The weather forecast said bomb cyclone. That’s what happens when a winter storm rapidly intensifies as the atmospheric pressure drops. By the time night fell the blizzard conditions made the highway to the Denver airport almost impossible to see. Almost. But when it’s your daughter who’s flying home to visit, you do what you have to do. You pack extra clothes and water (just in case you get stranded on the highway), drive very slowly, pray without ceasing, and last but not least trust your headlights. And sometimes you can achieve the almost impossible.

Jesus foretold of a storm on the horizon, one that would involve His death (John 12:32–33), and one that would challenge His followers to stay faithful and serve (v. 26). It was going to get dark and be almost impossible to see. Almost. So what did Jesus tell them to do? Believe, or trust, the light (v. 36). That was the only way they could keep going forward and stay faithful.

Jesus would only be with them a little while longer. But believers have His Spirit as our constant guide to light the way. We too will face dark times when it’s almost impossible to see the way ahead. Almost. But by believing, or trusting in the Light, we can press on.

Hi friends and thanks for joining us for another daily reading from Our Daily Bread devotional. Today's encouragement is titled trust the light and it was written by John Blais. The weather forecast said bomb cyclone. That's what happens when a winter storm rapidly intensifies as the atmospheric pressure drops. By the time night fell, the blizzard conditions made the highway to the Denver airport almost impossible to see almost but when it's your daughter who's flying home to visit. You do what you have to do you pack extra clothes and water just in case you get stranded on the highway drive very slowly, pray without ceasing, and last but not least, trust your headlights and sometimes you can achieve the almost impossible in John chapter 12 Jesus foretold of the storm on the horizon, one that would involve his death and one that would challenge his followers to stay faithful and serve. It was going to get dark and be almost impossible to see almost so what did Jesus tell them to do believe or trust. The light that was the only way they could keep going forward and stay faithful. Jesus would only be with them a little while longer, but believers have his spirit is our constant guide to light the way we too will face dark times when it's almost impossible to see the way ahead almost but by believing or trusting in the light, we can press on today's Our Daily Bread devotional Scripture reading is from John chapter 12 verses 25 through 33 and 35 through 36.

Anyone who loves their life will lose it.

While anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Whoever serves me must follow me and where I am, my servant also will be my father will honor the one who serves me. Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say father, save me from this hour. No it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.

Then a voice came from heaven. I have glorified it, and will glorify it again, the crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered. Other said an angel had spoken to them. Jesus said, this voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world.

Now the prince of this world will be driven out and I when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die and now verses 35 to 36 then Jesus told them you're going to have the light just a little while longer walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going believe in the light while you have the light so that you may become children of light when he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Let's pray. Jesus darkness is all around us, and we often have a hard time seeing thank you for being the light in our darkness and for lighting the path before us. Help us learn to trust that you are leading and to follow you.

And when we stumble and fall because we've taken our eyes off you please pick us up and point us in the right direction again. Thank you Lord it's in your name that we pray. Amen on today's encouragement was provided by Our Daily Bread ministries
