This is the gold shell for the rubber playlist I said I was going to Bible procedures rubber plant because Alison Krauss also gets equal billing on the program, but was Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

They were very good code with amphitheater.

It was under 100° so I'm pretty happy about that. That's a plus.

Never was. We were supposed to get to about 100 yesterday in Raleigh in the Raleigh area never quite got there probably got to about 93 or 94 much cooler. What a relief. What's the difference at that point is, is the difference between like 94 and 100°.

The difference between Sam Donald Baker Mayfield pretty much separately just nothing good about either.

So yeah so anyway you a fun show took a night off of watching games to take in a show with my beautiful wife and we had a great time was very nice cooking with amphitheater is a really cool it really is. She'll venue there we were, we were talking about this yesterday about somebody and asked what would be three things that can improve the area around PNC arena in Raleigh and I mentioned an outdoor music venue at one end of that entertainment district and that's exactly what I was thinking about right at me, not been. It was like the third or fourth time of any cookbook but II think I mentioned Red Hat which is a little smaller, which is in downtown Raleigh and maybe that's more along the size but Kokomo just really really cool. She'll venue and that we plopped down lawn chairs right by the kettle corn nice. It's powerful.

It's a powerful aroma kettle corn is salt you for like you know 100 minutes. It just beat me over the head but it's all right. We had that we had a good time rubber plant still very good. Alison Krauss still very good. So that was fun and it barely.

There were some listeners there last night because I tweeted a picture of Lexi about 1/32 video of wearers sitting whatnot and there were some other listeners like yeah I am glad Doug Leger there. They all they all had better seats and we pilot so let's get this show on the road. We have GPU chips series oh to discuss rehab including a potential clincher tomorrow will start real quickly would be ongoing conversation around the Panthers and their hot pursuit of the generously 25th best quarterback in the Baker Mayfield it could be better to be 24 Latin 24 we get into 95 is 96°. We are exactly so here's Chris Canty who was he and Chris Carlin are filling in for Mike Greenberg during the NBA finals many days anyway Canty former giant former cowboy defensive lineman, former Virginia Cavalier. By the way, says that the Panthers should be should be in hot pursuit. You're the Carolina Panthers.

If your mat rule coach that's on the hot seat looking at the situation in your quarterback room. Mayfield is clearly upgraded so Scott fritter of the general manager for the brothers do the right thing. Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish bull try to extort the Cleveland Browns and make them a piece of the Baker Mayfield salary because calling it would be an honest $19 million for starting quarterback. This is a very reasonable Psalm so going to Baker Mayfield in the building to give your head coach of the best chairs that he has in 2022 will be able to save his job and oh by the way, while you're at it, why don't you get competent quarterback play so that you could take full advantage of what Krista McCaffrey is bringing to the table because there's a shelflife on how great he's going to be in the National Football League as well. I got questions for Chris Canty is none of this happened in a vacuum, you're right. $19 million for starting quarterback is inexpensive in the NFL. Yeah, what about $19 million for a backup that's expensive, I mean no offense to Chris Canty but I don't think you thought that through really don't think you thought that through, because you bring Baker Mayfield in grade Mayfield is an upgrade over Donald.

I don't know that it's to the point where it's putting you over the top right is that tipping the scales writes that shifting the balance of power is not put you in the playoffs, so I just don't even understand the reason the reason for it, but I agree Mayfield is an upgrade that much but you can't just $19 million are starting Gorbach that's nothing. Yeah, but that's really not the point where there's a big yard had $19 million in their starting quarterback. So here's a big just because he's a starting quarterback doesn't mean that he's worth it to get that easement look I keep saying this about Mayfield. He wasn't really given a chance to be good last year because of the injury. But I'm also thinking about where the Panthers are so because it is way more complicated than just paying Baker Mayfield 19 million what's the goal of the Panthers. Yes okay I know what that sneaky brilliant because it's hard to discern what the goal really is. I think you're right, Dennis, were not hundred percent sure based on actions were not 100% sure. I think we all know that the goal is to get yourself at some point, a franchise quarterback and make progress towards being a regular player in the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl.

His Baker Mayfield. That guy is Baker Mayfield the franchise quarterback and I think we'd all say not really. Is he better than Sam Donald yeah but really, how much, but there's not there's. There are other complicating factors here which is why the Panthers first of all, they have salary-cap implications they they wanted to leave themselves 10 or so million dollars of Room during the season to make additions right they wanted to leave themselves that that would be completely wiped out if they go out and get Baker Mayfield anyway, this keeps I keep reminding people of this there isn't anybody in the league wants to help out the Cleveland Browns. Nobody Dan Graziano kinda speaks to this.

You like to have the ground over a barrel. They know they have betrayed him guaranteed to the ground. Don't want to pay them anyway.

If you're the Panthers and you want him minutes at a certain price. It is no way will take a shower Baker Mayfield Wheeler Pam $19 million so you guys should pay whatever, 10, 11, and will pay the rest of the figure is they and the Browns have not been able to come to an agreement on it so I think it's a matter who blinks first. Yet look if the goal get back to the goal is the goal doing the supermodels go to get a franchise quarterback.

Yes his Baker Mayfield. It know that we should really move on right but if you do want Mayfield even if it's just to kick the tires on them for a year I get that I get that but you don't just automatically meet Cleveland's price now you you have to do what's best for you. Again, I don't think Chris Canty thought all the way through. Just I just don't design is another was really really smart guy are golden studio in my mental speed to capital financial advisory group.

We are talking retirement coach. Let's say you have more than $1 million balance in my 401(k) revelations that determine how connect actually come back and bite me because in this is the thing that we did we get to Mirage receiver Rogers, a friend of the desert before you see what's what.

Her head was not there when your financial garage is thinking that that total balance in your 401(k) or IRA is yours. We have two people to want to get a hold of the two uncles uncle North Carolina and Uncle Sam both of you to do some damage to the balance depending on what kind of other income you have loose 40% of your value. So if you're looking at a million-dollar IRA Vegas we were 6000 you.

So how do we get around as we don't get around it could end up in jail to try to do what you can do tax planning to minimize the effect of taxation into the future.

The tax train is coming out and we need to make sure to minimize the effect of the derailment of a financial accountant for the next 10 people will do it at no cost or obligation. Put together your very own tax and retirement plan 800-661-7383 or text Adam to 21000 for coach Pete Arruda made Dennis include a joke in the poll today. Yes, and I actually kept doing this and you might've put in the poll and it's my fault because there is no getting six to thank. It's tomorrow. Oh, I know you you know that III basically throughout my my document here. I've been writing tonight as we had met again last night so like other sports would have another game yet here we don't have a game until tomorrow so is game six a must win for Boston so does that mean but just to can continue at the joke. If the goal is to win an NBA title, then Boston definitely needs to win tomorrow. I think we all agree on that right because 1/4 loss probably detrimental to the pursuit of winning a championship. My question how does Boston reverse the trend of the last couple games where their offense disappears in the fourth quarter and I would even say that if I go. Five remember this correctly, even in game three score 23 points in the fourth minute completely shut down Golden State.

I think they outscored the state 23 to 11 in the fourth quarter, so they might not have needed offense so it didn't really matter, but their offense has gotten worse. Other than game one.

Their offense has gotten worse as the game has worn on Golden State obviously been amazing in the third quarter's and Boston reverse that trend in game five.

Boston was think they outscored Golden State 3524 and the third but they fell apart before.

So how did they reverse that and we have to explore that a little bit today.

Also, if you Boston you executed a brilliant defensive game plan in game five. You shut down Steph Curry like it always bothered me to hear that while Steph Curry had an off night as though he just missed shots no Boston shut him down. It's fair. It really is. It it's a fair statement to make.

Boston was the reason Steph Curry only scored 16 points wasn't Steph. They frustrated Steph into making uncharacteristically new uncharacteristic mistakes. They forced them into attempting shots he should not have attempted especially at times of the game when he did when Golden State had a comfortable lead, and I've always said this about great defense great defense has a cumulative effect because if you are playing great defense possession after possession after possession and then all of a sudden at one point that great defense isn't there. So another words you allow Steph and open shot here and there which didn't happen a lot in game five, but it did happen.

Steph is a light already in frustration mode and the other part of that is that he realizes that what the defense is coming because it's been here all game long so I better get rid of this quickly so it forces you to speed up even when it's not there. And that's what great defense does and Boston's defense on Curry was spectacular in game five. The only problem it didn't work. It didn't get them away.

Yes other players scored a lot of points on it was a 110, 114 knows 104 94 right if you told Boston that you hold Golden State 204 points again.

They take all you we should be able to get to better than 104, Boston's problem is that their offense has gone away and part of that and I will want to be consistent your part of that is Golden State that goes a defense is been outstanding when it's needed to be and it's needed to be that in the fourth quarter.

Boston has to be better. They have to stop turning it over all of that so bouncing back after that game plan that's going to be absolutely paramount again will talk about it more tomorrow June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became split or look at the 25th anniversary of the moon, presented by the Carolina listen now find game one for Lord Stanley's cup tonight.

Let's keep all right. Tampa Bay's looking for a threesome of championship the last team to win three straight titles was that Edmonton is 485 86 yeah, there's the Isle of the Islanders one for the road between 80 and 83 three in a row.

Skip wanted and win another one have to go after the look that up all contact research. Yes, I will just that send us that's it invoked but so temp is looking for to be the first modern NHL dynasty. The first post salary-cap era NHL dynasty was Islanders 80 through 83 Edmonton one 8485 Montréal 86, but I want to get an 87 okay 90 and 90 Calgary one in between right Calgary one in between so Edmonton one 5/7 years that's that's over seven yes to that that 96 of the 86 was I believe Patrick was rookie year right. I was pretty impressed. Anyway, so temp was really setting the standard for what dynasties are about in the National Hockey League and Colorado has not been to the NHL to the Stanley Cup finals since 2001 that by the way, was also Patrick walk. It was also Ray Bork getting traded from Boston to Colorado. This Colorado team has not had great playoff success.

Of course they have had great playoff success. To this point this year that the only thing that matters, but here's where I believe I will talk to John Foresman about this later. Here's where I believe the series has a tipping point Colorado might be front to back. Outside of the goal the better team, yet right elite top line led by Nathan McKinnon elite backend led by Cale Makar, but others their great skaters on the backend.

They have plenty of toughness, but when you get right down to it, and I think Braden point will at least be available for game to he might not play in game one tonight is gonna be a gametime decision but I just don't know how Colorado counters Andre basilisk vessel Lipsky is the best goaltender on earth.

Darcy Kemper or Pablo friend so's is not just not not tempers good is good is good like, but EA vessel is he's not investigations. And here's the thing. I think having watch the playoffs, will we find out Colorado in many ways like Carolina makes their goaltenders look good. Remember, they allowed the visitor trophy winner to walk last year they buy way out were not interested in paying you so he went to Seattle. Kemper had a good year.

France owes looked pretty good at times, are the playoffs, but neither of them are Andre basilisk and vessel Lipsky who has been gettable in game ones of these playoffs although it was in Florida didn't get all the only allowed three goals to Florida and the tires of the four-game sweep, but he allowed five goals in game or the Toronto and he allowed six goals in game one of the Ranger subunit getting you better get them in game one, Colorado.

I think they probably will. But he still got a win for my money is still on Andre vessel Lipsky to figure it out all right what, let's go back to football because DeShawn Watson met the media for the first time since I believe signing the contract with the Cleveland Browns right I have leaving Ms. poking them back in March I believe that was pretty much right after the rent right after signing the deal right somewhere around so and I'm not even sure it was. I don't think they took questions.

I don't believe they took questions at that initial media briefing if you will, but let's just put it all in the context where we are with DeShawn Watson as Watson is meeting the media it comes a time where were finding out that there are more lawsuits coming and the New York Times investigative story done by Jenny prentice where there were 66 different massage therapists booked by Watson over 17 months span. I just listened to a podcast with Jenny prentice who and I know she was I think on Spain and fits yesterday so will bring you that sound but I just listened to a podcast with Jenny prentice and she said yet that 66 and that number could be higher than 66 this she said that's just what we identified anyway, here's prentice from Spain and fits on where we are at this point what we discussed with the ground and not being a major flaw not trying to reach out to the women or their attorney, not trying to hear directly from the people who are in the massage room (enough for me starting to cover the story in March 2021, I didn't know what to make of it. At first, I think we all are kind of caught off guard and for me the first time I woke with someone who had been in the massage room with an and explain his inappropriate behavior in her account. I think that was really eye-opening for me and I think you know you can understand a little bit better.

Some of the behaviors these women they are at play. You can understand part of the pattern back that is established through their account and also the power imbalance that in the room between not a prominent client, a star athlete and a massage therapist dear Z. The other thing about this we hear from John Watson and sent Charles Robinson of Yahoo sports has a really really interesting piece of in which they actually got their hands on a copy of the deposition of one of the investigative officers in the Houston Police Department into eight of the 10 criminal complaints levied against DeShawn Watson member this one front of a grand jury in Houston and then in the county outside Houston and both grand juries declined to bring charges So just say that upfront, but in the deposition of it. As it turns out to, but I'm just citing one the opinions of one of the investigative officers. The question was asked in the deposition. You believe that DeShawn Watson committed crimes and the flat out answer was yes. So I don't know why criminal charges were not brought by a grand jury to different grantors. I don't know what but the investigator into eight of the 10 criminal complaints that she believed the crimes were committed. Know what that said, the NFL doesn't need crimes to be punishment.

They don't it will be itching to see what's going on. As for DeShawn Watson. He's met with the NFL and or about to meet with the NFL and they asked him about potential suspension I can control that I met with the couple weeks ago and did everything that has to do answer every question truthfully that that the asked me, spent hours with people that they brought down and that's all I can do is be honest and tell him exactly what happened and they honor they have a job so have the respect that this will be one to do is cooperate and they have to make a decision this for the lead. I how is he handling all of this and there is some uncertainty here is been tough just trying to make sure that stay balanced my mental just my social life, but I have a great family, have a great legal team and have a great support test here in this organization so when I walk into the building all the stuff is outside. I got a focus on football my teammates that I trust with those guys in the football field and off the field is really just coming to work as a game plan is known see the stars and get everyone on the same page. Don't know if you can be part of the of the start, I just don't if you're the NFL just can't just can't wait. You just can't let it just sit around and sit around and she can't wait for the final product you have enough to make some sort of a statement now and leave yourself wiggle room at the end to adjust accordingly. I don't know why their weight like Panthers minicamp is in today to and were going to go to minicamp with the old guy Darren Gant, Panthers.com will ask him questions next as my is my buddy Brad. You guys will probably would probably know many like as he points out I we were discussing that that run from 84 through 90 glorious time for Canadian hockey 93 was the last title right. I was Montréal 93 so that was it. Since a couple of appearances, but we haven't had one since. But that was that was a great time for Canadian hockey with the Oilers twice Montréal. The Oilers twice Calgary. The Oilers man was at 91 and 92 were Pittsburgh and then 93 was Montréal Ron Francis and the Pittsburgh Penguins all the way back then so I Darren Gant will will chat him up in just a second look. The Panthers have a lot going on. I bring this up with Darren the when you look at what's going on in the in the minicamp when all the conversation around Baker Mayfield in the acquisition of Baker Mayfield and this is on the heels of OTA's where I believe Matt Ruhl said was the best send Arnold ever looked around, I might be thought of overstating that meaning with care with Carolina but send Arnold is having to deal with something that you probably shouldn't have to deal with in minicamp, but in a strange way, I think it's good, maybe not for Sam. I think it's good as a fact-finding mission for the Panthers.

If if Donald has to deal with a whole bunch of things on the field. Whether it's the young offensive line to talk about that with Darren.

I know that the off the field stuff and the uncertainty around Baker Mayfield. I'm not sure that doesn't help Carolina find out during the regular season is just football on the field.

It's everything that goes around. Darren gambled and asked the old guy that question as he joins us from Panthers.com, Inc. this.

Although all of this uncertainty regarding the potential acquisition of Baker Mayfield.

It's giving Sam Donald maybe some other things to get in his way. But what is it that good for the organization to find out if Sam can really handle all of those things or do we already know that he can or can't quite Baker Mayfield who never heard of what it what you may burden now listen businesses hard and everybody walked into it. I think every player I've heard a million of them way over the years that the business might come in to take my job and it that is true for Sam Donald as it is true for about 88 other people on this roster.

Basically any man and every one of them talked a bit weaker said some version of it that you can bind for most of these guys adopt very few players in the league or so truly secure that there never in danger of being replaced. I think you detect The role that way and accept it beyond. Darren Gant is joining us. It isn't in a way to know, so a simulation of added distractions and added outside things that can get you way for the regular season. In turn, Pam. In particular, are mainly open up a laugh even to get the New York Jets I don't think it that, in turn, I mean honestly renew in the April good very first game of the year working to find out if this guy got anything or not and now I get the gold team. It's almost like her printed 345 Park Ave. give a salad all-purpose but some yeah I don't know that it's viscerally going to be any different than that and damages. I can promise you.

Having watched him do his work for a little bit over a year now.

You don't get to it, nor does it show it. Getting to him because most even keel you know regardless what happens on the field. Sam Donald human being who plays quarterback is one of the most regular and even keel people in terms of the way he approached the all all all the other stuff outside the outside of the line exactly right knee. Your approach is the right way you understand how to function in an environment with a lot of distraction. Keep in first-round pick of the New York Jets is not necessarily anything new. Perhaps I played and I played in New York for as many years. He did so that's that obviously cannot toughened you up because I was mad corral looked if there's even any way to gauge their I appreciate you putting that important addendum that one because one of my pet.

Being as old as I am is when we overstate the importance of unpadded drill.

There's no other football to talk about new.

Obviously, this one path. I thought to a trial wide receiver against their of everything he's going to do your professional career or not. Yeah, he's really funny look like a rookie. I think that being that is interesting to me about my corral as he dives right in his light and Sam is also this way you show up early and stay late guy sponsor information.

He's not all that all the stuff you can do right yeah I mean you can't be good at quarterback in June. Be bad at it.

If you have bad habit than that in that from yeah just talking to people around the building being around them a little bit is one of those guys who has the correct approach to this thing and he throws a good ball gets out quick. We knew about him watching an old myth based on you know if you if you had an opportunity he pampers confidential on.com and all are related channel you would know that this coaching staff really believed in his ability it out. They love the arm. They love the accuracy now when he's in the pocket so I think a lot of it can be learning for him and you know in an ideal world doesn't necessarily have to play immediately and I think if equally moderate equally. And that's probably a bad sign on a couple of prompted means either something bad happened or things are going really unfortunately in a number of other Darren Gant asked the old guy we are going to get to one of the things you wrote, most recently as well.

In just a second, but you just been reading about what it what we've seen through again OTA's.

It's hard to tell that Matt Matt rule said that if you call new has a lot to learn, which is obvious for a rookie is there is no inclination that he won't be the starting left tackle game or nobody at nobody actually believes that yeah I I think there is a natural and you see it every year I feel like an old old person, but I've heard 30 years war.

We got to get the broken and slowly there's a rookie can notify right off the bat me when you use peppers walked in the door early on. Learn you know you drafted him start at I would be again. That's another one of the situation, but I think if Vicki is not starting at left tackle on September about whatever against the Browns been that's probably a bad time for some reason or another and there is no indication I mean then talking to the vet about him. He's another one of those guys he got drafted where he got drafted reason you forget it football and any good at football a because he is incredibly gifted but be also get the right mindset for me and he's a kid that works and I think he's going think you can be all right. That's my mission obviously never know how they think going to work out but every indication we got news that he has the capability to be that kind of an eye, and I hate putting unfair expectations on a typical equally dispersed enough okay but at least in terms of the talent he already has situation is being brought into you got the opportunity to be that Jordan Gross type guy. Not that level player necessarily, but a guy you put in a spot and let him man for 618 years.

I think there's an argument to be made as good as Jordan Gross was the we look at the athlete that Econo is who knows if he reaches his potential. Maybe he can take that position even higher. Like it's at some heard somebody is going to be better than Jordan Gross. That would be a phenomenal development for him but I called no not question and listen look beyond that again.

It was discussed on pampers.com and then pampers confidential highest rated player on their board and were not the only team that had been ranked that way. So I think it is not in a fairly new splash that a lot of people think got a chance to be really good at football and I think you probably have the opportunity to do it sooner rather than later so let me ask you about something else you wrote. I believe it was on Monday about Frankie losing what I want people to hear cranky. I know you do.

I want people to hear this. First, this is Frankie Lulu in the in the defensive huddle firing up the steam, we had to believe any of that out. No, we do not. Okay, that's perfectly good and we did it too late.

Now what is that I know the words you can't say on the radio out of those words are Samoan, but they are perfectly clean for radio audience in it for you to fired up the guys have a visceral on when Frankie starts breaking it down and yeah I think a lot of people know it is the hock because they'd seen the New Zealand rugby called me from Samoa when his culture is called the Metallica could lead same thing Frankie get you guys going and when he breaks it down.

You see God's eyes light up because again, how do you not get fired up when you hear cranky breaking it down like that, but that's also the way he played me and he he is one of those to use one of my favorite old football clichés C) fire God and that's how you play football so you can break it down like that and and it's cool to hear him talk about his code to his old high school coaching to all who taught him that in taught him about the culture and everything and wanted me to have one candidate you're quite talk about it because you know I do think you know football talks about that brotherhood. The guy next to you mentality and put that thing all about Brian Burns as I have no idea what he saying, but I like it. So here's my question about Luke like it found dope on the lookout. I like elements. The is he just a guy. Is he just a feeling, or is there something more there, because it wouldn't be the first time in the history of the NFL that somebody we only thought was good to play a bit role became more than right and let me preface this goal by saying I am not predicting that Frankie will will and up in the Pro football but drinking first coat first position coach in the NFL with the Jets with Kevin. Great Kevin Green was five years into the league before he really became a regular right with the ramp and really became an every down contributor and the feared pastor eventually became. I say that by means of cranky aggression rather than his destination. You know Frankie is five years into the league now and they are still experimenting with role. They're still trying to see where Beth and giving him a lot more stuff in the past you. Harold fire God pass rusher. Now they're turning him into a linebacker and Nikki. You know he has the ability to play multiple spots which is in a lot of flexibility you heard them talk about that a lot over the last couple years but if Frankie can do a EMC that it frees up Jeremy Chan to do X, Y, and Z and anytime you give yourself more options. Obviously that helps all but he is a guy who is still developing and growing as a player in I wonder to be honest with you, and in all fairness, I think there is the danger of you reach the point of diminishing returns with Frankie because when he's on the field. 40% of the snap you get 40 high 47 of the highest density snap you're going to see what happens when network on 60, 70% will find out this year and it's all in him to continue to grow and develop like you know everything we'd seen so far and everything that they believe internally is that you got it can do a little bit down again asked the old guy follow him on Twitter at Darren Gant with TT's freshly talent Panthers.com.

Stay out of the heat. If you can do that created a moment ago. I think the devil is participating in minicamp this weekend is a trial player's is so hot and sure is ridiculous. I thank you my friend will talk to you soon yeah manner by faith that you got a Panthers.com. This is the atom gold shell June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became 25th anniversary of the presented by the Carolina listen
