Today on Senate Pastor JD Greer clear five confusing top New Testament worship service is when three things are manifestly present. The word of God, the Spirit of God and the people of God. What if you came to church is bubbling up to look for someone using your what happened, it would be a preaching show would be a spirit explosive.

I'm your host Molly minutes so what's the difference between attending, say, a Christian movie or concert and being part of a church. They both involve a bunch of people listening to someone talk about Jesus and chances are the people there are Christian, but not all church is supposed to be today. Pastor JD reminds us that we are called to be so much more than just an audience. The church we've all been given spiritual gifts were supposed to use them after Jenny titled today's message gifted part of our study of the Holy Spirit rushing when let's get started. One now concerning New Mexico on the word in Greek. It is translated in your Bible spiritual gifts. That's an okay translation it's really really the most literal translation will be spirituals just spiritual manifestations. The essence of the Spirit now concerning spiritual brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed, but for now there are varieties of gifts, career is my thought terraces readable grace from my thighs worry about the idea a gift so there are variety of grace gifts, graces you might say but the same Spirit. There are varieties of the alchemy which is where we get our word deacon. It just means serving hundreds of varieties of service, but the same Lord. There are varieties of in game and or gamma will beget award energy from it means energies activities right but it is the same God who empowers them all for everyone to receive his doing, stumbling through trying to describe what these are. What are they the manifestations are spirituals there energies that are serving, but it's the same God doing all been to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To whom, so to each. That's right, usually to hear everybody's in the right look at the person on your right.

The person on your left that needs theirs in each year and each everyone eats each word is all each okay so to each is given a manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Okay, that's our tax. Now I've got pastors always thing to do things in threes Trinity three so therefore all of her sermons and upper points right at 630 this morning so I number one on a spiritual get very simply, is Jesus pursuing his mission through the members of his church member to every believer has one. Every believer house one verse seven to each each one of you that is a believer in Jesus to each is given number three but gifts are given for the common good of the church.

One of the many problems of the Corinthians had is that they thought that their spiritual gifts made them like spiritual superheroes manifestations of their own personal awesomeness and so they were proud about their spiritual gifts and they boasted in their spiritual gifts. They seem to look at spiritual gifts, almost like spiritual X-Men powers you can identify yourself, but is also a gift you have like you get Zappa spiritual Spider-Man powers that's all that's on the Corinthians, look at this as they thought that their spiritual gifts gave them an elevated status above above everybody else supposed to tell them that that not only does that show that they are unbelievably immature. It shows that they neither understand the gospel or the purpose of the gifts but keep moving here.

Number four. No believer has them all.

No believer has them all. You see, number 70.

Each was given something that everybody else needed. God didn't give all the gifts anybody Jesus at all the gifts Jesus out of all. But nobody else. After him, got him all down in verse 12 also use analogy and metaphor depresses old every member of the body. He says look on your Bible seed.

Every member is unique. Every member performs a different function if the I suddenly decides it's more important than the foot you can see how the I would think that right in the eyes are pretty delicate piece of equipment to see if your dozen things that know the part of the body can do the foot not so much stomach real clumsy estimate you think the podiatrist of the diagram later but you I'm saying this is like the sophistication about Ivy produces odor. The icon takes care of itself a basis you know the I decides it is more important than the foot in the I decides to get before the pretty amazing things, but without the footage can be seen the same thing all the time today to go anywhere and see anything new. Paul says is all the members of the body that end up creating the body. God designed the church like that so that each member is dependent on the others. We got was to work in the world. He really doesn't directly. He does it to the members of his body.

The whole analogy is for.

Here's the way always waited you if you if you left elbow itches right and so it sounds a little message up to the brain. How does your brain fix that but send out like magical brain power to blast the agent dissolve.

It is what it does know your brain sends a message over here to your right fingers and say to your right fingers, brother, elbow has a niche you need to fix that and then brother fingers, your brother, right fingers.

No self-interest of its own. It's not itching goes over and relieves the brother elbow says that you and everybody's happy. Because the way that the brain resolve the problem. The elbows of the fingers.

When God wants to work in the church. He does it through the members of his church, which means that when you separate yourself all from intimate connection with your church you separate yourself off from access to the power of God that meets and it means that you got no right to sit around and ask God's power. If you have disconnected yourself from intimate connection with the local church is an ongoing guy. I need guidance in this area and I will say this in a minute… I put guidance in the spirit I put in the body of Christ. And if you're not connected them you get my gun got my marriage is all messed up my wife.

She lost her mind and I don't know what to do right and you disconnected from a church got the say of course your marriage is all messed up means for communicating the healing was my local church like well I know I should update this person should be going over here to this temptation. Attempting to overcome. I can't shake I can't break this addiction God like my power for all those things is rarely going to come down as a laser beam from heaven right is fix that I distribute myself, my power my gifts into the local church so that when you listen when you separate yourself from the local church and ask God for his power that the Jewish people would call Klotzbach. That word means click Klotzbach and yes you pronounce about our wanting self-confidence.

It's totally unaware of how brazen and routed to be. I've always heard it like like the guy who kills his mom and dad and then throws himself on the mercy of the court because he's an orphan. Your guts you can do that yet, chutzpah for you to ask God for his power in his work in your life and then separate yourself from his means of give you that power is Klotzbach there is no lone ranger spirituality. There is no I am complete in Christ and therefore I don't need the church. You are complete in Christ, but the way God continues to work in your life is through intimate connection with his body. The local church.

No believer is given the mall, he distributed them to make us dependent on one another.

One of the ring on this and this is the conditional appointment number two was so quick I got some time on this one. I know this does. We recognize that God has given individual member different gifts lessons. This implies about 10% of you. But this 10%. This set you free from the tyranny of always feeling like you never do enough for God. This is because there's a certain personality type am talking to right now that it was I was his personality type did not try to write God. It was like thereby became law had an agenda Christians care about that before I got involved in that real Christians do missions to 25 mission trips in 10 years. No joke will Christians do evangelism. I was out Friday night seen walking up and down hills were straight at one point your shared private regressive. Do you know, that kind of evangelical Christians care about the poor. Real Christians care about racial reconciliation will Christians.children will Christians were bold in fostering Christian will be involve the public school will Christians care about political action.

Any number of things in the matter what happened I was always never know but it's got something else. Every new agenda came along to do that you know your release from that tyranny is when you understand this concept of spiritual gifts wasn't not everything that comes from heaven, has your name on it. Not everything that comes from heaven, has your name on it. Not that there God's agenda. You should be sympathetic to that agenda your own what you should support that agenda doesn't mean that it becomes your agenda as you are a creature of limited bandwidth. God knows that God knows you're not Jesus. And you're not him. Therefore he did not lay all the things in your shoulder and say go fix the world what he gave you was a gift and you operate out of that gift. You know what ways God taught me this is such a sweet, ironically, when I first drove us home to me. I realized that he had given me a part of my day, every single day he was supposed to be teaching me this is called sleep does not go to sleep him tight answer type am I can sleep get so much done as I got westward. Heaven is like yeah and that's why I make you go to sleep because you're not me and I never want you to think that you are sought. That'll never sleep gotten sleep slumbers God puts me on my back for eight hours. Just remind me I'm not him.

I need sleep. Therefore I'm not the creator. He's the creator and ultimately he's the one that blesses his church. I've got a few gifts, work in those gifts will be sympathetic to your gifts in order to support one another in our gifts. But I understand that there's a limited bandwidth. I have a few gifts and I want to build my life around those gifts that: does that make sense. Not everything that comes from heaven, has your name on it. Okay I was going about going to present you the city you are lazy and you need to get busy with something I number five number five real church only happens when all contributed real church real church only happens when all contributed.

Let me jump ahead Gore-Tex for next week.

1426. When you come together like this church. Each one has a hymn, a lesson revelation at tong interpretation what all things be done for building up, listen very closely.

Paul's expectation of a worship service is that everybody come with something to give you some to be very honest was that your expectation coming in this morning.

Give me a Board of Education God, give me an insight, God give me a word for somebody I'm walking around, looking for who it is I'm supposed to speak this into got me to be here, praying over somebody because God is put this on my spirit in my heart.

Is that how you came to church. I would say probably many of you that's not how you can be church. To be honest right you can be church. Here's your mentality is you, we set gifts. This is what you pay me for the giver.

You're the receiver worship team gives it on their way. You sit there and you receive. That's what this time is for something something I'm very burned about Summit is how weak we are in this.

According to Paul, a New Testament worship service is when three things are manifestly present.

The word of God, the Spirit of God and the people of God the Word of God spirit on the people of God churches like ours, mega churches Babb to stick church is we will get the word of God thing right so you have a 50 minute sermon and the word of God and you sit you take note. That's also not needs to be there but within the spirit of God that were coming. I guess the spirits cannot work in the preacher little bit on what say that that's happening people of God. People got to sit there, but that's not a New Testament worship service and adjust worship services when the whole place is contributing to all the spirit and they are all contributing to what's happening there one times recently that this will was driven home was our team took a trip to one of these mega-churches that show slight coming extraordinary in their production ammunition site and they got the stuff together.

Everything is on a glossy brochure, the preacher smiles pyrotechnic slide of his teeth and is also and were there but one of our guys afterwards made a reflection about so insight when I went to the name churches amount on the critical, he said.

He said when he said he said the thing was, he said in that worship service.

If the audience nobody had been there worship service would not of gone any differently.

It was like a kid moment came in the lights went down spotlight comes on guy gets up with his guitar. He's backed up by the band. There probably wasn't instruction like stamp your feet. They go to their songs, thereby sits down. The preacher gets out gives a funny engaging sermon. You know he does it. There's an announcement of video mail the home is like you put it there could've been a not a soul in that room and all was going exactly the same except for that matter if there was no God could've all gone exactly the site is so different. You see, from what Paul is talking on the first ring is working 26 you see that right about the same time.

Went to another for the monsters that I had the privilege of speaking at and what I'm doing and that service was big is about the size but I'm the whole congregation was there. I mean they were men they were praying over one another.

They showed up early to pray and pray you know the saying, their pride in their state court, they were responsive, and worship. They were appointed to service some of them would would would give a word of exhortation to the congregation. The spirit of God was alive, he was moving like it was in a congregation of people, the word of God. The people of God, the Spirit of God.

This is an area that we really need to grow in because I'm telling you don't think most of you. What if you came to church this bubbling up this word of spirit to look for somewhere to use it.

You know what happened there would be a preaching show would be a spirit explosive, but is not how much did you convert to becoming you sit there and you like to do is pastor and your good preacher you get three weeks to be off church. This is about. This is about you entertaining mean you feeding me this is your opportunity is ready opportunity when I say at the end of the message was all about his for prayer. There is no less than 50 of you that stand up and walk out what you you do that because you came to hear and receive because that is a part of God you got your Jesus McNuggets had all be very clear.

Review okay.

You are welcome to come to church or do that. You really are.

Our ushers are trained not to look at you judgmentally when you walk out they will label it will divert their headache is coming you know, we know that you might have an emergency every single week.

Will we know that you might have.

They they we understand that you're welcome to do that. You really are. I was you're probably not go do it today guys are sneaky new levels of sneakiness all the time you do it today, but you're welcome to do that but you will is what that says about your mentality to what a miserable Christian experience. What a miserable Christian experience because you haven't even gotten the first elements of discipleship, it is more blessed to give than to receive the joy of the Christian life is not when you, the reservoir receive the joy, the Christian life is when you are giving and operating in the spirit so that you are contributing as well as is receiving so you can make us all you I see you because I pray I pray what I want to send secret.

I know that you guys another campus is by the way, I know that I cannot see you and all you can all get on leave and I would never have any idea but Jesus sees you and it hurts his heart. It really does right was he going to keep going bosses.

This verse April 1 is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom will explain these really really quickly in the next week will spend the whole week on its okay so don't like that means I'll take what they mean. But the next God warns of wisdom is insight into the will of God about things are not necessarily clear, I mean there's a lot of things that will gather very clear do not murder me like you murder this person should I do that or not will be like Margaret's.) Okay so wisdom though is all those areas where it is not really a chapter and verse you should I marry this person.

Should I go to school here. What's the best way to handle the situation.

That is the spiritual gift of wisdom that God gives not to everybody but the some people in his church to be able to ascertain his will to be able to speak it in. That's the spiritual gift of wisdom. To some he gives that to another to another. Utterances of knowledge I think about when Jesus when he's talking to the woman at the well and he's like a look at your husband and bring him here in home as I don't have the husband and also like is often Jesus is Macduff the Holy Spirit. They said that's right, you will have a husband you had five husbands. That's a supernatural insight that happens in the church. It ought to happen more here were God gives somebody insight into somebody else's life and to say I know exactly what to pray for you, claiming to be somehow weird Gypsy prophet, I'm just telling you that God put this on my heart to ask you is this true and if it's true at us want to pray for you by that. So that's the utterance of knowledge to another faith by the same spirit that's not like, believe in Jesus for salvation kind of faith well get that that's faith to perceive what God wants to do in a situation and ask him to do it. I've got the faith to believe that he wants to do this and I'm going to ask therapist for you see miracles and healings.

I know that he was the healer knowing what's this miracle and I'm not believe God for another prophecy.

Prophecy is when you speak the word of God or the will of God into somebody's life. Sometimes with the chapter and verse. Sometimes it's more like what I said a minute ago with wisdom where your your perceiving this essay I think God wants you to know this. I will get into that more next week. That's that's the gift of prophecy that mean, by the way, that when you do that latter thing were you sapping God what you know this, you're claiming to speak Scripture not on the level of Scripture but his sister say nothing God spirit might be urging me to guide you in this way up to another. The ability to distinguish between spirits, the ability to know what's my speaker got up and tell the truth or not, to another various kinds of tongues, to another interpretation of there's tons.

I'm glossolalia is that word a definition of tongues is when you worship God in a language that is unfamiliar to you, glossolalia is when you worship God in a language is unfamiliar to you will get into that next week the interpretation of there's tons. All these are empowered by one of the same spirit who apportions to each one individually as he wills that were quick. This is one of six different spiritual gift list found in the New Testament. These three verses here that one last there tomorrow list found in first Corinthians. There is one Ephesians 1 and Romans and one in first Peter here's the thing. None of none of them did the same last. There are some overlaps, but there are at least 22 different gifts noted in no list exhaustively covers them all. Right there is the gift of try to write this down right there is the gift of possible prophet, the teacher, miracles, healings, helps ministry. Sometimes your patient on board was one of knowledge made things everything spirits give the be evangelist, pastor, teacher serve encouraging contributing leadership, mercy, marriage, and everyone's favorite celibacy. Okay, those of the 22 gifts 22 gifts, six different last everyone giving different gifts. No list containing all what does that mean why do you know that out. There is no exhaustive list you think about it wrong when you think about a lot sharp like an outlook that we got like you got these letters and you will need a set of letters you give them out. You got me notice the got the you got a wrong way to approach spiritual gifts spiritual gift is one never God wants to do is be an exhaustive checklist of spiritual gifts.
