Rocket mortgage can help you get there for home loan solutions that fit your life rocket can, how about this, but Dodgers finally officially clinched the National League West something that they have done now for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons. Must be nice to just be able bring in all the players and have a gigantic payroll and and actually draft guys and pull pictures out of the behind that just dodges our amazing how people like to complain about the Yankees and what they do. Men dodges got all the money and probably gonna win the World Series again this year. I know that a lot of people don't want to hear that I'd rather the Dodgers when then let's say I don't know the Astro sorry sorry. I love Houston don't care about the Astros queue all the angry Astros fans to gonna call me right now.

So Castel love Houston.

You have to love me 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS him to be here with you for one more hour. Thank you to super producer and holds Dave Shepherd thank you to Colton here helping us hold it down as well for the final hour of the show in a big gigantic.

Thank you to the NBA defensive player of the year Jan Michael Utah to Sanat Marcus, Mark, Marcus, Mark just joined us.

If you missed the interview. If you miss the conversation, you can go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app that's a you DAC why if you want to keep up with me.

I'm on social media everywhere.

I am at JR sport brief that is Twitter Facebook and Instagram and so it was just great to talk to Marcus.

That's actually the first time that I think it instincts first time that we've ever spoke.

I don't believe I've ever met Marcus, which is is odd, but I'm glad to have him on the show and I'm so happy that he joined us and didn't just talk about the amazing work that he's been able to put in with the Boston Celtics, but also his work with be the match. No cancer does not discriminate doesn't care who you are, where you're from. Unfortunately it's something that has had an deep impact on his life but is also pushed him to help others and has inspired him just on the basketball court and in society to help other people which I think is is so much more important. So kudos to him and in there some themes that that he mentioned that I do want to echo here at the open of this hour, and its elements of of teamwork in and just accountability and pushing each other and it these are facts that get lost in modern day sports especially when we have old so many professional athletes in oh so many sports, who are all about themselves and sure. Yes, we know it's a business, but you still have to be a team to go out there and win just because you slap a bunch of talented players together. It can take you.

Great places, but you gotta build camaraderie and it is no coincidence that last year after the Celtics just gonna went to mono you mono or not model we mono.

They were mono remodel against the other guy, but as they went, isolation, heavy.

It took Marcus Mark to speak out and say hey come on man yell, y'all be in Tatum and Brown. If we don't do some damage like we all have to participate. We all have to make our games more well-rounded and we saw how Marcus Martin has improved his game since he's been in the league and he's a more efficient shooter ball handler and he's one of the premier defenders.

He is worked his way into being one of the best all-around two-way players in the game flat in. In some so happy that he joined us and I got the phone lines open. That's 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS. We talked about a lot tonight if you have any thoughts or comments on the conversation we just had with Marcus Marta, the Boston Celtics of feel free to chime in. We've also spent a good amount of time talking about football.

Obviously, Nathaniel Hackett, Russell Wilson, Jerry Jones letting everybody know that DAC Prescott will probably be back sooner than later. They're not gonna put them on injured reserve, which would obviously knock him out for four weeks and so they have high hopes and expectations that he will make a return air and judge what else is new error in judgment on another homerun. What a shock. What a surprise. You know what Aaron just ingested a homerun hour and judge hit to home runs for the New York Yankees tonight in Boston and the Yankees.

It took him 10 innings took him a heart attack if you're a fan of the Yankees.

They walk away in 10 innings. The final score 726 an hour and judge both of his home runs broke ties and he gets a little bit closer to hitting 61.

This is what his 57th homerun sounded like. Of course it was played on the Yankees radio network by no one other than Mr. John Sterling listen to this picture judge so I drove right by our judge. The glass RN judge drills and to the right set available as he rounds third all rise and judge if it is 56 homerun revenues 122nd in the ballgame and started three mom every time he says judge Ian Blass that I want to take a shower, but congratulations yeah, that was his 56. Many of his 57th later. I don't need to abuse my ears with more John Sterling, but congratulations to Erin judge as he tries to hit more home runs than any right-hander in American league history and ingested history in general. The other guys in front and those guys are cheaters, and so Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire and Barry bonds that he can go kick rocks as far as I'm concerned, and not let's just see if Erin judge can go over 61, which I find to be the real record also is on pace now for 65 homeruns, 65 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS Kevin is called from Louisville you on the JR sport preshow Kevin what's on your mind where you live.

Kevin, I'm sorry, I was falsely available at such low say I'm drinking the Kool-Aid number given to Derek who labored Marcus part made me cry. Y'all worry of vilifying off vilifying their understanding of the war you will will I will locate Kevin out normal cry in a little bit. I'm in love with Patrick my daughter radio active down to the hospital going okay. I'm hungry. Michael a lower pizza billionaire liver pizza today can greatly some pretty damn Michael Demott around Michael, throwing the owner shows you are homeless and they aren't you the quick lesson is not is not a bad idea what I'm I'm glad I could have Marcus on as well. I know it's all in their duty or super man out front of Phil point where I want to jump starstruck for you know I don't do X all you sons and I'll listen to you every night. You know that producer Dave does to you and you keep it real in a millionaire love you always down on Lycos. My sister works for couple of my appreciation for all the EREI love you to get.

Thank you for all, not from Louisville that Kevin was touched by by by Marcus and that's why it's important to have people want to tell their personal stories to actually humanize the athletes. I think a lot of us can relate to what what Marcus had to deal with in his life because cancer does not discriminate. It doesn't care who you are, where you're from and it's something that is had an effect on his life and by him, sharing his story. It it helps out other people and that's that's the point of having him all outside of obviously talking about basketball you know this so much that you can do with sports and so much that it does, yeah, I can sit here and make jokes about Jerry Jones and I'll always do it is fun. I think this it's important to to have a balance and have a mixing know not take things away so seriously, but to know when to take things seriously sports.

It's a business is not the end-all is not the be-all. Sometimes I can feel that way, but it's about utilizing sports and in the people who participate in something that we love to just have an impact on other people's just what it is. Robert is calling from Charlotte your CBS sports radio what's up Rob how are you Margaret Mark interview. But what know it's hard for you.

What you first came delete worry of. Now I may need to put in the works about I deftly appreciate that… It week we seen this evolution as a player in no coincidence he's put no work in his family is the motivating factor for that would suck about. I'm a brain not given a BBB.I know they look great this year by the breakdown would be really tough and God back to back. Our dog okay let know. No sense in the mean, why not have optimism.

I mean, the Braves came on strong last year and not mean it took him almost half the summer to even get to a spot of you know, jumping over the Mets in the National League East and eight I got hot with all of the acquisitions and I know is as much as the Braves won the World Series.

If you look at the past 10 years. It's pretty much the Dodgers have been running the show and so the Braves they might be the chance but to a certain degree distal the underdogs well year of the gift of God here to be laid out. I get that part they do.

But I still think the break come out about that year. Okay, we'll see.

Thank you Rob that's a call from Charlotte.

That's the that's the fun part about watching and I agree. Whatever happens in the National League championship series. I think that's gonna go a long way to determining who wins the World Series. I think the National League I will be favored over the AL by the way I wanted.

I wouldn't necessarily dismiss the New York Mets year that bats are on par with probably even the Braves, let alone the Dodgers, but I mean dammit you put the grommet on the mound I know tonight the Chicago Cubs were able to score 3 runs on the wrong three runs, three of under grommets like scoring 10 runs on a normal human but put in the grommet on the Mount out there were insurers are oh my God it's nobody trying to see that first-round matchup, not those two guys out of the gate, not at all. Ryan is call for Massachusetts your CBS sports radio going JR is going damn well man what's up though. I believe Erin judge is on the right.

Let me tell you about that, though.

56 and 57 home run tonight and I mean he generally just like Sammy Sosa and Barry bonds. We look at the guy you got the same amount of it all, plastic surgery, both those guys together and shut up tennis: for Marilyn your CBS sports radio what's up JR on and another much but a lot better week ago we talked and you said you were all talk my balls and get me a raise member that you never sent me the information. Where is where is it.

I think I said more than that, I think I said I would actually like insult your balls yeah you did and so forget the race not I rather do both sent me would get know I'm always get no work when I call you, man. I broke my handball all night and I go you know I call you a list dear showed you out before I get off now. I get my car during 01, so listen to me listen to me very carefully to next time instead of waiting to call me when you leave work called me at work with your boss so I could tell your boss off is really not that tough. I believe you would do it man out where you got idea that they get just cracked me up when I read and then not have to give you new work which I probably have no problem I got you the reason I was calling you.

You know you know a guy like Erin judge. Okay you know guys don't come along very often okay is it that there are very few and few in between. You know when and you get all you people saying I need on their usual natty doing steroids bull crap this guy is just a big beast of a blood athlete man. He is just doing his thing and I just respect the check out and man ages. You know you gotta respect a guy like that man. I mean, how can you not.

There's no way that God doing anything well you know he is wealthy is a thing and that's a lot. The gentleman who called you will will he was. I picked the phone up with him before I spoke to you the reason why I let him go.

He couldn't even get his statement out correctly.

I know a good neighbor gave it all over the place. Yeah, you all of our current judges on plastic surgery just like Mark McGwire and Sammy likes man and I get it. I have a nothing but bad boy he is just of the true you know he's just a freak of nature at all. Yet and they come along once in a while they don't come along a lot, but you know what we get on man, I appreciate a month where I do. I'm not a Yankees fan by any stretch of imagination, but boy, I do love a good athlete.

Yes, you silly until we actually have evidence of the contrary light come on, I'm going to assume the baseball player that we have never seen this damn big at 67 Simonelli I greatly I'm going to assume that when he hits a baseball it's gonna go far because he's a big blank and not not because he he took something extra with his breakfast. You know big human.

And in extreme athlete in our garlic things that unite happens. Not everybody not everybody is outhit Chetan Wiltse exactly right that called my whole point. Call me back next time with your boss and then I'll share some positive words okay well my do that man, make sure you talk to you will legal make it happens and I know I'm telling the truth. Okay good night brother. Use well. Much love to attend in Maryland.

I can't wait to get back to Maryland.

Think will be in Maryland in three weeks is going be fun shallots everybody at Johns Hopkins.

I know they listen up there to the JR sport. We show here with you on CBS sports radio and we got a lot to do. I got an hour left to do it here on CBS sports radio don't move on the get, the more your goals. On the other side. And yet, I will talk to your boss if you put them along with me your CBS sports radio don't move. You are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio great JR my undercoat go up and we look you off on a regular basis about holy now 855-2124 CBS's the JR sport ratio here with you on CBS sports radio without a busy night. Marcus smart of the Boston Celtics joined us last hour we talked about the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones in and what the potential return of Dr. Prescott would look like Jerry Jones is holding out hope that he can return in the month we've looked at that play about 24 hours ago Nathaniel Hackett deciding to go four 6464 yard field goal to win the game.

We know what happened near Russell Wilson leave Seattle as a loser Nathaniel Hackett has to run around and celery by all. You made a mistake on Monday we get it and so it's been a very busy night and Alan judge this man keeps on going.

He said his 56 and 57 home run tonight against the Boston Celtics up in Beantown and the New York Yankees.

They ultimately win the game.

It took a heart attack for them to do it 10 innings 7 to 6 Roger Marist record.

Still holding of 61 home runs in 1961 still the most home runs hit in the American League by right-hand batter and Erin judge is on his way to 65. See what he can do. We talk a lot tonight I'll take your calls before were forced to pretty much rollout 855-2124 CBS. That's 8552124C. B. S. Anthony's call from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

You're the JR sport ratio was up Anthony I want to challenge the statement you made about the barn so McGwire and their records don't count. She will be six-year-old black man follow baseball required the end before 1946 will go out as far as I'm concerned all the baseball records are trained okay what else you got for me and in hypocrisy with the writer of that sport to allow David Ortiz to be in the Hall of Fame and we all know you think that right. So let me ask you a question. It is a couple of directions you going into different directions. The I can sit here and spend the next and it wouldn't take 30 minutes but I can talk to you for 20 minutes about David Ortiz and and him testing positive in it being released and why he's in the Hall of Fame so there's two conversations here is a conversation that you brought up about the validity of Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa versus an hour in charge and in the years you know whether or not.David Ortiz or anybody needs to go into the Hall of Fame. And so, which one do you want to address is at the first one of the latter origin do you record simple fortnightly 46 were black players were prohibited I consider all of those records, even the ones that you point about Babe Ruth to be trained well that tainted is not necessarily the work that is you now bringing up 1/3 point see this three things here that you brought up which moves us into three different directions and I'm going to try to narrow this down. It's the simplest one we can look at the validity of black people participating in anything in the United States of America, especially athletics, knowing that black folks didn't necessarily have rights, let alone to even play baseball. So if you want to look at the Negro leagues and say that oh my God. Well, those records don't count or they weren't pretty much input or put it in the news that there is a valid argument there. But the reality is if we look at major league baseball for what it is and what it has been unfortunately Negro league baseball was not included in so yes we can have that conversation. But let's stick to reality. So knowing that that's a fact. If you want to look at what has actually taken place and you can start at 1947, 1949. We can look at when Jackie came in and we can look at the past 70 years, and we can look at greenies and we can look at modern baseball. We can look at what we see now, the fact is, in my only point this based on modern baseball and records for what we see there is clear evidence clear as day.

If I have to look at Barry bonds Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. This indisputable evidence that these guys got a little bit to help it hitting their home runs and I have to look hold on I and talk about David Ortiz right now. Okay, David Ortiz is not sitting at the top of the home run record chart is he there have I missed something, something on the memo you've missed my point.

You have brought up three individual issues and I'm trying to help you focus in on one young man know you. You seem like you do because my point note. My point from the get go of what you want in three different directions. Is that what Alan judge has done this season is amazing and there is no damn evidence that this guy has gone out and got help. If we're talking about homerun records not who's in the Hall of Fame, not who is not having records because they participate in the Negro leagues. David Ortiz is not on that chart Izzy Molly, most simple question Izzy note but okay so it's not but it's not not David Ortiz will excuse me, questioning Erin judge even the fact doing good scandal, so-called steroid league.

It because they were happy with the nominal income would be attended.

Anthony, I don't consider it. Thank you so you're missing my point is you know me for different points on the say this very simple for you. The first thing that came up out of your mouth when you called up was that you want to challenge me on what I said about the validity of the home runs hit by Barry bonds Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire right. You then brought up David Ortiz and his Hall of Fame, which doesn't have anything to do with what I said and then you brought up the fact that the record books and the whole are incomplete because Negro league players are not included.

Okay yeah will sure that also happens to be the reality we know they're not included in so Negro leagues aside, David Ortiz, who has absolutely nothing to do with the record books and the home run chase aside, that leaves us with the three guys who I mentioned in the three of them, regardless of whether or not it was sanctioned major league baseball did not start testing until 2003 and what you said is well within your right it's your opinion.

You think because major league baseball turned a blind eye which is true. I'm not going to argue with you on that fact, but because they turned a blind eye that it's okay. I'm just living in reality, we can have a difference of opinion here when I look at Alan judge is a difference between him and the other three.

As of right now, so this minutes of the second. There is nothing, nothing indicative of him cheating and if you can help me find that they must have a conversation with the Negro leagues doesn't have a damn thing to do with it, and neither does David Ortiz. So are we trying to sweep everybody into that conversation. For help me is the JR sport we show you with you on CBS sports radio I'm to get some more your calls for rollout 855-2124 CBS and excuse me, because when we get to this newsflash. I'm going to take a break and I'm going to finish the show strong. I'm going to find me some cream some clear. I'm gonna call Barry bonds to get a little help to finish things strong.

You are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio listening JR sport brief on CBS sports radio brother know I will get all your work year really hard time calling now with 855-2124 CBS that's right it's the JR sport ratio here with you on CBS sports radio always talked about Erin judge and his two more home runs tonight. Now he has 57.

We talked about the Broncos and the Seahawks talked about the Dallas Cowboys. Mark is smart of the Boston Celtics. He joined us. If you missed a minute of the show, you can always listen, you can hit rewind. All you have to do is tune in on the free Odyssey at if you miss that conversation with Marcus Mark. Go ahead and lock in, take your goals here before I am forced rollout 855-2124 CBS that is 855-2124 CBS let's talk to you all of you go ahead and start in Rhode Island talk to Paul your CBS sports radio my call commander Jay welcome to around the airwaves. I'm going to start with the game last night.

The reason I want to start with. This is because three reasons on about three different directions like get a call one you have a great quarterback. Okay, the Broncos to a brand-new coach of brand-new coaches three. What hell was that how many times these cultures put these characters in harms way. In this case. This was a big insult to Russell Wilson. I'm positive he could do one at that game okay the idea that he did not want to be is old fans and the fans that were born Adam okay Mr. Russell Wilson knows very well what the vision is every game counts that the vision is going to be a firestorm this year.

Now I'm convinced I'm convinced that these cultures like last year. Put these cultures. These characters that don't make great money in harms way. Especially my copy last year and is more I could name all I want to take up all your time well I don't happen will thank you Paul for calls and wrote out.

I don't know if I call it harm's way. The men take the 64 yard field goal.

The coach admitted today that it was a mistake that he should've given a ball to Russell Wilson and it's real simple. It's his first game ever is the head coach. Let's see if he corrects his mistake.

Darius is called from Seattle on the JR sport ratio going hello. You know I say a few weeks ago I called you and we had a discussion you ask people what they felt were the most disrespected and I will and you get pushback on that and I just want to know.

In light of the thing that have come out over the few weeks directly copy David really with the Legion of showing solidarity with the coaches. They all seem to hate on the way out the door that's another story, but sort of bashing Russell over the past week or two and then with the hippies that came out by Brady in the Senate years and magazine you get published a piece that was actually flattering to Russell. After that, but I doubt anybody ready but know what you have modified your stance on what I said no because everything that you have just mentioned are things and issues that I've known for years. The things that I've heard for years and so it's it's really nothing new. When I think about disrespect. It's it's not looking at what Russell Wilson has accomplished and the team that he left it was due time for him to go.

He's a polarizing player for variety of reasons, but I think there are other players who haven't gotten the same type of blackened.

Haven't had his accomplishments. I wouldn't say so now you know I really like my I have a girlfriend, adult friend who have the doctor who knows something.

Things are things to over the years. Okay all I can figure it really kind of funny how the stories about being wanting control over things that I'm hyperbolic because what what I've gotten from him is that he wont influence right well and some of the more negative stories that come out of said that control that in that's that's that that's split New Year's Darius I mean all he wants to enroll influence most most players want one influence into the common response what you just said short you. You can talk to your girlfriend who knows someone who knows someone I can ask I can ask the players who played with him some of which I know very well and I can go ahead. I can also judge by my interactions with Russell Wilson, I'm not sitting there sharing with you things that are just hearsay. I'm also drawing from conclusions from being around him speaking to him and seeing how things operate. And so that's that's on base and okay sure you want one thing that really quickly.

I hope I 15 seconds quickly. Please okay want to control pain.

I noticed that in Super Bowl XLIX back on the call the picaro made back on the call back and made both the ridiculous call and yet God's will to be a control freak out, take it off there will thank you Darius I mean you you drawn summations from what a million trillion people say everybody has an opinion you know what they say about opinions right. The fact about Russell Wilson when it comes down to who he is or who he's not, is that he will always say the right thing. This never anything that rocks the boat, but like most businesses, there are issues of rocking the boat. He comes across as robotic there instances where he comes across as inauthentic.

If you want to hang your hat on people saying that all Russell Wilson wants control and you want to really hang your hat on that and couldn't go for.

I think anyone wants influence anyone who does anything and is worth a damn wants to have influence on what they do. He does a good job in publicly speaking to the media and die fusing situations and not blowing them up pretty much showed his cards that he is yes just like a lot of other people and that he operates a business, the business of Russell Wilson when his exit came publicly and how he did it and how he tried to painted and presented. They know Laszlo or or misinformation aerosol for us to see in front of us easy.

Daniel, from Phoenix your CBSSports radio air what's going on. Thank you that much. Go back to that very mind McGuire thing I watched them all go at it somewhat entertaining and then I saw Barry Bonds go at it and I agree with the steroid era and yet you're deftly doing it more impressive but anything I gotta say, really. You still have to put the bat on the ball and it's not easy to do that all the time of the home runs well yes it is you do have to hit the baseball to make a go over the fence, it becomes easier when you're older of an older age, and you don't tire like someone typically you know who would be your age at I don't know 3839 and 40 and so it's like a lot of things you get a little help you pop a pill you rub something then you shoot it in you and your last a little bit longer and so yes I don't think I don't think anyone has ever disputed the fact of you still need to have these the skill to hit the baseball but when you can last a little bit longer when you're not as tired look Wheatley seen a lot of these players who have cortical been accused and some of them have been found to use drugs. Yeah, they blasted in any hit home runs and they hit them longer and they fell apart. I mean, I can look at Mark McGuire. I can look at and Alex Rodriguez. So yes, they all they all had skill in thank you Daniel for calling from Phoenix.

They all had skill, Barry Bonds had skill. Barry Bonds didn't need to take anything but Barry Bonds wasn't thrilled with all the attention that Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were receiving so he need nothing.

What would his career look like if you didn't take all he probably be lauded or maybe not because he was a little bit of a jerk, even prior or before event and he's a self-admitted jerk. That's not any new revelation that I'm sharing with anyone. Rogers: from Houston, 6:10 AM shuttle asked everybody on the loop what's up Roger JR yes Roger L Roger, I don't only have time. Roger, I know now that you are you saying that Barry Bonds is a self-admitted jerk yet came out of his mouth. Barry Bonds and so well then what are your immediate all on the king at a church. Roger well I mean that's obvious. I mean it you put a sentence.

Everybody recall will that's that's not true. There a lot of people over the course of four hours that I have amazing conversations with that actually thanked me that send me emails actually a lot of program directors who thanked me for taking calls. What I do is actually push back on people who actually probably jerks what else you got a hydrant. We both know, program director know nothing you would agree you would say program directors. They try to tell you to do things and you say all that know I've actually not had a program director and four years in New York and national radio. I've never had a program director tell me anything to say on and why did you just bring up program directors because that you said people call me up and I chastise every you do.

I told you that in response.

I have many callers who if you listen to the show that I enjoyed listening and I also have many program directors who call up and say positive things but no one is ever called me and said hey you should say this you have anything else. Roger well I think that John well it's too late.

Sheesh. I love Houston but that God has been in one of the back alleys. Not that I know anything about a lot of them but he's a little bit to drink, listen, I love my callers. No one takes more callers than me, but if you call me up and you say something ridiculous. If you're not on point to tell you about. And that's probably at the rate of I don't know anywhere from 10 to 20+ callers.

Maybe dependent on the topic every night every hour every now and then on to get somebody who calls up who says something ridiculous and I'm a little bit forward, not ridiculousness realism for honesty and for being straightforward. It's not everybody's cup of I'm just gonna say what it is the general support we show you what you want CBSSports radio. I will be back with you tomorrow 10 PM Eastern time, 7 PM Pacific. It's when I get started and as I do every Wednesday night into Thursday morning. I'm going to bring you a new top six list.
