Financial capital financial taste for more filling in for the out of gold show. Speaking of villains is backup day, but not really. It's matinee date you got.

The understudies are red if you like theater. You might buckle over the next three hours because nobody reads more sports talk more theater to sports than when Jonathan read in a supermarket together is always an honor to be sitting across from you and we got our good friend Graham now associate producing in the back is out already throw your great ideas wrapped up in attainment and I'm sure he will continue to do stuff or how to become that you statewide across the state of North Carolina where one of the talk about in depth today is a piece of legislation that's right the first minute were going Broadway, sports and politics. I'm a true believer. If you listen to me on the show before you know this.

I'm a true believer. The best sports radio the best radio in general. This form of entertainment people are being 100% authentic right not pretending to like things they don't like. Not pretending to know things they don't know about. That's why gold I do slightly different shows, but we are both being 100% authentic out of gold as I referred to in the. The opening not only a golf door he's a baseball dork he's fully like football and basketball dork. We become a dork for the football gospel in this area. I did my biggest of these were those guys who could come in and like he really does want to see every NBA and NHL playoff game is happening in the night, and he talks badly breaks down and he is being 100% authentic and that's what's awesome right because you can tell that's like he's like you got Lisa together next to the bar and you're like, I'm glad they made that play goes like we talk about the crazy play is your networking and that your offenses were.

That's were pretty fantastic. I am not quite as strongly sports dork I'm a sports fan and so I got some sports takes something we want to talk about today but I would be a 100% authentic with it. Which is why when he gets to sports gambling and bills making their way to the North Carolina legislature.

I get super dorky right I don't just want to know when it passed I want I want the equipment of like the recruiting rankings out of the like which long-term representatives and sent representatives and senators are lined up on this thing. Who the sponsor this bill. If you are a legislative dork like I am. It's actually two bills. That's one of things that were to dork out about being tied together dry legalize gambling in the state of North Carolina. If you are a legislative dork. As I kind of them. This thing is been fascinating because what we hear, mostly in politics these days Rand of doing other things were. I need the right answer from you. Okay, but you give it to me if you don't get it right.

It says where all politics right now or what like we think about politics divided divided polarized writer one so when you think about getting a bill when we hear with the general public. We hear about the big bills that are going through Congress right and usually it's like only if you got the majority or even figure try to pass some bill that that's a big deal.

And in that case it's like how many you got in for your majority and how many can you turn from the other side to get it right and that's like where the conversation starts if the Republican controls that you Congress. It's like what bills they can try to get through. Can they hold every single one of their Republicans and maybe get a democratically whether it's Supreme Court nomination along whatever and that's actually the case in a lot of major legislation right now right a lot of jobs.

We know which party is to take up. Which side and how it could be and you can know about the numbers, which party controls which out. Sometimes we've known you know if a party has a super majority words like sometimes it matters in our state.

It happens that one party controls the legislative branch and another controls the executive branch has the ability to pizza so it matters right this bill is one of the few where I get I should save these bills that does not play by those rules. There are Democrats that are for. There are some Democrats that are against their Republicans are for durable goods and against it because of that it has taken an instant continues to take as it works its way through committees and the. The houses themselves this week with Vince the house. Currently, the builder debated past the Senate is taken a path I had insider college, a jujitsu legislative jujitsu to get this thing through because it just doesn't work the same way most bills do work. Everybody from one party line up for and it can can can you pick off a couple others find the interest the other people that may have the environmental concern person you may be able to prepare pullover to your environmental issue, even if it's against their party.

This is not play by those rules and there are competing interests at stake, so people don't like it for moral reasons. Some people don't like it for money reasons were. There's a lot of the reason some people do like it for money reason some people do like it for freedom reasons. They think people should be able to free to choose their own vices even if they are not necessarily healthy things we recognize the gambling just like alcohol or the other things can.

We are free to do can have problems and in our society we say people have to have free choice. It's all these different competing interests have lined up. It may be perhaps put us at the doorstep of getting this bill passed into the Gov. where he said he will sign it so we really nerd out some on that day, including having a guest that is a counsel for the sports betting Alliance guy name Scott Ward is good become enough to join us and then obscure dry nerd out a little bit more, so I've I apologize. I could only be authentic right round red and I might talk about the other Tony's because they were this past weekend. We got that up for the vote on twitter… Write the fan we always do what he had to go to the voters choose segment we are trying to push them in the direction that we could be more authentic and as well I might, I am into the Rand. I may be a little Debbie downer today I one of the exhibits in this Monday when I was on the show. One of the things that I think we always underrate estimated sports is that these are humans who are living lives and have real world problems just like you and I do in their their lives and we've all had a bad day at work and sometimes the bad they were.

The fall of the day were your work is very important right or like your home life blows up and you got the biggest meeting of your life the same day you just if your of your like blown up a dog that's life. If it was six months later happens at the wrong time. So that happens to athletes. They may have the worst day of their life at work or get in a fight with their teammate or have their home life blow up on them and so we would not discuss that issue and that my coming to play the show come and play in today show as well, but will try give you at least a little bit of sports and other folks enjoy it and we got a big Stanley Cup game tonight which I'll advise on so let's get this thing sports was at least out of the gate legislation because it is more clearly related in their cross paths with just Joe over you send this to you yesterday and he's speaking with mornings like I got a glimpse of what sports really looks like in a legalize sports gambling world when he said he was visiting down Louisiana it's just all lined talk all day every day which I don't think necessarily has to be but probably is where a lot of the advertising dollars are coming as they like to talk that stuff but I will give talks more sports gambling because it sports people.

It is sports. We got the NHL tonight game for lightning avalanche. We got a series Monday we set it don't count. They may lightning out there fall behind in three of the four series of the swept one of the other two that they started out behind they came back, don't count the lighting out yet and used to be like growing up talking to me was the sport were home ice matter. The least where like maybe a game seven. You might say I there is a huge big advantage in being at home that it seemed a lot a wash right like the teams with all of the place. I feel I got on the percentages in front of me going totally by feel, and certainly because of influence by the Eyecare letter again for your vital life meant something a little more this playoff than usual. Right.

So once again it's a cliché we make fun of it over and over and over. This might actually be a series where it doesn't start until the home team lose the game will see if the timber lightning to get it done. I understand. I don't think I watched to the game understand there was some some riffraff from hitting late that negative curricula yes it could be continued over this, but both teams insist that they can't be concerned with such things there only sticking to the hockey so I'm sure that won't play into it all will see the NHL's keeping it NHL-ish we had the NHL awards last night. You know what to complain about Randall or don't you.

I do, but I'm already throwing NHL awards out because Jacob Slaven didn't win the lady thing trophy earlier this year, so back to back they know exact about being studied. I needed back. I think we need him back to back things will get feels like in in that the one for just being a nice guy at insulated big nice guy and poor Jacob.

He had no last year he wanted a flat.

Two penalty minutes that she had like six sets risen as Roger set reaches crippled instantly off the rails. Yes, one of the reasons I care less about the NHL awards is that the hurricanes didn't get any. But I do want to commend the NHL. I don't like people doing the attention grabbing one award a day for two weeks. Baseball does this football does this thing the MBA.does this to. I hated I hated and sports ready. We played right into another story that we got one NFL morning talk about you NHL. They do it right. It's all awards night cure all our awards. So therefore I might even give them a pass on the thing that I always complained about, and that is sorry. I don't know what your Ward names me okay I didn't study NHL in school.

I did not grow up versed in what the heart versus the vets that was versus the cons by all that stuff so I would do my best year I'm assuming by context that the Hart trophy because the first one listed is the MVP and also pretty sure I heard them say Austin Matthews name a lot as the best player this year, so here's your heart trophy winner. Thank you for your cryptic award names NHL heater MVP. Nothing wrong with the assumption that American English. He is your MVP and looks like he even larger between him economy David the second again no came to the top 15 so I hate this awards are next up the Noris vote Japanese about this one.

Rand Grant, which got for me of the Noris award.

I don't speak I don't speak hockey's. What is the Noris award. I'm looking it's awarded annually to the NHL's top defensive player of the year, you know, I know that's not and I know what is being because of Jacob Slaven hi Noris winner is Cal see that I don't have to send the names to care about it. Carol Makar very go to our page that of anybody in the top 15 of this award there is there is number nine Jacob's well okay came in ninth passionate get on their no hotel, no we have the best evening we allow the fewest goals yet, but as a matter, as far as James Noris goes apparently I the Ted Lindsay award winner was Austin Matthews. The Calder trophy award winner was Morris side got you on Ted Lindsay. It's chosen by your peers as the most outstanding player for the regular season. I thought you think what you think I got the T by your peers and it's the guy, the person who parked his right part of the best-dressed award.

That's what it was but James would back my with some of those awards and what's Calder trophy is a great question you asked what I like structures that little bit walking type into the Google's Morris cider what it it's probably not a relative either, but I can tell you that because Siders a rookie of the year. Since Jarvis finished 13th their help. He got 1/4 and fifth place, vote congratulations to Seth. Well done. There and the beds.

The trophy we got that one is key for the year are our boy Igor Schuster.

Can we know all too well when that one in a runaway Frederick Anderson finished fourth. Congratulations to him with a nice damaging the fourth that's going to leave for Hopewell's now you think no disrespect out to run the suspect. But that's going to be my mother made a difference.

Those are your deed for your your NHL awards. I'm trying to learn the ball heart Noris is defenseman Exelon yes Noris defenseman Calder is rookie and then says that is going and Ted Lindsay is a famous Seinfeld character not sitting Ted Lassa Ted Lassa know he's chosen by your peers. Most outstanding player highest level of respect and ultimate peer review so excellent congratulations NHL winners and enjoy the game tonight. Next up getting out the gate drunk is retiring.

I think there's a sounder for the next up, that's okay.

I thought it might be Rob Gronkowski retiring I finishes with. I think the third most touchdowns among tight ends and read and play that many seasons, but the thing that impressed me even more than his regular-season tight in touch. Our rankings he was second all time in playoff touchdown receptions now. It helps when you're playing a lot of games. The play also jobs he had the opportunity to do but Jerry Rice is first was games that's improved rock was just one of those dudes where at his best.

He was unstoppable right. It seemed like you could know the play was going to him you knew Tom Brady was getting a deuce of the truck off of his looks again today was throwing a rock we did anyway, grunge is bigger these to me that that tied into the equivalent of the wet wind like people they don't know anything about the game are like that hockey gold and seemed very big when you get a sumo wrestler put the pads put the whole thing right when you see drunk you like one we just get like what why when we go find 16 dudes and be like you don't even have to be that good. You should be talking I was. You gotta be able to rent right rubble right but maybe was just bigger than everybody else used his body is like a big dude box it out but it was just taller than you could put the ball places where other people to get it then you couldn't tackle them like the big kid that like it. Fifth grade in your plan playground football and it looked like he was a 16-year-old play with €11. Why would you ever see those they come up like tick-tock or YouTube videos were you do have the like abnormally tall.

Even if this person isn't good to be a D1 bow basketball player but did you happen to be the legit 12-year-old who 66 yeah, and every other 12-year-old look like I did when I was 12 was like I was a kid. Nine. You know if you got like it looks what appears to be an 18-year-old boy gets a nine-year-old when reality there about 12. That's what Gronkowski ought to look like playing its defensive backs so you got the big question that I put you down the red he's retired once and it didn't take so why do we believe him when he retires again. Do we believe this absolutely not. I say like week 11 week 12.

Brady gives him a call and says that you are make one more run and he's like sure because he can do that and I don't know how hard or easy. That is to do I don't I do think there is some level for a player like drunk like you could do that, especially with the connection he has with Tom Brady with a no like a reed route right like it's not just when you and your 11 run route receivers give you undercover you knew what I know he does this work I do that because that will do this right drunk was notorious in the red zone to just not run his route to get open, so if that's what a lot of your flow is in and you are you not coming in the first series with a scripted out the 12 plays and they worked on him for eight weeks. Whatever. Like maybe don't grow again but I was like when cam Newton came and didn't have the playbook is like your jobs to be be bigger and run faster than people and Indians_twice like that. I think drug could do that. It seems like Brady would be the guy that can make that call will see if he does studio in my man Coach Peter route with the capital financial advisory group were talking retirement coach.

I'm a simple guy but I like colors. Tell me how I can colorcode money and get ready for retirement. I like colors to my chores.

I like graphs I don't like just buzzwords what we try to do is we try to break down all those words on your statement.

All those numbers into three colors red, green, yellow people amazingly come in and most of the money is in the red cat again.

I want that I read means high horsepower, potential elements high loss potential.

You have to get the give-and-take you can want to do that or that yellow means liquid money get any time stuck on anything green. If you safe growth but also gives your lifetime income as we get closer to retirement.

We need some green accounts with the green zone we call it Baghdad result was important appraisal support for you to next 10 people out of the thousand dollar value golden ticket put together for you very own total plan that has a green so it's a traffic light. I hope it's green for you 800-661-7383 or text Adam to 21000 Coach Peter route. Next up together gaily found sounder only made one up. I came out yesterday but I did want to hit on Brooks Leaving for the live tour because follow-up announcement to that was the British open or the open. If you care the open championship announced, much like the U.S. Open that they would not be boring live tour golfers from their events. What it looks like it's come down to now admit I'm surprised they didn't do enough research into how much money these dudes were actually going to be basically built some these golfers Scrooge McDuck vaults and filled them with gold cords and they said, go swimming, boys.

So maybe if I consider that really put into perspective of like the note like this is me this is not a big payday. This is like more money than you've made in your career cumulatively to this point to the point where you get where a person has to look at and say yeah I don't know how close to Phil Mickelson is to be the grandfather, whatever. But like start, you see multiple generations of your family above and below you would like I can take care of everyone. Right. So with that. We talked about at length what has come down to though is I do think there is still something about the competition. I do think the will to prove yourself matters to love these guys and that's why look like it was easy to say oh she's could be Sergio for the past their prime dudes there get a go but you make the payday because they know don't really do not really compete for JB to tell him till they got a master's attention while trying when there but they know that that their pastor compete with its pricing with Brooks. I'll say I was surprised but I do wonder I don't know if there's a path for the majors to cut them off by just saying no you got Dr. to come to U.S. Open as a qualifier like bright evening they may make it harder then those dudes may have to show up at the same first round things that you and I we get our handicaps down near Lou below about a little bit but again that we can find somebody in the out of gold probably one point had a handicap that could have qualified for U.S. Open and he can be said that there next Dustin Johnson try to play right but of those that do do that. I don't see a cute mouth will bring to draft an interesting thing that he said he had heard the sounds very intriguing to me of one of the reasons they got Schwartz soul, and especially Sergio private come anyway. The bigger target like much llama guys who are less tied to be detoured to get as many green jackets as they can in the live is because those guys in theory. Traditionally, the masses could do whatever the heck they want and change it into those guys have had former champions have lifelong Egyptians to play until you're politely told you're too old which was a husband and a couple cases and if they get enough get there half the former champions in their stable of a live tour. The Masters will just do not want to have egg on their face and not have have all these pictures of former champions always form attribute dinners and then have to dudes can't come they don't then I can want that so I will be adjusting the majors will I think will play a big of a major role. I think it will be a factor in how it shakes out some these dudes and whether the next line of dudes might make that step or even the next generation younger dudes. We will zealot forces who might think. No way because there like 24, 25, then maybe they start to get it 2829 if a better idea of what life but it looks like right so again I'm not disappointed or surprised that the British Open said the Brooks And all the other live tour golfers were qualified to play the jib chip. I do think that when it comes to qualifying one of the things the live tour is seeking is world ranking points and I think that the world golf organization. If get exact names rubbed of the world ranking is totally within the rights to to not allow live golf points because there are no cut events because they're only 54 hole events and use it to say, because the fields are somewhat weaker but now they have beef them up a little bit but there still is something to the depth of a PGA tour field right of like this of dudes filling out the live tour events would just get destroyed on the PGA Tour.

Whereas there are plenty guys finishing 15 through 45 of the PGA Tour just played credible golf that would dust the back Little golfers will another name just as young dudes of the soldiers we know because there from North your lot or they would go to schools or whatever, but it's the majors are going to be the tipping point, one way or another, and whether one could step up and and and cut them out if the Masters says live tour guys are out.

That is a huge game changer and I might even give cover for the other ones to try and completely bar them, but if they'll get accepted it comes down to how these guys qualified. If that is hard and even impossible for some guys that might make young golfers think twice even if you did. I mean it's just when you stopped about the money.

I know I got a Taylor you just get the $200 million.

Whatever even Sergio isn't getting that much but is get the door lock is a big name a brings a green jacket with the finally getting out of the gate.

What I started the show with it is the sports gambling bill making its way through the North Carolina legislature is in the house this morning. This morning was in front of the house finance committee and I will play your little bit of audio there was instant he was out goes down Senate Bill 688 passed the Senate and the way it's written and because of again will we talked about earlier. It's not just wall the Republic is a four and they got to convince the Democrats. All the Democrats for the documents couple buckets. There are different alliances being made different appeals being made to different interest groups to try get this thing through because that Senate Bill 688 which passes and it has to be passed exactly as is in the house right it cannot be changed so that what they did is they got city Bill 688. It's got there the past that any changes then Senate Bill 38 which is moving through the exact same time was basically a bill that they passed in the Senate hollowed out all the writing of right in all the corrections anything that anybody needs to see changed in 688 is actually to be and 38, the basically passive one at the other. You have saved the get through. Then the pair of bills will spell out exactly what all the details are more talk of some of those details with Scott Ward here just a second, but it's just go to see again all the difference alliances that are taken place. The work took place by the seed that's kind of what the process is stretched out. It's what makes North Carolina an interesting state. Often times in Senate elections in presidential elections because lots of beer you don't know. There are dangerously our state. You got some conservative leaning Democrats. The blue dollars or you might have some progressive Republicans so we are state is always been interesting but not quite as much a mix of that but again a bill like this doesn't fall under what the normal rules are for all the parties line up together.

It's taken a lot of work to get through again source abide it work gets out of this. Got it just legislative jujitsu to make it work, but it did pass a finance committee is one that edged the point that one player we got audio from that here is that the house finance committee, one of the bills being one of the amendments being attached to the city.

Bill 38 that as of the corrections is allocating some money to go to the athletic departments for HBCUs and that sort of what the verse was explained to build a sense for HBCUs, which led to this interesting exchange and finance committee write questions for members of the actor's arm often recommend Mr. just curious as to when UNC Asheville became an HBCUs represent Hunter you want. Take that are actually Pembroke as well. Mr. great reps of Moffitt like you for your eloquent question.

As you know it is not an HBCUs.

However, it is an institution of higher learning here in the state and when they compare those athletic programs at those smaller schools. Those were the two most need in addition to the HBCUs so that was a request we had and were trying to. That is just a great exchange and and and as I believe that was rubs in the Perry laid out the it was aiming to help fund lower funded athletic department in the state, most of which included the HBCUs and when they looked UNC Asheville and using Pembroke sort of had at the same level of funding is HBCUs. They said let's include those as well but does make for great exchange and the thank you for your eloquent question.

I don't think you meant that earnestly Anderson and there still some people I don't know they got it as that question was one of the stills of people that are our oppose this bill for different reasons.

Get some morally some money while some people think were moving too fast moving too slow because other states are already getting revenue that might be North Carolina with the few minutes we have remaining in today show. I wanted to send a little bit of a shot at attribute on Monday show.

I ended the show by thank you for the day after Father's Day and I and Job.

I think my dad for giving me the gift of sports without any burdens. My dad said this, he never told me what Tina had to pull for what sport I should try to be good at it. What I want to be. Do you show sports because the community the camaraderie being on a team.

An important thing, and he always supported the local schools. He thought that was just thing of being part of community pulling for the TV people for there is one thing that my father gave me that I had no choice of being and that was a North Carolinian, but I grew up in a military family and moved around many different places grubs go places and then went to college when boarding school them in college was in the Army some time.

He was an adult he never really had a home and he chose Raleigh North Carolina as his own, not just for the city of Raleigh but for the state of North Carolina and one of the things that are the probably taken for granted is that's one thing that he chose for me is to be a North Carolinian. He it's so cliché, but he loved to spend time in the mountains specifically asked County.

We made it to the beach every year.

A lot of years in topsail but we spent time exploring Ocracoke in the down Oriental on the rivers we went to grandfather around the Blue Ridge Mountains, been to historical sites across the state gave me a great love of parks in the outdoors. We sailed on correlate and like Waccamaw as well and being a North Carolinian is it's it's on the site being tall in basketball. It's kind of my best skill and it's something I've nothing to do with.

I just happen to be taller than that got people out there being a North Carolinian is something that I can never aspired to do or done on my own here.

My mom gave that to me as a blessing, and the state and its people been great for me and I would be sitting here talking on radio across the state of North Carolina without him give me the gift my father passed away yesterday morning and the gift that he gave me of of being able to be a North Carolinian is maybe the most important thing that gave me on glad that I got a feeling on the show. Monday happen to be that he got to listen to me before he signed off and he got a listen we sign off and give a little tribute to him probably more than I ever did in person. So thanks to my dad for a lot of things you gave me, basely provided me everything I ever needed, but being a North Carolinian is something that I'm proud of that is enriched my life fully and it's something that I had nothing to do with he and my mom got to me so tell the baby love you love them hug him and thanks them drivers are switching save with progressive save over $700 on average and no savings and imagine what you could buy the savings from switching to progressive 30 years ago to buy tickets to the championship game between those two teams that didn't exist 30 years ago. Yeah I'm a big Alaska palm trees which is a team now in the future so switch to progressive and save big because so savings can add up in the country's national annual average in terms of customer survey to see the progress of an clinically potential
