in favor of this for that same reason I would say why don't we have 80 college football bowl games because even if you're on the three and nine team.

Why shouldn't you also have the thrill of going to the Charmin bowl and an ditto and being able to have a rib eating contest in Frisco, Texas. Why shouldn't you also be able to do that and I can get with that if that was really if I believe that were really the issue but I don't believe that's that's the issue, but I appreciate them framing it that way. Do you think will at least start because I've always thought this that will ultimately because we have for playing games and for the first four believe were just good double that field and have the same sink to 16 seeds playing for right to get whacked by one and 211 or 212 seeds playing for the right to get in and bother somebody's bracket. What Behar suggested yesterday that you essentially have a first or for every region would liquid which would add 12 team would take 68 to 80.

I have no problem with that really died. I don't think that would be terrible for what you I don't know if you still do it but there was a time where you tried to project the NCAA tournament bracket right right and we know a lot of people that do it and I used to do it and then when you do it, you realize that once you get to like the last five or six teams nobodies good so we we we would now be adding 12 teams beyond the teams that we already knew, really were good that my argument is that we don't have too many deserving teams is that you don't nobody's really good word. We should probably reduce the size of the tournament rather than expand it but were never going to reduce the size of the tournament, like shortening the professional you know shortening a baseball season 220 games, or a basketball season to 70 games as opposed 82, never taking regular-season games.

They will hear their money.

Calvert, Adam and I will disagree but look at last season's AA baseball term last good to the team that got to the College World Series right now one okay yeah right. Moments stay classy, one national chair that the new argument that's something Jim Phillips raised yesterday say look at that old myth could easily miss that the NC state for that last good and would have been denied the chance that ultimately won them. The national trip so it then the argument is anybody can win. So why not let everybody in. If that's the argument advised that always been everybody in right what what damage you write because all of the conference basketball tournaments correct or are your pathway in.

But what would what what if we let everybody into the NCAA tournament like 363 teams. By the way I want to see the bracket on if we let everybody in what damage would that really due to all of the conference tournaments with the big South tournament matter at all. At that point, would matter.

At that point Adam and it would become everybody would become so unwieldy CVS doesn't want this thing going past the last right much earlier. Yeah so or you started much later. I'll talk to somebody yesterday so your college basketball really want to reinvent itself.

It would start in January go to Matt and it's not it's not a ridiculous idea simply because invite Craig mention this yesterday. He's a smart guy. He is worried that college football white off expansion is going to suck the oxygen damage college basketball is regular-season that no one's going to pay attention to. Essentially, the post almost 2/3 of the thing I would say to Mike Bray. I think that's already happened. I think I think college it and I'd I'd I joke about this, but it's not really a joke.

I did the college basketball season starts with the first two Carolina game. That's when we really start paying attention and will write to just basically is what it's it's after the Super Bowl and I don't believe the college football playoff expansion is going to lengthen the season beyond where it already is. Maybe by one week, but everything that their expanding their expanding like back not mean in terms of earlier not later so all most of these days we played and in December, not it, not January into February.

So I understand my greatest fear, but I think were already there. I think whether it's college football or pro football. We can't take our eyes off the football until that's over.

And then we start paying attention. I would argue that the the real move would be to not start the college basketball season in early November anymore.

We used to start around Thanksgiving weekend. That makes a lot more sense to me. I don't. I just don't know what I mean, I know why because ESPN wants like early November programming and all of those tournaments are mean ESPN obviously don't televise as most of them. Those are all those are all big deals, but yeah I I remembered Maryland and Georgetown played their first game of the season. One year the I think it was the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend leave the Joe Smith game against Georgetown and the last time other than NCAA tournament commitment matchup when Marilyn and Georgetown actually played a basketball game against each other in spite of being separated by 10 miles… That's what used to be, but I think of one semester support would be better for basketball than what we have now was the what was the feeling like down there but we did Jim Phillips do a long dissertation about a bunch of other sports before basketball IQ does before football like 910 minute opening statement right while one what what we get 25 four for football outside since the summer we need we need when things to talk about what was the general feeling about the league as we go into this season Jim Daly I'm still here is like furniture. So what were just a general feeling about basketball going and we got new coach new coach at Duke. So everybody still optimistic about the what the ACC is going to be like this year and the on the hardwood and I think everyone is a little bit ago I told you so chest pounding about a we told you we worked out.

Look at how well we did in the NCAA town and there is a kernel of truth.

Sure, let's also remember that last season was the first time since the early 60 VAC.

Regular-season did not include a matchup of my dad yet only one that we could always figure out a way to make make everything look look better than it was and I would argue that NCAA tournament success can be lucky as much as anything else and I would argue that last year I obviously Carolina became great and maybe they are. I don't know and Duke was really good all year long and just kind of I think, wore down from all of the attention that they were getting on a day in day out basis before David Teal, the Richmond Times Dispatch go. How is the mood for football in the state of Virginia in the ACC everybody still on board with Brent, Brian, Tony, Tony Elliott and things are going everybody on board with viable body. That's right right running the Sunbelt or III think I think they have bases at Virginia Tech and Virginia respectfully are are still hope for coaching buyers were what will work out. I don't think Ward Venable Gascon Oklahoma yeah right, but they are undoubtedly discouraged their teleology topics of guy and all the sudden brother Armstrong is going Brent prize, a defensive guy and all the sudden break they Israel a better candor college] is what great if everyone but if the candidate is very good look like toad's like I want Virginia Tech to be good there. One of the football brands in the league were getting so far removed from Virginia Tech being good in the last several years of Frank Beamer. They were just just okay were so far removed from Virginia Tech being a threat that I just wonder I wonder.

It is very possible. It was just all Frank Beamer and we have to may be to us just guess that maybe that might just be the case that it might just have been Frank Beamer and nobody else that is made out of Virginia Tech. Brandon. To your point about football Saturday will be the 40th meeting between Virginia Tech and Miami first and with both teams losing while I medicine depressed me even more. David Teal you the best. I appreciate your time and led by David Teal on Twitter talk to you very soon.

Thanks
