Capital financial is now from CBSSports talk whatever it is we want to talk in the middle of summer. I have really talk and being drafted.

It's tomorrow like I should have more in need to talk about that but I don't really I would have if bright guys girlfriend would come on here a little of them. I'm I'm interested in asking questions about about.

I got nothing for college football on June what what are we, June 24 June 22 I got nothing forgot about as excited as I am about ECU and she stayed kicking out the season I can get actually hyped about until like Wednesday before the game.

We will still talk some fun stuff into Patterson chip still open court setting again before I think I he has been at sporting events, and of course he's going to be given the best seating that's absolutely possible because he is Stevie wonder. I think that I've also reached the point in the Stevie eight blinds controversy where I don't care attorneys to society to music to my own personal life be like if it was a fraud does not matter blind or not blind fingertips slaps blind or not blind every piece of music along the way like the iconic five album run all of it is better than a lot of people who can see the so does not matter to me, even if it is a giant conspiracy because the final product is worth it and I would very happy to go along blind or not blind Stevie wonder still got my book, yes, but I'm not touching that the blind or not blind. I'm taking it as the blind Stevie wonder you guys were kind about him going to the final Florida like I could be blonde still want to go.

The thought of like if you want to be a game and you truly are blind you want to enhance your others that you would be able to hear the game live in front of you feel the rhythm of the ball. The courts are like other makes perfect sense for blood Stevie wonder to be courtside washing the day that's all that I appreciate the support their course it was all that was in the wake of the air church move right now as I was your favorite if there church that made that move. I would necessarily make me upset, like it was I had to go to the very very top in terms of the musical artist were I would've had to get to go to that concert and then all the sudden I couldn't go because they had gone on a selfish endeavor. I would wish in the same way that I don't I don't actually want to give an eye exam, Stevie wonder, because I don't even want to know in that same way. Stevie wonder you could do whatever you want to do because your contributions to my life and to society as a whole have been strong that you can do what you want to see that you and I've enjoyed greatly as sports fans that you cover professionally of the Atlantic Coast conference in the PGA Tour have two similar outlooks for the future and that they know they're not disappearing anytime in the next year or two, but because of some economics surrounding their sport.

Things don't look grades or is great for their future as they might have your five years ago for the PGA.

They are now competing with a tour with bottomless pockets that doesn't care about making a profit and pulled away more guys that I know I expected to get undressed with the money. I'm not sure exactly they expected and now kind of good BF to be begging the majors to keep guys out to make the PGA Tour seem like a compelling thing about you able to the ACC and not just the ACC but that just like it's not just the PGA Tour.

I guess that probably involves the European tour. They try to want to be crowned by the live either the ACC much like the pack 12 and the Big Ten. To some extent are watching the SEC suck into big sports media entities in Oklahoma and Texas grow even bigger and the payouts are getting that though the gap is widening between what the SEC of what everybody else is making which entity is more in trouble and may need to make some changes or do something about it faster. The PGA or the Atlantico's governance, PGA Tour, and it's not even close. The efforts that are being made are reactionary, they are slow they are there that panicky flailing's that you would see from somebody who is been running a body of water and is not confident in their swimming ability.

They are just looking around. They are trying to jack up their purses. To me, that is news that is been coming out today here and all of it feels as though they believed that the live golf tour was never going to be able to get its act together. They believe that the live golf tour was nothing more than a threat. And now that we are starting to see major champions continue to leave the PGA Tour and just rumors all over the place around among PGA Tour players and their whispering to each other will hurt sometimes and go hurt so-and-so's going to go and that's what's led to a lot of bad reporting a lot of rumormongering is just because there's so much uncertainty and serve as the PGA Tour is trying to say okay well this one tournament was 8 million will now make it 12 million to 77.50 that's not good compared to the hundred million dollars signing bonus at some of the stars are getting your own even after look at the what money you can make from the encore's earnings where there is zero cut and only 48 competitors and bigger purses than anything that you have on the PGA Tour. Just agreeing to be a part of it is generating more revenue than more money for some of these players and they were making on course throughout the entirety of their careers. I think that the thing didn't you mention the major championships so Masters winners Masters exemption for life.

I don't think that the Masters is going to tell Dustin Johnson he can't come play in the master sounding Masters going tell Patrick read he can't complain. The Masters U.S. Open winners have exemptions for 10 years.

I think that until 2028 Brooks Kappa to be able to compete in every single U.S. Open. I think it's all 2030 Bryce edition Bo is going to be able to compete in every single U.S. Open the majors and I can keep these guys out Geiger I I think what's interesting though is that the official the world golf ranking points is a way that you can determine a lot of tournament field in top 50 automatically qualified, that's often a one of the common cuts there and we don't know yet whether the official world golf rankings are going to award world ranking points to these live golf tournaments even if they do I think there's something to be said for being at a competitive disadvantage for major championship golf when you are not playing competitively as often and when you do the tournament format is shotgun start no cut and only 54 holes, so I think that even if world golf rankings at a fractional value because there's no way you go point for point when the DP world tour which was formally known as European tour when the PGA Tour and when all of these other certified tours are all playing 72 hole championship golf at the cotton hundred 50 player fields. You can't go point for point there 17th Pl. finish in the live golf tour is not can be worth the same. But even if fractional points are awarded, allowing some of these world players who will see their ranking plummet to be able to continue to earning points. I think that they will be at a big time competitive disadvantage not having played 72 holes not having run through the routine U.S. Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick discussed after winning how important consistency is for his own preparation in his own success that the same routine that he did for the Canadian open was the same routine that he was going to for the U.S. Open which the same routine that he's going to do it every tournament for the rest of the schedule and that trying to just parachute in. From what I am calling and entertainment product.

I got I want to be put on the list here come to protect me and my family. But this is an entertainment product into that point if were just talking about an entertainment product doesn't Bryson make sense of someone who would be attracted to that. Doesn't Brooks Kappa somebody was shown through his own Instagram presence that he's interested in a lot more than golf seem like he would be attracted to that. So for right now it is just the a lot of the names that you might expect, they do have major championships and that is intimidating for the PGA Tour but the PGA Tour is not just to be able to haphazardly increase purses and then be able to fix this.

The PGA Tour is going have to really look at itself and figure out what it's able to do for its current members because among the membership among the PGA Tour professionals there still uncertainty and I think a lot of whispering about Leah hurt so-and-so's going hurt so-and-so's going. Oh well, maybe we will, maybe I will be able to go outside and PGA Tour definitely over the ACC are the first secular to lose touch on the ACC would obviously you think there is less danger than the PGA Tour, and I think you made good points there. What is the exposure right now for over how much worry is there for non-SEC conferences and they the big kids on a slightly heavy coating but much different footing. Now I what I think it your your same big 12. It's ACC packed all big 12 are in this lower tier and then the way the models are set up in knows about financial models meet she who knows what the financial world can be like in a year.

Innovative they are projecting that 5 to 10 years down the line.

The per school payouts are going to be dealt that per school you're going to be making twice as much and this is in the tens of millions of dollars range. If you're an SEC and Big Ten school. Then, if you are in ACC big 12 impact of school. The ACC signed this huge deal with ESPN once they got Notre Dame on board and they said we stretch this thing out 2036 Notre Dame is going to join a conference before 2036 is going to be the ACC. Based on this agreement and at the time that grant of rights in that agreement.

I was among the many experts that were out there saying all this is secured the ACC from another wave of conference realignment what it is also known as it is secured a massive financial gap between the ACs.

The ACC and the SEC, which just recently renegotiated its media rights deal in the Big Ten which will be announcing a new media rights deal in the coming so where they stand now is only what will you do about that.

Like do you worry that I will know what how it would fall apart would be a school trying to Leah about allowing you how that works grade of rights was belike if you continue to fall that for Bob financially does it look like something you have to change or do you just go all all in a drive to get Notre Dame to join you.

Basically, the only thing that can significantly increase your revenue it in a short time span. So I think I love very very much look forward where less than one month away from ACC football kickoff and I will very much look forward to the opportunity to be able to do a little bit more digging and have some more conversations to see where the league stands because I don't know where the league stands on the 10 year 15 year vision of what college sports looks like because there is the Division I big break away the football only, we are going to go play by different rules. We are not going to put a cap on how many scholarships you can give out am using these as exam right right right On how we scholarships you can get out when I can put On how these players can be paid week is been suggested that maybe even they take on an employee status the same way that a graduate student or you work.

Student type situations where there gonna be able to be compensated not just her name, image and likeness, but by the schools themselves and that's why I think the ACCs question is philosophical because there are members of the ACC that I do think would sign up for a new football first a future that involves increasing the spending at the university level on college football.

I think their universities in the ACC that would opt not to do that and where the ACC is a conference decides to land. If we start to move towards creating essentially a new subdivision right where the FBS split away from the FCS a.k.a. division one a and division one AA. What if there was a you know a league above one a and it had about 40, 48, 436 effort be some around 50 or 60, but it was the schools that would decide the yes we believe that there should be limitless. Spending on football, we shouldn't Scholarships that the disadvantaged students.

They should be able to make money that they want to make and I I just think that the opinions in the room at the university president level and at the athletic director level are so divided on where that where the ACC stands. That's why say it's more of a philosophical question than a money question because if you break away to this new world where you're essentially playing at a championship level with some of these other football first universities, you're probably signing up for a new college football playoff that probably has a new television deal that probably comes with a little bit of a bigger paycheck and I can be able to catch the SEC or the Big Ten. But when you ask, what are the ways that you can close the gap with those conferences. While it it would be by agreeing to sign up for a new world is going to be very, very expensive, but also a little bit of a prestige play because you'd be sitting at the big boy stable and probably get a little bit more money for his wealth to Patterson CBSSports and the pick six podcasts on the other side will talk to him about sports betting which another talk a lot about on the big six podcast but also, since it is a job sorry I'm sorry I always get you birds mixed up will bring to the pick six podcast which we also support the cover three podcasts is to Patterson's college football podcast. My apologies did and I will hear from my man, Coach Pete, the router with the capital financial advisory group. We are talking retirement.

I coach simple. When we start tax planning and retirement should start as soon as possible because here's one thing out of Texas are not going away and so the game here is we know the rules what people want to ignore the rules or act like they don't are familiar with them, but virus those rules and so we get retirement become a regional start taking some of their money out of your accounts so the secret here is to put a force field around as much as possible. By strategically moving some Romani to Roth IRA were some of the other vehicles that are taxed like a special life insurance policies can borrow against your money there and never have to pay tax on you wanted to build up inside your Space up there a lot of strategies here. One strategy that does not work is ignoring the mature and not ignored the next 10 people will do for you your very own tax and retirement plan will help you minimize taxation with the retirement 800-661-7383. All you got is call or you can text Adam to 21000 for Coach Pete. The road I've got a take on sports gambling and tell me what you think about it I'm not. I'm not opposed to. I'm not worried about sports gambling or bedding being more a part of the sports we watch in the sense of a board about games being fixed. I don't like that of the that's bad other people do. That should be in trouble and prosecute all of things, but frankly it's boards fixing scandals are like kinda cool and somebody could cover it will talk about you. I said this on Monday. Sure, like I don't condone cheating that's immoral and I don't think we should do it another the Houston Astros when they cheated should be punished and booed in box and Judy Gibson fully sons bedroom and whatever full punishments but as a observer of these exports that are put on day-to-day mail like critical to try to get away with the dreaded bag just like let's go II like scandals right and I'd rather have sports candle the like, you know somebody stealing money from a fund that supposed to help poor people instead of mid billionaire Richard like you like those are the scandals hurt a little bit more Road L'Enfant with a sports fixing scandal.

However, I believe that we should have the right to bet. I believe that I will bet and I enjoy it and want to but there's part of me that thinks sports will be a little bit worse overall because of gambling being involved is that crazy or is that a hypocritical taper my crazy presented that one. I don't see it that way, but I'm also speaking from the position. CBSSports has a another website and service called SportsLine and SportsLine, you pay a subscription and you're able to get access to analysis to pics to there's lot of free content that we offer as well take part in their weekly college football show in the fall. I did a lot of daily college basketball picks in this past spring, and in that you know in that world. I've kinda been more along the lines of that was at 3534 35 states where it is and a lot of my position when I'm jumping on the shows is to try and bring the sports out of this.

I'm often on there with one former computer scientist who has a model that gives you all the percentages and is able to tell you about the edges that he has insert games and then on there with a former player or somebody else who's got their own experience angle and I'm in there tell able to contribute the stories able to contribute the information able to contribute the analysis that isn't necessarily just hard numbers that might give you reason to be confident or less confident in whatever pick that I'm sharing with you.

And so in that experience with SportsLine. I am sorry don't have a promoter to give you right now to fight you in that experience I been able to see how you can be even an exclusively sports gambling property and still tell the full picture of sports and their fans who want to show up and watch these shows and listen to these podcasts that they do appreciate and not obscene from the own reception from it that they appreciate still being able to take in the analysis and the information and enjoy being able to get a little bit of everything. So yes there will probably be a little bit of a backlash when you are introduced to the. The models in them. You know that the deep super inside sicko. Your alternate line type things.

But even when we talk about sports. There's just no way that you're going to be able to only get it down to talking about it like these are truly like stocks. I think that you're always can remember that sports are being there human beings that are competing and there's a lot that goes into play inside just I have seen a future that North Carolina I believe will get to experience where sports gambling is a part of your sports entertainment consumption but yet you are not gonna lose a lot of the same reasons why you love art show in and now I'm trying to ask you out. I don't know. I'm not saying that I don't believe you for even asking the question, and I know that I out of the trip in Europe and in the business was the fear but like but if gambling didn't exist or or even frankly but by the time you got a new sports for like there was at least acknowledgment that it happened right there used to be almost dislike Collier on the cabal like we were on the we don't talk about isn't working at CBSSports since 2010 and in that time we've gone from lessons learned were not gonna talk about it to okay you can do it in in one show a week right to it from a business standpoint, I don't think by giving away any of the company secrets here but look at our corporate sponsorship was Caesar's SportsLine property watch the way that we talk about gambling on CBS sports HQ are on the cover three podcast or elsewhere. We are clearly targeting that as an opportunity to be able to serve the invested sports fan in the invested sports fan is a fantasy owner somebody who invests their emotions and their favorite team and it somebody who invests their dollars in trying to be able to have a little bit of fun wagering on sports so I have seen that evolution over the last 12 years I've started and it was something you do not talk about and now it is very much driving a lot of content decisions where you you just build out your calendar and you put in like this is the week we are running when totals on CBS for stackable right now is when totals week 3.45 conference we are making when totals picks for every single power five team I'm working on the ACC right now. It's going to run tomorrow.

You can go see Big Ten SEC and I think big 12 went Monday Tuesday Wednesday on CBSSports.com.

Just it is just the way that you are able to fill out the calendar and turn a sport that only has 12 games in a year into a sport that you talk about 12 months a year by being able to really lean in and tap on this.

This other angle to coverings for June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford Whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became sport or look at the 25th anniversary of the movie presented by the company of North Carolina. Listen now my 25th anniversary card to use my question for you.

Do you do you truly enjoy writing stories about overload when totals as opposed to whatever store you would've been writing if you could write about what I got out of it would be just regular previews.

I guess like is that you enjoy that more at about John so you would with it.

I like it because it's given me a reference point for expectations used to be that you could go through and all the clichés about well where he's as healthy as he's been in his career working Lexmark fast and physical. Eric will will or expectation. You know why I like it because of the point spread. Actually, this is a good thing that you try to get this.

I think point spreads when totals I think that these numbers that are set by oddsmakers in Vegas. Yes, they are set to try to get money on both sides, but they also if they want to get money on both sides, or a decent representation of expectations and the way the goalposts are able to be moved by fans the way the goalpost rate will be moved by coaches. I like having that truly objective. This is what we the oddsmakers or the market. Once the line starts to move a little bit. This is what we think is the expectation this team is this many points better than this. This team looking at the schedule is expected to win this many games and being able to have a hard data point is expectation keeps you from writing fluffy nice stuff all the time to actually have to be really honest to make tough decisions instead of saying NC State basketball had a bad year last year you could say no, absolutely, they were the worst team in covering the spread in basketball.

They measured out the worst goods expectations of anyone I reported that since of the numbers. The other thing is I think you can't hear me on this is that it's kind of true of like I don't know it away and I feel like the same way about weed were like it's becoming so legal that like people that wouldn't when you had to like work to seek it out that it was almost like a subset of people that actually care about it until you cared about talking with those people right gambling feel like the same way when everybody's doing it like average dudes or daughter who don't really care and are not. Whereas before, and I live in a huge gamble electrode is put myself in the club.

I member to see the couple before, like knowing not much of my friends, three dads that actually gambled and I got the gold she did whatever being kinda mystified of it right but like it would've water down the conversation of like, well, well my dad that really care about Caleb going to fill it out anyway, just as you budgeted on the word is like you know like gamblers used to be conical club and they talked about Gaelic stuff and it was there again. I'm not saying I don't want more people in my club.

I just think it will exist if there's no club anymore at all. It just everybody does it is it is that fair errors that come in because I think that we have one-on-one relationships with all these individuals. I do agree that like it was.

Nobody cares about your fantasy team yet that's what nobody cares about your bets. I don't want to hear. Like how like good or bad your Saturday winds that I do think that that's where it becomes the individual and the sport itself.

The individual and the cover three podcast individual and the SportsLine date early edge daily show where you end up finding the places that you like to discuss, interact, listen, look it might be on the outer gold show on the article.

So there's already a segment where you're able to 50 minutes were placed in a car is going to get to spend Adam gold's money being able to make some pics and give analysis and then that's where the in in the future. The sports gambler. North Carolina is just to be able to know that they can listen to the segment on the Adam gold show coming. You mentioned it long ago. I remember when, like Colin Coward had a guy named RJ Bell on his daytime radio show and every Friday.

Give is like blaze and five year fixed within get analysis to larger valves like 2010 2011 definitely before we were making pics against the spread on CBS sports.com Bill Simmons and cousin Sal would like guess the line and if you are interacting with that podcast. If you were listening to that radio show then you wish you and in the provider of the entertainment and I think that that's kind of where were at. Where your you are definitely looking at the yesteryear world was like gambling circles and gambling clubs, and I think that as it does become water down. That's where it's a benefit for me and afterwards a benefit for the Adam gold show and all these other providers of the content is that you end up being the place you not their own little circle, but you end up in the place that they come to talk about stuff.

It will be interesting and it is partly also the we have this couple years ago were like yet know anybody working sports is great with that given places are filling the advertising market and paying them thousand dollars they like bring it all.

It's great right but all but then it for a while with that first.

It felt like every ad of every sporting that You Watch Was Dr., King's right under that's like a petty thing complain about, but but it's it's it's just that it's just be it becoming the the whole conversations boards in a way I just think makes it a with a not not exactly provide personal settings which of course all that that I care about it just slightly out of whack the way that that now could be totally washing gamble soaked it in gambling to anyway gently appreciated talking more football with Adam gold as the summer draws what what what billing summary basically overwrite yesterday was a long stay the year now. The days are getting shorter feels like a million back-to-school sales are already up. You know summer is over the week so will have football here soon enough patients and alto descended June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford Whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak.

Figuring it out on the fly became for the 25th anniversary of the move presented by the company of North Carolina. Listen, my
