You're listening to the network and TruthNetwork.com kingdom pursuits where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary passion together we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into the kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore what fascinating Mother's Day even addition of kingdom pursuits we have for you lost Melissa.

We have just a really interesting group of characters on the today show will start off with Michael Melvin and Michael. Michael well this happen. Sometimes phones happen, but we have 1/3 guest with this Cory Adams now is a true court that I've been wondering this ever since I've known you. Are you really remember the Adams family knows that a couple times rally. I imagine you heard that more than once anytime you Cory Adams actually good friend of mine.

He is with the messenger. The radio show that comes on now at 12 to 1230 on this networking and we hear them regularly, but Cory is one of the God's disciples that just really encourages me. Cory's going to get into her historian here in a little bit but this time last year you are a different person completely completely different person. I would never be here well I got Melissa back, we hope, and will make sure here Melissa you're on kingdom pursuits good morning all, I am so glad to have you, Melissa Rosenberger. She was a physician, like a doctor liked went all those years through medical school and all the stuff that went to it and now she's a novelist. Her book is called in the shadow of the King and I'm excited to hear about this and we actually have one here in the studio to look at and what is so can you tell is a little bit about how that happened.

You went from all those years in medical school, or is there a connection there rating grade and loved it, and then like dream line and mine apparently dead and I would try out. I love God and hand actively going to church and I became a bit valiant, and from then on Friday doing my own thing.

I went and following God thinking him different career choice and searching the filament word came to find my way and really who we are in Christ by not listening to him not making the life that even though I went back. The thing that it been in doing something that would family the thing for me because I wasn't following God calling him a light and God. Thankfully, on he called me back to him as an adult and he did that and I hated getting to know him getting to know about his goodness and trusting him more.

I started remembering all the dream I had a child and wanting to get out on a lot of prayer allotted counsel. My people are made finally take that at the end and leave medicine and become that writer how some courageous you know novelist, not just a writer because were talking major imagination writer to create and from understand there's a whole series, not just you know, in the shadow of the King right it are you doing a series of books and ran. And looking at her like and how she interpret what is going on in there, but her brother.

He and ordinary brother and a lot of attention and never does anything wrong, but talent always overshadowed by having the time between the two and the story is really about her learning who he really she grows up with an she didn't really understand him fascinating just makes my imagination go wild and me… About Jesus's brothers before but I never thought about Jesus sisters as I had two sisters and they were pain so rounding up our group this morning. We not only have Melissa what you could tell this to be a great stories we hear more about in the shadow of the King but we have Michael Melvin with this and welcome, Michael hi Rob, thanks for having me. It's a pleasure to be here and Michael is with a really really cool program called the small donor program, which they developed a new website that allows smaller donors to have a fun new way to an easy and all that kind of stuff so you know Michael tells little bit about how you came across this idea yeah great things I've been fortunate in my life, projects and concepts that it interested me. It also had a component of social good. I try like everybody don't necessarily always succeed, but I try to view life as an adventure with positive progress develop the thousand units of affordable housing over 3000 people in large renewable energy projects enough green electricity for 50,000 homes.

I think we need to good things you have the wind at your back and because profit is infinitely powerful so the picture. You should be a novelist that's that's very kind for small donor.com programs an extension of what I've been doing for years, but there's more to it than that. Unfortunately, Robbie. I lost my older son Darren in a free car accident in a heavy storm at night power failure falling trees and lightning was like a scene from a horror movie. Everybody love Darren.

There were 500 people at his memorial service and he was out trying to help people as he always did, waiting outside a violent storm for emergency responders and also going door-to-door to inform and help his neighbors on a dark stormy night he was hit by a car and tightened to give his life trying to help people. So this project was conceived to honor and continue my son's spirit of helping people and making the world a better place while you not to talk to Michael for a couple weeks that I did not know that aspect of the story. But again, the websites called the small donor program.com. If you go to kingdom pursuits. By the way kingdom pursuits. We've got obviously links to masculine journey radio which were talking to Cory and if you want to. If you're interested. Melissa's book, which I'm extremely interested in. Now I'm hearing is that Jesus's sister this really cool kingdom pursuits.com the course links to the small donor program.com but Robbie Robbie say one thing, it's actually just three words the small donor.com I'm glad you said that so that nobody got confused in the Lincolns right it kingdom pursuits, but I wrote one too many words out this morning. It's a small donor.com so when we come back were obviously to hear a lot more about the small donor program in the novel in the shadow of the King and Corey. We got your story, which is in here is another miraculous transformation right there with the CMS is amazing I'm very very excited and we having got my little which may be, in my opinion, which is always five-mile humor. The funniest riddle I've ever so you know I miss this. It's all coming up with where we and uses it to build the kingdom and we got such poster children for that today we have Melissa Rosenberger wow I'm so excited about hearing about her novel in the shadow of the King spoken about through the eyes of Jesus's sister and Corey Adams with masculine journey radio and Michael Melvin with the small donor.com so without further ado because I know you're anxious to hear. Speaking of small fish.

Michael I got one for your Robbie the smallest pig farmers, even the smallest farms are multilayer and in my small friend always are using vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

I think he has a Neapolitan complex and yeah I got just for that one and for the woman who wore a size 13 finding shoes that fit was no small feat MRI right. My favorite of this bad humor today, which I actually think it's hilarious. A small shrub clinging to the walls of the Grand Canyon. Have you thought about what that might be called a small shrub really do you think about your brain.

Are you a small shrub clinging to the walls of the Grand Canyon that's a Gorge Bush what you think Melissa is at least funny. So you knew at the end of all this netting is not actually ever riddle you can call in and win today on this Mother's Day. In addition, 866-348-7884 is a number to call him if you can tell me which small mantras were talking small that it small man in the Bible was not stumped, but clearly was barking up the right tree he was going out on a limb branching out trying to take root. Finally, I'll tell you he did get spruced up which small man in the Bible. My referring to.

And if you can call in at 866-34-TRUTH 87884 Jasper Delmont Delwin Bill when he their tickets to conceal and ask for a copy of our guest book shadow of the King there you go you actually can be a package deal like it because it's probably not more than one answer, but if you've got another answer we would love to hear but if the probably most people can think of one particular man and he was we 866-34-TRUTH 87884. You get not only the – tickets but in the shadow the game.

I was a good guess because I want the book 866-34-TRUTH 87884 is a number to call. Answer Cory get back to you the master journey you got invited to a boot camp last November absolutely share with our listeners what happened so is pretty much the lowest point in my life now is coming off of the divorce and just really had hit rock bottom and quit my job, which is probably the best things ever happened to me my job and my boss pulled me aside and I really want you to get this boot camp thing to be great for you to pay my way to pay $200 me to go in change my life. I was I was as an atheist does nonbeliever before I went and well it was beautiful think as I remember Cory coming in the first night he sat down at the dinner table with me and I'm like, man, this guy looks upset. I didn't know why I was upset why we upset court clearly knew nobody there like Brian my boss like the only person I knew that was good to be there in about not going the last minute and so I was in this strange place in the middle of Davie County with you and I just didn't want to be there didn't really know what I was therefore but had a semblance of an idea that came up kind of fun I had no idea what I was in for.

I love what your mother asked her to tell us about the conversation with your mother when you're my mom's like I'm so happy that you're going upright for this for so long and I look at.

I don't want to guys like us to make any difference you. I still don't believe in any of this is there's no point right so you leave Cory. There is a unbeliever for minute and move on to sweep. We've got so much to cover today, but we really get back to Cory story a little bit later so moving back to Jesus's sister, Melissa D through the novel. How far does it. I guess that's why you're doing a series you can't carry on with her from the point that Jesus is born for or how old is the difference in age between the girl and Jesus. That's an interesting question about their own thing after a map.

The plaintiff way to and then she laughed and direct second and that well in you know II think it did say in the Gospels that I'm having to check my own understanding is, it did say he had brothers and sisters. I married brother, and then let team confinement. I mentioned family actually go to Capernaum because he lived out of his mind. They went to Capernaum to find out what he was doing and came up and they great moment when they came to getting out. There's a big round and your mother and brothers and I where my mother bear the burden put it in the back family drama and analytically going on and I think a lot of it is of God to live up to what we think to be doing. That's awesome, that's awesome.

I'm excited to hear about it when we have Paula in Greensboro's gonna answer force on this woody character is in the Bible but actually the small man in the Bible who wasn't stumped, probably ranking to persist the morning good morning how are you doing thank you so who you think might be thought about how spruced up he really got onto same.

That's wonderful. You're exactly right. Enjoy those both I I'm kinda jealous that you get that book and get a chance to watch the – all the same time things were called and they got bless and thank you thank you.

We also have Todd in Watertown and Todd. I hope you still with IM good morning. I am so excited to hear you may have another version of this but dumb course you may not.

So I'm just I'm anxious to hear what your answer is I was lucky as all the way, I think so too did you think of any other ponds that I left on the table. It wouldn't be a bad thing repeated grown it all might go so yeah I need more okay will here I will say it one more time which small man in the Bible was not stumped but was clearly barking up the right tree going out on a limb branching out trying to take root and finally he did get spruced up so the job you to so Michael we have a got to you yet. In this segment. It's good to have you back so what you discovered and I think is so true.

Is it that a lot of people are small donors but yet it's it's really important that you have a chance to give to admit exactly exactly Robbie are our goal is really to enable regular everyday people thousand dollars to give to charity to be able to do a lot with a small donation until now. There really hasn't been a donation platform that meets the needs of small donors. He wanted to donate $25 yet to find charity log on your website, registered get passwords and remembered every time you login there are not user-friendly and it's very complicated and you can't give to more than one charity at a time and the small donor.com does away with all these hassles and had some fun new elements really excited about the fact that it really is a new and better way to donate let's let's let's people get a lot more out of their donation and they previously could. One other thing I'd like to say and I also like to thank you for your help, Robbie, is that in addition to focusing on helping small donors. We also have a focus on helping small charities. The Red Cross of the heart Association and their great organizations and they do great work they already have multimillion dollar marketing. We also want help connect small donors to small worthy charities that need exposure and tone of the big marketing budget. I'd like your listeners to know that I asked you to recommend three Christian charities and your suggestions totally captured the essence of the kind charities trying to help your argument.

Did I had to send an onion Michael. We got to go another break and talk about those charities we got more on in the shadow of the King. We got more from Cory. We got nearly the best part of this story is so stay tuned. So much more context.

Your passion and uses it to build the kingdom today were so blessed that with Cory Adams of Basque country radio. One of the charities that's on small donor.com that Michael talked about as well as low missionary homes in the Jesus labor love which is part of Christian cargo show. You may know they're all there on what Michael described in that's reason why we have Cory on with us today and then we have Melissa Rosenberger in her novel sounds absolutely fascinating in the shadow of the King. If you go to king number suits.com there you see the link to the small donor.com and as well as (journey of course their boot camps and all that kind of stuff and Melissa's books) of the little bit about her story and you can order the book right there picking up receipts.com so getting back to our hero Cory as he was right. It was at the boot camp he thought it was stupid absolutely.

And so you sit down at the stupid thing is gone it's laughing and smiling at me and will email only Rob so well is that the boot camp.

Yeah.

So with this boot camp there, nonbeliever, don't want to be there but you with the boot camps do you think is so unique and really is what I needed is it is not so much not going there to preach to it guys that you can relate to people who are going to the same struggles after going through every single day who feel the same feeling that you're feeling this just explaining them and explaining how to take those problems and those issues that you do with your whole life to God and really peel back the layers of of yourself as a man and how to deal with some of the issues that are troubling you and keeping you from God and some of things you know I blamed on God dealing with those issues and and really finding your truth telling listeners little bit.

I mean your childhood was a little bit disconcerting ending the right I was 13 years old and I found out that the dad that I had known my entire life as my dad really wasn't my dad biologically and that you have never met my biological father nearly split when he phenomenons pregnant and I just internalize that as a 13-year-old. You know when you're 13 years old when you hear that you you. Your brain can't really process it to know the what may have been going on.

It just my brain processed well. He didn't want me and then it turned around onto the dad that had been raising my life as well. He probably does love me as much as he was my brother because I'm not really his. And so my whole life is always been. I'm not good enough for anything.

People jobs school just it just and sit me down these wrong, passive, always seeking people's constant approval, but in the wrong ways and even the relationship with your brother was right critical relationship for new but difficult absolutely and know with him with my brother. It's well if you know if he if he thinks that if he finds out that not really know his true blue like full brother only half-brothers and you he won't let me as much as you it. What if we would be as close to be worse. I mean it really just you know the enemy weaved his his spell on all my entire life with in relationships and you really got my train of thinking into this just works sensitive never being good enough for anybody or anything until I came to the boot camp and you know my whole life. I look to God as something like this young mean old man up in the sky doesn't want you have any findings just be you know just do this and do that don't do this don't do that and it wasn't so. I got to the boot camp and then shortly after the big cat that I really realized you know God is just love and I finally felt that since of love that I've been craving my whole life I finally felt good enough and you since I get chills thinking about it you know going back to those days. And when when that feelings are struck when your God first spoke to me and told me I was good enough and that his son and them I'm love at just it is amazing it was and I actually witnessed you know they were prayers that were spoken over Cory that seem to come from nowhere that were spoke right to his issues that were done by Darren and other people at the boot camp and right. It was so inspiring because for those of us.

They are weak. Cory wanted to be baptized in the lake in the mud out of their hands on. Now we gotta do it authentically guide you in the lake is like 40° outside and it is a notice that video but you know if anybody doesn't know the mass conjuring is that's what it's all about. And since that first boot camp.

She's been I just been passionate about, you know, trying to reach people who are like me you have that don't necessarily need you note to be preached to to to be a believer, I know that there's so many people out there like me that just that want to be saved and that want to come to God but you did they just get in the wrong ways to get preached to them the wrong ways to get another family pushing them in the wrong ways. You know not everybody is like that and some people like me and and and they want the message but they just don't know how to receive it and they don't how to hear it and they can't relate to people and so that's what my passion is with the messenger and is reaching people out there who may be the oddballs who you have people would church people not not one around but and you know I'll never ever forget you know we had this experience in Cory was just Sam well I just want to lose the settling of this was there at the boot camp and so he came back to the radio show. A week later and he was like okay what translation the Bible to get Robbie what was questions. Worse, he became a disciple just immediately and it was so obvious in fruit of what God was doing in his life, and I know Melissa is you listening to that your thinking wow I hope my book and and we pray that your book will have that kind impact on somebody who really doesn't know about Jesus but picks up the story just because of your fabulous you know imagination thinking when I tried to leave but we can chat and get caught up and I think tradition and religion believed. Who cannot go back and letting anyone to claim an iPad and make it about a plot we can take the pain and I live in a way that early can find, and story in the book and how the main character Hannah guilt but not things done around and take on hand really did try that guide that he.he went well, just my imagination.

Melissa just goes wild. It really does because I think about that moment where Jesus is for sister right just where Jesus's sister realizes my brother is God know everything about hearing the word but not only that he was God but that he loves me as a brother. I mean like one of us needing thought being a Jesus's sister in the field of love of Jesus, but also to feel the love of the super brother that I mean obviously man just wanted brilliant concept for a novel. I just blown away and Michael SIII was right where Melissa was thinking about it. The loss of your son how God is giving you stuff like the small donor.com in order to find ways to bring good out of bad just exactly right. You know with your cooperation.

God can create that I love what Cory Torres or about I really I don't know going out, you know, we were not going forget that we still have one more segment but now we've got a lot more than we have something to tell were loaded for bear today on this Mother's Day even edition hear how God takes passion and uses it to build the kingdom.

As you can tell were poster children for that is always God provides wonderful gifts for us here on kingdom pursuits again. Today's Michael Melvin the small donor.com Melissa Rosenberger her novel in the shadow of the King in Cory Adams messenger and the radio course all available kingdom pursuits.com now I should tell you that at the end of the segment, which is only a six minute segments a little bit shorter. I have a special Mother's Day treat for me, which is my mother who passed away in 2016 and she told the story on the air. One time of how my bacon was saved when I was in the womb and then I recorded encouraging prayer which comes off on right after kingdom pursuits and when James Banks told the story I went all my goodness, my mom had such a what a coincidence.

What a coincidence on a share that story very end of the segment, which gives us only about four minutes so I'm in a jump in with Michael and say Michael, what'd you want to make sure that we got said today about the small donor.com that we have not set. Thank you Robbie, this is actually almost more about life and what you were saying about how God directs you in Cory and Melissa, inspiring stories know one of the questions I think a lot of people have that I would have to do is someone who thinks about all this is like why do bad things happen to good people and I never liked that question because to me it's like a negative inference about God like God owes you something he didn't. I think that's terrible but you know you could say a codicil, compassionate. How could you let my older son, who was the embodiment of goodness be killed in a freak asked Wally was helping people have to admit that at first.

In addition to the grieving really was so disappointed.

Quote God let this happen, and it scared me the most was that my faith was temporarily diminished when you have and don't have it, you feel so totally alone, but somehow the loss of my son. Good things coming from bad things made me realize that God's not here to make everybody's life perfect if that was the case this place would be called heaven not an etc. like to be perfect left wait'll we get to heaven and God here to help you through tough times, comfort you, inspire you, maybe sometimes throwing a miracle or two, so I think this is teaching us in sitting us for heaven, so to speak, and Melissa in the bath. The minute that we got left a frantic tone of this soundbite. What would you like to tell folks about your book that we didn't get set today greatly during anything, people wearing and I think about adding new and even had that dream in their heart that have been carried out and how to how to accomplish that dream team well and you know I would point out this is a whole series, and I'm very excited about your next book and would love to have you back after you do that to see where were going here because your imagination as I can see why God put on your heart to be a writer. Wow, what a gift to the body of Christ to have such wonderful thinking and in Cory we have Boot Camp coming up November 7 through the 10th, encourage some moms out there hothouse they pray for the kids.

You pray for you kid you to to givenness the strength to take that step out you maybe do something uncomfortable with this in their mid to pay for their big Speaking of moms I got to play the soundbite from my mom, the set up. Encouraging prayer that's coming so you know my mom's in heaven looking down smiling on us right now and we got my mom on the line sushi.

I know she's got a mountain road store we got here mom. You're on the Christian cargo ship and over now. If I ever had, Idaho went back relative to church one night your dad.

When I had to be the choir director at church now that after he last. The snow was melting it was like an April and it was black and when I got though that was back with no background. I saw lights at the bottom so what are you doing if a police like you put on the brakes. I completely rotated the car and all 40 q. week for time down that road was pregnant when I was deftly a writer I would go and I could look down and see that the bottom of the mountain and then I would swell back and get back on the road and turn around again my hands off the wheel and I said God I got to baby, and I'm carrying line here, thinking back at the map and it will grant a patrolman came over to me maybe… A policeman said roll down the window and I did get out of here.

Dad said he saw me come in the back door.

The was white as a ghost, and he said I wonder how bad it up. I wasn't hurt in the car with it hurt and I didn't hurt anybody profusely. That night it right now I am to mom because I'm think this show would be on the
