This is the Truth Network kingdom versus where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary passion together we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore. You know sometimes just see how God takes passion and uses it to build the kingdom and they just build the studio when it well. We're good to see that today on pursuits as I have with me. Actually a friend and some new friends we have Matt Willis and his family. Allison and Ethan who are representing perspectives on the world Christian movement and all that's going on because we have a gigantic class this coming up Monday nights in January that really could change forever your perspective on life. Maybe you've heard Jesus junkets it's been on the air for couple weeks assess to do with that. So all that stuff.

By the way is that King pursuits.com a welcome mat rethinking glad to be with you today and while perspectives changed your life just a little bit didn't yeah it really didn't for my wife. You know she's the one who really encouraged me to take the perspective's course, I love to hear you know her perspective as well you is how she got involved in the class. Originally now when my friends and college. I advised that I take this class with her and I really didn't know what I was getting into bad local church was offering the class and we went once a week and we heard a different speaker every week and throughout the week we get readings on our own and this class totally changed my life.

I grew up in church and had been you know one of those in church twice a week since I was a newborn and on never really understood God's heart for all peoples to come into relationship with him so the Lord use this course to you and open my eyes to who he wise, and I realized that on, you know, I thought I knew God, but it was as if I was staring at his toenail and thought I knew all of him and then I took this class and I got to see the wholeness of who he is and how his heart beats for all peoples and I can't tell you enough on how life-changing it was for me.

So walls and we have the youngest version of the Willis family that would be Ethan. So Ethan you got a chance to hear your dad. Yeah. How fun is that the perspective scores did you ever get a chance to go. I know that you guys have been in China and Mongolia and also if you did you go on any of those adventures. I am not on those. But he did live in South Asia with us that he was born in Asia, all while so he seen the world so to speak at such a young age so speaking of world spelling and not really even I know this, but people climbed the world highest mountain question is Everest. However about this, even when I'm lying on the floor. I feel like the whole world is against me right is all I like cutter. His world revolves on its axis.

But you love this woman talkative politician was the world's world both word concentrating on the very talkative politician was a world first pastor side airbag okay no not even get the one we get here, some convoys all right. So a good meteor shower. By the way could really rock your world really can't so if you don't know what in the cop apocalypse means if you don't know what an apocalyptic means. This is simply not the end of the world, but which books of the Bible, describe it, so that's actually our little today if you could tell us which books in the Bible describe the apocalypse and tell you, there may be more than one 866-34-TRUTH 87884's number call and when and if they do keep to allow duplicate Wake Forest.

All you have to do is tell us you know which books in the Bible describe the apocalypse is not in the world if you don't know the answer to that but still stomach 866-348-7884 and I gotta tell you Matt that you know is I've been working on Jesus junkets, and we've got an episode of Jesus junkets coming up right after your interview today.

So at 1130. You can hear the next episode, which happens to be.

There is a sheep in my bathtub right and oh my goodness this is the third so these books that I'm reading are the books that people read when they do the perspective that's right. And sometimes the hearing the speakers of Brian Hogan whose episode is airing later today I he's been one of the perspectives here in the Winston-Salem course and so you not just tell you that when you read the stories you can see time and time again how God shows up in what seems like an impossible situation and you obviously there reaching people and other world on the parts of the world, but God's coming after the heart of the missionary. Maybe even more so than is coming after the heart of the people that are on mission with right now and one of the things that we tried to help people understand is that perspectives is not just a missions class. It is a world Christian class. It is a discipleship class because God is not calling everyone to be a cross-cultural or international missionary, but he is calling every Christian to be on mission with him all yeah definitely.

And I when I took the class I recruited both of my parents to take the class and my brother was also college age at the time and it was so neat that we all got to grab a hold the heart of God. At the same time and on all fell in love with his mission and I'm really really thankful that he called us all to that. My mom ended up serving for four years as a university professor in China so you know see she did that and yeah and it was your husband went, and then all of a sudden you got it tells that story well. So there's an immediate application for Allison when she took the perspectives class even though she had a fear of flying from a bad experience felt led to go on a mission trip to China after she took the perspective scores. I am not taking the perspective scores yet, but I signed up on the same mission trip to go to China and so that's how we got to know each other so very thankful for the perspective scores and there is nothing short-term about that mission trip. You know it's been lasting a lifetime.

And so, where did this. Where did you guys fly out of that time on what we were in North China among the Mongolian, no not mean I know you went to north China. But where did you originate where you from the same place were both from Oklahoma. We went to different universities and so we only got to know each other in preparation for the trip and so there was a weekend where were learning how to teach English as a second language, and their bunch people in the room and not all them are going to China but I sat across the table from Allison and I immediately thought. I hope she's going to China. I could imagine and it worked out for you. Yeah, that's right. So how long after you. Just out of curiosity, since I long after you got back from trying to jog two years. Yeah, but we knew that we would be married soon after we got to know each other because the first time we talked about a serious relationship that God might be doing something we both found out that God had use the same verse. Philippians 4 a in the months preceding that about who we would marry. So once we realize God told you that same verse about you to marry is just great confirmation that that was the Lord's will for us. That is a connection, and so very cool, but I would mention if you go to kingdom pursuits.com. You'll notice today that we have perspectives listed there and you get an amazing discount if you use the Jesus junkets link that we've posted there so all you do. We got Orlando is in High Point Orlando.

Your kingdom pursuits. Good morning what you got force which book will little apartment by John. Not that there was to the name of the book of Revelation.

There you go. You're a winner right answer.

Orlando is also a book of Daniel, which is my favor and an old school. Talk about your exactly right.

And there's more for something else. If you want to call him were going to do that.

Orlando, God bless appreciate you calling and women.

Lord bless you and thank you but in the gospel love the radio off. Thank you appreciated keep listen.

Thanks, stemming but meanwhile Matt, we've got stuff coming up. We have talked about how we do. I know a lot of people are thinking about Thanksgiving and I would just like to let some people know of what's happening the weekend right after Thanksgiving. At least here in Winston-Salem where we live. I serve is that missions pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and we have some exciting events coming up because we have one of the premier mission leaders in the world he was going to fly in from Colorado just for that weekend and so we got several events coming up. That's November 30 and then December 1 as well right and then Ethan's got a big workforce. Yeah. So there several events that I would mention you can also go to Calvary now.com/missions hear the details.

For example, the main session that I think people would be interested in coming to his right after church I he's going to do a two hour workshop on how their more Muslims coming to faith in Christ than ever in history, and he's written a book on it. David Garrison has a wind in the house of Islam sets from 12 to 2 at our West campus and so registration is required for the luncheon child care.

Ethan's got one of the events to talk about as well that David will be doing on Sunday night. I have waited for the help of foundation God has brought me Sandy's and unreached people groups around the world nation from each God is using missionaries that nation can't global gates that reaches to Dr. David Garrison will speak global gates, executive director wow future broadcast that's awesome you can. I'm sorry that you want to say make quick math that's that's a huge event. It is one of the things David Garrison's best known for is a book that he wrote in 2004 called church planting movements, where he looked out all around the world. What is God doing to bring not just hundreds of people, but thousands to thousands, hundreds of thousands of people throughout churches being planted multiplication and so that's what is going to preach on in the morning that Calvary, but then the mission workshop and then what Ethan shared in the evening because what he's doing now is being the leader of the mission organization trying to reach the least reached here in America to Allison if you meant David. Personally, I deftly heard him speak and I were looking forward to actually having to mentor how many here in a couple weeks now so when you hear them speak. What would you be telling people would be exciting that the public while he's just an expert on the movement of Muslims to Christ. He is an integral part of that with his research, and with his on with his life. He's just surrendered himself and God has used him and in magnificent ways. Just as he's using you know any of us who are willing to just lay down our own life and take up his you know he he works miracles through glass and at such a privilege to get to be participants in his mission down some of the stories that are in that book you could even hear a preview the day before he speaks.

So on November 30 the episode for Jesus junkets will have some stories from the wind in the house of Islam just some amazing stories so I get to hear about the wind like I haven't read that story yet, but I have read the others in the thing that you can't help but like all my goodness, summing with, you know, if you listen to Jesus junkets we had in of the first one with Don Richardson. You know in New Guinea in and peace child on my goodness.

I mean, what a story and then God smuggler today.

There's a sheep in my bathtub got tragic side to it, but it's bittersweet because God the some amazing things through some stuff that you like mad about you know what he do that family you know that got a chance to experience Mongolia and you did as well, yeah.

It's amazing what the Lord is doing usually the best things in life are not easy. You know, require sacrifice and Jesus talked often about the sacrifice it takes to be a follower of Christ and others such joy and beauty, and privilege in whatever we do, because any sacrifice we ever make. He's worthy of it. Now you can you can never out to have him I can. I can promise you that ties all those years that we spent living in NDI you know on as much as we you know poured out.

God blessed us back over and about that every single day and you know I we there's there's no way we could have served him on in a greater extent than he blessed us through the people they are through the intimacy that we had with him when all the comforts of life were taken away, and all we had with him and there was just an incredible joy that that nothing, nothing beats that you were in Mongolia as well yeah well we were there for about a month and then and that then we served overseas for about seven years the time was what time of year were you in Mongolia this summer and that's good world people they you know the story of Jesus on the move of the sheep in my bathtub all my goodness, I mean, 15, 20, 30° below zero winds blowing whipping down the mountains. I mean I can't even imagine yeah that story is just incredible. I remember reading that back and I can put it down. Yeah.

And while we have it on the radio. You know after this interview. People can also subscribe to the podcast on iTunes as well and so get to listen to any time or binge listen… That's the idea behind Jesus Jenkins and and spread the word that you know here, these missionary stories there 20 minutes so you don't have to know and hopefully the wet your appetite wet your appetite for the whole book in each of these have the book that that that obviously were using to to give us the story so the first one was peace child and then God smuggler in today's his social sheep in my bathtub and there's a number of different, sheep in the bathtub so you want to stay tune for that awesome that's your next riddle right. What is the best I should have that I should work on so one of the neat things is that you can read all these books, but then you got the speakers like Brian like yourself is actually served so if you know from your perspective when you took the course. The first time what speaker impacted you Brad Buser I think was one of the most amazing ones he's actually going to be one of the 15 per speak 15 speakers for perspectives in the Winston-Salem class starting up in January. I can refuse in February or March when he speaks.

But he was in California. He served in the top New Guinea area and I remember what he said to me right after the course because at that point we already knew. As I was in my Masters that we wanted to serve internationally as missionaries and he said to me personally. The longer you stay in America, the less likely you will be a missionary. Other things happen you know, family, health, money, education, job, all these different things and I was just surprised at that and thankfully we are able to go on time.

You know with our our plan.

But yeah, that really shook me up. I mean he's a hilarious guy but really deep as well but you Allison which speaker grabbed your heart. Yeah I would say he was my favorite as well. But there are so many that were said that, I mean I had the privilege of hearing Don Richardson in person and you know I'll never forget him and just just that the faith and the courage of these men and women and I love that there is plenty of women who also are speaking there's people who are young. There's people here all there's people who are in the middle on this is really a class for all ages and all denominations and all believers who are ready to get on board the greatest adventure possible and I'm very thankful for Allison bringing the course to Winston-Salem a couple of years ago and so over hundred 80,000 people have taken the perspectives course through the years through many different states and countries. But whenever we moved here in 2016. That was one of the first things we talked about. He said we've got to make the prospectus course available to all the churches here in the Triad because it just wasn't happening. So it is happening now and again you go to kingdom pursuits. You can click on the link that one of the things I things really need about the sheep in my bathtub story is what they do with house churches there in Mongolia and you see the way God uses these different structures and apparently he learned in the perspectives course that's right because he was a student and then instructor and then went out and did internationally. Then came back as well. I just wanted things. That's a common point with David Garrison as well.

When he talks about church planting movements.

A lot of them come through house churches and so there's all types of churches for all types of people. Yes, you are blessed to get to hear that it's just hang on. Right after the break. You'll hear the next episode, Jesus junkets as a sheep in my bathtub that we want to tell you if you go to kingdom pursuits. Click on the link where you can get a discount to see the perspectives course coming in January and again we went to post the information on the other events in the coming those up there as well against it one more time at work with the events Calvary now.com/missions. Thank you for listening to kingdom pursuits now stay tune for the sheep in my path
