Earliest memories was my dad. There's an old cemetery like Washington outside Glenallen were pretty much grew up after month. My grandparents on a lot of farmland around and so we were like Washington mom and dad's aunts was like Washington is mother died. Tom show his aunt basically raised him and so they live there, so he took care of him, arising out of, but when I was like maybe I 18 months old. His father and I remember I only like 2 1/2 or 3 PM at the cemetery, ball or something like that in and then him hugging me and crime. Probably the earliest member.

My mom was, the disciplinarian very very tough. We didn't have my family discussions and things like that but we were close enough or were having problems with my parents were just working busy in certainly later in life.

And after I got her things like that.

That definitely helped me open up to them a lot more about things.

I was on was 15 years old.

It was November 9, 1991 Anderson my best friend Jessica Solomon came had this my dog name Rask and didn't have any hair down years before all this happened. That was a farmer and he found it ran around the family name, has it had seizures all the time so she calmly conflict can now Rask was having major and have a license, you gotta earn Dr. all that and then her boyfriend Cory dropped her off at her boyfriends house.

I headed home.

Wayside got some gas and some chips and that's I think that's what I remember and I didn't know I was driving on a Mitsubishi Montero, near vehicle, anything but now should be there real time boxing, overcast and windy. I got about 5 miles down the road and I think I'm reached down change the radio station and a gust of man hit me right and not tie them come back on that was a big lip when I try to come back on and they think of like the front tire blew out her just called and so I just turned sideways and just start with an when out the windshield mousedown run couple hundred yards and but it was a vehicle coming towards me that stopped, and then we just by some miracle, there was sheriff about 2 miles behind me and he started out as an EMT and so when they found me all the days I was complete. My body was completely contorted and twisted so I wouldn't breathing because my diaphragm me can't without any need of a toe leather got up grandma legs and he grabbed my shoulders and they just they just makes me back as soon as I get up I said by Braden I, came to the house coming in and out in a lame but I didn't.

I didn't member sitting in and realizing and I tried to just get up and realizing I hadn't revelations I just lay back down tomato hospital in Greenville and then made him Jackson and I guess the now stage, and the doctors don't pay you know it's permanent and I never walk again. Nationalities try to give you some good things in their people that get hurt.

Six months after year after they start getting my stuff.

I was always that that hope and pray like please let me start walking this couple and probably a couple years before gave up on that stuff in the sense that you have your 15 think I was embarrassed about being in a wheelchair member, parents taking me back to school, my first day it was just and you can only imagine what that must be like in love telling the stories you hear right from the person themselves and I know Hayden is my daughter's dentist and he doesn't know it guys on my heroes. We return to Hayden Europe where they heartless, hard, nine my support base was also my friends are often school everybody on me and my friends never to be a allow me to not be all day things I may just grab me by going hunting now that was being out. It was just that first year tape.

I'm a freshman software. I mean I just had a tough time but is like you can sorry for yourself and wish you could a man whatever he can make the best of it. I had not really a lot of people can't get over can't get past.

Things like that. I was just able to have people ask me all the time and I guess around about will change thing really and honestly I wouldn't I would go back and change it just convicts so I am just now. I just don't contain the last time I thought about Mistress, the part of me and my mom I get, frontloaded, rug or some file for some custom Rugrats, but I don't think conflict will chair what and this will never end. Like it's just a part of me I don't think, like when I see somebody else in wheelchair.

I think wheelchair but I don't. I never use the never never see myself and Nona started hundred like going back to I could go back and change things. I would think it was and I was making grades I was actually eaten most handsome man had the pretty girlfriend and I don't think I was headed to a path to where I would be right now if it were not have hundred percent, where David on the and it made me think the whole injury and all of it to make me guess, maybe a fighter give up and don't take no for an if I get my head around some pretty noncommon housing site college try and figure out. No member who said it was slightly science and all that stuff wishes, didn't grab nothing make a lot of money and Ethan sat there. Consider this Peter's memory: a slight okay so I start out in computer science and I took my first calculus class in computer programming class slight not in them. I had a I was home for something and I had a dental appointment with my dentist in Grable you know we got to talk and I we now think we talked about me being a dentist decided right now. I like people will Dennis sit down all day long that some started to change my major and I had to really work hard to study hard and I had people, parents even me. Have a backup plan if you can know no back, not death close Monday and 1000 and getting summer break. I was home for the summer, my friends, this is only always had a bunch of girls this anyway and we didn't know I had ever met her before and now she is dressed in a course in regards her own car, you probably know a lot that night when guarding dating almost immediately I knew a lot of people in college that may be in wheelchair, the problem initiate uniform date. Mary don't think she ever saw, never allow me to use it as an excuse or even coming up. Talk about so we got married in May 1995 to 95 so I was a junior she was senior saw the study in ecology one night back as I change my biology and pre-Madden said were studying and she calls me and says I think I might be pregnant and how slight. What an outside our smart man like okay I irritated not irritated that she was saying this is pregnant but I was like she's not pregnant and I'm irritated I got stop stated I got to go to Walmart and get a pregnancy test in government or some when Walmart's course on the window and Michael met Lukens and it's up get a pregnancy test and I go over and I got Pamela transit counseling and guest bathroom back.

She painted it has a plus on and I remember us it was the weirdest just a spontaneous response. We both just started dying out laughing. We just laughed hysterically and then minute, hit us by going on a date. Not a lot of stages in my life that got me, to where I am and that was, that was private. The next big one that really lit a fire in me even stay even harder and even better because it was really and it failed time without mature – probably regret Riverfest.

I think they were just, wake-up calls will chair when I got her and told her to have an baby and you not not married name your your your and college and just things I think I would think back on it now slight count know how to we did but we did nightmare younger like that.

You just is just different. Like if I had to go back and do it on my days as I you just, and survival made time to get to the time you get to that next step. When I got in school and she got in spring freshman year dental school. We had twins and a lot of people howling down school and have a two-year-old and when newborns life working everyday desk work in basically had a full-time job. Dental school may times with family. Looking back on it was I guess it didn't seem that in my goodness, what storytelling and what a voice he talked about the fact that he could sit around feeling sorry for himself. Wishing what might've been get on with things.

He's a pediatric dentist. The age of 15 was a horrible accident that paralyzed him from the waist down.

He married his wife Jessica in college and work hard to become a pediatric dentist despite all the odds against him back to Hayden. You can't be a victim that we see that a lot these days, and is always a excuse that I can do some because this know whether it's an injury here, gender-based or race-based anything like that is just you can thing your mind to have raised up raised boys that way push them, push them, push them. I don't try to be, but I think I'm probably a pretty good example of whatever coming down school. I was at the time I know I didn't know there was no there was some concern with the admissions board about me being able to do some questions and interviews are not real direct block, you know what they were about houses, is what it Kant uses the data rheostat controls everything as something that I didn't never knew that was at work but I think about it I care figured out how to keep his tanks clean things like that but I is not something I thought about a robot is never listening.

That's what do you do it and figure out how to make. Sometimes I'll go in the rooms and the beast, and sometimes they'll even say some I remember several times going like today I was in the operating room and I'll go to the room.

The parents fully.

We go back and a lot of times the grandma will be there with grandmama wasn't at the initial appointment by snapping their union and its CZ you talk a little Susie radix teeth claim – and going through all the stuff and I can see the grandmama just, almost a little dazed just surprised and I know enough heading. Some of them asking I'll get to talk and then you know soon enough you think this is the only problem I don't just ask you when they're not embarrassed of ask questions and they just a little surprised that you and a lot of them think that it was that I was hurt after it's lot more shocking or surprising to them when you not tell me not know 15 and you still want to dental school. I think that's a weird or strange observation that were reaction that people have that if you're disabled or business certain things you can't do worse expected not to achieve aerobic things are after I was hurt and obviously off I was depressed about a lot of things but the press that I couldn't find things that I used to love doing football and have different scorching golf and I still miss golf.

I get sad and lonely without the beach and the boys are and I love playing golf, things like that that I do know when I say I don't ever think about it or don't, there are things like that that ID on that they make me sad but maybe I get sad that you have selected now and Hayden's for were down at the beach. Wish I could walk down the beach with their blade splashing in flex. That's a specific file. I guess I've had is going to the beach and not play with her. Go out of the water and hold up in all the other dads again in anything that I can't Dave run into my get that I think about it. I say no, I'm not. You can do anything well there are limitations on can't get up and run out to the water model beach there are things like that that I might get a little emotional about sad about things that I do miss maybe I miss out on that. I wish I could do that I don't lose sleep over.

Think about it just doesn't lysis short and I've gone through periods of my life after I got her work comes down about things not minimum which are you only get so much time here in Uganda got a play with anything that self and go. And that's what I've tried to do I get I get down worry about something stressed about something you know I just can't remember how blessed I feel like I am to be where I am.

Catch myself a lot of time.

Sam really will look at how successfully you have much God has blessed you and you're right about not having enough to do more just got sky live life soft light laying on the last couple months I've had like this anxiety stuff about doing this writer probably should've done this in the past and I sell this I get some middle age worry about go to Stickley paraplegics logically have significantly but it's elected.

Statistics may be just a little and maybe that is you know you just you have something going on and you don't know melanoma or something on your half buried in our sum, bladder cancer, something that you would you have some pain or something from your doctor about. I worry about that. Especially not for your own in still room for the most part their irrational thoughts things that she can't control and nice things in the past that you did or unit do things in future that you cannot tell if I leave here I get on Highway 90 hit by a Mack truck this you can't control it, stop something promising you think about if I'm gonna die to I can do everything I can go to Dr. every year in six moons physical things earlier than most.

You should notice like a roller coaster for me I'm right on top and then I wake up in 2 AM working on their small there's just another another thing in life. That's happened I guess she can't in any discussion guide and litigate and live life is too short, the story of Aiden Perkins, his wife Jessica is beautiful kids. Tom had an unusual upbringing grew up on Long Island, New York, living behind a funeral parlor run by his family come.

I was there on Saturday morning when the sheriff arrived to talk to grandma.

It was the day after the big snowstorm will my folks were away and stayed with grandma overnight. But each time I was too young to stay home alone but staying at grandma's was not too cool because you see Sharon funeral home. Sometimes there were dead bodies only a few steps from the living room at the back of the house where we watch TV. It was hard to get to a lush, well I looked over at the dog Galway leading to the body's that Friday night was a very old lady didn't wake and one of the jobs. Mrs. Jackson, a friend of grandma's died of transit the sheriff set up the kitchen table with his notebook in front of yes grandma unusual but up on the last night because they were searching for an escaped convict from the present to towns away is a murder and very dangerous. Sheriff said was setting up roadblocks to try to catch them.

Grandma didn't answer directly but said we have a funeral going out this morning, old Mrs. Jackson.

We had to put her in the closed casket because the transfer was so bad the hearse of the limos to be able to get to the cemetery.

Grandma house. Yes, this you replied the road is open to the cemetery.

What about anything happening last night. Grandma gave me a stern look that he couldn't see told him nothing. It happened it was real quiet.

She said I didn't say a word, but the sooner the sheriff left I asked her what was going on. It wasn't like Grandma's whole life shook her head and started to cry, but thought back about last night and remembered that shortly before dog. Grandma kept looking out the side window on the driveway every few minutes since she was expecting the delivery of new Christians. Suddenly there were yellow headlights shining on the snow outside the window in a loud knocking trim on the side door where the caskets will broaden Fred.

The driver shouted. I have to hurry before I get snow them loaded to caskets and started on another one. Wait. Grandma said I only ordered 23. I have to leave this one to Fred said I'll never get to the funeral home in the next and I don't want the way the truck okay. Grandma said help you out after he was gone.

Grandma closed up tight. My folks were supposed to call the CL things were, but the phone wasn't working. The TV weatherman said the lines were down all over and roads were closed so we will all by ourselves. After a while I started to fall asleep. Grandma help me upstairs and put me into a soft featherbed. She left the door open. The little socialite came in.

I remember that I fell asleep but woke up later when I thought I heard voices downstairs and started to get out of bed but it was so cold.

I crawled back the next morning I asked grandma about it but she said I must dreamed. Later in the morning. The men who worked for grandma came in and downloaded the casket into the hearse. My folks came to pick me up. I saw grandma holding onto my father saw him and talking to her to say I need your help. She took him into their office and closed the door.

I thought I heard her crying was five years later when grandma died that my folks told me the real story of what happened that Friday night, it seemed that the voices I thought I had heard those grandma escaped the caskets that were delivered the one made by prison labor convict with the nickname of rabbit hidden in one of those empty caskets had left rabbit has opened the inside glass and let himself out of the casket. He didn't know grandma had fallen asleep. Big chair in the living room and she woke up startled and scared to see him standing there, the fireplace holding a large knife. She had taken from the embalming room threatening silence by holding the life under her throat. Yes, for talk to you some money. But grandma didn't have a car and drive when they realize that the storm had blocked the roads and there was no phone service. Yes grandma once someone was coming with a car. She told him that there was one funeral scheduled for next morning. The roads were men coming with the hearse and missing what he saw some of my things on the couch and found out that I was upstairs.

Grandma pleaded with them to let me sleep. She would help them get in the casket with Mrs. Jackson and be taken away on the hearse to the next morning to the cemetery. He could then sneak out of the casket one was left in the cemetery storeroom for a few minutes until the family arrived rabbit didn't like the deer at all, especially getting the coffin with the side of the other had no other choice, but he made it very clear the grandma that if she was following him and he was caught escape again until not only her, but also all of the family. Grandma was terrified by this evil man was arranged early onset of the morning grab would get into the casket and then grandma would close it unless church he was very hesitant, especially when he saw smelled old Mrs. Jackson.

But finally he climbed holding his nose, threatening grandma with a painful death of things didn't work out. Also wanted grandma to get him some hot coffee thermos so they could drink it cold in the casket and she did so just before closing the lid. The plan did work when the man came and took the trust for the way loaded grandma hadn't said anything about rabbit being in the casket's private meeting with grandma my Godhead immediately called the sheriff the range.

Sale.

The police still hadn't found rabbit despite the roadblocks and searches of the nearby forests. They were mystified as to how we could've disappeared so completely sheriff. My dad said that you know this man was a murderer who would stop at nothing to escape told the sheriff how rabbit hidden in the casket of the prison grandma's funeral home. He also explained how rabbit had threatened grandma family so she was forced to help them escape Mrs. Jackson's casket. What said the sheriff.

Why didn't you call me as soon as he was in the casket I could've mapped them right now. She was too scared sheriff continued a little smile playing around his lips and pride in his voice.

She was also smart enough to script the large amount of sleeping pills into the coffee. She gave him to drink too much after the sheriff thought for a moment and said wait rabbit drank that coffee you might have been buried alive in the casket with Mrs. Jackson, the sheriff almost shouted as he got his phone out will have to dig up the casket immediately. If we find them in the casket I had to take grandma into custody should could be in a lot of trouble. Wait. My dad said wait a minute sheriff before you do anything. Wait, no, we cannot lose any more time that man may still be alive if there was enough air in the casket may be, is the sheriff was now calling to his assistance as he rose from his chair. Get the car ready ready to roll call the Carla no sheriff please listen my father replied quietly sit. You see, there is no casket, no casket sheriff looked confused because there is just they had the funeral and was buried this morning know my father replied why you see sheriff Mrs. Jackson's class wishes without should be cremated. My goodness, it does not get better than that folks, Ryan story, his grandma story. My goodness.

Poor rabbit story here on our American story
