This is the Truth Network kingdom versus where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary fashion. Together, we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore alright alright alright good morning I can tell by my voice this is not Robbie good morning everybody and welcome to kingdom pursuits my name. In fact, is Danny Trogdon.

Normally I'm on the other side of the mic in the production room, but today I have the honor of hosting Rob is out of town so I sure appreciate that we think we have a very interesting show for you today. We have a couple of our guests that will be on the phone with us today. Our first guest is going to be Bethany Marshall. She is the author of pickles and prayer. It's illustrated by Sarah Vogel and I can't say pickles.

I can only say purples so sparkles and prayer, which I think it makes a great combination. Because I love me some particles and love to pray the book actually I think is helps to teach children the value and the power of prayer and that's an important thing because I think if you get a child to start praying in early learning the prayer works.

Prayer has value in prayer has power bill never stray from it.

I believe that and we also will have Tyler Ellis and Tyler did a Ted talk recently but was originally entitled Jesus is not a role model books that I think they changed the title of that and I can see it right off my head, but I know Tyler will share that with us but hey it was a religious Ted talk, which is kind of a rare thing and I sometimes can talk about that and I got some questions for him as well but before we get started, we have a tradition here of doing some riddles and that's what Robbie calls and riddles: times as a company. Alrighty then and so let me go over couple. I think these are, Hewitt. So the first one is what is right at him and the answer is Crown him with many crowns count him with dementia points if you came out with holy, holy, holy, salesman's favorite passage anyone the great commission that the great commission that actually deserves crickets is a known I like this one here. What kind of man was Boaz before he married what kind of man was Boaz before he married. He was ruthless, ruthless, less many of you didn't know that they played baseball in the Bible.

So where was the first baseball game in the Bible it was in the big inning the beginning, big inning. Okay, I'm just amusing myself at this point, but that's okay Eve Eve stole first Adam stole second cane struck out able and the Giants and the Angels were rained out and about that little after over there now.

Okay why did the hawk sit on the church's steeple because it was a bird of prey bird I would say which servant of God was the worst lawbreaker in the Bible which servant of God was the worst lawbreaker was Moses. He broke all 10 commandments.

It wants.

I don't think I deserve that. Okay.

Got two more so you have to sit through it was the greatest can you know what you know people have asked have asked me I've asked many times does God have a sense of humor think he does because he invented senses of humor. Right was the greatest comedian in the Bible it had to be Sampson because he brought the house down brought the house down. Okay. All right. Okay, here is the actual riddle that you can call in and when and if you if you get it right even when two tickets to the Wake Forest game this Tuesday, February 11 this Tuesday will explain North Carolina so this can be a really good game to go to sort out two tickets for the right answer. So here's the question who's the patron saint of poverty, who's the patron saint of poverty so call in to get the answer. If you have the answer crawling at city. It's 86634 truth 866-34-TRUTH truth.

The others 866-34-TRUTH I will read it again who's the patron saint of poverty, so if you have the answer.

Give us a call will get you those tickets out to you and be fun. Okay well that's that's all that I enjoyed that.

So look, let's go to. We've got to adjust Bethany Marshall. She is the author like a set of pickles and prayer. I'll say it right this so yeah we got Bethany Marshall on the line, author of pickles and prayer, illustrated by servant Vogel hey Bethany how are you I'm great. I'm sure appreciate you being a guest today. Well I what I was really eager to talk to you about this because first of all let me some particles. People: particles present a southern thing pickles in prayer. So tell Bethany tell us a little bit about yourself, and then about your book well out) Dr.Amber area and I worked full-time in the health field term (not a little every year Miguel. I wrote it years ago and affect the nature and had it coming.

I'm excited about and I'm really thrilled yet here and in the hand that children yeah I was reading a little bit about what it has in its think it's helping to teach children the value and power of prayer right now.

All are powerful and well to this right up to Bethany and let want talk about this and get your thoughts on it and also taking phone calls with some possible questions for you to stick around. That's 866-34-TRUTH 87884 and you can also answer the riddle which was quickly who's the patron saint of poverty. Call up if you have an answer as well and were talking with Bethany Marshall on the line. Right now she's calling from me. Now she's in Pennsylvania she's the author of pickles and prayer. Bethany welcome back to the show so just pick up where you left off. You were talking about a little bit about yourself and about the booking and some things that are important when dealing with children not our children are grown.

I have grandchildren, though, and I've had my my daughters have asked me a couple times advice on how to know what's the best way to approach a child you know is 7678-year-old child and talk to them about Jesus and talk to him about prayer and so I'd love to pick your brain about that a little bit and your life are getting down and writing down your class.

I am praying for each goal line in my dock at talk about how they, like when you're having your prayer bike down and give it to God and allow God in prayer and thought how the cucumber plant grouted and how our prayer waiting and watching got going prayer that really had the imagery and authored an asset at prayer. Prayer waiting. Well, sure you find it sometimes difficult to help children understand that that prayer is answered in God's timing and because even adults have into that that that expect to pray today and have an answer before they go to bed right right Bible reference that wow that child can learn with children and and without any chatter that children have great capacity. You allow there to growl and to truly trust the Lord and not care at all. Have I watch them Dragon a lot be able affect you and that sometimes children cry and I will prompt an adult to prayer their parents prayer Karen Eubanks parallel opportunity to shell and model that I think that Bible that it perfectly now. I think like a child or children wearing you. You know Jim had very children much quicker to trust as well because you want to become an adult; learn to trust much of anything in this world, but children are trusting so seems like a great opportunity to teach them about trust in God and trust God's timing and answers to prayer and sometimes no one prayers don't seem to be answered because you don't know you're not getting what you want and so it seems like it would be even easier to teach a child about prayer and about trust me, it also says that there is a pickle recipe in here and I love me some pickles, but I'm growing up, I love and I got card and now like the American tire and everything.

I love pickles, Bethany.

We got to a couple callers that one answer the little mama leave you online so that you can chime into so when you go to the mill in North Carolina. Chamillionaire hey I well that's a good guess that's not the answer I'm looking for. I think I well answers, cute and funny but I think but no, that's that's a that's a mess.

But I tell you what will will still getting tickets, but will send you out a book anyway that you will do that for you. Thanks for calling in.

Thanks okay when I go to James and Carrie James on their alone. Sorry hey James on there now. You're only there I was teasing you for the answer to that is the patron saint of poverty again. It was a good guess but not correct, not correct.

Well I can tell you still did call Donald if I don't get a right answer and I'll tell everybody what it is but one way to see if I get an answer so I get these tickets given away, but look I'm still going to send you out a book that will be okay okay alright well look James, I will put you on hold and Jasper will get some information from you will get a book out to you. Okay thanks man.

Okay Bethany Stiller were trying to get an answer to this riddle probably won't get one.

I would never come up with it, but it's it's kind of funny so I got into did you like they did you like the other ponds I read about last really funny so as far as helping children go into detail about other areas of faith know with children and teaching them just how to walk through their life and how to focus on God when when they're confused or upset or other other things like that door I read read page I have included a pickle where the children there. Can Rita and Craig gather at the end of the story okay. It is time to air watching the plant, growling, watching (wired and concluded that the just pickle in the jar and then, but the prayer the end. I love plants and plant and I love life and I live in an area where I don't get the lot I have trees on the house under a lot of the excellence of the only two things that I can grow our tomatoes and cucumbers and but I like to give plants as gifts to you as a gift of life. But you know nothing of him from help my children, my grandchildren learned how how fun it can be to start the process of like you said like putting a seed in the ground watering watching you grow and then equate equating that to how God interacts and in our lives.

Yeah sure is grandchildren so receptive especially to their Papa's which, pump up and listen. Grandkids will listen to their Papa's quicker than it was until her daddies and mommies. A lot of times yet right well that's awesome Bethany appointment and get this book because I like to sit down and read this with my grandchildren yelled just showing all the things that are valuable in the whole process. It's it's a picture that you painted their with you will look Bethany I sure appreciate you being alone with us today will sure let freedom callback another time or or what is heavy on the show another time. I sure will. Thanks, Bethany, okay, but I alright well it's right up to our second break. So take a break and come back talking to Tyler Ellis about his Ted talk to be fascinating to stick around. Everyone listening to kingdom proceeds men Robbie today and you can join the conversation by calling 86634 truth 866-348-7884 so worried are talking now with Tyler Ellis Potter recently did a talk on religion is fascinating and also I happen to know that doesn't happen very often.
