Mrs. L American stories we tell stories about everything from the show. Some of our favorite stories about the men and women who serve our nation in uniform throughout its nearly 24 year career Lockheed SR 71 blackbird spy plane remained the world's fastest and highest flying operational aircraft from 80,000 feet the conservative 100,000 mi. of Earth's surface in a mere hour. SR 71 pilot Brian tool recalls in his book the driver flying the world's fastest are a lot of things we couldn't do in SR 71. We were the fastest guys on the block and loved reminding our fellow aviators of this fact is made usual with his legendary story known today as the LA speed check all the LA speed story and I just I bet one day it was really cool being me. In SR seven on Pablo Lauter and I were doing a training mission around the United States. We just rebuild enough hours in time to take off that meal, a tanker in Idaho Ripon up to a Montana zip across Denver.

Hang a right turn Albuquerque out over Los Angeles up to Seattle back in the Sacramento two hours 21 minutes and you just do that for backward CD tanker to just gain crew coordination get Bilger hours were on our last training mission. Moreover, Tucson. I can see downtown LA from Tucson were 89,000 feet. I can see the whole western United States. Bathed in a warm October fall below, I can see the chain of Rocky Mountains from Canada to New Mexico like I could just be the most beautiful picture laid at my feet in the air smooth as glass not engage moving in the cockpit.

It was perfect nonthinking. We bad I feel sorry for Walter because he has to monitor five radios in the backseats I flip the switch up just to listen and LA sinners controlling they control on when you fly Southwest Airlines are the guys control and everybody were above controlled airspace so that they have us on the scope, but they're not talking to us now.

This controls all of the country Jacksonville Center Chicago center Seattle Center. It's the same guy they all talk the same is really cool the way they talk because they make you feel important. As a pilot. They don't just say yeah okay here's your make you feel really cool, so sure enough, there's this is pre-GPS day some Cessna guy Heston was ground speed like center says no November 10 love you got a ground speed radio course center would like to say who cares get a free talk to Mike is John Glenn Cessna November show you 90 not paying 0 kn on the ground song but that's how the it makes you feel kinda cool right after that a twin bonanza came up to pimp the guy for speed. I guess and LA center to impeach whatever you got a ground speed radio force and center likes the cats Friday, why me God please just get a free talk to Mike is Air Force One twin Beach 20 120 kn on the ground and right after that the Navy F-18 out of the more popped up on frequency and you knew was a Navy guy because he talked really slick on the radio center testified Tuesday. Check and I'm thinking wait a minute, testified to you as a ground speed indicator nine million-dollar F-18 cockpits right there in a heads up display.

Why is he calling center to broadcast this again. It's just the meanest dad's fastest military jet in the valley today would take another little horny jet over Mount Whitney in rent and across death Valley. We want everyone from Fresno to the coast to know what reels beat it, you can almost hear little little glean the controllers most likely a put an end to this. 626 20 kn across the ground was that across the ground. See that little knife like I hope nobody else has the nerve to get on frequency and it wasn't an airliner from Seattle to San Diego. The want to be next on frequency and the netiquette thing among suppliers in a 12-year-old was reaching for the Mike charge the readers a single seat all those years when I'm in the family model now and I like not the Navy them is died. Must die now. I want us to be good crew at that moment I heard a click of the mic button in the back seat.

Ladies and gentlemen, well tonight became a crew at that moment is best innocent voice LA center Aspen 30 have you get up grants be great if you can almost hear a collective gasp on freak like all the four fools didn't hear the previous transmissions that get crushed like a great it's it's just the pilot thing, but center had to give you that same voice Aspen trees that we show you 1992 not cross the ground when I know you like Walter a lot is when he came back said center were shown little close thousand ladies and gentlemen, we did not hear another trans mission on that frequency thinking he'd lived. The Navy had been flamed in a crew had been formed for just a moment. It was absolutely fun be in the fastest guys in the block. You been listening to major Brian should rule the story of the SR 71 blackbird doing a little speed check go off a little bit.

By the way little about shoe 212 combat missions were shot down the end of the Vietnam War, unable to reject was forced to ride the plane into the jungle, was rescued by Army special forces so badly burned that he was given next to no chance to live.

Brian spent a full year of the military hospital where he underwent 15 medical procedures was told he would never fly Ryan miraculously return full flight status. Finally, a seven family 810 and went on to be an instructor at the Air Force's Top Gun school. I was real life people from real life people's career culminated in flying the SR 71 blackbird Brian was the pilot provided Pres. Ronald Reagan. Detailed photos of the Libyan terrorist camps in 19 major Brian shows SR 71 blackbird story.
