Have financial capital financial USA.com. This is the gold shell so Dennis put up a pole earlier which we discussed at 1 o'clock and writing votes are welcomed. Writing votes were not compelling.

So here are the four choices in the four choices were UNC baseball get screwed lose Scott Forbes did you and Caroline is playing today for a chance to advance lighting and Rangers NBA finals Tampa Bay rays/pride NBA finals came in last line particles is very devoted very, very competitive. What is a matter fact, if we waited maybe 15 minutes of the answers my change lightning and Rangers came in third, but very close. UNC baseball came in second.

That leaves Tampa Bay rays pride so here's the story. If you are unaware will get to the headline here in the second.

So every team does over the course of the season. They do various promotions. Sometimes it's back days. Sometimes it's you know heads T-shirt day and but they also honor groups in their communities and the Tampa Bay rays due to pride day hurricanes do a Friday and that's pride month a lot of time doing the right yes absolutely better with the US men's national soccer team who played yesterday afternoon for rainbow colored numbers on the back of their jerseys so what the rays did was simply put a patch on their beautiful soup just about had it with that stupid new formats to put a patch and then go out in rainbow uniforms.

They just put a patch on their beautiful and there were five players who refused to wear the patch on all said the same thing. It was basically it was faith-based. Okay, it's faith-based what happened to all God's children.

I'm just curious. There goes that would be my question for faith-based because I can't buy this, and this is from Jason Adam was a picture. One of the five pitchers who there are pictures for some reason it's not judgmental. It's not looking down, it's just what we believe the lifestyle he's encouraged meaning Jesus has encouraged us to live for our good not to withhold but again we love these men and women we care about them and we want them to feel safe and welcome your so what's the point with the what's the problem with the patch because I don't think you can have it both ways. You can't say it's not judgmental.

It's not looking down and then simply say an end and didn't refuse to put the patch because it is judgmental, and I think I might have more respect for that. If you simply said that, I mean nobody can make you do anything you don't want, but I just don't think that you can have it both ways. They did say earlier. He did say that putting on our bodies feels like it's encouraging something that is against our faith so that is was on the unit say he did say that right except then just say you can't say it's not judgmental because it is it's it's exactly what it is you can't tell me that you're not judging them after saying that first which again I'm not saying you have to agree to it, or agree with it.

That's not my point. I'm just saying you can't you can't straddle the double yellow line in the middle-of-the-road here. You're either edit it doesn't mean you endorse the behavior. It simply means you are supporting the people who clearly have it more difficult because of the situation that they are written by no fault of their own people are who people are so what really struck it struck me though was Kevin Cash the manager of the club that really struck me. Kevin Cash the manager of the rays basically said that our our our locker room spun like yet.

I think the issue that if the issue of course your locker room spine. Not everybody has the same beliefs in every locker room that did is a blanket statement across all sports. We have very very different points of view in every locker room and good teams move past those differences of opinion there is no way that anybody means your you're all it's all teamwork. The Pittsburgh Steelers got a gun around the fact that Alejandra Ville Villa Nueva part of the leadership of the Pittsburgh Steelers opted to not honor the teams decision for everybody to remain in the locker room during the national anthem and went on the field by himself. They got around that even though he clearly went against the leadership Council, which he was part of the gun around because they have a great locker room so it was never an issue whether or not the rays locker room was going to be good of the rays locker room wasn't. This is a difficult thing for the for the Tampa Bay rays.

The deal with you. Got five players on your team to put themselves above the team or or and and really didn't want to be accountable for my saying we we support the lead don't you don't so big be straight up again. I think you'd you probably would find people would go well. It is what it is but you can't have it both ways doing to support them or you don't.

You don't have to agree with what they're doing but you either support them or you don't.

I would take a quick break and come back Tom McMillan, University of Maryland grad Rhodes scholar, three-time US Congressman on college sports in the era of name, image and likeness. Next golden studio with my friend Coach Pete the router with a capital financial advisory group. We are talking retirement hotels longevity risk figure into our retirement and income plan. This is the best of times and the worst of times and longevity risk me to get a lift to all but to me everyday lives not too long after we want to money to outlive us and unfortunately many people have seen you out there listening.

Maybe one of them.

Your money is not designed to outlive you. You might outlive your money and that's not what we want to have happen as we get to the day after you run out of money not to be a fun time with design a plan that guarantees will never run out of money. We call it the GPI plan growth protection lifetime income for the next 10 people is the golden ticket out of the snow valuable to do at no cost or obligation, and all you have to do is call we make it so easy. Would you like financial independence into your retirement and beyond. 800-661-7383 that golden ticket is $1000 value or you could text Adam to 21000 for Coach Pete to root Tom McMillan, three-time United States representative. He represented the universe that the University merrily played at the University of Maryland represented the state of Maryland is the CEO of lead one Association also played with Len Elmore.

I can imagine that there were smarter teammates anywhere in the history of college basketball than Len Elmore and Tom McMillan.

He joins us on the Adam gold show did you guys just like I don't know just talk legal briefs or whatnot in the locker room and in the 70s. Well, you know not really great you on your show filter great community deployed no header area different truth. I was pretty bad. Working on his job but we had a great moisture because we still do today. It's funny I've talked to Lynn about the things that we talked about, so I'm just I'm fascinated to hear where you are in the name, image and likeness has taken over college athletics, at least the conversation. I don't know if it's taken over college athletics.

I think some of what we are hearing now is just this is the new issue and we are paying it a lot of attention because it is different so I'm just going abroad. Britt let you broadbrush this for me.

Where does lead one Association stand on name, image and likeness and its impact in college athletics well read 130 of the Lord, all the programs we've always been supportive very divisionwide great from day one we saw was important that we monetize their public that's never been the question. I think the only question is, is it everything that done today with just a bit public rights or are there other things mixed into it recruiting and so forth and so FAILED to cure and IL were on right so it's obviously been an issue with returning inducements and almost every school by now has a will just call them collectives which are alumni.

Maybe businesses that are pulling money and I think what I see Ryan Dave, the head football coach at Ohio State say they were to need for $13 million to keep their roster intact at Ohio State. My question is recruiting inducements have been part of college athletics. Since there was recruiting how how would we ever stop something like this.

Now it's just it's just kind of the lay of the land. Good point, but I did not get a lot of dude I got the opportunity to go to college and get an education that might rule aboard all that paperwork so I'm not going to say recruiting you do have always existed.

They held that may have occurred under the table but in my experience, you know, I judged. Scholarships by the quality score 1 of the quality of the basketball program. I think the issue here is all you have to look at how the old ball beginning AA for those schools should be involved should be in the middle of the what happened was a major part of your business which is helping your student athletes being outsourced to boosters and the whole concept of school should be involved, upside down schools involved in everything to get internship to get a job. They help with ordering that you know there when their underprivileged date paper to go to family funerals of why shouldn't school be involved in the stock will be distributed statistic in the NFL of the players alone is not to pay the loan to do most merchandising deals together 70% of the merchandising deals with fellow done with player and team Tom Brady payable, and 50% All-Pro working so the school should be working closely on and as we develop now get outsourced or collective word there could be conflict of interest because of the collective. Once you bring your kids school and the coach doesn't want that.

That's not necessarily the way to run a railroad and so I think from the very beginning. The idea that we should be out there third-party. One of which long the NFL while duct out the happily college boards as well come back to school. The school should be in charge of downstage reversing the laws Mississippi, Louisiana, are now saying can be about, which is exactly the way it should be one plus one should equal three when the kid school working together they can build their total brand and not necessarily make it compatible with each other.

Tom McMillan's former Marilyn*three times US member of the House of Representatives and Rhodes scholar joining us here also sealed lead one Association are you are you suggesting that the this is the way I would take it that the schools should be directly compensating players is a different day you know when the school hired multimedia forms to go out altogether more than they should have all player division should be working just as hard for women athletes avail adequately should be walking this whole division should be working hard monetize athletes. They manage a lot and quite frankly we've been very much in favor of group life from the very beginning why because it takes no time everybody gets the same check. It's very egalitarian and it works merely worked in the NFL working college work, but I'm saying is that I just think the school along with all the managers tickets and manages all sponsorship can also layer of division that works hard for a student athletes in the thinking along one you can if you concur like you to get you up because of the supervised environment where kids are making money off like I think that in the long run it may slow down. This drive moved to turn them into employee and all that because I do think there are some downsides to the employment model and I think that we ought to have licensing board. Could she make a lot of money to like I actually talk to a former football player who received $8000 in group licensing checks from the old football videogame and I would argue that $8000 is probably underselling the athletes, but that was a blanket. Everybody got the same, but that was a blanket to a blanket figure my Tom McMillan is joining us here. My my response to what you are talking about is that the the monetize monetization of these players the schools of been doing this for a long time.

That's how schools have been making middle back when, like when I was in school when I graduated 1988. So this is due no matter the universities were probably making just a few million dollars per year on like you know shared revenue and television money because 10 years later, the ACC was the leader and they distributed $9 million per school in shared revenue, so the numbers have gone up astronomically the Big Ten when they when their TV deal is done. The big tents bobbing in a be distributing between 60 and 70 million.

The SEC is going to get there as well. So the money is just grown completely in no markers based on what the players are getting the schools are afraid of losing their own money. How we trust the schools that they'll give the kids exactly what they're worth again. I will go back to the agreement to be a social contract for basketball and football players and you want that social contract to exist without having to decimate all your other know you underscored you nonrevenue your your your your work record and we have to look at this from a national perspective are beautiful just going to have no current college football in college basketball NFL and wiped out all the other sports.

I don't think that's necessarily in our best interest of the country and so we have to down, but we also have to balance a new social contract football and doubtful boards on top of that know in 1991 I had a hearing on the hill and we were just approaching the first million-dollar football coach at the time. I said they don't flow that no you don't have million-dollar ballplayers and football players and Job. They've allowed the whole coaching to get out of whack. There's a lot of coaches out there that are citing 30 million-dollar deals never wanted national to project who okay but you know the whole BB agent have got the upper hand in college sports. Yelping coaches can move around in the other school by L4.

To me that's nonsensical in the NFL. You can't do that. By the way again about your player you Know you're stuck for five years with the team unbridled free agency until all I'm saying is we have to talk controls on the excess is not blowup this great establishment of college boards. By the way, produces so many kids would get college education five football about multilayered builders about here and I'm not sure that the system itself can be a formula all hopefully maybe one day Congress will see the point in trying to allow some harmonization of these rules across the country of I'm not sure where this all going to be pretty chaotic for the next couple years. By the way, your point this and I'll get really good look at Carolina for their starters document suggests all unlocked and the more I think kids say, well below one 37,000 or the want to chance in the NBA or do I come back and make hundreds of thousand dollars to my and I will like so it has been a pleasure college boards and it just needs to be just needs some tweaking to make sure that we keep the doctor college for its is is is that what would you what you're describing with the Carolina kids coming back. That's true name, image and likeness compensation and I know you have no problem with that because that is directly off of endorsements. We assume I mean that there might be some collective assistance there but these are players who are going to realize their value in the marketplace, whether it's local or regional may be some national especially because of the run they had to the national championship game a year ago, and be able to make some money off of that. The PennDOT that is different than recruiting inducements and many get back to that.

I am curious, do you think the collegiate model is even with an IL as part of it is the collegiate model fair for the athletes collegiate model is not should not be the only model want to go to college pathways, but you I will but pleasant article about the point very clear. The force kids that have to go through college to play in the NFL crazy pickup what college you need to do their institutions of higher learning federal government from dollars $50 billion of these colleges. Universities need to make sure that we understand that the college ball which is unique United States is based upon Kim coming into college and at least getting a reasonable chance of getting a college education and all is not perfect system half a million kids go through the come out a lot better suited for infill. I think it needs to be preserved. The excesses need to be taken out of the question.

I have a hard time defending we coaches get fired in college or space $600 million to the beach for the over the last 12 years. I just find it. Some of the excesses in college for the do not occur in the need to be corralled.

You don't give it know coaches don't run around and sell anti-tampering players don't just unfettered free agency of the pros. I just think the some controls that are necessary, but in no way taking away the opportunity for student athlete to earn legitimate name, image and likeness competition… With the best job in the world is X football coach X college football coach's a great run of you get to go on TV that you get another job and you get to be in its college football coach again is literally the greatest job in the history of the of sports are let me ask you one more question because I think I think this gets back to maybe some of the, the deeper rooted issues. You say that we, the fear is that were white. We would wipe out other sports. As long as the universities did not get involved in directly paying athletes and as long as the universities didn't like suffer major revenue losses based on people who would otherwise donate to the school that are now donating to the collectives or companies that would otherwise utilize the school and I believe they still would rather than go directly to the players ice I've never figured out why we would lose no rent nonrevenue sports wide track and field would go away.

Why lacrosse would go away if the schools aren't responsible for direct payments) super licensing range.

Kids are getting part of the new social contract. I think you probably should talk about the rights and yes because that's where the goals are California and but there has to be a quid pro quo for that mother was a kid kids.

The longer they stay in school, the more they advance academically, they should. They should make more of those cases you are going to have some pressure on the euro for every dollar that the school gives the kid a male athlete the requisite title IX concerns so your by Jim male athlete 5% of television revenue will probably get 5%. So it doesn't balance out long but I do believe in the big picture is colleges could develop their own player division and really focus on maximizing publishing rights maximize big internships maximizing the experience because that you think that school that makes a lot of foods along with and lived out, kids want to stay in school longer time and so I think that week. I don't think this have to be no zero-sum game. I think that one plus one equals reader yeah you know it's funny. I been talking about this issue for the better part of a decade and I've always wondered why why we would look down the road and say you know what, I wonder if kids would stay longer if there was a financial incentive for them to return to school and I think I think were going to see this. It's funny I just I'm just getting his eye on Williamson as an example here. He wanted to come back to Duke for another year but he would. That's woods financial suicide did not take you know all forget about the NBA's money.

All of the money he made away from the NBA. It was it was just a bad idea to not do that, but had my right though I grew today on going. I think it will be will help retain great athletes and hopefully get some education and it will make them a better professional when they go into the close yet me. I did the at the education to me and you. You and I may disagree on this because you are a scholar. I wasn't believe me I was not at the University of Maryland. Mr. McMillan, I think the college. The college education varies per student and and not just for the based on the student but based on what the school wants from that student. We just we get a word 10 years out from academic scandal at UNC and it was clear that the University didn't really value the education that they were providing the athletes it that's just very obvious from everything that we know about.

So it's not just the student sometimes it's the institutions that kind of devalue that education that is offered but yes it is, it's a it's a great opportunity. In most cases to get that degree think that college sports is a viable job taking 500,000 giving mostly a degree every year. I think it's really up powerful for doing what exists in the world you know what if I would hug you and feel like I find a way to get that to a movie they would be from different. I would want to have the experience of a college exposure because that will change your life may not trade everybody's life will change did not make an enormous difference in our country. McMillan, I appreciate your time. I hope we can do it again, the CEO of lead one Association. He is the CEO that three-time US Congressman a Rhodes scholar and 11 time 11 year NBA veteran Olympian you have a great resume. A better resume than Len Elmore. To be perfectly honest, all great.

You may think that drug tickets are McMillan. Hopefully we can do it again all right. Dennis we put star on the board actually on the spine of the book. Let's get right to have to your time. I know the good, the rolling cheese race competition. Yes, so people probably seen in our lives. It hasn't been around for a couple years because of the pandemic with the Gloucestershire Wednesday Gloucestershire shore cluster Gloucestershire disco Gloucester classroom by the Gloucester cheese rolling competition. We can't pronounce anything in the UK now and I don't do wind Gloucester cheese rolling competition was brought back.

Now for those no nose really roll this big will it cheese down the hill rights 200 yards long. Yes, and whoever gets to first win you when the cheese please review when the cheese well congratulations because we have from North Carolina State University Abby Libby. That's right your winter in the women's division so when you look at one when you solicited writing conversation probably right, and we we do a poll just about every day. Think there's one day a week. We don't we do a poll where you can decide what we talk about and today it was Tampa Bay rays pride night somebody wrote in tranquility Road in NC State cheese wheel chase world champ at all I can say is tomorrow. Yes tomorrow 215 that is fantastic gas at a very, very excited for tomorrow.

I'm just curious what would Emily. I will ask this of Abby Martin what would possess you like I want to do that now could be dangerous. If you get hurt doing that. It's a steep hill yeah it just that the videos just he would literally just rolling down a muddy hill, though right. It's pretty it's pretty muddy is it yeah man, you look at it again. It's the yeah it's not the most enticing thing to do in the world is rolled on the sill but you know what you can say you experience it now you hold the cheese to go to cheese out my go to cheese Wu, like a good smoked Gouda oh suspect that smoke you are doing to expand this could write them off. Oh my gosh we duplicate could you play the rank of music that will take away my halftime entertainment.

Now we can do that. I got a good smoked good. I like a good extra sharp New York cheddar.

I prefer not like the lighter I like the RMA.

I don't like and I like it fine. I prefer the lighter and you also like a little horseradish in it. Very nice and a Havarti, with some dill joy is not already dilatory is phenomenal giving fresh mozzarella target on a fresh mozzarella like a really really fresh.

Yes yes cheese Kurds like actually cheese Kurds cheese Kurds okay oh I lived in Wisconsin for a bit, cheese Kurds, fantastic analog alive. Nice white American gosh, I guess it's not not even what is great for grilled cheese Adam while love it. All right, so there are there's a growing popularity with F1, especially here in the United States.

A lot of it has to do with the increase exposure of formula formula 1. Thanks to the Netflix series Drive to survive and really boost the popularity here in the United States, will the TV writes that ESPN has the formula 1 is going to end here after this year so looking at 2023 media rights and moving forward. According to business insider. Ian ESPN holds the rights but starting in 2023. Looking at a bid now or bidding war you I guess you could say between ESPN, NBC Universal, Amazon and Netflix were live rounds as Netflix needs live sports. Yes that is a big figure drive the price up yes votes to drive the price up now apparently reports are saying that you spent currently pays about $5 million a year just by going back to you for Formula One. Apparently they put in a bid for $70 million out of Liberty Media, who owns Formula One is looking for 100 million+ now one of the reasons why Netflix is going to be potentially a buyer into this is because they have the drive to survive. They already have that content so they can package around watch this show this original programming and the live race itself and again we talk about how Amazon apple of all bought into live television, live streaming Netflix needs to get in that in order to keep the subscribers. This might be their way into doing yet look if if you don't have lime sports live sports is the only thing that the ratings not start across the ratings and I continue to go up in every for every sport may mean a major-league baseball ratings are down right but people watch live sports I do not do this live content and if you're Netflix and I can get just about everything you've got other than your original programming like I can get just about everything you got elsewhere.

I don't need you have to give me something I can't get anywhere else and you have to give me enough of it. By the way Formula One is not enough for Netflix.

They need more barefoot into the dryer to start is the first thing by the way stranger thing season for volume 1, Netflix's possible Hall of Fame ballot has been announced against sappers part of the ballot about also part of the ballot is Julie Tim Tebo is one of the great college football players of all that's an easy one.

Julius peppers goes in with. I first ballot to me was no question the Julius peppers belongs good for.

I lie like I like the fact that a guy like Tebo who was a terrible NFL player mean I'm not known at me or fine at me if you want I don't care at Eagle fan. He was a terrible NFL player, but a transcendent college player like Tyler Hansbrough belongs in a college basketball.

The same not a good enough up NBA player, but he belongs in a college basketball thing that fortunately Naismith the basketball Hall of Fame is all-encompassing so there is just in college menisci was a beast so but absent Tim Tebo as a college football hi final bit here in July so just about a month away EA sports EA has a game called apex legends to free game for people to play the apex legends global series here to chip chip wax to be coming to PNC arena from July 7 through the 10th 45 teams from five regions across the globe will compete in the event which is a prize pool of $2 million which is pretty intense. Apex legends against free game by EA sports or EA's electronic arts is a free game. EA put on the vent recently actually in Sweden that have more than 10.3 million hours of live content watch skews my viewers really 10.3 million hours of live content. Watch what we want to live in in Sweden just people play this video game providing ecological watching people play video. I I realize why there are certain things that make me sound old, but I am willing to accept this zero for the life of me watching people play a videogame. I don't get here's the thing I don't get it, but I understand people people do its live content I'll I know. And if you think it's it's it's competition in the sense that it's a game being played by agile people, even though it's virtual. It's still a game is so competent I get it live and you don't know what's gonna happen that I say may I understand all that, and you're all you're right on every every possible way, but this is this is the time where I accept my oldness just to Miley East Carolina leads coastal Carolina to nothing. Pirates batting in the bottom of the second inning men on second and throughout that I would give you that update go.

Is that where we are and that's where we are all right where to place bets and somebody has to add all linens from the weekend. Next June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford Whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became split or look at the 25th anniversary of the presented by the Carolina listen fine. We are God you requested underrated Elvis Costello very much very underrated. I was still in East Carolina with to nothing lead through two innings over coastal Carolina so good for the Pirates, their manager didn't get ejected real quick about the Scott Forbes things including goblins month, wrote real quick about the North Carolina thing over the weekend like Scott Forbes deserved the ejection even if even if you say he was right in the argument, which I actually believe the umpires got it right. But even if you say he was right in the argument.

They argue too long in the deal.

The end result. There is you're going to get ejected. The two games he got in addition to the ejection just stupid stupid shame on shame on that umpire. I mean sometimes you just let the manager vent will wear himself out.

Sometimes you just let the manager vent.

I was bad, bad umpiring. All right, let's place bets. Dennis is I can't remember the last time I watch a PGA Tour champions event on television. I go to the sass championship and Gary all the time.

Love those people. But watching the champions are known as I did yesterday because I had Jerry Kelly to win at +2500 and he was in a playoff with Kirk Triplett and thankfully it only lasted one whole Jerry Kelly or winter absolutely absolutely processing user – side somebody paid attention because I got hit up on Twitter over the weekend who had Jerry Kelly to win. Now that I am at +3205 thanks to that, +35 actually about anything we want anybody that my last year you were plus +75 I was picked up 75 all right chaos. Let me know. Where are we going today that as you start us off at UA for nations Croatia France today. Drawl +250 that's a good match. Francis try to come back from getting beat at home by Denmark. They are all right. So speaking I'm not going Denmark working to take the memo out.

What we did with the warriors. Once they lost the game going, plus web plus money on the warriors to win that series did the same thing with Taylor Bay lightning. They are now +120 okay to win that series and I'm going to take them at +120 to beat the Rangers in the series go hockey as well. Avalanche Edmonton Oilers. I have kill Makar not only scoring a goal scoring the last goal of going a goal.

Yes, empty net or kill Makar +1800 vent will fulfill here trying to do that weekly car where I could be we are we are trying to get back in there like it all right. I've actually have forgotten who Iceland is playing, but I am going to take Iceland to win their magic +185. I just virus wrote down I saw the plan Albania Albania right Iceland +185 over Albania. Patiently I have Iceland I'm looking at right now +230 okay I like that better +230. That's were talking about. I wonder if one of their ices is not playing. If that number were not. That's a substantial difference. I you go.

All right, my final line showing a tiny hole ride +265 you should do this every day.

I sure don't skip a day. This is the third son had done it at some point you are going to hate her at home against the Red Sox. All right, I'm going to try and buy a win today for an order for the Mets, Mets, by the way, came back and took split.

The four-game series with the Dodgers with a nice comeback when yesterday think the Padres Padres host the Mets tonight in the opener of a three-game set think the Padres might also run 1/2 at +25 Padres minus a run in 1/2 at +180 to beat the Mets and that's where you go, the did you eat did you watch any of the men's national team this weekend. I did not a lot of lacrosse. I thought my negative. I thought the US was really good, should escort in the first half, I thought. Why was good in the second half shoe scored like you could argue that the United States are lost. Why but I would also counter that they should've been ahead in the first half.

They were not. It was a scoreless draw for all of the good that Greg Burkhalter is done as the manager of the United States men's national team.

They haven't beaten a team ranked ahead of not been any him and they are right 15th. It is not that many teams have, but they haven't beaten any him. This is the atom gold shell June 19, 2006, but all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford Whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became split or look at the 25th anniversary of the presented by the Carolina listen fine
