Have financial capital financial USA.com. This is the Adam Gold show Sports Illustrated joining is now on the Adam gold show, among other things, author of Tiger and Phil golf's most fascinating rivalry which actually might even have a new chapter. You might have to write an addendum Bob considering Tiger has been very omnipresent with this store and Phil is obviously largely responsible for live but let's start with the announcement of I guess the new future of golf 12 elevated events starting at 2023. How do they get this done so quickly. Bob yeah Adam. It makes you wonder why they didn't do it sooner. Right because if they had. Maybe there would be live golf and certainly no say what you want about what Phil said earlier this year, but that had an impact on this stuff happening. I mean, some of these things are what Phil talked about know and so they did.

I'm surprised it's all happening tomorrow next next year. I would've thought it would take them longer to pull this off, but clearly they feel the need to act you know that they been bleeding players here all summer long. Sounds like they might give you more to go over the lives next week and you just can't continue to have that happen.

If you want to say that you got the best players in the world competing on your torso pretty significant revelations today by the Commissioner barbaric from Sports Illustrated is joining us here on the Adam gold show I did I get the sense that nobody will talk about Rory McElroy here in a minute and he said the word tomorrow and actually comes up today as well, but I get the sense that the the meeting last week in Wilmington Delaware with Tiger Woods and Rickie Fowler which I don't think enough attention was paid to the fact that Fowler was on board that plane, but those guys flying up and getting the top players all in a room and all the word coming out of the was that the players were you not United unanimous in their support for whatever they discussed.

I really felt like that was kind of the vets that come to stop the momentum of live golf.

I'm not sure other than cam Smith. How many players of significance are going to make that leap. Now my just more optimistic that I should be.

Now I think there's a reason for optimism in that regard.

I mean if you were wavering. The tour has given you lots of reasons. Now to stay on board. If you want guaranteed upfront money to go to live because you're not going to get that from the PGA Tour just are not going to do that then announces thing where everybody's going to get $500,000 to start the year that not only does you any good if you don't make $5000 $500,000 $500,000 so you don't like let's say you had a bad year, nearly 200,000 you get to keep the rest. I that's that's a start.

To me, that means that okay I can start the year and no I got at least $500,000. You know, and in a fight and if I go beyond that. Obviously I'm fine anyway that's been a big issue in Wrigley among all this is guaranteed pay know these guys on the PGA Tour events that have cuts are part of the show think they're there for the Pro-Am to 22 rounds if they missed the cut they get zero and yet the tour that the local entities are selling tickets, TV rights, showing them they're not getting paid. That's a problem. Now that now you can sort of push against that argument okay look, you still get this $500,000 to start the year. If you don't have a good year. Your your lease.that anybody should have problem that barbaric Sports Illustrated is joining us from the tour championship.

The format is come under some discussion but what if we have time we'll get to that. It's so it's so inconsequential based on everything else that was announced today. Tiger Woods is responsible probably for where we are. But where would the tour be without Rory McElroy's weekend, week out leadership public focused leadership that really began all the way back in February important. I mean, you need you need a strong voice. You need mature voices you need voices of reason and you know Rory has all along acknowledged the tour can do some things better. That gives him credibility because that means he's not just the tour. She'll is not just talking favor of the tour is acknowledging book. This is a great place to play the best tour in the world but what we can do some things better and they came up with some ideas know this idea of getting you to play 20 tournaments, 17 of them are really the ones are you going to have to play a mean way I understood the announcement were still unpacking a lot of it is the 12 elevated events plus the majors plus the players at 17 events and no even right now even though like the Genesis which is Tiger's tournament, the Arnold Palmer the memorial Jack Nicholas's tournament. Those tournaments get really good fields, but you're not required to plan right so they don't always get now you will be required. Plan. My guess is the only ones that you wouldn't be required would be the season-opening tournament of champions. I mean, you have to qualify for that world matchplay, but in theory if you're one of these top guys are going to be in those events yield a lot of guys skip the matchplay doesn't look like to be able to now and so I I'm I'm of you know, it's an Rory was obviously a big a big proponent of all this is good for them. I mean, no matter where you sit on the live idea all throughout time. We wanted the best players together more often, and now were going to get that golden studio with my friend Coach Pete through the capital financial advisory group.

We are talking retirement coach house longevity risk figure into our retirement and income plan. This is the best of times and the worst of times and longevity risk me to get a lift to all to me everyday lives not too long after we want to money to outlive us and unfortunately many people have seen you out there listening. Maybe one of them. Your money is not designed to outlive you. You might outlive your money and that's not what we want to have happen because we get to that day after you run out of money not to be a fun time. Let's design a plan that guarantees you never run out of money. We call it the GPI plan growth protection lifetime income for the next 10 people is the golden ticket. Adam does know better than to do at no cost or obligation, and all you have to do is call we make it so easy. Would you like financial independence into your retirement and beyond it.

800-661-7383 that golden ticket is $1000 value or you could text Adam to 21000 for Coach Pete to root. Rory talked earlier today about when he watches the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. He knows Tom Brady to be throwing football when he watches a Formula One racing is Lewis Hamilton's good to be a racecar. We don't always have that we rarely had that in terms of the top players all on the same event on the PGA Tour that didn't involve a major or the players championship. Ith also think that it's interesting that part of the commitment is to three events outside of that group of tournaments. So whether it's Wyndham here in Greensboro or ditto Detroit or travelers. The those guys have committed to 20 events. Tiger would've never computed Bob during his day Tiger would've never committed to play 20 events.

Yeah, I mean if they go back and look at his career in the early days, he would play 20 right, but not too many times in the last 15 years. The other three events is important I think to keep those sponsors happy it means they have a chance at getting some of these guys and frankly, you might hope that some of those tournaments get rotated to know. They said they have their sport elevated events.

They didn't announce perhaps also be rotated and that helps. That can help in those markets.

That's it. That's a very important factor, but you know if if you don't, without all the details right now. If your say the Valspar championship which follows the Arnold Palmer the players and precedes the matchplay you're in a tough spot.

You're in a tough spot right now so there are some things they still have to work out about this and is housed tournament like that supposed to survive if you're having the play of those other three events. That's an easy week to skip and so and and and even if you required to play three others. It's unlike you can play for in a row. So they've got some stuff to work out for sure what it was always going to be issues when you're going back to a schedule between January and August to try to cram all of it in. It actually will be the first time we had a schedule that is wholly contained between January and August because the schedule used to go into September and even all the way to November for the old tour championship and now we have the wraparound schedule, which a lot of players didn't like so is the is the fall is here since the fall still good to be used as sort of a qualifying series for the tour or is the fall to be left vacant for just silly season events well starting next month it's going to be as expanded.

They got one more wraparound sees, but in 2024. After the tour championship.

The fall events are going to become basically a way to keep your card if you didn't already so so it's still in. This is the way it was pre-wraparound when they first started the FedEx cup. They played a bunch of events in the fall that allowed you to to to maintain your position you can you know you could be a top players to play them.

It's just not good enhance your previous season, nor will it help you for the following season that's good. We should see the faults of that type of golf because that is not the high level golf. That is the type of golf that the hard-core people like myself are going to be into but but you know let's be honest, this is a commercial entity tour has probably for too long care too much about the masses and not enough about the stars and every other sport has a defined window. You know it's the reason why people right now. Can't wait for college football start for the NFL. The start has a defined season if you if those seasons are played out over eight months or nine months instead of 45. I don't think there is as popular, every game is so important. Every golf tournament be important when there's 47 when you knock that down to say 3835 now that's a lot better. It's a lot more contained now that we know that these guys would probably be like 20 of them now. Not now. You know you got a chance to where for the majority of of every of every month. Rigorously the top guys NASCAR does it all their all their drivers are in every race, barring injury, you know the Formula One guys. The same thing NFL players they try to play 17 and 17 baseball hundred and 62 is no reason why the PGA Tour can see I mean I'm not saying it's just golf, but means just golf nobody sit near Bob Herrick from Sports Illustrated the author Tiger and Phil golf's most fascinating rivalry. I can't wait till Greg Norman comments on this. I thank you very much.

Enjoy Eastlake and will talk down the road there happening interesting is that on my my TweetDeck my computer so I I get Twitter.

I have a call in for live golf due to heavy this is my shocked face right exactly this is legit much. I have a lot of like I have a a hurricanes column as well. Actually one hurricanes one hockey but I have live golf and earlier when the PGA Tour made this announcement today. How familiar are you Dennis with the prices right along the press okay you kidding me.

So the like halftime entertainment and the price is right where they spin the wheel.

That's what it looked like when the PGA Tour made the announcement today it the those who live golf Hawks worse so up in arms about this that my timeline looked like it was just a constant speed to scroll nice. It was so much action because this really is. I think a way to stop, live and live golf golf is not going the way because the truth is is that live I think serves a purpose for the Sergio Garcia's of the world, there no longer a top PGA Tour player but they have a name and it's going to be. Ultimately, I think, live, golf will end up being the pre-champions tour guides were done really dominating and competing at a high level of the PGA Tour. That'll that'll be there home for whatever that's worth.

But the young players who are making this decision is not work out not to work out well for when we come back to things I want to get into in a short period of time. One is a little bit more about week zero and Chip Patterson will join us at the top of the hour talk about it. The other is I was try to build depth chart.

The Carolina hurricanes and it ain't easy though. It's not.

It is not easy. There are a lot of moving parts with both of those in a short period of time next June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became sport or look at the 25th anniversary of the moon, presented by the Company of North Carolina. Listen now my thought way.

I know that it's got some chick that is where admin the Bob Herrick yeah will, to be honest, I'm a fan of the song will and will is great but Mormon Steve girlfriend version so Let me under direct you to tell me to give you some some musical advice and under you like music so Ashley, you have an old soul when it comes to music we are blind when it comes get. Waiting for Columbus live alive disc of little feet. It is amazing the version of this song on that is great fat man in the bathtub, which is the first track on that live album is outrageously good from which venue, waiting, waiting for Columbus yeah's life life. It's a lot it's a lot I think I show yeah why sealers while I guess it's a blend here reserve from I did and Washington DC okay so it's it's it's multiple shows, maybe, but it is it is a tremendous tremendous album right you just pop that in one year.

When you doing squat left or whatever you do at home. I have no idea. I don't know what I'm thoughtful and what is a squad I don't know what it is.

I just made it up. You should do that while… Yeah five sets of 100, so listen to that and you'll be you'll be all set. I two things I want to get to in this signature Patterson at the top of the hour. I know everybody's excited for college football were all excited for the start of the college football is just hard to call this week. Week zero the start of college football ship. However, at the top of the hour will geek out about every game on the week zero schedule.

He is that way why we have chip on ship is amazing on the Nebraska Northwestern game is not in Evanston. It is not Nebraska at Northwestern it is Nebraska and Northwestern in Ireland as the Big Ten match up to it is a big and actually I believe Ireland is within the Big Ten footprint now. Yes I think it is so is Notre Dame. My question would be what did Ireland do wrong that we sent them Nebraska at Northwestern is are we had only in conflict is what Darrell Ward declared that I was not aware of this, that the they just had you 21 men's lacrosse championship day.

It was that Limerick that's right was a limber guide.

I challenge you to make a limerick out of it needed. I do not is a maybe this is the balance to its ages got something great negative watch. Now you may have to endure this book.

Nebraska is one of those programs that enjoyed so much success for about 30 years. The Tom Osborne years and even the French soldiers. So from like the early 70s all the way through just about to 2000, the turn-of-the-century Nebraska was pretty stout anything in a nap anymore. They have an incredible fan base and a huge stadium and they had this long long sellout streak and I don't really know if it's intact or not but the program they just know natural recruiting base. They are in a league where they're just there, Nebraska and Iowa have some sort of a rivalry against the gannets. Again it ends the season but Nebraska's traditional rivals I believe they play Oklahoma this year that will be. That's good that mean the Oklahoma Nebraska game. There was a time where there were like three or four must-see college football games every year, and Nebraska.

Oklahoma was one of the Nebraska, Oklahoma, a bigot match yeah you know Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Michigan near the USC UCLA were that was a much bigger deal. There were just a handful games and Nebraska. Oklahoma was always one about one of the those games September 17 at Nebraska so it it's good to see that game back. But honestly, Oklahoma probably beats Nebraska by hundred minute I don't think it will be as bad but I don't think Nebraska is winning that game so but that's a program that desperately wants to be back. I just don't know if they'll ever get back. And Scott Frost has been less than successful in getting them back there. The other thing that I wanted to grab real quick and go talk to Paul Stastny brand-new hurricane forward center coming up in our third hour, but the depth chart is ever crowded for the hurricanes.

Remember in the among the forward group. They re-sign more teenagers they brought in Max patch a ready Petra to get hurt so he's most likely headed for long-term IR unless they make some other move which would allow them to not send him to long-term injured reserve for salary-cap reasons he's coming back in February late February or early March.

He's going to be back so when he comes back, the hurricanes must be Compliant and there right now about 2 1/2 million over the When Jack Drury makes the team will be about 3 1/2 million over the So they'll need his long-term injury relief to get under the Unless they are able to move Jake Gardner which is frankly a long shot, but you've got spatula coffin Jarvis in nature's and Tara Vining and Fost and Martin look and Andre caccia as well as pulsed as new.

They've just added Derek stepdaughters here on professional tryout who has a chance to make it. Maybe not make the opening-night roster but be on the team. There's also other young players that might.the forward group a long shot yes but you don't want to close the door to anything is a lot of options for Rod Brind'Amour a lot.

I think they're good ultimately going to put patchy ready on long-term IR so they can clear the Room to do all of this, but there's a lot of choices for Brind'Amour. The only thing he doesn't have really is a righty who's going to take face-offs Derek step on could but Derek step on is probably a long shot for the opening-night line. Really this is the atom gold shell June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became 25th anniversary of the presented by the Carolina listen my
