Christmas presents might look nice under the tree, but it would be silly to leave them there. Presents are meant to be opened and used. And the same is true of the spiritual gifts God has given us!

Today on Senate like with Jenny Greer… Why would you play not like yourself and Ryan because you put yourself in the place where he blows his power. So the question was how the balls up in the church based on chapter 4 I would tell you a better way to phrase the question is how much do you want Christ to be a part of your life that's attributable to the church how much you want to know Christ is all about.

You should be in the church another day like pastor Jenny Greer. I'm your host Molly, but that's okay I know it's July.

That's part of Christmas morning seeing all those pretty packages wrapped up under the tree sparkling under the lights. How pretty they are. It would be silly to just leave them there anyone with kids is actually praying for the day when the sun actually comes up before it's time to excitedly tear into them presents are meant to be open used and enjoyed today pastor Jenny is calling us to not leave our spiritual gifts under the tree.

It's time to tear into those with the same joy and enthusiasm where in a series called mystery and clarity any of the previous messages can find them@jenny.com. Now here's pastor JD with the conclusion of our message title all talk about is a response to this great glorious gospel. If you don't do the things that I'm telling you today that Paul save your divisions for the gospel. Verse two is a short walk with all humility, if you get the gospel at all, but your righteousness to God what a filthy rag and God stepped in your life intervene to begin to seek you if you get all that you will look down on other people's feelings of superiority or self-righteousness, humility, the response of the gospel and gentleness, with patients bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. This is if you get the gospel you'll be eager to see peace, you will not love controversy or division or strife or hatred. Different verse for just like you were called to the one hope that belongs to that word belongs to your call. It all inherits in your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and father of all was going through all and all.

Number seven, Paul shifts and starts to talk about what the fact that God lives inside of you means or how you relate to the church in the world for seven graciously, Paul says, was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift.

Therefore, it the Old Testament says in the quote from Isaiah when he ascended on high, let a host of captives.

That's us any day gifts to men. This is an Old Testament prophecy that Jesus rose from the dead he would put his spirit into the people that he left behind. That's us and he would give us supernatural spiritual gifts verse nine insane he ascended, what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions of the earth. He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. Verse 11 and so he gave the apostles, the prophets, the banjos, the shepherds of the teachers to web the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ all maintain the unity of the faith into the knowledge of the son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cutting craftiness in deceitful schemes rather speaking the truth in love to each other. We are to grow up in every way into him who is the head into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped when each part is working properly makes the body grows so that it builds itself up in love. God's purpose in salvation get this with not just to save you and take you to heaven. God's purpose was to fill you with himself. So he feels you and gives you spiritual gifts whereby you experience him, not just working for you and not just working in you, but working through you. So I want to look at three questions from this passage.

Here they are, what our spiritual gifts and how do I know what mine is your first question, and secondly were going to ask why is it so crucial that I know what mine is and after that I want to give you a quick word about what all this means for our churches philosophy to make a personal challenge.

The very point where our spiritual gifts and how do I know what my use.

Let me give you a definition that I think comes out of this passage. It is spiritual gifts are an experience or inability God has given to you that he intends to use to build up others how you know what your spiritual gift is yours. I you. A lot of times you feel it sometimes and usually it's because other people tell you about it how God used you in their lives to number two.

Why is it crucial that I know what mine is our second question, what is your uniquely gifted.

See you have a particular gift and there are certain things that only you can do in ministry.

You told use your gifts. There will be people that God intended to reach through you.

Otherwise, never berates Miller the mention of this is to memorable experience fulfillment until you find your gift God saves use of the building used by him to the point, as many of you feel unfulfilled and bored, spiritually, you never experience the power of Christ splurging through you, but I know my sermons will never be entertaining enough to keep you coming back here week after week one interview that will come here be committed are the ones who have an awareness that God has a plan for you and he is using you to number three.

Why should I be involved in the church, but in these verses tell us that God reveals a part of himself to each of us, but it's only when all of us are together that we get a fuller picture of who God is. She what he said there you what you arrive at the knowledge of the son of God, attributing the church.

Some of you have experienced certain things like this in your life that I have experienced you experience God in certain ways because of how your life is gone that I have experienced and I want to know that the mention of God I got to know you. There's no other way so you become involved in the church because you want to know Jesus more. Furthermore, we know the power of God from this passage. It tells us the power got pushed through the church does. If you want the power of God to be a work in your life you got to be involved in the church. A lot of people pray to God. God help me God work in my life, but are not involved in the church and God's no in heaven. Listen to this is like okay what my power here, but you're not where I place my powers are where you put in a superpower yet. Put yourself in the place where I get like standing there with TV unplugged complaining that we work to be another power you plug it in boron power is a lot of people like our little God work in my marriage to your prayer is totally on God help me. My marriage what you want is for God like a SAPI from heaven with the Holy Ghost taser gun.

Suddenly you wake up in your perfect husband you are playing the harp singing love songs to Jesus and your wife. You know you're in a good mood. Your breath smells right in the morning your wife suddenly into use must be if you're now selfless God just fixed your marriage didn't work limited to get involved in a small group you get your around some people who could speak into my life and he could minister to me and they could show me how to have a guy relationship, but that's Plan B.

That's if this app doesn't work. This tell you that the church is planning that's how God does his work now to the body. I think this my elbow if it started itching little messes up my brain.

That's a prayer and says I itch help I can get myself so what is my brain to does my brain send a little electronic message back to the elbow that says stop I command you know it to the metal message to my digits on my right finger and it says go itch left elbow.

Now this is really deep. What just scratched the itch on my elbow. Was it my brain was my fingers. What a dumb question.

It's my brain through my fingers right my brain doesn't send a message down and take care of itself. It sends the body to do that. You want God to work in your life is through the church. The place where he has placed his power that he does that is at the point that I told you this last week and under the stars.

But I totally mean it. If you are praying for God to work in your life when you're not connected to his body was of spell out what I said that the Holy Ghost gets to me. It's seriously silly Gonzaga. Why would you play and then not like yourself and Ryan because you put yourself in the place where he flows his power. So the question was how ball should not be in the church based on chapter 4 I would tell you a better way to phrase the question is how much do you want Christ to be a part of your life that somewhat you should be involved in the church how much you want to know Christ. That's all about. You should be in the church are three questions now, in light of all this, let me tell you little bit of our philosophy of ministry of the summit discovered a method behind the madness. I think you're insane what's behind that makes us insight.

I understand you see this passage that God has filled you with his spirit with his gifts for the purpose of ministry to my role as a pastor is mostly to teach you to discover and how to access that power. My role as a pastor is not for you to come and be amazed at how strongly the power of God flows in me. I don't mean to be crude here, but when you're a baby you have to be fed and nursed by your mother, Veronica, my wife gets our youngest kid is a few months old out of bed several times a day, feeds him from her breast's role is to drink some and he recycles that into a neon rainbow collage of colors. Betty puts out in his own time, but she burps him and changes him and puts him back to bed.

They do this 6 to 8×8 and that's okay as a baby soon want to do that forever. Listen, I don't want your relationship to me to be anyway similar to that because that is disturbing on so I want to empower you nurse you want to empower you on what you grow up.

Paul says in verse 11 that pastors and teachers, that's me. We are put into the church to equip the saints for the work of the ministry is the ministry the saints states again at the football team, you you're the saints was the pastor's role was about control the rental Ripper equip your that's my role was. I equip you for ministry. That's why I tell people what I say this kind of tongue-in-cheek but actually totally minute. When I became a pastor. I left the ministry numbers to the ministry happens in the community for the power of God was to make the people I work with on a day-to-day basis work in the community. I work in the church. The people I work with on a day-to-day basis are mostly saved, not all of them of yourself. I got questions about but most of them are safe. You are in the community.

My role is to equip you see the power of God come to you as I point out all the time that of the 40 miracles in the book of acts 39 of them happen outside the church. The last thing I want to do is gather a group of people to bask in the gifts of one great leader. What I want to see your group of people empowered to be leaders themselves, not a group of people coming to be on at the power of God in me, but a group of people being released to take God's power into the community. The greatest access to power is not in me in the church in you in the community to the goal. The goal is to grow up in Christ do not depend on me. I want this to be a safe house where you spend all your time in a holy huddle Christians mess of this whole discipleship that for years Christians about discipleship is basically taking people out of the real world and dipping them in the Holy Ghost, Clorox in the put them in the church like a greenhouse and try to keep them away from that nasty world they don't get dirty master site. We define holiness by what you will avoid is not discipleship to be a disciple means that you come to know Jesus and you live like he did and he was not a man separated from the world. He was a man in the world to become a disciple means that you take God's healing into the world. Holiness is not what you will avoid holiness is becoming like Jesus and Jesus was a man who poured out his life see that all the time for church's inability to disinfect Christians.

They don't discipleship and discipleship is mission.

Our vision is seen Jesus released in and through you in the community contained in the pulpit wanted church is a fill like a like to mention what huddles a minute ago. It was like you're watching the Super Bowl I of the teams comes outcomes on the field now get around sheer quarterback on the play rolling on their head not clapped her hands. They all went back over the sit down on the sidelines in the sit there and mess with the cheerleaders for a while and then run back out the field to get around to get the huddle in the cornerback also play possibly groups like that is such a good picture of the church. A lot of places imagine football team around court not going man what a great way.

Nobody calls the place like you man you call a play to hear about my neck stand up in the cheerleaders a little dance they were doing with the worship team. They mandate really got me fired up about it wanted also play. I love this 3% sidelines for God sake play run the player not calling this blazer you can come back next time and do know how to listen to: play better run play play is not in the church. The plays in the community. I'll call the play.

Don't tell me what a good play to run it run play last thing a challenge for you. This will grow up. Some of you have been sitting on the side lines for so long. Stop complaining to me about how the church is not know your leads start be a part of the ministry people likely church. In doing this for me and I'm not be embedded in this area and I want to go good for you and put you down for now when you say that Ryan, my daughter, she's my youngest daughter. She liked to if she is not satisfied after dinner all she screams, they want something else Nana Nana which he doesn't get this image of certain church members may not die pretty easily changed. Seriously grow up. It's one thing when Ryan does not know I did that to Veronica.

After dinner I was like I'm still hungry. I think I wet my pants as you go change your old pants and if you're hungry think you sell something they use is this church trying to fix it. If you see a ministry that were not doing you get it started with the things you like about the church as if I think the church is perfect right to inform you about some areas that are not good. And then as soon as I know about them_the way my Holy Ghost want and everything is going to be fixed become readers with a complaint.

I promise you you will never come to me with a list of complaints about the church list. What's wrong with the church that is longer than my list right next on my list of what's wrong with God and put me here to fix the church with the spirit of God. Only in the put it in all of us see grow and evolve get up for you now take diapers all the time to be potty trained and let the spirit of God go to work. We close by giving you a little insight that makes all this make sense to talk either Christians you that are not Christians but don't explain to you why some of you feel so unfulfilled Christians or non-Christians see the Bible teaches. Get this that we are created in the image of God, so God made us the image of God, will God are two fundamental things about him. One is he is a Trinity which means there are three members of the Trinity is only one God. But what that means is that for ever in eternity past, God has always been in community. God is never been alone.

There's always been fellowship in the Trinity. Secondly, it tells us that God is love. It's the only description that is used of God where it says a predicate nominative God is something God is love in the way that God showed his love to us was by pouring himself out and giving himself or others, and coming to invest in and be a part of our lives follow you, are created in the image of God.

What that means is that you will never feel fulfilled. Until you like God are in community until you are pouring yourself out for others.

You catch that she that goes totally against the American cultures prescription on how to be fulfilled in life two words define the American dream for fulfillment. One is the word alone right below him in a relationship on the committee because marriage like a prisoner just ties you down you committed to give all to hear. You don't get connected because out of the prison doing a look. Don't have a lot of kids because kids totally encumber and mess up your life. We have kids get good movies anymore. Just whatever you want in life is about once a good movies and I like to screw that up alone.

The other word that describes the American dream is the word acquisition acquire money, wealth, power, get it and leverage it for yourself, you realize that is exactly the opposite of the image of God. God is community God is love. The reason some of you don't feel fulfilled is because your operating outside of your design your alone in your acquired in your created to be a community to be born yourself out as I is like any other. This I think if you decided that your car was not running smoothly and you thought in order to lubricate your car you put bacon grease – take to lubricate since someone level but is not a work is designed to do that your created to be in community your created to be pouring yourself out.

Therefore I tell you that's why some of you feel so unfulfilled. If you're a believer standing on the sidelines and get in the game days get involved in a small ball that is not a believer because it was all behind. This is a God who created these purposes and also your will, you keep going, dirty ministry using you.
