It is the JR sport reef show here with on sea be asked sports radio were coming to you live from the rocky mortgage Studios when you need cash out of your home in a simple way to get it rockets rocket can. I would be hanging out here with you for the next three hours. Put on your tablet. All you have to do puncheon CBS sports radio listen in the car at home in the garage at work and you never have to worry about being stuck in 1 Individual Pl.

Thank you people listening on Sirius XM channel 158 and everybody locked in on the smart speaker. We talked about cut day. A lot of NFL players are former NFL players right now some will get another chance, another opportunity as rosters have been cut down from 80 to 53 approximately 800 NFL players sucks getting that pink slip.

Maybe he'll join a practice squad. Maybe they'll get picked up by another team man dreams get shattered and they get shattered quick no big-name cuts today. The raters they cut Alex Leatherwood offense of lineman from from Alabama man this guy was picked at number 17.

Last year in the raters are basically paying him $15 million to go away in new regime.

We don't give a damn about this guy doesn't want to play football but I'll commit the penalty so he has to go mall and Mac was let go by the Texans. If you have the Texans man you.

You might surprise a few people but that there's so many spots that have to get filled on this roster.

It's no big surprise there as well as we continue on in the show I would share with you some comments made by John Gruden. He finally opened up about his email scandal, even though he still pretty much in litigation mold against the NFL saying that the NFL intentionally leaked his emails. His comments rather interesting. There was an admission of shame, but there was also a defense by John Gruden of his character doesn't doesn't gonna fit together if you ask me will get into that also John wall very, very clear about how he felt at one point in time while he dealt with injuries and also some some personal matters and it makes you really say will damn everybody's acumen. That's when the comments that that John Gruden said, but John walls take it. John walls comments take it to a totally different space and so we got a lot to do a lot to get into, but right before we went to break. I mean damn Aron judging another homerun 51 home runs by Allen Judge. Currently the loss it will Los Angeles Lakers army will talk about them as well.

Russell Westbrook in Patrick Beverly their reports that they are going to keep them together with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim they're losing to the New York Yankees right now in Orange County 722 Aron judge already has two hits on the night these two for three has three RBIs 51 home runs were not even in September yet he's now 10 away from tying Roger Marist and dammit if he hit 62 is going to have more home runs than any player ever in the American League and shore. Barry bonds is the all-time season leader recordholder for home runs got Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. There in no big shock or surprise that these gentlemen unfortunately their records are tainted a little bit. They used okay they they got assistance in getting these records and so I hope Aron judge gets it.

We'll talk last night about about Albert Poole Holston and and and what he might be able to do as his career comes to a close, but Aron judge is in the prime of his career.

Aron judge is in a contract year and what a way to go out there and prove your worth. What a way to go out there and let your bat do the talking.

This is this is really an interesting juxtaposition. New York City is a big gas city. Forget the United States of America. New York City is one of the biggest cities on earth. One of the most densely populated their people in New York City in which is a baseball crazy town, which is a sports crazy town. There are so many people in New York City and the metropolitan area that they are folks who don't even know who Aron judges there people who have no idea who Kevin Durant is there people in New York City they wouldn't know the nets from the mats. True campsites and there's people here who don't know Cavender, I just want to make sure impairments correctly, you did there. 16 to 20 million people in the metropolitan area. Kevin Durant.

Your brain is so tied into supports.

Think about every person who lives in New York City. Think about every person who gets up in the morning and goes to work. Think about every corner and every spot of the planet that people come from New York City is a melting pot. Unfortunately, New York City is also in a downtime like a mini of our cities here.

Everybody doesn't give a damn about sports the way that you and I do and so yes, if your sports fan you know who Kevin Durrant is but if I'm coming over into New York City to make a living and I'm working 9 to 5 to send money back home to wherever I came from. I may not give a damn about basketball.

I may not care about the Yankees and so yes, this might sound shocking shop. There are a lot of people in New York City in the city. The entire city and metropolitan area who have no idea who Kevin Durrant is the same thing what what part doesn't make so I just J I'm just I have never been more shocked by anything you said like Joe, the only Ottoman listener and I don't mean to be distressed for knobs on but I'm just the guy has been around for 16 years. He's 6 foot 11 and I think that's an understatement. He's played in multiple Olympic after multiple Olympic so he's been on an international stage basketball as you have alluded to has been governed and run by the most successful commissioners we've ever seen in history team sports so they have put this guy out there on the forefront for everybody using cash chaplaincy.

Yes you you you make a living in sports I am and I try to but I'm okay with you to the Senate about Lebron like to people not know who the Brian I met him I try to be funny here. No, I can take a trip up to 116th St. and third Avenue.

I can walk into a restaurant and I can bring up Kevin Durrant to the back cook who might be male or female, and that cook may not even give a damn about NBA basketball right but that but there but they're aware of who Kevin Durrant is they could identify the liminal basketball player.

No no no, I'm sorry to break it to you with as many people who live in New York City there people in New York who care about the arts. They may know Lebron, they may not know the subsidiaries of all the other basketball players Kevin Durrant is one of the most famous basketball players on the planet but I hate to tell you there are a lot of people who don't give a damn, or follow basketball even to say that they know who the top players are and if I have to think about the entire metropolitan area for all the people who don't come from New York City who were born in New York City who come from other places across the world know not everybody knows these guys you and I know them, because we talk about them all day so that he runs the acceptable. Is there any other exception that bounces basketball outside Lebron where if you went to any café any art venue. They're aware of who a Lebron James is Lebron James Michael Jordan Kobe Kobe Kobe Bryant shack shack probably just step step, maybe not. I doubt it got no this ain't the same conversation about basketball man. This is not this is almost at times about when I talk about a popularity of baseball's like hey, most people can can sell you who would Derek Jeter is just another and in America as an American figure of famous American. Most people go all you Derek Jeter baseball, whether they know what he looks like or the never heard of them.

Most people can identify the name, the name sounds familiar look.

I put it to you this way shot Jennifer Lopez is from the Bronx, New York.

You know that right. I think everybody knows that it went well. There is a famous clip which is not surprising at all of Jennifer Lopez walking through the Bronx walking through her own neighborhood where you would think everybody from the Bronx notes Jennifer Lopez Jennifer Lopez walk through her old neighborhood. She walked by her old house. The person living in the house had no idea who the hell she was one a lot.

They give a damn about Jennifer Lopez or her pop music and give a damn about her movies you got people were just trying to wake up and make a living and they don't have no time to think about man and he can't wait to get that concert I can't wait to sing Jenny from the block like people there's a lot of people sports for a lot of folks is an escape. It's a leisure activity and at the same time. If you gotta think about people who are coming from other parts of the world American basketball is not at the forefront.

American baseball is not the forefront. NFL football is here with us in America we ain't talking about messy and Rinaldo figures that people most people around the globe will identify that's where there's a difference. So when we talk about Kevin Durrant. Most people in New York City knowing who he is. New York City has a lot of people went from New York and a lot of people here from all over the country all over the world I'd venture to say in New York City proper in the metropolitan area. More people are familiar with someone like messy and Rinaldo than they are with Kevin Durrant can can we put a friendly wager on the share sure glad for okay I am because I know because I you know you your encyclopedia when it comes to sports. I only just want to present at a different perspective which is Kevin Durrant is one of the 30 most recognizable faces unplanned or if nothing else, because he is freakishly I say that, respectfully tall, and he's been in the vernacular in popular larger society for 16 years now, beginning when he was a freak of nature at Texas and I and and and again he has played in three different Olympics soap that people worldwide have seen him cite are in basketball.

I don't II think that is I think that's more of a niche audience than you realize. I really do. You can you can say he's one of the 30 most popular on earth I would say that if I wanted to put professional athletes. Maybe yeah, maybe he probably hits that 30 but he probably be at the back and I would look at footballers before that euthanasia will New York know messy and Rinaldo and and I'm trying to think of I and a and guys like root you think they recognize their face if there on the streets of Manhattan Times Square all man. If you walk messy or not, you wouldn't be able to no different than than Durrant because yes he's freakishly tall but it's that it's a global that basketball is a global game. Yes, but it still trails soccer it still trails football and so if I have to think about New York City proper.

I'm thinking about Manhattan, I'm not thinking about the 20,000 people that will walk through Madison Square Garden on 31st St. I'm thinking about the people in Bensonhurst. I'm thinking about the individuals in and in in the South Bronx. Something about people just just sunset part everywhere, flushing, not every body cares New York is a blue-collar town and it's a beautiful place because you can think about folks you have on Wall Street just as much as you have people who are just just want to make ends meet and every body is forced to live on top of each other and it also forces you to be tolerable and so people come from different backgrounds and make sure Kevin Durrant competed in the Olympics and multiple Olympics. What is that mean for every body across on the planet. No one who we is what was at me. Everybody watches the Olympics is watching USA basketball they gonna remember Kevin Durrant standing out from a bunch of other tall guys.

People know same old people know messy people know Rinaldo people know Lebron Kevin Durrant Yassa.

Jan is I would say Jan is and maybe Curry before Durrant in that space, and so saying that every person in New York City knows Kevin Durrant.

That's that's I don't know what that would be a surprise a lot of people in New York City. The metropolitan area. Not everybody follows basketball. I know I and I get everything you're saying.

I just think Kevin Durrant has done so many mainstream things he's been on so many different tonight using talkshow formats and TEC has you give me the keys, but he's been on CBS and NBC and Fox and ABC and and and WPI accenting. He goes beyond sports the and and Kevin Durrant what he does in terms of an entrepreneur what he does. Culturally, how much he's done philanthropic leg. He transcends the game as much as anyone of his generation.

He's just not well-liked but it doesn't mean he's not so formidable and has so much notoriety so you're telling me it I'm trying to understand this is I think what I said was was very simple. Not every body in New York City knows Kevin Durant. There are people in Brooklyn, New York who do not know who Kevin Durrant is met then I make sense makes it makes total sense the world what I was saying was even with Jennifer Lopez who was a international superstar. You always can have individuals like like like jet judgments clip physically before May when walking to a barbershop and Floyd Mayweather is pop up on the greatest boxer in the history of that sport 15 oh and it was that woman saying you know I don't know who you are influencing Google me and there were multiple people in the barbershop. The did not know Floyd Mayweather said that doesn't mean any public venue Floyd Maywood weather goes into every travel to in the world there are always going to be cameras on him because someone will recognize him and caressed. That's what I'm saying about him doing. He's reached that stratosphere gas every judge has not yet Aerojet has been around long enough. He has been great long enough. There's been many injury seasons and errant judges had you quit were talking about two different things here. We really are.

I brought up the fact I was trying to look at the juxtaposition here between Kevin Durrant in New York City and Aron judge a player New York City and how they are received. Being one plays in Brooklyn, one plays in the Bronx how they are not that far apart, but there is a way that Aron judge carries himself, that is to be appreciated, especially with the nonsense that we've had to endure with Kevin Durrant over the past several months I want to leave. I want to be traded. Fathers trying to force himself out and Aron judge.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, he has legitimate gripes on how he's been treated by the New York Yankees and he hasn't said a damn thing and so that was more so where the appreciation was to look at two megastars in New York City and to look at how one has behaved and handled himself, and how the other one has handled himself and it's like that was more so love for Aron judge my point being that what I initially said was that you have Kevin Durrant and you have two guys living and working and playing in a gigantic city and that yes not everybody follows sports.

That was my point.

It wasn't so much about all man well you know Kevin Durrant and this is in the Globalstar of course is we know he's a Globalstar we know me know that he's an Olympian and so my point was it's very simple. Not every body follows sports. Not everybody knows who is it has nothing to do with his popularity or or this or that it's a mighty rotten subway right now doesn't give a damn about NBA basketball and doesn't know who Durrant is there somebody riding the four train pass the Bronx right now. I am aware and judges but that's besides the point.

My point was Aron judge is continuing to do something spectacular in here you have someone who's doing it the right way, who has a chance, and an opportunity to gripe and complain and ditch and moan and ask for money and you have Kevin Durrant on the other hand, who just signed a $200 million contract and basically spent all summer trying to wind himself out, and so here in one city, New York City, and separate borrows one in the Bronx and one in Brooklyn and in not that's too damn far part an hour on the train. 30 minutes in the car, but I mean Dan Aron judge is deserving of all the love that he's receiving. That was my ultimate point and I'm glad here were talking a bunch of folks who love sports is the jar sport re-show on CBS sports radio will not come back, take a break 855-2124 CBS.

That's 855-2124 CBS reluctance of the jar sport re-show you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio. Great job before you wanted. I've heard your couple of times on your you always have great content and you got a great sense humor and I enjoy what you want to start out by saying that only now with 855-2124 CBS the JR sport re-show here with you on CBS sports radio Aron judge continues his potential assault on the record books. Aron judge continues to march towards an American League MVP. Tonight he hits his 51st homerun. He is on pace for 60 for the American League record is 6151 home runs on the season. 113 RBIs. He is batting to 96 and right now the New York Yankees are leading the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim still one of the dumbest names of ever heard in my life, 723 it's the top of the sixth and when we talked last segment I brought up the fact that it's it's beautiful. What would Aron judge is doing right now, especially for New York Yankee New York Yankees on the little bit of a skid right now below 500 for the month of August and if you go back to the start of the season. Aron judge and the Yankees.

They were in contract negotiations. Aron judge felt like the Yankees were, lowballing him, he declined their offer and he basically said I'm going to play this year out.

I'm going to bet on myself and just go play and that's what he did. The New York Yankees decided to honor one note that they tried to make him look bad. This is what we offer. This is how much we offer this long. We offer just to make him look a little ungrateful. He didn't whine heating complain all he's done is go out and up until now have a historic season Aron, judge plays in the Bronx New York South Bronx New York. The New York Yankees and I said it was very interesting. It is still very interesting that if you stick in New York City, a gigantic city and you go over to Brooklyn that you have someone like my Kevin Durrant one of the best basketball players. One of the best offense of players of all time. He's in Brooklyn and all the students been doing these. He's like the opposite of Aron judge Kevin Durrant signed a contract last year, a four year extension $200 million in before he's even played a minute for his new contract is already worn out. He wants a trade either want to be there. He tried to force his way father general manager five, a coach, get him out of here and so it's real interesting how when one big city you got two stars and then one is just I would say he's exemplary and he carries himself, and I would be Aron judge. On the other hand, you have Kevin Durrant lose just basically been unfortunately a 7 foot crybaby and I appreciated what he's done and not caring what people think in and how he goes about his business but my thought process on that has changed over the past several months. He's he's done nothing but pile on and be a world class whiner is on Twitter enough. He cares enough, but then he says he doesn't care.

And so, as a part of that conversation. Justin looking at the city in total in the Bronx and Brooklyn in New York City and how big it is. I said that not every body knows in New York City because it's a gigantic city because the metropolitan area so huge and I was trying to illustrate how huge it was brought up that not everybody knows Aron judge in the New York City metropolitan area. Not everybody knows Kevin Durrant in the metropolitan area and shut brought up the fact that hey, everybody knows Durrant most people know Durrant and I said not not so sure I'm positive there people who don't know, I know people have absolutely no interest in sports and that wouldn't know. And so we got into the back and forth about the popularity and who knows this and I'm like, not every we cover sports and yeah there's a lot of sports that goes outside of the realm into the mainstream.

There's still some people who don't care his many accomplishments that a Durrant might have these just another famous basketball player that people go okay cool cool and so we got the phone lines open right now is 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS Stephen is calling from Baltimore on the jar sport re-show us of Stephen leaving there are very enjoy the show. I just wanted to affirm our totally agree with what you're saying and for example, my mother. She doesn't care. One lick about sports and Kevin Durrant walked past her and she would probably think though the guy must play basketball some sort on a even about being in the Olympics on the only thing that she may watch from the Olympics is ice-skating so even that doesn't bite you know unfortunately Kevin Durrant doesn't transcend basketball you not like Lebron, you know, been involved in black lives matter is the media for other things besides that, all in court because of his basketball and platform but you know there are so many people and she lives in New York. She worked as a home healthcare nurse on your go to different people, houses and other immigrants are people who just trying to get by day-to-day don't have any clue as far as you know who sports figures are no majority but there is a significant amount of people just are not aware my mother would be shocked if I could, mom, there's a lot of people don't know Nancy Pelosi speak real did you go will that that that's that's actually a perfect scenario. Everybody has and I think I think everybody can do a little bit better is in relations to to Civics and and people in charge of public policy. I think we will be in a much better situation and more people were aware of that but you hit the nail on the head. We can walk around and I can as plenty of people whose Nancy Pelosi, I can go ahead and ask someone. Hey, do you know who Eric Holder is: we can go on and on and off the list. You don't we operate in in our own spaces and what interest you. What are you passionate about Annette's. That's a line that that that people follow along.

Steve appreciate your man. You can no doubt about it.

Sean is going to Morgan your CBSSports radio hey I just wanted second bailout: what you're saying you take a lot to be like a household in there so many different arm escapes out there you your port are sport of the biggest paper people in there so many different kinds of people doing you're not. You will know the heavyweight champ is a more back in the old days everybody can tell you that and you know you feel Floyd Mayweather Junior neurological none of the years but everyone knows who Mike Tyson yet who I think of you and then Summer Olympics you basketball you know when I think of some like that I think of Michael Phelps young.

Those are household names you allowed people know who those people are yet it's it's not we we were in a fractious place.

Thank you Tommy Scola from the wall is your CBSSports rate what's up Tommy JRA development very well. Good good looking. I've never been to New York have really good frame of reference that I cannot get my head around the fact or your notion people don't know Aron judge is New York City not being argumentative like well it's that's why I'll try to explain it is that I put it this way. Zion, who will true breeze breeze is the biggest star probably in the wall of the past 20 years. Randall yet right so if I am coming over from Houston, Texas, and I am a seamstress and I'm deciding to take my business to New Orleans and I don't care about football and I move over to New Orleans MMI unnecessarily going to know who drew breezes well maybe not, but I got you familiarize yourself quickly sure right right but that's wow that's love.

That's that's that's not but that's my point. Imagine right having a seamstress right cook an international businessman and they all come to New York City and is just like I don't I don't care about the Yankees are baseball alumni to make my money real quick. I know when it dawned on what I heard cool you 93, or 4.4 yet really close to 700 nautical yes three.

12 through half Victorian nightclub and your Facebook history right epic, but there's between you and the back my mind, and JR, I hope I that I am the only person working all call you tonight if you like.

I hope God that there is nothing going on in a rate all life. God did what they did okay before you jump like your you, go ahead and answer that populated thank you thank you Tommy for calling from the woman's Tommy is insinuating that it would be a travesty.

It would be a disaster if something came out whether tomorrow two years three years five years 10 years 15 years down the line if Aron judge breaks this record home run record for the American League and if Aron judge if we find out that he was using some type of of PED and he wants to know what I think about that and so what I will do is tell you exactly what I think about that. On the other side of the break. The phone lines are still open is 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS on the take more your calls. I'm an answer his question about Aron judge and potential of PED's. We got a lot to do. You are listening to the JR sport brief on CBSSports radio usually do to your sport brief on CBSSports radio recently discovered your show a few weeks ago you got a very holy now with 552124 CBS is the JR sport re-show on CBSSports radio. We had a bunch of NFL players get cut today about 800 Aron judge just hit another homerun about an hour ago.

He now has 51 on the season and it's not even September use of certain newsbreak John Gruden decided to, open up his mouth about his email scandal and will get into that at the top of the hour next hour and we got a bunch of callers on the lawn right now as we talked about Aron judge and his potential assault on the record books. I think it's a foregone conclusion. Aron, judge, and it's been this way for months now. He's going to be the American League MVP.

It's just what his stance and what is numbers look like when we get to the end of season right now he's on pace for 64 home runs, which would be an American League record for single-season passing a Marist system for or excuse me 61 home runs and then on the all-time list. Single-season Barry bonds Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were sitting there as well but a lot of people, roll their eyes at it. So I would consider personally. Aron judge to be that guy. One of our callers right before the break, asked me he said hey JR look if Aron judge goes out and we find out somehow, someway, that he was using this will devastate baseball and any of course as well.

I don't think we have evidence otherwise.

And when I say otherwise.

I don't think there's any evidence whatsoever that Aron judge is using. If I had to think about it this way. Aron judge sure we've seen guys stand in the batter's box that have been absolutely huge. There's a reason that Frank Thomas was cold, the big hurt. Mark McGwire was not a small man by any stretch of the imagination Aron judge is bigger than Frank Thomas about to 3 inches taller. Yes, Aron judge outweighs what Frank Thomas played at his peak by about 30 to 40 pounds. That sounds ridiculous, and we've had tall just guys standing in the batter's box. I'm I'm pretty sure most of our our callers or listeners they they might remember Richie Saxon while Richie Saxon was 67.

Just like Aron judge play first base. Richie Saxon was a beanpole yet amazing bat speed yet amazing power. He was a big gigantic human being Aron judge outweighs them by like 70 to 80 pounds and so if I want to think about someone who's able to hit 60 home runs 50 home runs. It's not a shock that it's Aron judge who's probably the biggest most athletic full-time baseball player for his size that we have seen it, we can put tall guys. The big unit on the mountain. We can put a guy out there. 610 and 611 and have a SideArm and strike every body in the world out what to have Aron judge 672 75 to 80 playing centerfield still makes no sense. This man is a power forward playing baseball and so will I know about strength and power. But he's been able to combine it with skill and athleticism as well, which is absolutely amazing to watch because you don't think somebody that big is to be able move the way he does. You don't think someone who's hitting home runs like that can actually be skillful in hitting a baseball. We got a lot of players who are all or nothing homeowner strikeout and that's what Aron judge was when he came up to the big leagues. This man can hit for average he can get on base. He can hit a single as much as he can hit a double if you not watching him every single night, you might just think it's just bombs away for Aron judge, not when he hits a homerun. It goes a long way but is also capable of playing situational baseball. He is a situational hitter is a freak he's going MVP, and until I hear or see otherwise I'm not going to say oh my God well there's a chance he could be using this chance anybody could be using that.

I think Fernando top teeth Junior was going to come out and be suspended. Hell no, but Fernando top teeth Junior just even a little over the course of the past year, he shown himself to make some dumb ass mistakes.

Aron judge has been a New York Yankee in the public spotlight since 2017. All things considered, is that a very long time is that 10, 15 years know it's not but I can't think of a more upstanding individual who has said things the right way done things the right way. Yes it be a massive shock if he came out and was quote unquote on something I'd be shocked out of the high heavens, Alex Rodriguez.

Note not surprised Fernando top teeth Junior and E showed himself over the past year before this to be a little tricky when it comes to you know his his behavior and things that he's done. Aron judge has never said anything done anything he's been absolutely amazing with the fans with the media how he's handled himself and got no sweat.

No problems with him 855-2124 CBS Eric is home from Baltimore. You're the JR sport re-show.

They are your I'm gonna go ahead Eric quickly put questionnaires on the my monologue. They're good about the situation. The parliamentary yes upload a release by Alamo Manny's allegation of abuse and your survey callers got up to the show and Charlottenburg situation you got roasted the Army. He got it seem like no one really talk about this caveman right which are well a lot I think we all know why, who, in a general sense is he in comparison to Sean Watson. The answer is nobody. Sean Watson plays quarterback Sean Watson is someone that people have followed since college. The Sean Watson is someone who is one of the best quarterbacks we seen step onto a field and over the past 5 to 10 years. The Sean Watson is damn good people know who he is and a lot of folks say kicker punter. Yes, they are absolutely important, but to Conaway it on the scale who was in comparison to the Sean Watson answer is nobody. Otherwise he would've been dropped like a bad habit is the JR sport re-show you which one CBS sports radio more vehicles after this it will get into Gruden and so much more. Don't
