Thank you. People tuning in on your local affiliates people locked in.

Wow have more news here so much news New York Knicks given away money New York Knicks might trade got parent hey Shep, what, what, what's all this New York news about man rather while right now New York Knicks in the scene, RJ Barrett, I thought maybe a break in like that of a niche office and I hadn't seen through on nine New York Knicks are working on a deal with with RJ Barrett, $120 million extension you know I feel about some RJ Barrett Jerry talk about an individual that I believe has the most raw talent in them. When you combine skill and size. I include signing the conversation as I do John Moran RJ Barrett has the best ceiling. Now you put him in a franchise that knows how to win all the sudden he can elevate tenfold.

This the sad thing about his situation. He spent three years with the disgraceful New York Knicks soaked the fact that he's averaging 20 points a game actually looking like he's continuously getting better by the year is a miracle in and of itself, and then your boy every judge going for Homer number 50.

He's the only Yankee that has consistently showed up throughout the entire season in JR, you know this. He is on pace to know what is on pace for you to break the damn American League record all know Ono you being very diplomatic care mind yes he's on pace to break what most people actually consider to be the true single-season home run record and I both know that said that last week I know that that but as you say now sound what we gotta hide. I got a whole hour here to talk about our jobs. I can't can't dump everything here in a few seconds. I gotta hit the we gotta hit the point will first of all it is a lot of New York news going on right now and we don't spend a lot of time talking about New York teams here because quite frankly, they've sucked okay New York Jets as young teen.

Their growing and New York Giants. Okay young teen that their growing meaning for going to put a quarterback out there, and Daniel Jones who is probably one step out the door. The New York Mets maybe we can talk about them in about a month and the World Series same thing. Maybe the New York Yankees but the Yankees have started to stink the drawing up as well and I guess the Brooklyn Nets count as a New York scene. We certainly have talked about Kevin Durrant more than we talked about the actual squad tonight as sub just mentioned our and judge hit another homerun.

This time, number 50 50 New York Yankees just lost to the Angels. Of course the Angels for the three angels can beat anybody except the Yankees hour and judge now joins Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle as the only Yankees to ever have multiple 50 home runs seasons. Unfortunately for the Yankees hour and judge is killing it in the Yankees there nine and 17 in this month of August and so if you actually want to go ahead and find some positivity.

Listen to this homerun call Allen judge number 50 Yankees radio network. Yeah, and it's not just them judge because earlier tonight. We talked about someone else in another homerun. He's actually trying to push himself towards 700 career home runs. His name is Albert pools he hit another one tonight.

This time homerun number 694 against the Cincinnati Reds.

Take a listen.

In the next pitch is Albert is here hi all, number 694 and the other way, down the line from the Cardinals radio network and Albert pools continues to be hot hot like fire Albert pools since the All-Star break is batting 400 okay. Albert pools since the All-Star break has turned into a another human being. He's cranking out home runs he has a month right now to pass Alex Rodriguez, who currently sits around at number 696 and if you can do math. He's only six away from 700 home runs and so yes, Albert pools and Allen judge. They continue to potentially assault the record books and I'd love to see it.

I'd love to see Albert pools get to that 700 market past Alex Rodriguez and I would certainly love to see our and judge go past 61. Right now he's on pace for 62 and I've said this and I'm going to say it again for anyone within earshot of my voice. If Allen judge hit 61 in size or gets to 62. I am going to look at him as the home Ron leader in this single season home. Ron King you can run around and say all will look we don't know whatever George is doing.

We don't have any evidence to to say otherwise. Do you and if you don't don't tell me a damn thing until we do.

What's there to discuss whatever yarn judge homerun a week. Iran ago, we don't know if you did anything. We got evidence of the other guys out here. Chetan Barry bonds we got evidence of it. So are we going to do ignore it to the ball over the fence. It did. That's a very elementary thing even think about. Of course the ball went over the fence wasn't aided. It was and if we ever get evidence that I'm judge cheated and yet he deserves to get his ass walked in the court of public opinion to open so then man keeps swinging for the fences.

Keep it numb over and I just say this. Thank you for adding another element. Thank you for adding another reason for us to be entertained as the major league baseball season comes to a close.

It is a while for me to even think about as we roll into Tuesday morning as we get closer.

September is right here staring us in the face. August 30. Football is going to be going night football season, the NFL season starts next week.

People are back in school classes are underway. People are getting ready to start the work week. Folks are preparing for their final summer vacation as we we roll into Labor Day. I mean, will damn at least baseball is giving us another type of a chase. Let's see Albert pools get to seven, 700 and C. Allen judge go out there and give us 62 homerun sign me up if it was apparent judgment New York Yankees. The they be completely in a toilet right now here in the second half of the season jackass. You question. You certainly can. When you look back at what we saw in 1998, it seems like that was the biggest story by far F any of the four major North American professional sports. When McGuire and Sosa Robison look into eclipse Marist and did so and by leaps and bounds.

Yes, do you feel like from a macro perspective that baseball is doing a really good job or decent job at really pushing these two storylines out there and you have mentioned this throughout the entirety of the show we are talking about such easy guys to root for. They are so admirable in not just how they conduct themselves on the field but who they are off the field is baseball doing a good job of capitalizing off of this because we haven't seen two storylines this big in quite a while in a sport that is really lagging when it comes to big storylines in gaining the imagination and joy of the American public.

I think what we've we've had this conversation so I want I want to beat a dead horse baseball as an overall has done a bad job.

It's tough to say baseball is doing a bad job in particular with Albert Poole Holston and Allen judge went when the foundation isn't set right there and if I have to think about the homerun chase. Specifically, coverage for Albert Poole Holston approaching 700 home runs our coverage potentially of Allen judge going past 60 home runs. I think there's so many options and so many things to do. 1998 was was very, very special like it's right there on the line before we we really blew up with with Internet access. It was really special on the line as to know what the importance of a of a program like SportsCenter was. And so we didn't have as many options if I have to think about a homerun chase between anybody. Let's say Allen judge and I don't know Paul Goldschmidt or fill in the blank. They were on a homerun chase this year and guys were trying to swing set to 60+ homeruns, if that was the case with hot tea spelling no matter who it is. I think the coverage would be so fractured right now because you don't have to tune in to SportsCenter.

You don't have to tune in to the local news. I think the fact that things are so in direct that I cannot keep up with everything.

Obviously course, you tick-tock.

You don't have to watch SportsCenter to get the news before getting it from barstool and ESPN here at CBS and you got so many options and so many acts there's not that element of all my God, I need to turn on the television at 3 o'clock or 6 o'clock to see what McGuire and Sosa did and sold to a certain degree I don't think we can have that and in all sports to a certain degree major league baseball is handcuffed and in part of the reason that they handcuffed is they've handcuffed themselves. It be nice if more people yell cared about her sore arm and judge in and who knows, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised if and when he hit 61 or 62. It just it pales in comparison with the popularity of the sport is not there. Were talking, 700 home runs to me this is been done Allen to tell you that this has been on two times in the last 49 years and I'm being kind in eating allowing bond to enter this conversation and I see history.

I see training right out in front of me right now.

Sabrina Carpenter wearing an outfit which happened yesterday. None of your knees pop even knows who that is, by the way, and I'm seeing the bachelorette men tell all Aaron ABC.

This is trending five times more than what Poole Holston judge is trending right now. Yeah well the fact is this is what were were in a different space than 20 years ago, and that's part of why say baseball has handcuffed itself along the way there's no there's no magic bullet to fix it for 700 homerun chase or one that happens to be 61.

There is no magic bullet. It's like saying hey we we built the house and all of a sudden just because we've, you know, put a new door in the front were going to attract the new buyer doesn't don't work that way. You still have work to do on the entire house and so the popularity of the game has changed and waned the attractiveness of the game has changed in weighing the options that people have to entertain themselves has changed. Look in 1998 I had to watch television, play a videogame go outside read the newspaper or magazine that said, here we are in 2022.

If you are someone who happens to be, I'll know, let's say 15 1617 1819 years old. You got, you can you can open up tick-tock you can scroll through Instagram like you have endless opportunities to entertain yourself in segments of 15 seconds or less. So part of it is baseball a part of it is just just where the world is and we are not a different space and so yeah, I actually believe Allen judge hassince you probably receive more attention. This is going to be a blip on the evening news and quite frankly man it that the evening news for segment of the population is it doesn't even have the same popularity because the the new cycle never stops 24 seven you can get the news that live at 3 AM somebody's delivering it you can you can swipe up in and see the news. I mean we just told you about the New York Knicks and in looking at RJ Barrett trying to give him a four year $120 million deal while still trying to figure out if they're gonna trade for Donovan Mitchell so the world is changed and so yeah it be nice if Allen judge got more coverage be nice if Albert Poole. More mainstream coverage but major league baseball a whole Lotta work of doing, laying the foundation for people to pay attention just in the first place. The JR sport re-show here with you on CBS sports radio where paying attention to every thing to update you on what the New York Knicks just did tell you about what could potentially happen with Donovan Mitchell we will talk about Jimmy garrotte below and his new restructured contract with the 49ers. We got a lot to do before our role as the JR sport re-show CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio all over her so Joe would not agree with your colleagues. Now with 855-2124 CVS JR sport re-show here with you on CBS sports radio man it's been a lot of news to come down the pipe tonight. We've seen some amazing accomplishments Serena Williams extending her run here were not even her wrong extending her career when her first round match up at the U.S. Open.

She will live to play another day. She will be playing Wednesday night and every game that Serena wins could potentially be her last. Albert Poole almost hits another homerun number 694 for his career as the cards they beat the Cincinnati Reds 13 to 4 hour and judge hits the 50th homerun for the season, except for the New York Yankees. Not a good look. The Yankees, they lose to the Angels. The final score 423 and then also New York news and it's not about Donovan Mitchell being traded to the New York Knicks but the New York Knicks I guess they've gotten tired of the the back and forth in the negotiations with the Utah Jazz and Danny Ainge for Donovan Mitchell RJ Barrett New York Knicks starting shooting guard finalizing a four-year contract.

$120 million RJ Barrett's been able to basically put up 20 points a game last season scoring average is increased every single year someone who can go out there and get your five and six rebounds a game.

Maybe eventually he can also be a 25 and five player fee increases the scoring output. He certainly needs to the increase of his efficiency. Not the greatest or best of shooters but can certainly get to the basket with the best of them and this might close the door for now on Donovan Mitchell to the New York Knicks's not to say that he ain't going, but looks like the New York Knicks will stand pat and Donovan Mitchell may stay or start the season with the Utah Jazz so a lot of question marks a lot of things going on and as RJ Barrett gets a contract extension. I did mention to you that Jimmy garrotte below his contract has been changed. Jimmy G entering into the final year of his contract with the 49ers. It was an expectation that he would be traded well today. The 49ers is doing a new deal with Jimmy garrotte below this final season instead of Jimmy G making $24 million. He's restructured his contract to only make 6 1/2 million. He's going to be the highest-paid backup in the NFL.

He can earn more money through playing time, incentives, and we know what that means of trade Lance socks he's going to get the call if trade Lance starts to stink the joy not to put Jimmy G out there. He has a no trade clause is a part of this deal and he's not going to be attacked but there's an understanding that hey Jimmy, we might call you and trade you Jimmy garrotte below. Here we expect them to be traded, released at his $24 million salary but he's gonna be standing right there behind trade Lance and I would not be surprised if trade Lance gets a tap on the shoulder and stole hey so that you and Kutner right now in a send Jimmy G out there.

You know, we can think about Kyle Shanahan. He has talk where he was very clear a few weeks ago and saying that trade Lance is the future that we've had this conversation with Jimmy G.I. can go ahead and think back months ago where the organization said we talk to Jimmy G and told them that were moving on when Al Jimmy garrotte blows he's insurance and please believe it.

If trade Lance that way. He had a poor preseason if he sucks in the regular-season Jimmy garrotte blows gonna be out there.

You'll typically we look at Jimmy G and say well it what one does he get her winter they put in Jimmy G's replacement well Jimmy garrotte below was now in a position to replace the Daewoo they drafted to replace him. The 49ers since bringing on Jimmy G they have a record of eight and 28 when his asses heard and he doesn't play at the same time, the Niners are 35 and 16 when Jimmy garrotte below is on the field working to find out real soon how committed. Kyle Shanahan is to trade Lance will gonna find out real soon how committed the locker room is to believing trade. Lance is ready to go as a starter because the minute he sucks Jimmy G is going to get that call because Kyle Shanahan cannot afford to lose the locker room just to play a guy because Jimmy G can't stay healthy and I'm ready. I'm here the quarterback controversy.

We got a lot to do a lot to discuss before we roll out 855-2124 CVS. That's 855-2124 CVS what you think about the Niners holding onto Jimmy G every quarterback, where every team right now has its QB Jimmy G did have that shoulder surgery earlier on in the off-season, he was just cleared. He's been practicing off on the side away from the team.

This is a soul while scenario no Kyle Shanahan. He made it clear a month ago that Jimmy G.

Yeah, we appreciate what you did but it's time to move on. Listen to this. Jimmy understands where we understand. What I can't tell you how appreciative I Jimmy and be inherent so appreciably different. Last year I think Jimmy and we knew what movie made the year before on that Jimmy did a helluva job come the camp and one in the job and to control close to the Super Bowl, but we have moved on the tray for starting campout this way we think Jimmy would been traded of the surgery didn't happen on it that he needed to do it so there's no older and all but it's good to see that he is healthy but now it's all just see how this will end up in oh Jimmy understand it ended up with him taking a pay cut. It ended up with the Niners not being able to move him and now it is ending up with Jimmy garrotte below. Looking over the shoulder of trade Lance like you can't make this up.

I'm I'm on my go to Sam almost certain I feel very confident that there's going to come a point in the season which Jimmy garrotte below is going to be back out on the field for the 49ers, whether it's a matter of injury, whether it's a matter of trade Lance just not cutting the mustard.

I would not be shocked or surprised Jimmy garrotte blows on that field and Kyle Shanahan gets that audio click played again and the entire organization is just gonna look real foolish. The 49ers they bad opportunities here to solidify the quarterback position in the St.'s name looking good if entrée Lance on gobble dam and I got him looking over my shoulder. You're committed to me for the job. Okay, I didn't have the best of preseason's and now you're keeping him around.

What you don't trust me. This is going to do one or two things for trade Lance is going to motivate him to go out there and perform better and hold onto the job or see what is made up is he to be the Niners starting quarterback for the future wars Kyle Shanahan to be looked upon as hey weren't you the offense of genius, were you the guy who had the QB will configure amount Kyle Shanahan is tied in to trade Lance and any success or failure that he does report does not have an account. Shanahan maybe look on his way out the door to the JR sport ratio here with you on CBS sports radio to take more your calls. On the other side. We talked about a lot of legends tonight. A lot of historic performances Serena Williams Albert pools we talked about Tom Brady being on the list of the number one on the NFL players top 100.

And yeah, sure. We've talked about should be garrotte below to take more your calls before we roll out we got a lot to do. Suggest sport ratio CBS sports radio listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio report by saying I love the show and thank you so real totally different topic: now with 855-2124 CVS.

It has been a night of greatness some amazing performances, amazing feats that we talked about Jimmy garrotte will take a pay cut Serena Williams advancing at the U.S. Open so cool. Every match is pretty much could be her last match Albert Poole holes in an hour and judge both hitting home runs that could elevate them in just history individual seasons and overall career. In the case of Albert Poole holes we mentioned Tom Brady ending up on the NFL's list of top 100 players which is voted on by players and we also we got a lot of callers here.

So before I roll out before Amy Lawrence comes through at the top of the hour to take you the rest of the way I'm going to talk to you. That's 855-2124 CVS that's 855-2124 CBS Roger is calling from Louisiana you're CBS sports radio.

Also, Roger Taylor yelled talking about the homerun rate earlier and yet a really good point about your everything being spread out over social media and all that but I will wonder what you think about the MLB that are shying away from mad Mike Culbert because I didn't bar so many own homerun rate and obedient painted woman.

No, well, I don't think it's so much major league baseball shying away from coverage. I think you did there has to be an appetite from a the media to deliver this news and this information and it has to be an appetite from the fans to consume it and and and part of that is major league baseball than just, just, what I said earlier there work over the years.

It's legitimate and it makes sense that they would want to shy away from the coverage maybe not so much because we don't want to know push judge or or or Poole holes because they they could be cheating. I think it's more so of just the public's general interest in, and they have a they have a part to play in. That's true but that's that's reasonable to think right now would you think there probably not really interested because of all the priority while I think the public is is not all that interested in baseball for a multitude of reasons and that the biggest one is the audience is his aging up for just in general.

Baseball fans are closer to 60 years old, where if you look at NFL fans or NBA fans there close with the average age is closer to the 4040 40 so it's a simple matter at this a 20 year gap. There's a reason that exists is because younger people are more invested into things that moved by quickly and so I can I can go on spin out stats and numbers with you. I will be able to do it here in 10 minutes. But there's a lot of information and I've shared a lot of this on their because I'm invested. I'm a huge baseball fan I know that there is, there has been, or there is a baseball fan listens me right now: well, will you love baseball want you promoting the positivity of I'm doing both, you know, I can you see I can be honest about something you can love something. Think about it like a person I can love someone and love something and still be critical of it and I don't I don't have to run around with blinders on it so I love baseball.

This is why I me here and choosing to highlight our and judge in Albert Poole holes and then like me and you, Roger. We can have a conversation about why there isn't more coverage so I appreciate the Coleman no doubt about it.

Much love to all my folks down Louisiana WW well, especially out in Rawlins and Baton Rouge. David is called from Pittsburgh you're CBS sports radio JR my questions about our poor porn for him to get it this year. In a scenario if he ended up with like 69 Jeter 699 you he's announced that the last year what you think or would you be in favor if he came back next year just to get the 700 because it's such a rare milestone and if he would do that in St. Louis would show no interest in finding him.

You think there would be a team out there that would sign him just to give him the chance to break that milestone well in quick quickly.

I just wanted to say I hope you get this your bid. If he doesn't write about the same come back because he's class all the way and I know I'm been selfish to the fan but I love the theme playing exterior then I'll hang up and get your thoughts.

Thank you.

Davis calls in Pittsburgh know I believe Albert Poole holes he's been adamantly came out of his own mouth. These light look, I don't care how close I get to 700 I can sit right at 699 I'm coming back and I believe Albert Poole holes is been doing this for a long time. There are enough rumors out there.

He's 42 years old enough rumors that he might be a little bit older than 42 years old and he's just been such an honorable guy throughout his entire career. I'm going to take him at his word at face value, this is it.

I don't think were going to see anymore of Albert Poole holes think of think he's done he's not give me reason to believe otherwise. Shannon: from Vegas you're CBS sports radio JR thanks for taking my call so you can't get out a couple of points before the break about a gynecological situation that can either make a more break and I exactly. I think our glop will best friend is going to be denied or defective or not they can actually keep them in game and a lot of not to have to make a ton to come back that far.

Glop will I think the reason that he stood infected Cisco and took the pay cut thing of the McGill humility plate. The Niners organization did a completely 60.

They said he was gone all the studies back.

Why they know Trey Langford, not the guy and expect them not, if Bud went to come back on the field what your thoughts well I wouldn't say saying that he's not the guys is more than overall indictment, he may not be the guy right now and we know he had an opportunity to quote "sit and learn. He's he's had spot opportunities to play, play a little bit last year, but it's a whole different animal when you're the guy required to go out there and just fall out 477 games and over 70 names and having glop also wanted to be a lot of pressure know you got someone looking over your shoulder but you have good advice to get into the game. Sure sure and and and have the Niners taken a full flip. I'm not prepared to say that but bringing him on and keeping him one does show you what they think about yes right if they were confident that he was the guy then man it would be no pay cut. They would just come and release and update the date they don't feel good about it and that's that's clear as day, Shannon done about you got it. Ellis is called from Dallas. Go ahead Alice either. There are love you sooner.

Thank you so what do you} Barbara] right up to 10-year-old room reform are based on general exactly well will baseball as a as a sport is not built for a society that pretty much as a shortening attention span you mention you at your kids man, it's looks I put see this way. This is an easy example I can share the NBA operates its league pass in such a way where you can tune in to the you can buy for a couple of cents you can purchase the last minute of the game which a lot of people find to be the only exciting thing the NBA embraces that the NBA has loosened up and change rules to keep things exciting to increase offense. The NFL has changed rules and change the game as much as we don't pay attention to it.

The NFL is change the game. Over the past 10, 15, 20 years to increase offense of output we see batting increasing an interest in it and sold-out baseball needs to do is to advance but baseball is so traditionalist it's it's really difficult to get a hold on.

Do they need to give the entire game a facelift. No, but it is quite apparent they need to hit the fast-forward button and that's how you get people involved but baseball is a game ain't going anywhere. It's not going anywhere but yet is there large population of kids in youngsters and teens who love the game. Yeah, like everything else, but it's it's not America's pastime like 5060 years ago where in a different world right now, you want bring him go. Our tears won't Madden NBA know to carry the writer's own publicly about your mobile show your understand Ellis listen is there's a lot of a lot of work to be done.

There will see Thomas's call of the northern Callie you're CBS sports radio what's up Thomas. Here are and I believe your training is ready. It is reported that the gardeners are talking about. Pick it up and crisper and he's a rookie you start again but everybody is so enthused with Jimmy though we know oh is a good quarterback yeah not going to go where we want to go and all he needed his competence, yet will I don't I don't know if I'd say people enthused with Jimmy Kuralt below. I think they're saying you can start all these other teams and maybe two.

But nobody was willing to trade for him. Yes, we may well I think I think a part of that psalmists. And thank you call slowly, Callie.

I think a lot of it is this what they've openly discussed its timing. It's his injury Jimmy Kuralt below to have a better chance to be traded.

If you didn't have a shoulder cut open and repair and here we've gone through an entire off-season you think about some of the places and guys who been moved. Obviously, DeShawn Watson. Obviously you can take a look at the Carolina Panthers we can go up to Seattle. We know he was not going to go up there to a division rival. You can think about other teams like like Houston men. They want to see what what Mills can do for full on season so he's left is left holding the bag's Jimmy G did not go to Chicago you can go to the saints. He didn't go to Carolina Jimmy G is still with the 49ers and Trey Lance. He might be the guy but it doesn't appear that he's going to be the guy right now Chuck is called from Cleveland. Go ahead, shock and highlight why y'all all that you talk real talk is glide basically.

Goldfein said back my hand up like aware you know Sarah Graham.

I will land given away or bag crane notes you know you are trying to crash and burn. Soaking only get another gating in where he had you followed what I'm saying to know every guy which bank awarded took some of them came that she clear what I'm saying wouldn't blow on his madness right now. Will Baker Mayfield is certainly in a different position not is accomplished of a quarterback as is Jimmy Kuralt below, and it's not so much as Jimmy Galapagos sat back, I'm sure Jimmy does not want to be a backup. Although he'll be the highest-paid. I'm also sure that Jimmy Kuralt below didn't want to have to shoulder cut open. All things considered. When you look at Jimmy garrotte blowing his injury history. He should be happy that he is still in this position the JR sport preshow here with you on CBS sports radio. It's been a night of legends. Much love to Serena Williams that she's been able to continue on and at least for one more singles match extend her career should be in action again on Wednesday night a big shout outs to Albert pools tonight hitting his 694th homerun to away from Alex Rodriguez and maybe even gets to 700 and then you have Aron judge tonight. He hit his 50th homerun is Aron judge going to assault the record books and move past 61 in this upcoming month of September. A lot of legends with the legendary performances. Okay Shep thank you for an amazing night. Thank you all so much that everybody tuned in and locked in all across North America to be back with you tomorrow 10 PM Eastern time, 7 PM Pacific don't move your CBS sports radio. The JR sport preshow for tonight.

It's a wrap but Amy Lawrence is next. Don't you
