Kingdom pursuits where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary passion together we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into the kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore we are loaded from error today on this December.

Eighth edition of kingdom pursuits and you'll find out why. Well, I'll just jump right in and Spokane. Here we have Deanna stoped with the Bair foundation and and so when you think of the Bair foundation you're thinking about is that a foundation that doesn't have anything on it is despair. Are you thinking about a foundation that has a Bruin cut the beer in a yeah or in your case it has to do with what foster care and adoption, foster care and adoption. And while what a cool thing to think about this time a year trying yeah absolutely is not really transitional time here for a lot of families and came out making a change in the new year and it really is and and my wife and I went through that training at one point in time I'm very interested to find out the Bair foundation tells your role in that process. Mine specifically I'm there. Every cell in place to be right here on recruiting people to actually foster hop on board become foster parents, and maybe should start the process over again, and next up we have a whole host of bears really seriously.

We have Roy Jones will Hardy and Dave you say right from lever debris were yes Dave Reaver and they are with the fifth annual man's summit which is coming January 19 to be hearing a lot about this on Truth Network is coming up January 19 at six First Christian Church in Kernersville from 9 to 3 that Saturday but Roy we got that this one she and adduce day force in a little bit about what's going on sure things. Robbie, Dave, thanks for doing this is working.

He was okay great well understood Dave's Vietnam War hero someone we just on everyday Lynn tailored about himself and not comedies will share with us when he gets here and not January were just excited to have them.

So we made an reduction today through Nikita called off as a friend of the ministry as well. So with that alternative. Dave, I will not all words are on so I take it you are in the Navy throughout the groundwater right or donor on the little boat down the canal of the jungles of Vietnam and my armor all went very much so that while I had to jump in the store candy right you know people in here about this story now wanting to left as it sounds like it's can be amazing and so when you hear a lot more work for me.

I'm good to go. When you got now. Yeah, where were ready for the word, we know you know we got you can tell that this is a reason you don't listen the day but you know we are listeners are expecting Robbie's riddle so and we talk about the men summit and speaking of summit. Some might think that the Triad men summit Dr. Tony Evans last came last year to think about that Roy may even wonder if summit climbers ever rest my need to think through that ever rest you can even say it was high time for the summit to bring out Dr. Benji, Kelly, and also obviously Dave Reaver right but Reaver I get it right but uses a here.

I told Jabir for coming so Nikita cholos uncle Ivan the Russian bear, if you're familiar with him. He was in peak condition when he went over the mountain to see what was Bruin human sleep yeah I got my I'll say that again because it was so good.

Uncle C. Nikita cholos is a professional wrestler had oncoming uncle Ivan Roloff was referred to as Russian bear and he was in peak condition when he went over the mountain to see what was Bruin, which leads the actual riddle so that people can win today if they can answer this and this is really I'm really tickled by my riddle this week and it is with summit climber in the Bible was in peak condition not a Raven madman after his encounter with the birdfeeder so we got will about anyway which summit climber in the Bible 90 can answer. It's just the people calling it 866-34-TRUTH so they can win today wait to hear what we have a great price which summit climber men summit right which mittens summit climber in the Bible is in peak condition not a Raven madman after his encounter with the birdfeeder. Rachel thinking just that, knowing were giving away a couple tickets for the Wake Forest versus Davidson basketball game on December 17. Basketball tickets December 17 and somebody started calling because they have discerned, which summit climber in the Bible is in peak condition not a Raven madman after his counter with the birdfeeder and you can still have a chance to 866-34-TRUTH 87884 866-34-TRUTH so they're all lined up for a lot of people know about Roy getting back to the men summit.

Some of the other speakers on background on who they sure got the been to Kelly from a dermal gelato New Hope church. We've also got Kimberly Foreman and the fiddle player from Pittsburgh Steelers. Also, Chicago Bears plagued University of Georgia bears yell I told you we are loaded for bear to David Aleman on the back is that of course David is on the line with us were honored to have him in the US are more, but historians do most of the course and passed Michael Thomas from love and faith here in Greensboro North Carolina so we got a real a diverse speaker record. Exciting good for the summit and we have Kathy and I point to Kathy, I'm sorry that you do you know do you know which summit climber in the Bible is in peak condition not a Raven madman after his counter with the birdfeeder. You are exactly right. And so never Robbie's II have pondered this and I have all these men of God with me women of God today to help me with this and and you're here to Kathy to help me is that Elijah and Elisha realize that I so will I be near you take a moment. Yes, you think it's Elijah and Elisha. Elisha about the other one that went after the bear, it's Elijah. Okay the never-ending question we could even get Dave in here but we will hang on for Dave, thank you.

Your winter they Kathy got right. We also have Tom is in Denver, North Carolina hope Tom is still with us. I Tom yeah yeah yeah you know which summit climber in the it was Elijah there you go see there is a man after my own heart a long time. I am also a Nikita and Ivan: thank you really know this is your plan was Nikita.

Technically, his nephew, and I don't know where it is made Nikita at the Russian, I'm just asking loaded. There the day on the what thank you for calling Tom Ewing as well. We come back to hear more from Dave is legally hear that story to hear more about right. The bear foundation where we hear how God takes your and uses it to build the kingdom. Today we are loaded for bear as we've mentioned, as we have yet to start with this with the bear foundation. We have Roy Jones will Hardy and Dave Reaver with the fifth annual men's summit so you begin to prepare for 2019 on Tony one of the cool things always on the calendar for last five years has been the men summit.

It's can be at First Christian Church in Kernersville last year it was packed out they were. You couldn't buy tickets. By the time the last days were there so you might want to go to the website can pursue.com and get your tickets early as this is gonna be another summit you get to climb all the way up there and eat from the birdfeeder anyway and just coincidentally there's a big deal going on at the summit church in Briar Creek on January 8 right for you guys for the bear foundation and from 6 to 9 feet p.m. and if you want to write this number down. You canrsvp@9195738834unitedkingdompursuits.com and have all the information for you little bit later, but when we left our hero Dave. He was in a boat he was in. Did you say your Navy worker called groundwater lot right now will we are symbiotically looking okay are and so you are describing writing in this boat and go ahead and take boat made of fiberglass. Vulnerable war language on very on all boat but one of the back of the market on top of that in the middle and all God. Follow all of that week boat on July 20 year following the war will not stop without a job done. All my thought and movement.my lot. Wow so you went through this grenade and TBI and the lost more than not that the ball that I would think about that Lala and helicopter pick me up off the bike, followed by one of the water did not blame the white box line on the lawn that was burning on the bike and I a van that it might bring to my heart. You and I remember that back, my little junior high school sweetheart became my wife Maggie when I was 16. She scrappy birthday body will not worry about got married and my future that day picking up Bob bold was on the day of the bomb and my fingers off my right hand.

They got back on the work and took off my blade all about Bill about trying to be nice looking man. My wife Karen being in public long and the lack 40 years and the last Last year and 1/2. I again want to again thank God I have no business here, I know my dog like the one you Bible dear Paul.I'm looking around while there like that one is what the world I looked around my dear Jill… Gone about a bill that would they bought their L.bold here, but I would not only want me going on my back is normal lot away.

Hard Bob Bob contacted 911.*Rectitude Afghanistan, Kuwait, Oman, UAD Bosnia" on all of the world. The trainer of the conference program in the military for lawful branches so as you is your company to do the men's summit and I know there's a lot of men right now that I think you know how I got here this you know what what what you encouraged these guys to show up at the church there on January 19, lot five somebody you all that work God and give them hope the boat, there's no more bar and let me go. But I will do my lot. What you might note my lot that will will one the last. In order that we often share with them. Hope they will more than nine more more than body out. But on the lot now and in the sea listen to that bear foundation is interesting how God had him in such a place for such a time as this right there as he was teaching him and him and walking with him as he would become more Christlike through an unbelievable ordeal. But even there at the bear foundation youth. You came a year and 1/2 gone. One, how is if is there a story since you've been there. That year and 1/2 workout showed up and you said oh, this is why you have me here at the bear foundation so I could see what God did with this family with this child being adopted or this child being fostered dozens of stories like that so many kids that kind I wanted to jump all of your mind and say yeah that one just touched my heart – I think that your brother we have in our program. Here is and how and women in her mid-70s he left on her so well and the family that she met her family of origin. Her biological family is working so hard to get her back in their home in this relationship between the foster mom biological parents is really just an cell transformative for both of them work together to really help heal their little girl has been incredible and there are innocent things about that biological family and the foster family that have a lot of differences, like differences in opinion and just come together and and through child being in foster care for family has come to know the Lord and the foster mom has been able to minister to them. The family as well and not when we are able to help not only see a child that I family heal family and content alike.

That's really where things start to make a difference in my mind.

Wow wow and and so inside of that understanding it, you know, when we when we went into the foster program. My wife and I you know we we all thought it was about adopting kids and very readily we realized it could very well be about reuniting a family that that you're just kind of the step in for a period of time so that family can get their act together so that child could be with her biological parents and then while for them to have her come in. I'll have a situation where they come to Christ and then you got these new believers. I meanwhile Larry dear Lily dear that yeah that's Baptist that is really really cool and you guys are in Raleigh, Raleigh, Asheville and Flemington in this state. State so you can see the foundation is all over the place and so really you have a chance in obviously you play football and stuff like that you didn't go through losing your face that although you do have a face for radio when you agree with day was encouragingly told me to be some I will be less and less attractive than the sum of solicitors. Just turn the story about foster program at the sneer, our hearts, we should adopt a little girl some years ago. She's been with the snuggling seven years. She had a very difficult journey. So what has always interesting to me how God has used to find appointments for the people. Many friends on the show that I really don't have any understanding of intelligence chance to hear what is involved so we got more coming from Dave from we got Deanna and Roy and William heard his story was that title. And it's so cool to see how God takes your and uses it to build the kingdom and when you look inside of Deanna story. There were the bear foundation, the passion that she have her adoptive parents.

Roy's passion for men's ministry. Clearly Dave's passion for men's ministry is God's allowed him to go on a different journey than many of us, but they've will ask this really wonderful question that is one of my favorite questions to ask actually is a host that in the book of second Corinthians the first chapter. Since God comforted us that we might write comfort others for the comfort that he comforted us with some wondering in your life. Have there been other people with similar injuries such that God is brought you into their life to share your all "American airline foundation will very strongly and Mongo look at me one day. No be affected.

I cannot Bob on board did not go to town. The limping diabolically Bob about their life. I know how you feel, believe me.

And that God will is awesome again.

You can see what a way to start your 2019 church in Kernersville and attended fifth annual Triad area men. Why do you can say it better than me. Roy said it's just meant some 2000 like to try sorted down the wrong that's great with his host about talking walking Christian men's ministry, which is a nonprofit based here in Greensboro so and we can adapt their life began working be doing a remote so we would love to see you and others were doing kingdom pursuits and and and it is just become part of my annual thing is to get a chance to kinda catch the vision for what God's going to be doing in 2019 and likewise, if you happen to be in rot in the Raleigh area of the summit church which most people rally for the summit church. I think church it's on Brier Creek and that's coming up January 8, Tuesday, six, and what is that event exactly.

It's an information session sets for effects that are interested in fostering and fostering to adopt a cannot just hear more about our program. We have current foster parents.

They are speaking in a such as better and more eloquent job. Then I can deal where anyone on my staff can you talking on their experience and like to be a foster parent, just in general and with our program smilingly talk pretty in depth about the process and licensure and how to become a foster parent and and that leads into an eight week course as our program essentially is so awesome and you have a story along those lines. Yes, our daughter will several years ago gets caught up in the Toledo non-look massive economic change that most people with limited time.

And wasn't long after that my wife came home from visiting "normal filaments of the grid was adopted child explore that option.

I just got laid off method times not like the only session in the other section in the secular point of view and thus we just put that on hold. Three years later, God.

What we have today was doing morning devotions, blessed Lord. If we miss doing something you ask us to do things just seem to be still little bit out kilter and it was a good place spiritually but financially things were quite where they need to be and we are still struggling some of things so we just missed something in soon as I said the prior address the question of God merely personal my heart that you have interest adoption journey in the sub picked up the phone and call the life and so have got some news for you. Just what is it so we got to finish the adoption journey. She started laughing and I said what's so funny. She said that was displayed last week about that hasn't left my heart little God is not speak directly to you and that was that was January 2012. Our daughter was being told that, she's been put up for adoption. She was orphaned at birth in the Ukraine and brought to the US at the age of three by her adoptive mother to Lenore North Carolina. Her adoptive mother died of cancer at the age of 10 when she was 10, and she's been there seven times and we were introduced to her that's on our wedding anniversary.

May 25 as we got to meet her for the first time she came to live with us in August is been with us ever since. So now she has family for lifetime. She will never never never become other days there's no one there for her.

She's got brothers and sisters and their sister and mom and dad at the moment as long as God keeps us here so she's got a family that she can call her own until the date of the classrooms at a sauce and then will you have a chance to observe all this from the sidelines. I'm curious your viewpoint because it out will is is like Roy's, you know, when you see Roy often see will and will is this contemplative month payment word right, all that smart, but he thinks all the time and and when he had some say better listen because it's can be awesome so I'm curious as as an observer of the of this, what, what a juicy well I think I saw in Roy and his situation. A man who simply stands on the truth of the gospel and having a love for me in and a desire to see me in walk the walk and talk the talk of a Christian man giving them this opportunity with the resources in the course our ministry is just built off of these four pillars of equipping and empowering and encouraging and driving this desire in man to simply want to be a man and lead according to as the Scripture has direct them to so sitting on a siding being being with Roy and being part of the ministry is a great experience.

We seeing man's life's change in the previous four summits that we've had man coming to an agreement with themselves that they have to make changes in order to impact the household in which they live.

The community in which they involve and and society in general and listen the way he just modeled it from my perspective only goes to God in prayer and says no when am I missing, what did I not do and then God told him and he was obedient right that you know. Therein lies a big part of what I'm sure the Blair foundation is about prayer and praying that God will supply because you're aware of the needs but obviously they way over shadow the resources right yes I mean there think stepping into obedience is really that we ask family city of just a few feet down the time I'm not in the business as convincing someone to be a foster parent adoptive parent is the large job. He calls people to himself and that way and if that's something that you feel cocktail just email challenge that's a step into obedience and just follow what the Scripture calls us to do so often, I think, usually not all the time that mom is the one tomboy dad is the one it's a little bit unsure and they in effect second try classes not really sex a transition throughout the process of learning about trauma and how children sound like your daughter was affected by the trauma at the foster care system in the last payment and I think the more that fits here about the need and the reality as children has experienced, there are missing the half million children in the foster care system in the country today in wake County and accounting that surrounds Raleigh.

There are over a thousand there are 1200 churches in wake in the surrounding counties one family from every church became a foster family went home and eat anymore and I would also say that having attended those classes that you learn some phenomenal stuff about parenting. I mean really, as it turned out, I know we we didn't qualify as is. It worked out that we could be foster parents, and I was okay because I will never trade the learning experience of understanding a lot about trauma and what the fostering systems about in these children go through things and just of the simple no easy thing that I learned was like reason why kids run away.

Is there trying to take control of an uncontrollable situation and I think about so much my life I've been trying to run away and you know that's extremely practical. But if you want to take control you know of something that you know all the sudden you feel like you and that's reason why people quit jobs. That's the reason II will I is is I set there and I listened to that teaching. There was so much there that was really really valuable that God I think For us. You know, as part of that journey and and I know I would never, ever, I would recommend anybody spend some time really understanding the process understanding what fostering is about and then your hats just off to the people that did walk in that and and and it is so much part of the men's ministry right will I mean that being a parent is a big big deal indeed and and having a man man who is in the family who understands the truth of the gospel and is a leader within the family.

I think the he is the one who needs to be the model for you know his wife and children leaving in the church leading them in a way that would be productive not only for his family.

In general, but the community church live now, just like I asked Deanna how long does it take to put a child now and I wouldn't have to find answer that question. On the other side of the break so you stay tuned estimate for King of since coming up kingdom pursuits.com find out when the summit is find out more about the Blair foundation, their hair, their nothing but take acting as we been loaded for bear today with the Blair foundation Deanna Stolte again, this is about foster care and adoption and this is an organization there in Raleigh and where they work, but I know this wonderful bit that God provides us with so many different fascinating passions that I get a chance to work with think I've ever had anybody specifically with this particular specialty but also Roy Jones will Hardy is there.

Talk about the fifth annual men's summit is coming January 19 and can put that on your calendar. It's can be about 56 Saturday from now.

That will be there will be there live but you need to get there early because it's can start at nine even before the Christian starts at nine I go through 3 o'clock and there's lunch is food involved.

I'm just saying you got man, you gotta have food and I got I've got me that food several times.

As always, good there. We always make sure to take care of the hundred hundred men, but that the real food they're going to get is going come from Nikita coal offered by the way, you know he's gonna be hosting it. But he's gonna be bringing this team of speakers Michael Thomas from from Greg's Pro I Mino 11 facing greens for a lot of our listeners are familiar with Michael one. I'm excited about is to morally use he's an X bear Pittsburgh Steelers Mason testimony there with him rubbing hit rock bottom and was ready to call it quits likely a policeman intervened and was trying to commit this suicide but the police officer determines the amazing story of God's turned his life around his kingdom right he's gonna be there as well as Dave Royer lever they really we just heard from this course is hosted by Nikki McLaughlin so you know that selfless can be high-energy and and it's going to be a lot of fun. So again Mark your calendars for that but we want to go back to Deanna and and and I'm really curious how you originally got involved with this aware why that passion for you – this is a long story. I have a lot of family that has been adopted from Russia and China and grapple with a lot of adopted cousins and just always felt called to foster welcome primarily to adoptive ministry and on and after graduating from college, spending some time in the Netherlands and worked for an adoption ministry there and really thought that Smiley be long-term. That man I just felt God calling me to serve my community back home and serve a kids in a kind in my own backyard and families here and Moving back here ringing involved here so you are over there and another was taken with the shoes and Shirley Temple windmills in the mountains, and in those kind of things and and you really can you take us back to that moment at all.

It like you'd like, but Roy talked about a minute ago. He is praying and all of a sudden God showed up. Can you can you can climb inside a little bit welcoming only when you sell Dutch people start learning English at a very early age and sell an elementary school. He started taking English classes that children that I was working with. They were not yet speaking English, so I'm speaking broken – two children and not super effective wagon. It wasn't so much wine particular moment for me. Just over a period of time and really praying about what God has for me where he wanted me to be and realizing I am not making the type of impact. TR Jackie making in my community home and I just ignore that for a little really really long time. I wanted to be there and must isolate left it back just outside Connie backyard and so when you got here, how did you find the profoundest day in my office my parents there business is right above our office and self secure ministry) LSC supply and I did and so there you go, and somebody's listing right now their thinking and on, on the fence on this.

I don't know what an hour maybe they thought her husband would be on board. What would be some suggestions that you might have said, I think the thing that I have a notation that I hear the most is found love with this child and I'm not going be able to let them go back home.

I'm just gonna let him so much and am and that's what we need. We need parents that are going to be totally devastated when italic is back home because they love them so much and I love them so well and I continue to pray for them for the rest of their lives and and how I've never heard that answer but that's so true.

Yeah.

And I think one of our foster parent. If you never love anything that you Liz gonna never let anything at all. You can lose anything or anyone at any moment silent does it take for somebody says okay this is my might. How long would it take to go from the start restart.

The classes were actually having so our class is a two-month process and we can actually start the homestudy silly Jeff to command interview you asked me personal questions through your closets all that stuff and we can actually start that process while you're in the class process and so it can take anywhere you can become licensed within two months and then your licensure, your classes are good for an entire year. So if you need help felt called to do it, but felt like he needed to pump the brakes a little bit. You can't kindness take your time going to the process a little bit slower than I could take up to a year, but that really depends on the families and what they prefer, the need is huge. We get about 15 referrals a week and we can make it out to placements and we can't place kids in our program.

I haven't been trained families. We know now that they love the Lord, we pray that as children we have to deny into our program are going into homes that are able to speak truth into their lives. We can't sit so one of the things that shocked me when I went through that. Is it like 90% or something of those children that are in that system have gone through a severe trauma and so these are when you when you introduce these children into your family. That's not like oh boy, you know, there they are already really hurting and they really need help yeah because of that lack of foster parents, and in the state really children are left in their homes of origin. I'm past the point where they should be in a lot of cases counties are going in and doing all the work they can to help the family be successful while the child is in the home back when children are eventually plowed their home. They are at their marks on their body.

There is some type of physical evidence that they have been abused and when you've gotten to that point. Obviously something is going very wrong in home and just answer kids that have been through that clearly need a Christian, I mean that type of love that you talk about how to bid that you would be brokenhearted because it's going to take somebody with unconditional love because there can then been some struggles, yeah, absolutely. Kids are so worthy of love and have found that will love them unconditionally and I think that I can only be done through God's laughter.

Christ last, and now I'm I'll be the first to say it's a challenge it's really hard. Am sure that you can speak to the challenges of bringing unfamiliar when she ate when he knows that is actually working out loud, yet not prisons around the problem was a challenge, therefore you're not sure though the children had to adjust them quite a bit longer life. We probably lessons learned in a suit, but we should been so insistent on them accepting so quickly, but they've all become one. Also, with God worked all about absolutely anything. Having biological children in your home is another big concern. Another big fear for a lot of families and him your bad kids. Most the time they're gonna be okay now they they have full vessels they have parents that have loved them and hopefully send in the gospel and they can be hard and be hard for everyone. It's can be a transition back biological children there connect only be better for you.

Raising children for adulthood.

If you truly believe in the word talking about being doers of the word right, love, and the orphans and widows.

You need to do those things you children who you talking about. On Sunday they don't sleep with deduction. It's hard for them to base their life on the rest of the gospel is not an orphan spirit itself seems all about trying to convince you that you don't have a father and is all about trying to get in there and make you feel father wasn't alone in the world and talk about you know some special kids out there that have that kind of attack. But then, I have an attachment you know when they find that love that it's really becomes a lifelong right to talk about lifelong relationship. Or, maybe longer.

That eternity how wonderful the well. I am so grateful for you guys coming from Raleigh to say their foundations as well as the men Summit coming up January 19 to the church, their personal first-person church now stating that symmetry, that's on the Truth Network Masten journey starts here about 12 o'clock person followed by disciple magazine. I wait to hear what we have disciple magazine charts
