The Big Ten appears to be selling part of their media rights for football and basketball games to CBS, and will not be renewing their deal with ESPN. Adam Gold speculates how this could impact the ACC/Big Ten Challenge because ESPN was the creator of the event.

In an essay written in Vogue, women's tennis star Serena Williams will move on from tennis after the US Open.

Financial capital financial.com. This is the gold shell come back. That's that's a question I can't answer no belike you know I don't know know all this is the gold shell by mountable Dennis Cox on the mortgages.

I appreciate appreciate how you folded it and I was a wrestling thing. One was actually folded that JR and the potentially be last time we hear from Serena Williams will hear from her again because she's going to be in the field at the U.S. Open. Otherwise she wouldn't be playing in Toronto right now, so she water match yesterday and I think a lot of us do not believe that when Morgan talk about in the second but a lot of us kinda felt watching her lose in the first round at Wimbledon a year after being injured in the first round Wimbledon and that was her first match since the injury that it was probably pretty close to over but some of us don't know world of tennis that did Serena all times.

Absolutely one of the all-time. My guess is that the U.S. Open will be our final. That's it. I could see her coming back to play Wimbledon simply because it's the easiest on her body, but I just don't. I can see your plane click click court because the matches are too long and I can't see her playing hard courts because man added that you beat you up, but she's got a play. Her first match of the U.S. Open at night just in case it's our last match at the U.S. Open and that will be that will be a tearjerker for a lot of people, so don't show.

I am him.

I Dennis Cox you're in charge of this semi-line leader.

We have a pullout right we do actually know what what what what were our options will hit this at 1 o'clock today. Our options include Serena Williams, who is me and arguably the greatest of the greats so not not just in tennis but I think in all of sports. One of the greatest of the greats will will get to some of the other things here in a second, but Big Ten TV with a very interesting twist, but I want to bring up Kevin Durant still wants out of Brooklyn and afterward done today will get a verdict on live versus the PGA tour in terms of the three players want to play this week as the tournament starts on Thursday.

So those are your options in the poll. Dennis says put out there.

I am about to hit RT and retweeting have to figure out if I want to vote in it or not, let's get to business. I would also like to say my condolences to the family of Olivia Newton John, 73 years old, Sandra D. Let's get physical. Have you have you never been mellow forever and ever. Have you ever think it's have you ever been mellow – if you get the titles of the songs I will doing cover songs at bars good lyrics wrong so yeah yes indeed, I can no longer crack on that doofus lead singer at ocean entities, but Greece is one of the great cinematic triumphs of our time.

You see, you see the movie great yeah.just amazing celebrating this the awfulness of being a highschooler in the 50s the absolute awfulness of that you know she's she's making herself in my opinion less attractive right and he's like sickness friends aside and try to be set. You are if you're Sandra DB said today. And if your Denny's Newco just embrace the Denny's Newco in all of us Never let's forget the sports I lost Dennis here. There I've seen the movie using the motor I get it – can't wait for Mark not getting studio in my man Coach Pete through the capital financial advisory group were talking retirement coach. I'm a simple guy but I like the colors tell me how I can colorcode money and get ready for retirement.

I like colors to telegraph satellite just buzzwords what we try to do is we try to break down all those words on your statement. All those numbers into three colors red, green, yellow people amazing to come in and most of the money is in the red getting that I want that a red means high horsepower potential is high loss potential.

It's a give-and-take you can want to do that or that yellow means liquid money to get any time suck on anything green. If you safe growth but also gives lifetime income as we get closer to retirement.

We need some green accounts with greens only: Baghdad result was important support for you to next and people out of the thousand dollar value going to put together for you your very own total plans as a green zone it's a traffic light. I hope it's green for you 800-661-7383 or text Adam to 21000B through so the Big Ten is this close to finalizing their television rights going forward.

I believe it starts in 24 rights this year and next year of status quo and men starting with the 2024, 20, 25 academic year is that X that's athletic to then they will go Fox main package in and it does appear that CBS and NBC will get the second and third tier rights, which means that for the first time since 1982. If I read this correctly, ESPN will have nothing to do with the Big Ten which, sorry about this. SEC people is America's premier conference and this is not about prestige it's not about championships which the Big Ten is struggled to achieve. Other than the Ohio State national championship football and what Michigan state did in 2000.

That was the last. It's still in terms of university size global Lord national reach for your global reach national reach eyeballs is the number one leader in ESPN won't have. Here's what's interesting to me. ESPN was presented with. I guess an offer by the Big Ten seven year deal. Just under $400 million annually and ESPN cashed no sorry were duck worldwide leader fold, but because the cards and where were not doing that is I don't know if it was for the second tier rights or the third tier rights but they didn't. Right now there's a second choice for the Big Ten. Fox gets first choice ESPN goes next, and sometimes they put those games on in the middle of the afternoon. Sometimes they put those games on prime time, but ultimately the way this deal is structured. Now it looks like it's going to be Fox gets the new game.

CBS will get 330 NBC will get a prime time game and whether NBC puts it on USA or Peacock now my favorite network, but for whatever wherever that's could end up. That's the way it looks like it's going and I think ESPN probably wanted a little more flexibility if I could guess problem, and maybe they balked at. Ultimately, the price for what amounts to 1/3 tier package which I don't blame them.

They've already been no fruit for a long time paying the biggest price to the NFL for Monday Night Football which they got maybe the 6 to 7 best game of the week occasionally got a great game but had no flexibility that's changing by the Monday night football has some flex opportunities this year and it's always been amazing to me that other than the Thursday night package ESPN was paying the most money getting screwed by the NFL, but they wanted so desperately to be part of the NFL and I get it. I think ESPN would have rather been part of the Big Ten television package, but there they have moved away. Here's the other thing that I read today from Andy Katz who works for a lot of different people, including the Big Ten network so there's a lot of nonconference games in basketball.

So according to Andy Katz. ESPN cannot show any game involving a Big Ten team. If unless it's at one of those preseason tournaments Maui Bahamas were there.

There's a bunch of those gray Larry Lassiter shoot out whatever they are, unless it's one of those, or unless it's a neutral site game that isn't within the Big Ten's footprint, which that's the United States now yeah right.

So my question is Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky, and Duke are part of the champions class is the basically the kickoff or the tipoff of the college basketball season with arguably the four biggest draws in college basketball that's been in ESPN property since it was invented, but it is also ACC Big Ten challenge applications are to so my wonder is Chicago as part of the Big Ten footprint. Indianapolis is part of the Big Ten footprint yeah New York is not just going to New York City well I guess it is. New York has records that represent that route to New Jersey and it's really not part of your nobody in New York gives a damn about rectors. It's in their market. Though sort of root records is actually in central New Jersey.

It's as much Philadelphia as it is New York, but Los Angeles is now in the Big Ten footprint curious so San Diego ESPN not show a Michigan State game of the champions classic on top of that the ACC Big Ten challenge might be dead as a result of this interesting, and… It's in ESPN property. Yeah right. So are you to tell ESPN that so we can do this. I guess they can be used to be the ACC Big East challenge so the Big Ten took over when the ACC had done.

Basically left the big Big East to die. So then the Big Ten stepped in. The only other way. It really survives is if ESPN splits that package, maybe with Fox Big Ten network. Whatever I don't I don't we don't know the future of it. Frankly, I think college basketball will survive without it, the ACC can simply do ACC SEC challenge at the start of the season which would be fine. SEC plays very good basketball been the last few years. SEC has arguably been better than the ACC on the court so that would be fine, and the ace the ESPN owns the SEC like they own the ACC so that would be a logical step off for the ACC but that still mean those are those have been early-season staple games which this Big Ten network could Big Ten TV deal could euthanize. I'm wondering if there's there, reach some sort of agreement where the home team there has the home team essentially is a broadcast right so if it's like football essentially so win-win. Michigan plays North Carolina.

Let's say the games at Michigan. Fox would have that game) at UNC.

ESPN would have the games that way. It's an even split during the season of the run. The challenge of unite, Fox gets have to be as big but remember ESPN invented this also very good. Property very good point. So forget that the that's like bowl game by Allied ESPN owns like 30 bowl games.

Yeah yeah I don't think the numbers 30 but it's pretty close last 20 something bold so this is just that it's an interesting part of this whole story is and this maybe tender speaks of the power of the Big Ten so that is something to keep an eye on. I don't think it will go final until late this week or early next week. Based on our friend John Moran from the sports business Journal.

I will say it is going to be nice. Moving forward that CVS is so can have a 330 game on Saturday to have been telling Mrs. staple been telling Chip Patterson this for a while. Ultimately, when they lost the SEC they will fall up.

Yeah they will fall up because if they get the right games at 330. Look, Fox's big noon Saturday noon kickoff that noon kickoff might ultimately be the dominant window for college football noon games are great but because Fox has first choice you're going to see a steady diet of Michigan Ohio State Michigan state Wisconsin Penn State in that noon window and will get big ratings, but the free 30 game which the SEC used to dominate.

I think CBS will take that second game and do the same. Yeah, right now ESPN is going to put the SEC game on their so we'll see.

Going head-to-head with each other. If I were ESPN I would put that game on ABC to get it over the air because CBS ain't put in the Big Ten on CBS network.

Put that on the mothership all you pardon me for using ESPN sports I will say though a 330 kickoff Michigan State versus Wisconsin.

I watch that CVS yeah I like personally I wouldn't watch that because watching those two teams is painful. Okay, I ice eagerly. I want to come out and say this I secretly enjoy Wisconsin football.

That's a shame I know you know it. I'm proud that that's not to say I enjoy Wisconsin football.

I'm trying to think if there's a Big Ten team other than Ohio State. That's watchable. Note Can come up in the Southern Cal yeah I can't wait for the southern USC I watch them with Lincoln Riley yeah watch that that's exciting footage of the football Ohio State.

Absolutely amazing. I have no problem watching Ohio State even though I what I hate watch that I want them to lose every time the play but there amazing everybody ultimately unwatchable except they had billions of alumni and they all think that the visuals on remote talking like Haley can't wait for Marilyn versus Minnesota Minnesota somewhat interesting as soon as I said a row the boat you go to the whole PJ flickering I get anyway yeah I it's good to draw a lot of eyeballs but my eyes would be glassed over watching it – it's so bad it's just such a terrible football. I mean she's boring it's it's boring and it's football from like 40 years ago. Gosh parked a little bit.

Let me let me move on June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak of figuring it out on the fly to Kingsport to look at the 25th anniversary of the moon, presented by the Carolina listen now fine.

So in a magazine essay.

They called an essay Serena Williams has hinted at this being it and she's openly talking about my current career winding down wants to start talking autofocus mortar family gently said it was kind of interesting to hear since I haven't even been able to talk about this with her husband Alexis.

She hasn't been able to deal with, you know, talk with her mother her father her sister about retiring mean she's been playing since professionally since what like 17 if not early right. I think I prefer slam win was 99,000,009 she's gonna turn 41 in like six weeks 41 years old 23 grand slam titles. She's one behind Margaret court, who has 24 but my gosh she's she'd wipe the court with Margaret 33 grand slam finals, which means she's 23 and 10 grand slam finals. The other two preeminent players in her era Maria Sharapova and her sister Venus.

She's dominated dominated now. Venus may stuff to be second best in your own family. Venus is probably a top 15 player all-time, probably top 15 player all-time. I think that's my DB conservative seven-time grand slam titleholder in grand slam events. Serena has a 10 and five record over her sister. She lost the first three and then went 10 into the next, 1272 in grand slam finals, including, I believe winning six in a row at one point she simply one of the greatest athletes in the last quarter century made. There's just no debate about it. She might be the greatest athlete in the last quarter century. Here's her after losing in the first round at Wimbledon and the inevitable question was asked about whether she'd come back come back for your loss.

That's that's a question I can't answer like I don't know. I feel like you know I have no nose and is what she's playing in Toronto this week as the hardcourt season really cranks up there.

Just a few more weeks before X2 more weeks before the start of the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows and I believe that when that's over whenever her Ron in New York is up. I believe she'll say that's it, that it might not be in the postmatch press conference, but I believe she'll say that's it. With that said, I think if she comes back anywhere, it will be Wimbledon because of the surface because the length of the matches even though the U.S. Open was a coming-out party. If you will. My gosh 40.

What is still being able she's no longer great because injuries motherhood time have taken its toll will also give Ahmad she nearly died about eight years ago with a staff infection yeah that's regularly.forgot about that and she's when she came every time she was legitimately able to come back.

She literally was like the best player in the world again. It's sort of like Tiger before the back injuries really took over in a tiger came back and people forget what his last major in 2008 and dad did any at all the other knee surgery and all that he came back about a year and half later, he finally got his game back is best player in world he won five times in 2013 right he became.

And then the back injuries really started to pile up and he could play, and then he comes back and he gets back to it in 2019.

With the Masters and get just ridiculous. Serena's main, you could argue that she's better than Tiger in terms of overall athlete in this century art. One more one more thing before we start to talk to Ryan Wilson of CBSSports.com will talk NFL stuff with him every year NFL training camps. They get here and there's all this hype and everybody's pumped up in August so many things to talk about and then you know what happens.

We talk about the same thing basically every day.

So for the last three months.

All we heard about in Cleveland was Baker Mayfield Baker Mayfield Baker Mayfield every day.

They talked about it on ESPN because, as were finding out that much to talk about the blasting football it's just like every other sport we get to the preseason get to spring training baseball preseason hockey preseason in the NBA, like just get us to the regular season is very little to talk about so Baker Mayfield now traded to the Panthers and now it seemed that might win seven games every single day on ESPN. There's a disk there's a guy go every day is a discussion I was listening this morning. Debra does not get up so Chris can't be and what Chris Kohler filling in for greeny, and whoever so damn what's going on with the Panthers really cares outside of here.

We it's just there's not much to talk about.

So with that, he says as we talked to Ryan Wilson CVS eight minutes anyway, here's Baker Mayfield, who simply trying to get by human nature probably want more reps probably say the same thing but for me it's just about improving this to get myself to be playing the best quarterback I can, and to be planted a very high level just go from there take it one day at a time put my head down work that's that's what I know how to do some the continue doing that just get better. One data time put my head down work man I just got assaulted by clichés is that part of the NFL's personal conduct policy. I believe it is. I think Baker Mayfield picked up a 2 x 4 of clichés and hit me over the head with you should do an interview. I will be whomever that rule Baker you asked me questions I'll give you all the clichés just are valid even though the questions are, but I will answer them here from the other quarterback said Donald on the competition for us you know in the census ration of this is correct composition of the day were we both want to be the starter and were distended, both for ourselves in a position to be that guy for the team. By the end of the day it's soft us coaches and front office. I wonder if anybody has asked Sam, and I don't even know if this is if is a good question asking because it's really not a good answer if if Sam feels like Baker was brought here to take his job. Sam, do you feel like it's inevitable that the only reason they traded for Baker was because they don't believe in you because that's why they traded for Baker afraid asked that question I mean it would be an uncomfortable question ask because that is cutting right to the quick imminent bodily first game action come Saturday afternoon in the heat against the commandos in command over what I did there. I will talk to Silas to CBSSports.

This is the atom gold shell June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak of figuring it out on the fly became sport or look at the 25th anniversary of the move presented by the Carolina listen my
