You know what we talked about tonight. You know what we are going to talk about tonight. It's a four hour show one hours already in the books I get started 10 PM Eastern time.

7 PM Pacific.

We opened up the show last hour by talking about Kobe Bryant. He would've been 44 years old today. August 23 and just talked about his legacy and what he was able to leave behind and and it's not just about basketball.

I think ultimately he left behind. Just a thought process for anyone to pretty much follow if if you want to find success if you want to look for success if you want to look towards achieving excellence in whatever the hell you do that, something that Kobe left behind you has a fancy phrase a catchphrase. The mambo mentality but basically it was get yo ass up and work as something that that nobody can can Conoco local beat you at if you have a passion for something. Get up and get it's really that simple. So much loved his family here.

Kobe Bryant would've been 44. That's how we opened up the show.

We talked about Nick Sabin, Nick Sabin is currently 70 years old. He got a new contract that will take him to age 78's new deal is like Kirby smart.

Just gotta $11.2 million deal well Nick Sabin is now getting $500,000 more than him. 11.7 per year will take him to the year 2030. Can't wait to see a 78-year-old Nick Sabin on the sidelines yelling at every body. I guess you'll be looking like Mr. Burns from the Simpson's but will get there. And of course as we continue on with the show. I do want to get into Russell Wilson know one of our callers mentioned in last night said Russell Wilson is the most disrespected quarterback currently in the NFL had to go. Is he really so I want to talk about Russell.

I want to get into the AFC West Allen judge continues to abuse of baseballs for the New York Yankees. He might actually be getting ready to set some records will get into judge Wilson, but this was the big story to come down the pipe today and it was just like all well what a shocker. This is, it's the fact that Kevin Durrant will be back with the Brooklyn Nets. It's the fact that after two months, almost 2 months ago in June right before the draft. Kevin Durrant said I want out and here we have it. August 23, the Brooklyn Nets put out a statement and it's not like the Brooklyn Nets put out a statement Sean marks put out a statement on behalf of the organization, listen to this very carefully. Steve Nash and I together with Joe Cy and Carlos are the owners of the Brooklyn Nets. We met with Kevin Durrant and Rich Kleinman in Los Angeles yesterday. We have agreed to move forward with our partnership, we are focusing on basketball with one collective goal in mind.

Build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn. This statement is from the general manager. This statement is from the God that that was on the other end of an ultimatum from Kevin Durrant a few weeks ago were Kevin admit Kevin Durrant met with Joe Cy am basically said hey I will return to Brooklyn if Sean marks and Steve Nasser gone wanted everybody to just kiss and make up that that sure as hell didn't happen. What happened is Kevin Durrant got punk dear. There was no way in hell that they were going to be able to get a proper return from Kevin Durrant, who by the way they have signed a contract last season. That's a four-year deal more than $200 million.

What the hell that I got to get return. I mean the latest rumor came out yesterday that oh my God, the Memphis grizzlies a. They have five first round picks a couple weeks ago was the Boston Celtics and they going to give up and give up Jim Brown and then it was the Golden State Warriors at the at the onset, and then it was the Miami Heat and then it was the Phoenix Suns but the reality is Minnesota screw this up. Minnesota just really change the entire game. Rudy go bear. Let's keep this in mind, the Minnesota Timberwolves in order to bring on Rudy go bear they gave up for first round picks they gave up Malika Beasley and Patrick Beverly and and to three other legitimate role players for Rudy go bear it a screw this situation up every body. They reset the market.

Dammit, Donovan Mitchell hasn't been traded from the Utah Jazz. The New York Knicks yet because of this regal bigotry is a workout for Minnesota. Probably not.

And so if I have to think about Rudy go bear in his value or worth versus Kevin Durrant come on now. Okay, how many defensive player of the year awards regal bear has. There is no comparison to Kevin Durant zero install Durrant is going to be sticking around in Brooklyn. Kari Irving is going to be sticking around in Brooklyn, Ben Simmons, oh my God, does Ben Simmons play basketball. I guess he does. Ben Simmons is going to be sticking around in Brooklyn so we might actually get a three-headed monster. We might actually get super team. Can we call it that I know gets a little little sketchy when you think about Ben Simmons but this is still a team. Kari Irving Kevin Durrant. Gotta think about Nick Claxton. He is going to continue to get better step Curry is there.

Joe Harris is one of the best shooters in the NBA, and he's coming off of an entire year of rehab and surgery. You would think he'd come back healthy. They just added Royce O'Neill TJ Warren coming off of his own injury. We saw what he did in the bubble. Is he going to replicate that hell no, but he's not a scrub. They got bodies.

The Brooklyn that's going to be dangerous. But here's the thing Kevin Durrant if he got punk dear Joe Cy basically said I moving you in that Kevin Durrant had no recourse and people already don't like Kevin Durrant.

People really look at Kevin Durrant as a whiny crybaby EEs. All of the above any he doesn't care. He was on Twitter today telling everybody as much. Even though he goes on Twitter to tell people that, yeah, I don't care Patrick Beverly decided to to share some tweets today about Kevin Durrant basically saying will thank God.

The saga is finally over a Kevin Durrant situation because of the lack of movement and players you Kevin to rent because people do their jobs, and Kevin Durrant. Of course he responded to Patrick Beverly and he said Blaine Kd, what else is new. This is what Kevin Durrant does now is this going to affect Kevin Durrant's legacy is this going to be a a bench you know a bookmark in his his book. We don't know how much longer you'll play.

I assume Kevin Durrant will play. Maybe it's a late 30's to 40. You'll be around. I don't think is going to disappear off the face of the earth.

People always go to remember him going over to Golden State blood and remember him go to Brooklyn, whether or not he picks up a championship with the Brooklyn Nets is really I believe what will define his legacy as let's keep in mind it can be easy to forget Kevin Durrant is not the first superstar to ask or demand a tree.

He's not the first go around. When he left Oklahoma City thunder. He he went to the warriors.

He was a free agent you think about the second go around. He left Golden State he signed with the Brooklyn Nets. He hasn't forced his way out, particularly anywhere except for a couple months ago and he called his bluff and I'm glad because we don't need a bunch of whiny as NBA players just drawn a bench and moan their way out its it sucks afterwhile.

It ain't cool just go out and play and yeah there's only but a handful of players that can to it but it's it sucks like I believe in doing what you wanted and taken advantage of the situations but don't be a complete jackass about it as much as I love Kevin Durrant is a basketball player have not had a million interactions with him but have appreciated him out in the community and what is done in and in the times I've met him. He's just been very nice to me Bobby what he's done just here in the situation, socks is no better way to put it. You can look at it as a business move in a business play but I'm glad the Brooklyn Nets owner Joe stockholders bluff. Now you gotta go play like get off your damn high horse and just go kid there comes a point in time where you actually have to be considerate of what somebody offered you the Brooklyn Nets gave this guy money and they knew he was going to be out of season, the Brooklyn that's just committed four years, 200+ million dollars to him and now he wants to leave and I sit your ass down and play you how this gets fixed. You know how this becomes just a just a marker in his career. If Kevin Durrant was a championship because as I told you he's not the first person to demand a trade that was a star. One of the most likable superstars that I think the NBA has ever seen is looking a lot you want I can go back to 1992 working a lot. You want was basically done with the rockets.

The rockets were saying our king was being greedy, asking for money every time he you turn you had a king wants more money. The rockets said that Akeem was sitting out he was faking injury. Our king was like I might get me to help on out here, a matter fact do you need a refresher. You might not even know this. This was Marv Albert Marv Albert, the marvelous one back on NBC and listen. The other guy talking Steve Patterson is the general manager at the time of the rockets take a listen to this man will wind you hear negative word about Akeem. It sounds to even listen to that Akeem Lodge one is also a humblest guide to ever meet or talk to unless he's slapping you in the face of the game or punching you in the head at a game or giving you an elbow or dreams shake but besides that Akeem Lodge one absolutely amazing love, the number 34 in Houston goes a long way for a lot of legends certainly does that for Akeem Lodge one and we know what happened after that. Yeah they they want to championships okay and who talks about Akeem and his trade request.

Nobody nobody at all. He's not the only one you know we opened up the show showing love to Kobe Bryant would turn 44 years old today. How many people forget 2007. The luster bring it up with Kobe Bryant was basically like get me the hell up on out here. He just signed a new deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was looking to get shipped out to the Chicago Bulls. He wasn't happy that the Los Angeles Lakers they got reddish shack is a set we paying him his fat and old were going to give you the money but then Kobe felt like they were rebuilding.

He wanted no part of it in a baby bonhomie wanted none of it. Kobe Bryant, you might remember this voice. This is on ESPN New York 2007 Kobe Bryant basically told Stephen a Smith.

I want out of LK. Are you saying now emphatically regardless of what they done you want out of Los Angeles. In order to letter no other alternative. The director determined to rebuild and I wish it would know told me that sign with.

You actually move in a different direction and want to do it without you will know you are you going to try to call you. You wanted to build and well.

Kobe Bryant wasn't happy with who was going to be left on the Chicago Bulls.

If you were to be traded, and ultimately, he did it some Donnie Paula Saul showed up in Kobe Bryant was able to pick up to additional ranks.

Kobe Bryant we know never went anywhere.

Legacy career would've been totally different if you were the left and we've had other players throughout the NBA's history that I guess they were close to leaving those appointments onward to and don't get all my goddess is Tim Duncan going to go to the magic is he going to sign player movement player movement is a part of the game. It really is, and it's never going to change. Nobody talks about Akeem a lot you want in his trade demands Kobe Bryant and his trade. The man it's really brought up unless there's a particular reason like this one, so Kevin Durrant has an opportunity to go on and continue to build his legacy. We know this. Kevin Durrant is one of the most dynamic offense of players at the NBA has ever seen. He's also unfortunately been one of the most temperamental know how is that going to change or just as he gets older you know if he's healthy when she's had some trouble with people out that Achilles drawn to push it for the Golden State Warriors. He's he's come back for the Brooklyn Nets and he's been dinged up and mixed up here and there, and as he gets older. Is he going to be durable.

How does a 7 foot shooting guard how to see age in the NBA.

We don't know help me. I don't think we've seen what I've never seen a seven footer as fluid as Kevin Durrant with the ball. How does his body type. Eight. We have no idea. So it's even softer look at the Brooklyn Nets and say man.

They're the best team in the East. I would be quick to say so why Kari Irving's will play his ass off this year.

Why because he wants more money. He wants a new contract.

This is a contract season. The contract year.

Kari Irving, if you had any thoughts that he wasn't going to show up or he was going to go on a spiritual hike with Alan Rogers, probably not. He's going to try to get paid. Ben Simmons, I think Ben Simmons sees this as a prime opportunity of his back and hold up Ben Simmons will run the court initiate the offense when Kari is on the bench and he'll run the court and play small forward and powerful word not have to shoot the ball and it would not shock me if he did put up a couple of shots just to keep things honest. Must be nice playing with with Kevin Durrant and Kari Irving in the Brooklyn Nets rosters looking pretty deep right now. They're going to be one of the top teams in the East.

If they are healthy and we can say that about anything. Come on, James Harden is working out.

He wants to get paid. He's coming in, and improve shape Jolin being that the end of the playoffs.

He was basically a mommy both hands meeting work got a sabbatical ball he was bawling out but Chris Middleton was a broken man Boston Celtics how they got a bounce back, we just had Tatum announced to the world that year. He played the majority of the playoffs with a fracture in his wrist. Maybe that's why sucked and even then he didn't suck that damn bad. The Brooklyn Nets will be at the top of the Eastern conference is one of their big competitors. Every team boils down to health and so it's tough to go out and say oh this team will be the best we have no idea. But if the Brooklyn Nets, a healthy if they are I say this much.

I would I would take them in the Eastern conference finals and I would be shocked if they went to the NBA finals in Kevin Durrant's legacy.

I think the rest of it hinges on just whether or not he's able to win another championship and if he is, and if he's able to do it in Brooklyn that trade request man. It's just it's just a small chapter. It's not even a chapter just the a couple pages in his book what you think the Brooklyn Nets will do this upcoming season with Kevin Durrant, Kari Irving and Ben Simmons are we talking championship are we talking Eastern conference finals, or are we talking an injury filled disaster cyclicals. On the other side, 855-2124 CBS. It's the JR sport Risha you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio gobbler which you will know you really are. Are you calling now with 855-2124 CBS shows sigh owner of the Brooklyn Nets one Kevin Durrant zero almost 2 months after requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets because of a lack of confidence in the franchise and its direction. Kevin Durrant not being traded anywhere. The Brooklyn Nets released a statement today. Sean marks the general manager released a statement today only about two weeks after Kevin Durrant said I'll stay if you fire Sean Markson and Steve Nash overgrown the same page were going to be together to move forward together and try to win a championship for Brooklyn. So what happened to cover Durrant change his mind as he now all of a sudden had confidence in the Nets, probably not just a handled in choice the Brooklyn Nets were going to get a decent hall for him and and God bless Joe sign the Brooklyn Nets they were going to be pumped here, man. I would love that if they took it all the way to the Y elect Kevin Durrant figure out what he wants to do your the contracts sit at home and don't get paid or just look like a whiny Biot when eyes go play you got pumped.

He tried to push the button.

The eject button and it didn't work in good love, amount, supplier, but I mean damn can always get away. And so what this Brooklyn Nets team.

There's a lot of top teams in the East you know what all the Milwaukee Bucks going to look like, healthy, and this is this is always the name of the game.

The teams at the end war.

Most health is typically there in the best position to win with the Celtics look like next year. What do the Sixers look like the East is going to be fun to watch. We know who the top teams are. I think it's just going to be a matter of health, but also you this much. I still believe the Brooklyn Nets sure if they are healthy, they have a talented roster. They have a talented roster that's worthy enough of going out and competing for championship Kevin Durrant Kari Irving Seth Curry, Nick Claxton. They were able add TJ worn he's going to be looking to get paid on a come back from his injury cam Thomas a lot of people don't even know who he is. He's big time, yet it sounds funny to say Ben Simmons but I me. Can he be as bad as he was against the Hawks the last time we saw him play Royce O'Neill is over. Joe Harris is coming back date they got something on somebody's just that they healthy. I think they can compete for championship what you think 855-2124 CBS before we pick up the phones shepherding what your thoughts man good on Joseph. Sigh. Good on Sean marks good on Steve Nash, Kevin Durrant got outplayed by a mile by Jason Tatum in that series that has the nerve to wine bench and complain that the Nets aren't giving him enough when it wasn't him who got paid $40 million to rehab a ruptured Achilles and played zero seconds JR had the nerve to then try to get to people that are deserving of many more years at their respective position stepping Sean marks Steve Nash fired give the pink slip and he tried to go behind close circuit and close doors.

The reality is this JR Kevin to rent better be thanking his lucky stars that Sean marks Steve Nash have strong character. Now that being said, Kevin Durrant, a great basketball player. He has not been a great teammate in more ways than one year but what would you think the Brooklyn Nets are going to do this all got it.

How is ours recognized the season that Kendra still the best player and Kevin Durrant as best player without Steph Curry as the second best player has never succeeded and that will be the case this year.

Okay 855-2124 CBS we got rich gold from Chicago.

You're the JR sport Risha was a bridge your topic and overview of the event giving all either second or third most likely. When we were frankly delighted. Where: what people don't know about you, and player, but I think his own impression of the self-important codebook that and I think that there are no look. You can go into work thereafter, when you I don't trust gardeners.

Why really comes down to scrap the recruit career. Yet he never figured first.

You never wonder, a city with a loaded ruptured. They could winter Brooklyn you want to go straight well that that's that doesn't tell the full story though about Drew because you're right, it doesn't.

But when you talk about a loaded lineup. I'm not sure about the formula having role players that your employer and complement different game, but here's the thing that concerns me of how the general manager I look up to make sure had a great deal of myth 17% of the games over 15 year career that the equivalent of 200 yams injuries, nagging mixtures, making up about that's equivalent to almost to have Steve again you have them play you want to come invest that money in a guy myth 17% of the game that that that that also. That's to look at the totality of his career and he injure his injury history is not fair. I think if you want to look at the past several years, as he is aged absolutely up for the most part, especially for a guy who is a 7 foot shooting guard, the beginning portion of his career.

He's been relatively healthy.

I don't think it's oh shock and surprise that the first major injury that he had was to his foot now is pretty much the only dangerous bad scary injury he had. If I have to look at recently. He had a Injury win the gold with against what excuse me while with the Golden State Warriors and that calf injury because he pushed it because it was in the playoffs because he was her before that because he went and tried to plan a finals. His Achilles gave out. He missed an entire season. After that, if I have to look at his MCL injury this year. Okay a guy fell into his knee and he missed about a month and 1/2 to 2 months and in so I can't look at his entire career and go. Oh well, he's he's missed almost to sue 15 to 20% of his games or if they want to look at. Recently and if you want to look at his age. I think that's reasonable. The other point that you mentioned in talking about a loaded lineup that was a very young team with the Oklahoma City thunder very young, probably so young that you have to go what what what the hell are you doing here, probably no different than what we just saw with the Boston Celtics so I can't look at at Kevin Durrant and just go man who would want this guy.

He's injury prone. He can't win with a stacked roster. If there's any reason that I believe anyone would not want Kevin Durrant. It's really only because of his age and we have no idea how he's gonna how he's going to H out.

That said, he's about to be 34 years old 7 foot tall shooting are had a broken foot couple of surgeries needed has had me issue blew out his Achilles. What does that look like but we know this when he's on the court.

30 points easy. One of the most dynamic ever take more your calls. 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS what are your thoughts on the Brooklyn Nets and where they can go with a returning Kevin Durrant Kari Irving Inouye, Ben Simmons is there to more vehicles on the other side. You are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio and you try calling now with 855-2124 CBS's the JR sport Risha on CBS sports radio right before we went to break.

We talked about the return of Kevin Durrant of the Brooklyn Nets released, or at least the fact that he is rescinded his trade request and we can all assume it's because there was, it was nowhere to trade into the Brooklyn Nets did not buckle. They did not been they did not fold in so he will be returning to the team to at least for now. Honor his contract and that's four more years it just like a presidency. That's four more years in Brooklyn.

I guess until he gets to the end and he wants to be traded or they decide to trade up.

And so Kevin Durrant will be back. Kari Irving will be on an expiring contract. You have a returning hopefully Ben Simmons from his back injury. You have Royce O'Neill brought in TJ Warren Nick Claxton is an emerging big in the NBA, you still have Seth Curry great shooter you have Joe Harris or another great shooter big man great shooter fees out there and healthy enough to go out there and play and so they they got a roster like any team.

It depends on health but I'll tell you this sure Kevin Durrant will be 34 in a few months. And if there's one element that you really want to look at this team and say well, where does it come together outside of health it's it's leadership Kevin Durrant has shown that that ain't his. His mode of operation. He's not going to be at the forefront rally in the troops think that's one of the reasons that he wanted out. We know he took issue with how he was being treated in Golden State at the end he's never going to be at the forefront. Robert RI what you can expect when he plays please healthy is one of the best players that the league is ever seen.

But when the going gets tough for the Brooklyn that's is there basketball talent and a health is that gonna be enough. Who the hell is gonna bring them together and angle be Kevin Durrant. We seen him try to bail snogging to be Ben Simmons on the what what clout does he have none. And don't don't don't get me started. Kari Irving leader that it doesn't, they they don't go together way what you have it near don't go to the JR sport Risha CBS sports radio 855-2124 CBS. All things considered. Still, it sounds roster. If there healthy I could see them in the East Farms. I could see them in a finals when I pegged them at the start of the season to be the favorites to win it all know, but they can go all the way, they can go to the finals. Matter fact, let's hear what Mr. Avery Johnson had to say about this on CBS sports HQ Kevin Durrant in all of his representatives forgiven us. You know to three months of a fun content we share on CBS sports HQ even though it is indeed up in a meaningless chat. In a lot of ways but I think when they found out is that Joe Siad all of our dance front office ID Kevin Durrant obviously tried to force his way out. It didn't work. The typo players they were receiving your return was going to significantly set the next back Joe sign owner held his ground. As of right now because I Kevin Durrant to be returning to you. James Hart forced his way out of forced his way out of Houston seen other players know guys like data sources. We have new Orleans branch Friday didn't work. At this point will see what the future holds. This stage of it looks like a lot of the elders are cheering on Josiah right now knowing that he made as they all should terrible precedent would've been set terrible 855-2124 CBS.

I mean, maybe, maybe the Brooklyn Nets. They need a guy like you.assassin who by the way, is going to be returning for his 20th season with the Miami Heat 20th season.

He just turned 42 years old. He basically a play at all last year. He played 13 games last year. He's a coach he's making about 2 1/2 million dollars gift Pat Riley's got Brooklyn Nets need you Donna's house them on the bench to just punch Kari if things get kinda funky. Let's go to Adam in Toronto your CBS sports radio. They are really pretty big Mike all met what I guarantee that whole Kevin Durrant saga and wanting out of Brooklyn over within the next one or two years is going to be disgruntled again gone out. The way you every time you get on that you want. I'm really happy Sean, Mark, Josiah, you know… That no man your your coming here to fall you're not playing at all about trading you been a second time in multiple years I Kevin Durrant I love the Lord, you know, with the whole tree are with the whole final goal is really no point watch basketball for quite a few years regarding what the final map you on old date of you know like you wouldn't really start that had just signed a contract and are just one of you. I know you bought the Colby situation, but you don't not rebuilding even want to help you not happy in terms of the net know how they can how they can do next year. I think that he got on final, but I think that their peak know that part that he bus driver the boss) and I know you one of the greatest 15 players ever lay some up but he is not a leader at all, not on. I note the bad example you not crystallizing before the great leader but not MPs, not Janik. Not a leader so no other leaders on so I think their peak in the comments final. I think I think Milwaukee often better and I think the words are better in the last law that greeted you start thinking JR will thank you Anna for calling from Toronto here, the warriors are going to be one of the best teams going out there and defend in the championship.

Think no doubt about that was the Clay Thompson continues to improve it. It's gonna be a fun NBA seasons put it that way and I will think where all the way done with the player movement and will see what happens with Donovan Mitchell. God knows what the Los Angeles Lakers do they really going to go into a season with Russell Westbrook at the point guard spinal I don't know about that. I don't know, Frank is calling from Alaska your CBS sports radio. There are a lot of good that Norm Glickman stood up, go that direction.

I think disappointment is really difficult right now I don't know. You know, followed right, but I think the Brooklyn maps and all other from 100 to 5 this year to work together more separately and then I got a bump up a lot more, Portland Trl., Blazers. I just know that when you're in you know I was.

I grew up watching 70 and am not saying that they were more disciplined but it did seem like they would. They did what they said what they meant well, that that's what happened. That's what happens when you make in this type of money you know the players they they have more leverage in and it's it's only a handful of players but those handful of players. They set the tone for everybody else. I mean come on now is Seth Curry going to wake up and say hey I want out is random. I'll know random player in the league Nicholas but to think about what we doing here is only a handful of guys you can, throw their weight around and they've done a little too much, especially when they're getting paid more money than every and anybody else and are we supposed to think that will change when the Damien Lillard's of the world and the salaries are now moving into the 60 million per year range. Yet the money is there but everybody got a start on an end of the bargain. The players have to understand hey, you get paid handsomely and you might be traded on the check for your calls. On the other side the JR sport preshow CBS sports radio
